Dick Morris on F&F this morning says that while all this union crap is on center stage Obama can't make more of his (phony) move toward the center moves.

This is probably why all of these new issues from the WH and the Dems is now coming out such as not enforcing DOMA and Chuck Cheesedk's new gun control law.

They have to get the press off of the WI and IN union thing and the budget thing. Both of those items are big losers for them.

Union asshole beats up young girl at Freedom Works

From AP:

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Republicans and Democrats in the Wisconsin Assembly have agreed to a deal that will limit further debate on a bill taking away collective bargaining rights for public workers and lead to a vote on the measure later Thursday.

The deal was announced shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday following an unprecedented 40-hour debate that began Tuesday morning with only short breaks in between.

Democrats agreed to limit further amendments to just 38 with a 10-minute time limit on each one. If they take the maximum time for each, with no breaks, that would put the vote around noon.

Democratic Rep. Mark Pocan says democracy is being limited with the agreement and Democrats still plan to strenuously make their arguments over the last hours of debate.

Another interesting connection is the extremely close connection between Qaddafi and Chavez in Venezuela. They've been best buds for years giving each other (without a hint of irony) awards for being freedom fighters and liberators, Qaddafi even named a soccer stadium in Libya after Chavez. What could go wrong with Chavez being close to a middle east dictator who has been toying around with WMD and terrorists?

37 It appears to me that Obama is utterly clueless on what to do about anything that is going on in the world right now.  When he does act, his actions are at best inconsequential and pointless to the events that triggered his action.  I think that his strategy for governing is that 'things will work themselves out in the end' and when they do, he will take credit by giving speeches and posing.  When they don't, he has a prepared list of people that he can blame and a longer list of glassy eyed journalists project that blame.  For the first time in my life, America is irrelevant to anything that his happening in the world, and that imo, is not good news for the world.

It appears that union thugs are never content to kill their own golden goose.  They have to help other people kill theirs.

Government employee unions - worst idea ever.  No doubt instituted as a vote-buying scheme by the Dems, as per their usual mode of operation.

I don't know if this is still the case, but I read somewhere that in Japan the industrial unions were plant-specific.  Those unions were not vast enterprises covering entire corporations or industries.  If that kind of localization were the norm here their ability to do harm would be greatly diminished.  Negotiations would be much more reasonable - the union members would have to look to the survival of their own plant, and thus be motivated to contribute to long term solutions rather than to short term, devil-take-the-hindmost extortion.

The results of a NASA study suggest faulty electronics were not to blame for the unintended acceleration in Toyota vehicles that caused the company to recall nearly 8 million U.S. cars last year... Eventually, the NHTSA identified two mechanical defects behind the malfunction: "sticking" accelerator pedals and a design flaw that caused the pedals to become trapped by floor mats...

So I don't think NASA disputed the NHTSA results that pointed to the floor mats.

This demonstrates very clearly that all Canadian children belong to the state and not to the parents. Coming soon to an American hospital near you courtesy of the Democrat party.

111 The White House scoffs at the notion of an ulterior motive for scheduling meetings in what are, after all, meeting rooms. But at least four lobbyists who’ve been to the conference rooms just off Lafayette Square tell POLITICO they had the distinct impression they were being shunted off to Jackson Place – and off the books – so their visits wouldn’t later be made public.

113 Vic, I thought that went without saying. Doesn't Bammy have to ask for a stay in order to enforce? *

The way it was explained was that his order was in effect not only a declaration that the entire law was unconstitutional, but also an order that the law was unenforceable by the administration in any of the States that were party to the suit.

There was no requirement to enter a second order. What Obama should be doing is asking for a stay until ruling by a higher court. He has not done that because there is a good chance he would lose that action and speed up the process of it going to the Supremes.

He is actually just trying to drag this out as long as he can in order to get more and more of it in place to make it hard to dismantle in the end.

AK has already said it will not be enforced in their State.

Awww, poor former Bell City Manager Robert Rizzo.  The stress of that trial thing is getting to him!

Former Bell City Manager Robert Rizzo was removed on a gurney Wednesday during his preliminary hearing.

Rizzo was seated on a bench outside the courtroom at the downtown LA Criminal Courts Building when paramedics arrived at 12:30 p.m. He was talking to attorneys during a break. Rizzo complained of chest pains and light-headedness.

Rizzo, who earned a $787,637 salary plus a lucrative benefits package as Bell's chief administrative officer, is accused of misappropriating public funds.

His attorney, James Spertus, would not go into detail about his client's health, but he did say that being a defendant is always stressful.

"And then to take a case and magnify it through the press and have it nationally reported while under orders from your attorney not to say anything in defense of yourself is a very stressful thing," Spertus said.

The hearing, now in its third day, was adjourned for the remainder of the day.

Spertus said Rizzo emphatically did not want to go to the hospital.

"To the extent that anybody thinks that he's somehow trying to avoid his day in court, it's quite the contrary," said Spertus. "They had to drag him from this court."

Bwhahaha!  So Rahmbo is promising change in Chi-town saying "The status quo is unacceptable."  From today's WSJ:

"Mr. Emanuel...offered few specific proposals for how he would resolve the city's budget shortfall, which is approaching $1 billion, or the underfunding of public-employee pensions by some $20 billion....Speaking broadly,he said that any such solution would result not from hardball tatics but from collaboration and shared sacrifice.

When a reporter, calling Mr. Emanuel the wealthiest-ever head of Chicago government, asked if he would forgo his salary as mayor, Mr. Emanuel said he would draw a salary but not a pension.  During a 2 year stint in the Chicago office of a Wall Street Firm, Mr. Emanuel earned more than $15 million."

From one "community organizer" to another ...

Giovanni Di Stefano — known as “The Devil’s Advocate” — tells TMZ, he wants the Prez to set Manson free. Di Stefano — who has also repped the likes of Saddam Hussein — says Manson was nothing more than a cult leader, not a murderer — Manson didn’t do the killing. Di Stefano says at worst, Manson is guilty of telling his followers to “do something witchy” — never specifying murder. Di Stefano complains, “Manson has been made out in America to be the Satan of the criminal justice system. He does not deserve the title.”

Charlie wasn’t “made out in America”, he did his own PR.
As for the “pardon”, I thought Charlie was convicted on state charges in CA, so Obama can only put in a “good word” for him.

192 Jerry Brown just gave me a boner:

California Governor Jerry Brown pledged to cut $25 billion from an $85 billion spending plan to close the stateÂ’s budget gap if lawmakers block a special election to allow voters to extend temporary tax increases.

If lawmakers donÂ’t approve the special election, Brown said heÂ’d hold up the budget for as long as it takes to eliminate the $25 billion deficit through spending cuts.
