Democrap scheme to embarrass Republicans fails vote

But will it be successful as what it was really intended for; campaign fodder? I donÂ’t think so as I think most people who actually vote know better for this kind of political maneuvering for “gotchas”.  But how about the two “Republicans” who voted to embarrass Republicans:

Two Republicans — Maine Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins — voted for the motion, while three Democrats — Sens. Mary Landrieu (La.), Ben Nelson (Neb.) and Mark Begich (Alaska) -- broke ranks and voted against the motion.

Tell me again why we need those two scrunts.

And the headlines at the Washington Times reads “Republicans block oil tax break repeal” The press never gives up a chance to do the Democrat’s bidding for them.

Reid will attempt to get around a Republican filibuster of Goodwin Lui

What MM doesn't mention is how this asshole got to the floor to begin with. Rule IV of the Senate Judiciary
Committee requires that at least one member of the minority Party vote to end debate in the committee to bring a nominee to vote out of the committee.

All I can find is the results of the actual vote out of the committee in which all 8 Republicans voted no. But before that vote there had to be a vote to hold the vote to end debate in the committee. At least one of the RINOs had to vote yes for that.

This is some of the games that the RINOs play to hide the real votes.

Now we are dependent on the RINOs in the Senate to go along with a block. I'm sure Brown and the ME sisters will help us.

45 #17  That is a very instructive article,  and people should realize that the same thing is done on the national level.

I note that 1: The choir IS going to get to sing the song,  2.  That the concern was over VIOLENCE in one part of the lyrics and 3. This had nothing to do with anyone being gay,  although the entire article has that theme.

Lots of "reportedly" and "supposedly" in that article,  too.

Now,  think about what we see in the news today.  Politico says "elite" in the GOP are pushing Daniels.  There evidence of this is from unnamed lobbyists quoting unnamed GOP strategists.  I read that and asked myself,  "Who are these "elite?"  And then I thought, "Has Politico ever used that term for anyone in the GOP?"

The answer is that Politico didn't start using that term until they realized it would be a hot-button for Tea Party people.  Now any time they want to discourage support of someone,  they are going to say the mysterious "elite GOP members" support him/her.

46 The WSJ has an interesting editorial about the IRS being used to harass political donors after being thwarted legislatively and by the SC:

We're starting to see a pattern here. Since the Supreme Court restored the First Amendment rights of businesses and unions in last year's Citizens United ruling, Democrats have been searching for a way to claw back control over political speech. The latest bureau to get the memo is the Internal Revenue Service, which may retroactively tax top donors to political advocacy groups.

I think this picture is the reason why Disney jumped on the trademark issue. [CDR M]

Feminist Disney is the mother of all whores. No surprise that they'd jump every opportunity to rape/pimp something.

But seriously, Government entities can be trademarked by non-government entities?

No reprisals from the Feds (at least not yet, so long as Disney cooperates fully) if the Feds put Disney up to it, hiring Disney to produce propaganda in accordance to those in office representing the globalist universal corporate dogma rather than representing the taxpaying US citizenry.

It wouldn't be the first time the Feds contracted with Disney for wartime propaganda. But actually trademarking crosses the precedent line. But then, Media selling out to the New World Order conquering "The (Ugly) American Way" has precedence galore.

Now, "American" means whatever-revision; and that revisionism requires extermination of memory and willingness to recall.

I always liked her dad. And I never found any reason to criticize her for adopting since her heart and money are in the right place helping the helpless, providing them security and love at home. That she visits our wounded men and women in the military doesn't surprise me in the least. That she does it without publicity also seems consistent.

For belonging to the Hollywood set, this person has figured out that beyond the daily routines that include her meeting her own needs, empathy really matters the most to her. So I imagine that as she ages, her acting will also improve with time given mature roles beyond the seductress.

Director/actress Jodie Foster's production company has a lot of promise. I liked Jodie's statement, that no one's self image should be based upon a box office. Given the right story, I think that being coupled with Mel Gibson onscreen would improve Angelina's acting, and benefit Mel's societal rehab. It would also recoup Foster's company's profits.

A man who won $2 million on a Michigan lottery show has told a TV station that he still uses food stamps.

Leroy Fick of Bay County admitted he still swipes the electronic card at stores, nearly a year after winning a jackpot on "Make Me Rich!" He told WNEM-TV in Saginaw that more than half the prize went to taxes.

Fick says the Department of Human Services told him he could continue to use the card, which is paid with tax dollars. He told WNEM: "If you're going to ... try to make me feel bad, you aren't going to do it."

The TV station says people have seen Fick driving a new Audi convertible. Messages seeking comment were left with his attorney and the state today.

Morning, all.

