James Clyburn throws down a dog-eared and wore out card

WASHINGTON — U.S. Congressman Jim Clyburn of Columbia, the highest-ranking African-American in Congress, on Wednesday blamed most of President Barack Obama’s political problems on racism.

One of these years these race mongers will quit throwing this card. I guess they will quit throwing it when the MFM quits obliging them on it.

Shocker of Shockers - CA school officials learn the law of unintended consequences

NOVATO, Calif.—After the Novato school district banned junk food in its K-12 schools in 2007, Rana Sanghi saw an opportunity. He altered his ice cream truck route to include Novato High School, parking the vehicle just outside the entrance.

Well I guess they are not familiar with “free enterprise”. Ban snacks in school and students will find a way. Angry kids scream “We want our Doritos!”

13 The NYT, the official rag of the DNC, crowing about the significance of the special election in Buffalo, and how it points out the way for the retaking of the House.  Medicare.  Medicare!  MEDICARE!!!!!!

And the old gray lady will be right there at the barricades with them.  You bet.

Then  they go on with another of their favorite themes, the state of the state, which naturally takes them into their criticism of the part of the Cuomo budget that does the property tax cap, and therefore is robbing the children of the quality education they deserve.

The Times says the flight of people and business from the state has nothing to do with taxation, and everything to do with education quality.  They report that NY is something like 46th in rank, and then seem to imply that if only we would spend a whole lot more (and of course tax to be able to spend) we could get back up to that first place position and then get all the biz and peeps back.

What the fuck are they smoking at the Times?

So I'm not the only one turned off by Pawlenty, the cheap Mitt knock-off. Whoever responded to the Insider Advantage/Newsmax evidently don't agree with Mark Steyn's endorsement that Pawlenty is the exciting conservative guy that we can all get behind with full-hearted support.

Last night on Cavuto, he had on this empty headed dem shrew who pretty much proved why we are screwed - boned - whatever.  All she could do was to reiterate over and over the attack ad verbage extolling the evils of the repubs who just want to kill old people and their pets.  Bottom line I guess, in the end - we're boned.  Nothing has changed.  They don't really want to change things in Washington.  They just want to get re-elected and ride the gravy train as long as they can.  They can be content though, in the knowledge that when the foundations of this country do collapse, they will have had a fucking library named after them.

57 When I think the DOOM will win out, which is most of the time, it stuff like this that reinforces it. Barney Frank helped his boyfriend get a job at Fannie Mae while serving on the subcommittee regulating them, and of course he received hefty campaign contributions from FM as well. His explanation? Everyone does it. A blurb:

U.S. Rep. Barney Frank admitted he helped his ex-lover land a lucrative post with Fannie Mae in the early 1990s while the Newton Democrat was on a committee that regulated the lending giant — but he called questions of a potential ethical conflict “nonsense.”

Not mentioned in the article is his famous statement in 2005 "I want to roll the dice on this one" regarding tightening standards on home loan approvals at Mae/Mac. We all know how that turned out. An entire industry crippled for years, millions of ruined credit scores and bankruptcies, and he's still in office.

Dealing with the IRS is stressful enough. So is dealing with identity theft.

For a large and growing number of Americans, thereÂ’s a fresh hell: dealing with both at once.

Since 2008, the IRS has identified about 470,000 incidents of identity theft affecting more than 390,000 taxpayers, Sen. Bill Nelson (D., Fla.) said at a Senate Finance Committee hearing on Wednesday.

May 26 (Bloomberg) -- More Americans than forecast filed applications for unemployment benefits last week, a sign the labor market is struggling to gain momentum.

Jobless claims increased by 10,000 to 424,000 in the week ended May 21, Labor Department figures showed today in Washington. 71 Since 2008, the IRS has identified about 470,000 incidents of identity theft affecting more than 390,000 taxpayers, Sen. Bill Nelson (D., Fla.) said at a Senate Finance Committee hearing on Wednesday.

Rick Perry's administration in Texas posted the personal identifications of millions of Texans online, with the obligatory apology for any possible inconvenience. Professional "oops". The State of Texas will try not to do that again. Meanwhile, all of you illegal aliens from around the world along with every other criminal, enjoy your fraudulent "rights" in the USA as citizens of NAFTA provided personally by stolen Texan identities.

May 26 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. economy grew at a 1.8 percent annual rate in the first quarter, less than forecast, reflecting a smaller gain in consumer spending than previously calculated.

The revised rise in gross domestic product was the same as estimated last month and compared with a 3.1 percent gain in the prior quarter, Commerce Department figures showed today in Washington. The median forecast of economists surveyed by Bloomberg News called for a 2.2 percent increase.

