This is just one more example of the liberal assholes seeking through the courts what they can not get through legislation. In any case I am not sure that getting this case thrown out is a good thing.

First I note that Soto-squash has recused herself. That gets rid of one of the liberal assholes and maybe we have a good chance.

Also I would like to see the lawyers actually tackle this one FORCING the warmest SOBs to actually prove their case. So far nobody has ever done that. I would also like a ruling that actually reflected what the EPA was originally called for to do. That was show something was toxic by proof and then regulate it. Note the last bullshit SCOTUS ruling that went the opposite way and said if they did not want to regulate it they had to show evidence of why not.

Hahahaha, so what is that measure?  You can read it, but what it boils down to is everyone is unemployed, businesses are shutdown so there are very few actual taxes being paid. So with the feds pumping multi-trillions of dollars into social spending into the economy which they actually count as GDP, taxes as a percentage of GDP are low.

I listened to Mr. Know-it-all speak to the Chamber of Commerce yesterday.  I don't think it went over well,  but I haven't seen an article yet.

He was in arrogant lecturing professor mode.  The general theme was this:

Look at the jobs I am creating in green energy. (Pay no attention to the jobs I am destroying.) I like business,  this is why I appointed the head of GE to that board.  Ask not what your country can do for you,  ask yourself how many things you have done for the country lately,  and then hire some people (despite uncertain business climate and impending healthcare costs) because it is your duty to get those unemployment numbers lower so I look good.  And I am really smart and by the way,  it's all Bush's fault.  Thank you and God Bless America.

Those reasons are exactly why I like SSB.  It's difficult to sing, but liberty is a difficult thing.  It's tempting to simply give in and let someone else run your life, to give up your freedom for comfort and security.  It's militaristic, but it doesn't talk of expansion.  It is about defending ourselves.  In fact, the only way that we know that the flag, and what it stands for, is still there is by the fury that our enemies throw against it.  Yes, the melody is an old drinking song, but the American character was forged not from the nobility of old Europe, but from the common man.  Yes, the language is old fashioned, but I fully expect that the American people are smart enough to understand what it means.  We are supposed to be a nation of educated men and women, who don't need the world dumbed down for us.

A $7,500 electric car discount scares dealers

In an effort to put 1 million electric cars on the road by 2015, the Obama administration has proposed a plan that would put up to $7,500 directly in the hands of car buyers without having them jump through any tax hoops.

Plug-in car advocates love the idea but dealers aren't so sure about it.

Under the proposal, auto dealers and finance companies would take the tax credit for themselves and give customer's a simple on-the-spot discount.

A tax credit for plug-in vehicles already exists but, as it stands now, car buyers have to wait until tax time to get any money back. Consumers buying qualifying plug-in vehicles are eligible for a tax credit of between $2,500 and $7,500 depending on the size of the vehicle's battery pack.

The administration hopes in-dealership discounts will encourage more car buyers to choose electric vehicles. Details are still being worked out, but car dealers, who remember all the problems associated with the "Cash for Clunkers" program, are worried that this system could cause them more headaches.

One thing dealers are concerned about, according to the National Automobile Dealers Association, is that if they give a discount up-front, it could be difficult for them to recoup their money from the government later on, should a problem arise.

The Star Spangled Banner is an outstanding national anthem. It's melody is handsomely beautiful, strikingly awesome, with sublime affect. And the text reminds us that we have suffered the battles of war within America. Unlike any other country's anthem, the magnificence of ours represents, for me, our soaring American exceptionalism. As with the wide expanse of melody as an experiential reference to our presence from the Atlantic out into the Pacific, we Americans are different than any other national populace, and are great because (and so long as) we utilize the widest array before selecting the finest of ideas, all people having the opportunity to participate. That is not a simple process and requires focus to maintain on constitutional target. Anyone in the crowd can sing it in chorus, including harmonizing. And the more frequently we sing it together, the better we remember the lyrics. Hiring an adept soloist is the responsibility of whatever venue's management. The song is what it is, regardless of who "made" it officially our national anthem. Smearing its aesthetics with Wilson makes as much sense as boycotting a particular food because it was Wilson's favorite dish.  That rationale is as good as denying something good because a horrible person likes it as well. I wouldn't boycott Thanksgiving, either because some despise Lincoln who also recognized a national Thanksgiving remembrance, or because some despise the white men who were grateful for Divine Providence that INCLUDED beneficial native sympathizers keeping the whites alive, sharing survival skills. We Americans have our traditions. And hearing our national anthem played and singing along in chorus is a tradition that I treasure.

I think part of the problem is that vocal music isn't taught much anymore,  so anything with more than 3-4 notes is too hard for most people to sing without going flat or sharp. I hear the same thing with "America the beautiful" when audiences or congregations get to the high notes in the phrase "America,  America, God shed His grace on Thee."  Unless the song is begun in a low enough key,  there are a lot of clankers when they sing that first "America."

Also,  you never read critiques from French people  gripping about THEIR national anthem,  which is extremely difficult in both notes and rhythm.

When I was about 9, I knew the civil war history of my father's side of the family (all confederates). My mother's father also had the same history. LOL, I grew up with my great grandmother living with us. She grew up during reconstruction in GA. She would regal us all the time with horror stories of that time. 1. Do their political positions on things that matter to you match your own positions

As for Jim DeMint, he speaks conservative openly and he has one of the most conservative records in congress.

The speaking and the record makes the Republican bosses mad so he has to walk a very tight rope sometimes.

Not thinking it's "silly" at all. I feel the same way, based in part on my impression that he's a big talker...as a doer, not so much. That the Politician's Disease.

The sad thing is that so many Repubs grab on to each new possible candidate and sing his or her praises from the rooftops, then look like fools when reality sets it. Remember -- not as much here as at TepidAir -- when people were pushing the "Scott Brown '12!!eleventy!!" meme because he claimed to be a Repub and won in MA?

I hope we find a candidate next time who can back words with a record of deeds, who is willing to go to the effort of working to make things happen instead of making Great Speeches and expecting that makes them electable.

I don't yet know who that will be. I'm just about certain it won't be DeMint, Mutt Romney, Shuckabee or The Newt.

The you haven't been watching what he DOES. He has a consistent rating of 100. That means he votes conservative ALL the time.

He has also supported conservative candidates all over the country with his CPAC org.

No he walks the walk. Sometimes he has to moderate his "talk" to not piss off the squishes, but he still does the walk.

That is unlike Romney who does have a liberal record but talks the conservative words now (except for Romneycare).

1. The first person to start pushing it was Woodrow Wilson.