This is just terribly sad.  A young boy was found dead over the weekend just over the border from NH in South Berwick, ME.  It's now day four and no child matching his description has been reported missing, and no one has come forward to identify him.  I'm posting this here because at this point they're trying to get the boy's computer-generated picture out to a nationwide audience in case there's ANYONE out there who recognizes him.  He's got such a sweet face, I can't believe no one would miss him.  A truck spotted in the area where the body was found may have military ties (Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is nearby), so this child really could be from just about anywhere.

May he rest in peace, poor little thing.

Any lawyers out there? Concerning the recent court decisions regarding the Fourth Amendment:

On 12 May, the Indiana Supreme Court ruled that Hoosiers have no right to resist unlawful police entry into their homes.

http://tinyurl.com/3z25jpu

Now the United States Supreme Court has decided that it's okay for cops to bust into your home if they think you're trying to "get rid of evidence":

The Supreme Court on Monday ruled against a Kentucky man who was arrested after police burst into his apartment without a search warrant because they smelled marijuana and feared he was trying to get rid of incriminating evidence.

Voting 8-1, the justices reversed a Kentucky Supreme Court ruling that threw out the evidence gathered when officers entered Hollis King's apartment.

The court said there was no violation of King's constitutional rights because the police acted reasonably. Only Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg dissented.

Justice Samuel Alito said in his opinion for the court that people have no obligation to respond to the knock or, if they do open the door, allow the police to come in. In those cases, officers who wanted to gain entry would have to persuade a judge to issue a search warrant.

But Alito said, "Occupants who choose not to stand on their constitutional rights but instead elect to attempt to destroy evidence have only themselves to blame."

The case concerned exceptions to the Fourth Amendment requirement that police need a warrant to enter a home.

If they choose not to allow the police entrance to their home, the precedent in Indiana allows the cops to simply break down the door, even unlawfully, and residents have no right to resist or protect themselves.

......An odd set of facts led to Monday's ruling.

Police were only at King's apartment building because they were chasing a man who sold cocaine to a police informant. The man entered King's building and ducked into an apartment. The officers heard a door slam in a hallway, but by the time they were able to look down it, they saw only two closed doors.

They didn't know which one the suspect had gone through, but, smelling burnt pot, chose the apartment on the left.

In fact, the suspect had gone into the apartment on the right. Police eventually arrested him, too, but prosecutors later dropped charges against him for reasons that were not explained in court papers.
http://tinyurl.com/3s77axf

They entered the wrong apartment because they smelled pot. Somehow I don't thing the fugitive they sought would have bothered to light up a joint after immediately running and hiding from the cops. Even after the actual suspect was caught, the charges were dropped. So what happens to the innocent person they busted in on? Do they have any legal recourse?
There are few exigent circumstances that require warrantless searches or forced entry by police officers. If someone's life is in danger, if there's an assault or burglary taking place, or if a felon flees into a house to escape capture, then common sense tells you that law enforcement has to get in ASAP and not worry about a warrant.
Aside from the 'exigent circumstances'...the court opened up a gargantuan Pandora's Box. Errors in police judgement now override the Bill of Rights. This gives the green light to corrupt cops who like to kick in doors as an abuse of authority.
Gangster thugs have been known to disguise themselves as FBI agents and police officers when committing home invasions. Just think of a homeownerÂ’s hesitation resulting in their murder, now that the Supremes have given leeway to anyone wearing a police uniform.

"Searching for drugs" just became a license to violate your rights, and cover the asses of cops who raid the wrong place. This has the possibility of wide-spread abuse and subsequent lawsuits. Irresponsible judicial dumbasses like the Indiana Supremes, and now the Federal Supremes, donÂ’t have to live with the consequences of their decisions. TheyÂ’re not on the receiving end of illegal entry and no police officer will even think of approaching their homes.

The Fourth Amendment has been effectively shit-canned.

69 Both of those cases were examined in detail here in the past week and the SCOTUS case was well within precedent for "hot pursuit".

The Indiana case was actually a legal entry that they somehow managed to finagle a ruling that you had no right to defend against an unlawful entry. That part made no sense.

That "no sense" part will get people--both cops and home owners--killed.

71 How did they make the leap from "lawful entry" to no right to defend against an illegal one?

None of us could come up with a logical reason for them doing it other than stretching the case to fit something they wanted to do.

Both of these cases involved "hot pursuit" and the definition that has been worked out over the years in previous rulings.

The SCOTUS case was actually an 8-1 decision with the old hag commie dissenting because she said that the cops had time to get a warrant even as the drug dealers were destroying the evidence. (not because it was hot pursuit)

An 8-1 decision is pretty straightforward. It is rare when they agree that much.