So, while Mladic has been captured in Serbia, Britain has decided not to deport Phillip Machemedze, torturer for Mugabe, for overstaying his temporary visa by ELEVEN YEARS, because he may face "torture and execution without a trial" if returned to his native Zimbabwe.

Phillip Machemedze smashed a man's jaw with pliers before extracting his teeth, one of his many victims while working for Zimbabwe's notorious Central Intelligence organisation.

The 47-year-old also gave electric shocks to a white farmer, whipped a woman before pouring salt in her wounds and took part in the 'slow' killing of one of Mugabe's political opponents, the Sun reported today.

Meanwhile, while he's been staying in Britain, he and his wife have been receiving taxpayer-funded HIV treatment.  Yes, the people of Britain have been propping up the lives of this vile piece of scum and his wife.

I don't understand this logic.  The political and economic climate of the country continues to worsen and there is no clear GOP nominee.  Why shouldn't he be able to run?  I can see if you were from Texas - although even then I don't quite see it, Perry has certainly served in Texas state offices long enough to have earned some goodwill to leave office sooner than expected - but if you aren't from Texas, why do you care?  Is every politician supposed to have a crystal ball they use to plan every political move they make?

First off, he would not have to resign to run in the primary.  And if he won the primary, he'd have a decision to make, but he would have put in nearly a year of his most recent term.

99  I still don't see a need to audit the Fed.

We'll see about that, given Cain's position that until he's privy to the secret intelligence, there's little point predicting what he'll find. Cain would likely choose Bachmann or Palin as a running mate, should he make it on the ticket. So far, he's playing on instincts, not to be disregarded out of hand.

But just as Mark Steyn committed himself to supporting, I too support Ron Paul's economic agenda for America. First priority: Support candidates who'll sever all government ties with the Federal Reserve.

A Cain/Paul ticket would certainly set a blazing campaign to out-perform Obama/whoever. Cain/Paul marries CEO experience pro US Constitutional Republic with massive congressional experience, weds tendencies for interventionism balanced by non-interventionism.

At least America might limit our number of simultaneous wars since one of the two knows his own position. As is, we're stuck making never ending wars against intelligence fabrications that undergo revisionism according to corrupt political expediency, actually destroying human rights.

Perhaps VP Paul might make more headway in the Senate beyond exposing financial Federal Reserve corruption, more importantly, strong headway reasserting States Rights and an economy with local/small banks and no tax funding bail-outs. In particular, Ron Paul would surgically remove the Federal Reserve parasitic position within our Government. Neither Palin nor Bachmann would be so bold or have the inclination, let alone have the allies in the field of economics, to substantiate a free American economy without the status quo Federal Reserve running the show.

So what if Congress actually stopped spending yet the Federal Reserve, always doing well, kept loaning tax funds to international interests? (Sound familiar?) What good would be the congressional battles won by legislation to balance the US Budget when the parasitic Fed sucks Americans dry and turns us over in national bankruptcy proceedings against America, sold, bought and paid for by international interests. We bound ourselves and our Congress, delivered ourselves to be OPENLY owned, used and abused as slaves in the Global Feudal Order.

Since you're not from Texas, quit failing to acknowledge warnings from Texans of what constitutional rights that Gov.Perry has intentionally denied US citizens in Texas.

Think again because you're wrong to assume that corrupt power earns goodwill from taxpaying, voting American CITIZENS who own private property that Perry disregards and would confiscate for his freeway to hell and back, Americans who own private small businesses that Perry inhibits in favor of foreign businesses, Americans who have physical bodies not to be abused for Perry's pharmaceutical kickbacks, and Americans who have an entire community of children confiscated without just cause and denied familial contact for over a year, confined without proper sanitation and care in Texas State CPS facilities never meant to house hundreds of children at once.

I lived in Texas for 7 years and we almost returned there this year.  And the point of my question - to someone else, incidentally - was not touting Perry's qualities as a candidate but simply the logic behind saying that any seated poltician can't leave office early.  One wonders why it's cool for Ron (or Rand) Paul to enter the race, but not for Perry.

Of the three, only PBS revealed there was a Dem running as a Tea Party candidate who siphoned off 9% of the vote and also revealed the percentage of votes the winner got [47%].

However, not to get in the way of the conclusion that this was a referendum on the Ryan Medicare plan, PBS brought in its political "expert" who said that the presence of the TP con man didn't matter. Gwen Ifill forgot to ask what the TP guy's position on Medicare was. Funny since that was what the "referendum" was about.

