Then (I assume he will "reflect" on his thoughts as he flies back to DC) Obama will celebrate Cinco de Mayo at the White House, no doubt with mariachis and festive costumes and food.
The fact that these two events were scheduled on the same day tells me that he assigns equal importance to both, because both are simply ways to bump his poll numbers up for reelection.
I am very glad that President Bush isn't going. I am also glad that Bill Clinton had a "scheduling conflict."

Good news, everyone! This is no longer a wacky right-wing conspiracy theory.
The Dept of Justice (for some) intentionally sent guns to Mexican drug cartels,
in order to then capture them when they come back into the country,
and use this intel as a justification to curtail gun rights for Americans.

The cartoon there is awesome too!
ex.
Reporter Justin Farmer: “I took in the man himself, this man, President Barack Obama. Regardless of one’s political leanings, there’s no doubt this is a gifted and complex man. Think about what he ponders in any given day?”
CBS news anchor Katie Couric: “It was an extraordinary moment, President Obama went on national television today and did what no other president has ever even been asked to do, prove he’s a natural born U.S. citizen.”
MSNBC newsman Chuck Todd: “I guess what I’m confused about, how is this an administration – what is it that the president could have done about the price of gasoline?”

Barack Obama will make his first trip as president to Ground Zero in Manhattan on Thursday, to lay a wreath at the 9/11 memorial, meet with victims' families and talk to first responders. The ceremony at which Obama will lay the wreath is open to the press; his meeting with the families is private.
White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters on Wednesday that Obama doesn't plan to make any public remarks on his trip.

Get ready for another sellout by the GOP
The CR was fair warning that they would cave. Well it looks like they are going to cave on the debt ceiling and possibly even cutting the budget.
So tell me again why I should support raising retirement age and decreasing benefits. It is evident that NOBODY in Washington has the balls to cut spending. Bring on the doom and it will cut itself.

Any explanation as to how military grade (I read that as full auto) AK-47s just get sold easily to suspicious characters without full BATF approval/knowldge.
For some reason, all my local gun shops don't stock any full auto weapons and reference the National Firearms Act of 1934 when I ask when full auto machine guns will be available. Maybe I am in the wrong state and have the wrong accent?

Outsider hired for Obama speeches (link to the Washington Times)
On top of the more than half a million dollars it spends on speechwriters, the White House is using tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars on a public relations firm headed by Democratic image maker Michael Sheehan — once dubbed by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton as an “extraordinary media coach” who helped her master the teleprompter.
In light of the fiasco that has ensued surrounding the OBL situation, I think the WH needs to void this contract pronto. They aren't getting my money's worth.
And I bolded the bit about the teleprompter because you KNOW that's why they hired this guy's firm.

May 5 (Bloomberg) -- More Americans unexpectedly filed first-time claims for unemployment insurance payments last week, pushed up by three factors that normal seasonal variations failed to take into account, the Labor Department said.
Applications for jobless benefits jumped by 43,000 to 474,000 in the week ended April 30, the most since August, Labor Department figures showed today. A spring break holiday in New York, a new emergency benefits program in Oregon and auto shutdowns caused by the disaster in Japan were the main reasons for the surge, a Labor Department spokesman said as the data was released to the press.
How unexpected. The pathetic excuses I mean. A spring break holiday in NY caused higher unemployment?

Mitch Daniels admitting he's not ready to debate Obama on foreign policy didn't help whatever "Republican" platform.
Interestingly, Palin sheds her neoconservative advisers, opting for the previous school of thought represented by Hoover. None too soon, given her early admonition for a Libyan "No Fly Zone" that our Air Force can not conduct without pulling out efforts/forces from Afghanistan. The "take it to them before they bring it here" doesn't deliver US security, let alone Liberty. But she's still on that interventionist bandwagon with her caveat against nation building since that "good intention" fraud proved a big fail.
Obama's preparing to announce the victory he isn't interested achieving in Afghanistan in order to attack elsewhere, as if he's Gen. Sherman's processional march to the sea burning the Middle East as the US hopscotches from war to war, foolishly declaring allies as enemies given Obama vs. Pakistan (Obama vs. Poland, etc.).

Ryan's plan creates a two-rate income tax schedule. A 10% rate would apply to anyone earning up to $50,000 ($100,000 for joint filers). A 25% rate would apply to any income over $50,000. The tax change would be revenue-neutral because the proposal also eliminates a series of tax breaks.

Ah, the neoconservative revisionist Alinsky acolyte.
I know that it is a maxim with us, and I think it a wise one, not to entangle ourselves with the affairs of other nations. Thomas Jefferson to E. Carringont, 1787.
Let our affairs be disentangled from those of other nations except as to commerce. Thomas Jefferson to Gideon Granger, 1800.
I sincerely join you in abjuring all political connection with every foreign power; and though I cordially wish well to the progress of liberty in all nations, and would forever give it the weight of our countenance, yet they are not to be touched without contamination from their bad principles. Thomas Jefferson to T. Lomax, March 1799.

Good luck with that since the sentence itself (much like Jefferson's policies regarding same) is kind of impossible in a global economy.

As if the Napoleonic Wars didn't dominate world affairs and establish the French global Empire that didn't really crumble until they lost IndoChina/VietNam and Algiers.
We'd learn a lesson from Cinco de Mayo. America should not over-extend herself globally in Military engagements, especially given that our Dollar no longer holds value. Napoleon's empire wasn't the only one that fell victim of its own Pride.

Or did the Franco-Prussian War pretty much establish who the dominant power on the Continent was? France was playing defense from then on, they just didn't know it. You'd think the inability to take back Alsace-Lorraine would have told 'em something.

Meh. By the 1860s the French had the sweepings of Empire. Algiers was no plum - who would fight them for it other than the Algerians themselves? And IndoChina, while not useless, wasn't worth anyone's time except for the Japanese who picked it up from the Vichy.
The end of the Napoleonic Wars cemented France's status as second-rate power until doomsday.

Posted by: CircaTake your own advice. Things ARE different given our current circumstances resulting from a CENTURY of eugenic socialist misdirection perverting our Constitutional Government into an authoritarian state. As you look around, consider why you'd dismiss First Principles. Our own Yale/Harvard elitists positioned America in the Perfect Storm of the ruined Dollar created by globalist feudal elitism driving the New World Order. And you'd play their dhimmi pawn persecuting those holding to Liberty. Even if you would, consider again if you can destroy the Idea by ridiculing those who function according to the Idea.

Juxtapose this stuff with the various official lie quotes about Islam we're subjected to on a daily basis.
Osama means "lion" is Arabic btw.
Islam Unplugged (speaking to Obama):
“You personally instructed to kill Muslims. You should know that soon you’ll hang together with Bush Junior.”
The western dogs are rejoicing after killing one of our Islamic lions. From Al-Aqsa Mosque, where the future caliphate will originate with the help of God, we say to them — the dogs will not rejoice too much for killing the lions. The dogs will remain dogs and the lion, even if he is dead, will remain a lion.

Initially supporting humanity's right to self determination does not equate to financially supporting the French Revolution's bloody tyranny.
Why would you be afraid to consider that by quoting Jefferson's communications with his peers, that he expressed the commonly held views of his day? "MAXIM"
John Adams, James Madison, George Washington and Benjamin Franklin are merely other examples of our Founders who shared Jefferson's views. But you'd play Alinsky, singling out Jefferson as if his positions were alien. And though many Americans hold firmly to First Principles, you'd mandate them expired.
