Obama team running ads in SC praising Romney and Huntsman
I gather from the article that the ads were designed to hurt the candidates by implying that they had support from Obama. These idiots must have more money in their campaign coffers than brains because Hunstman has zero chance in SC and Romney isnÂ’t much better.

AfghanistanÂ’s most-popular private news network reported Monday that Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar has been killed in Pakistan, reports that the Islamist militant movement denied.
The satellite news network TOLO News cited an Afghan security source in the report, which had few details. Neither Afghanistan's government nor PakistanÂ’s immediately confirmed or denied the reports.
According to TOLO, Omar was killed Saturday while in the custody of a former top official with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence, which has long and widely been suspected of secretly backing the Taliban and harboring Osama bin Laden — both contrary to the official public policy of Pakistan's government.
“Mullah Omar was shot dead as he was being moved from Quetta to North Waziristan by former ISI chief Gen. Hamid Gul,” the TOLO report said.
I sure hope it is true.

Stupid Communist economics is not the only reason CA is boned
Vic, the Renaissance Group (a smarmy gang that's "offering" their expertise across the country to unsuspecting communities) is now at work in my county trying to sell their version of "sustainability." It's that Agenda 21 B.S. The talk locally has turned to one of their proven methods for "working" (over) with groups: The Delphi Technique, also known as the Alinsky Technique. (This video is a brief slide show, soundtrack is unnecessary and just plain irritating.) Some of the citizen participants recognized it and called it to the attention of those opposed to the draconian legislation these people are determined to implement.
We have a local firebrand whose been researching all the restrictions associated with "green" this and "green" that, and the new buzzword, sustainability. At an emergency mtg last week she told us that all of the initiatives that California has in place -- courtesy of Agenda 21 -- are overwhelmingly responsible for businesses leaving California. Sellers slowly but surely get regulated out of doing business and leave.

That'll be interresting to see someone buck the trend of "If you don't win in Iowa, blah, blah, blah." With the critical food shortages, can't they just sell corn to eat to the US and the rest of the world? I'm sure it doesn't pay as well as the gubmint boondoggle, but there are corn and wheat shortages worldwide and hunger problems. They're supposed to be majorly Christian in Iowa, right?

For some reason, it didn't post Obama's entire quote:
"One of the great aspects of this job is it gives you an opportunity to meet with people from all walks of life. You've had a chance to talk to the Queen of England on one day, and the next day you have the chance to talk to somebody in a diner off a highway here in the United States. And what you find is that there's a lot of wisdom to be found - if you're willing to listen.
And I think most politicians spend most of their time talking instead of listening. That's a habit that I try to break," he added.

Farm subsidies, is that where they pay you not to farm?
Cause a lot of people buy farms and then get the farm subsidies from afar as the far is their second house. Something about the tax advantages.
Yes, sort of. The theory given back when they were created was that they would pay some farmers to limit the number and type of crops grown so that supply would be artificially low and prices would remain high and therefore family farms could survive. What actually happens is that the price of food remains artificially high and in addition corporations and non-farmers have also taken advantage of the subsidies and we are now paying them as well.
If you look up the zip codes for farm subsidies you will find a whole lot of farm subsidy money going to Manhattan because many people who live there also own homes in the country that used to be farms, so they continue to collect the farm subsidies because they are "choosing" not to farm.
Eliminating farm subsidies altogether is a very contentious issue, especially in the midwest, but I think one way to attack it is to get rid of subsidies to corporations and non-farmers. It doesn't get rid of the problem entirely but I think it's politically feasible.

The Joplin storm has been described as 'multiple vortex.' What that means in plain language is that it wasn't just one funnel but multiple whirling around. Those are Extremely Bad News; it's not surprising the damage looks even worse than the Tuscaloosa twister. It's the difference between one puma jumping you, and finding you're the main course for family night. It probably didn't help that it hit a freakin' hospital, which will make it that much harder to deal.
Some local relief efforts here in AL are still ramping up; I know the Boy Scouts are starting work with the youth in the area affected. I can't imagine Joplin will be recovering any faster, so keep an eye out for needs over the longer turn. I hope that's not an area dealing with the floods as well, that would just be too miserable for words at that point.

"It's vicious," said a Pakistani official briefed on the interrogation of the widows. "The older wives think the younger one tipped off the Americans or was tracked when she came to join him."
The al-Qa'ida leader was living with three wives when he was killed in Abbottabad three weeks ago. Until US investigators discovered his hiding place, it was not known whether bin Laden and his family were alive. Some reports suggested that they had been killed in the US bombing of Afghanistan.
Although the compound where bin Laden hid for five years was large, the three wives were all cooped up in the same house. The older two lived on the second floor and the youngest one on the top. Their husband alternated between them. Pakistani officials who have been debriefing the women portray life in the compound as an Islamic version of Desperate Housewives.