As we all know, the Dem plan is to demogogue and lie about any fixes to Medicare and to inject third party candidates to win a plurality. This was their tune up.

What good will it do for Texas to have Perry as governor if Obama gets re-elected?

The functioning role of Governor in Texas is weak in contrast to the typical state's Governor powers.

Great power is vested in the Texas State Legislature that only meets every other year in session.

The Lt. Governor performs more official duties in the Legislature than the Governor. Hence, when George W. Bush ran for potus, he looked good nationally because the truly great statesman Lt. Gov. Bob Bullock (Democrat) was running the show so well for Texas.

Perry will break his pledge just as GWBush broke his campaign promise to complete a re-elected term as Governor of Texas.

Rick Perry is the Republican antithesis of the Tea Party. Perry sabotaged Debra Medina's campaign for Texas Governor after she proved repeatedly in televised debates that SHE, a longtime Republican activist, knew to use better constitutional governance and more knowledge about Texas Laws and poor healthcare governing policy than Rick Perry knew or could defend regarding his record. So the smear campaign was launched against the Tea Party Candidate for Texas Governor by the neoconservative insider Republican incumbent whose only intention has been to secure his GOP potus ticket, whether for '12 or '16. And since Jeb Bush is running in '16, that only leaves Perry with '12 to take. So naturally as liar, Perry touts himself as "Tea Party before Tea Party was Cool" a total insult to the Texas Tea Party and to Americans concerned with the demise of our Constitutional Republic and our Liberty as US citizens to AT LEAST enjoy our constitutional rights in America, or AT LEAST in Texas.

Ask Rick Perry why he didn't support the Texas House Bill 1937 yesterday in the Senate vote that capitulated entirely to Obama's TSA threat to deny all flights into Texas. Perry won't stand against tyranny being a tyrant himself. Perry won't stand for the Constitution that encumbers his preference for elitist authoritarianism complete with plentiful PERSONAL power and wealth at the expense of US citizen taxpayers. But Perry will con his way in the public eye as the Cowboy, anything for your vote. (And as American Idol illustrated last night, the cowboy is "in" with the kiddies' vote.)

But Texas IS in jeopardy given the Obama administration law suit vs. state licensing rights for business.

And yesterday, though the House voted unanimously FOR HB1937, the Senate buckled under to Obama's TSA authoritarian threat to stop all commerce entering Texas if this State dares to refuse TSA groping rights without just cause.

133 125 So if the legislature is the real reason behind the success of Texas ( and it's a ongoing battle to remain so) how do you base your desire for Perry based on how successful a Governor he is?

See @127 which is something I've read many times on blogs.

But from my perspective, it's about optics.  Pure and simple.  Texas is doing well and he gets to reap the benefits of that.

If Romney had done what many of us wanted him to do - namely, dissect Obamacare and Masscare in gory detail and show how they are both failed experiments - then he'd be the clear front-runner.  Even if he's not a great conservative, he's conservative enough for what I suspect is the majority of primary voters.  But he hasn't done that, so we're all looking for an alternative because Romney can't win against Obama if he has this Masscare albatross around his neck.

I think Palin, whatever her merits as a person or as a conservative, can only be described as a failed governor simply because she didn't complete her term.  It doesn't matter to the voters why she resigned.  Just that she did and that therefore her agenda went unfinished.  You could say the same of Christie and I guess Jindal (is he in his first term), although it would be a bit different because they didn't have to resign (if they won higher office).

To me any multi-term or full-term governor has an edge because s/he can point to what they ran on and what they did in a full term.  Since Perry has been both Lt Gov and Gov, he has plenty of a record to point to.  He ran on doing X, Y, Z in his first term(s) and accomplished whatever he accomplished.  So an aborted additional term is only damaging insofar as he failed to predict last year that his candidacy would be needed for the good of th ecountry this year.  To me, that's a really standard message anyone who leaves office early for a higher office has to deliver and does deliver successfully.

I am not touting Perry.  Personally, I haven't heard anythign that disqualifies him for me - he seems conservative enough (certainly better than Huntsman) and he is clearly willing to fight Obama.  I'm merely saying that I think he is a stronger candidate based on resume than Palin or Cain or Gingrich, simply because he's a sitting governor of a really successful state.

And I apologize if you took offense at my comment to CoolCzech.  I was not intending to be snide.  But you are missing my main question which is why does it matter if someoen promises out loud or implied to finish his or her term if he or she has already basically served their time?

137 How about some fresh links?  I remember that "$5 gas" screed when it was new - maybe it wasn't here back then, but it certainly was no secret in the intertubes.
