13 Ron Paul just got done announcing his candidacy for the GOP presidential nomination on Good Morning America.  He got 15 minutes at the beginning of the show.

I tell you,  I wish that guy would get lost.  He does nothing but distract.  His minions show up at the debates and we have to listen to them hoot and holler while he spouts his bizarro foreign policy.

16 #15  Hrothgar,  I agree.

However,  the SEALS and the CIA are capable of doing this...including giving some in the White House disinformation.  I know I would!

The IBD poll I linked above shows Obama got NO bounce with men for the bin Laden raid.  I think this is because men know how the military works and also they have an aversion to seeing The Won out there grabbing all of thecredit.  Clueless women (no moronettes included) imagine Obama actually DID something, which we know he did not.

Anyway, despite my thinking, the poll points out that men have been hit exceptionally hard by job loss,  way more than women.

33 Vicious Second Amendment fan brutally slays peace loving knife wielding man that probably accidentally wandered into the wrong house and wrong bathroom (I'm attempting to write this up as a NYT writer would likely cover it):

A Gwinnett County woman shot and killed Puentes Wednesday morning after the knife-wielding man attacked her in the shower, police said.

The incident happened about 6:30 a.m. at a home in the 2800 block of East Mount Tabor Circle.

Gwinnett police Cpl. Edwin Ritter told the AJC that the woman, who is in her early 50s, was getting out of the shower when the intruder, who she did not know, turned out the lights and attacked her.

This from your Malkin/Townhall link:

So how, despite a massive transportation and homeland security apparatus, did al-Murisi get into this country and get on a plane? He had no keys, no luggage, $47 cash, two curious posted checks totaling $13,000, and a trove of expired and current state IDs from New York and California -- where relatives said he had not notified them that he was coming. He is young, male, brought no family with him, had no job or other discernible income, and hails from the terror-coddling nation of Yemen. Yes, the same Yemen that is Osama bin Laden's ancestral home, harbors al-Qaida operatives who are burning the "torch of jihad," and is deemed a "special interest country" whose citizens warrant increased scrutiny by DHS when they cross the border illegally.

As I reported last month, a federal watchdog revealed that TSA's counterterrorism specialists failed to detect 16 separate jihad operatives who moved through target airports "on at least 23 different occasions." Neutered by Islamophobia-phobia and an "overtime over security" mentality, our State Department consular offices' and airline security bureaucracy's stance toward the al-Murisis slipping through their snaking lines is:

Nothing to see here; move along.

How much is this TSA child and granny fondling apparatus costing us?

40 Osama wanted to Kill Obama?

Not that I don't trust the White House or ABC News but I would like to read that Intel for myself.

Since when does a news organization take a second hand account with no access to the source document and turn it into a headline? Rhetorical question- I know.

By the way, did they ask if he also wanted to kill Bush? Certainly that would make sense. Bush started the entire War on Terror and has been chasing Usama's scrawy, smelly ass all over the planet.

Don't get me wrong, it sure makes sense that UBL would want to kill US officials. After all people like Saddam wanted to kill Bush. He even put a bounty on Rumsfeld's daughter. Oh, you don't remember that? Of course not.

This sounds like part of convenient deliberately leaked storyline.

46 Watching Brent Bozell of Newsbusters on Fox this morning, he was discussing his Dishonor Awards, and I'd forgotten a couple of gems:

Newsweek reporter on Morning Joe describing Barry as being "above the world, like God."

Reporter on "Hardball" saying Barry "took a step down to become president"

Oh, and I had the pleasure of meeting Brent at a dinner here for Zell Miller several years ago.  I was wearing a button with a picture of an angry Zell that said, "Give 'Em Zell!" and Brent asked where I got it.  I told him there were a few around the room, and took mine off and pinned it on his lapel.  He was quite happy.

May 13 (Bloomberg) -- Global investors say President Barack Obama has done a better job of fighting terrorism than former President George W. Bush, while U.S. investors rate the ex- president higher.

Outside the U.S., Obama is rated stronger than Bush on terrorism, 48 percent to 16 percent, in the Bloomberg Global Poll. Worldwide, Obama has a 40 percent to 29 percent edge in the quarterly poll taken May 9-10 of 1,263 Bloomberg customers who are investors, analysts and traders.

70 New York Times:

Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever op-ed: 'Abandoned on the Border'

As sheriff of Cochise County I am responsible, along with my 86 deputies, for patrolling 83.5 miles of that border, as well as the 6,200 square miles of my county to the north of it — an area more than four times the size of Long Island.

There is no river between Arizona and Mexico to create a natural obstacle to illegal immigration, drug trafficking and human smuggling, and our county is a major corridor for all these. At best, illegal aliens and smugglers trespass, damage ranchersÂ’ land, steal water and food and start fires. At worst, people who have come here hoping for freedom and opportunity are raped or abandoned by smugglers and left to die in the desert.

....

WhatÂ’s more, such critics have a strange impression of what law enforcement officers along the border actually do. In Cochise County, my deputies and I often have to travel many miles to respond to a residentÂ’s call for assistance. The last thing we have time to do is harass law-abiding people.

Indeed, these days we have even less time, as the law has opened up a wave of suits against my office and other sheriff’s offices along the border from immigrant advocacy groups — so many that other sheriffs and I formed a legal defense fund, the Border Sheriffs Association, to help our departments counter them.

Download either Stopzilla (free) or Malware Bytes (free) and run it.

It will drive you nuts trying to get rid of this thing because it keeps popping up while you're going through the steps to get rid of it.  If it's impossible to download either of those, do it from another computer onto a disk and then run that disk on the infected computer.

72 Y-not,  not touting Daniels myself,  as I think he needs an injection of charisma and fire.  Plus I am dead certain they are targeting Cheri, given Politico's picture of her they showed and their snarky comments about her on Twitter.

He is someone who would be a good president,  but probably not a good candidate, I think.  I like him as governor,  but everything he did with success here would probably be difficult to implement nationally.

Plus he is VERY short:  5'7".  In our superficial modern culture,  that is difficult to deal with.

The religion of peace, everyone.  Tell me again how not releasing the bin Laden photos has helped keep the Muslim street from flaming up?

If health care is a "right" then it naturally follows, and this applies to any so-called positive right, in order to assure access to the "right" then it becomes necessary to force someone to do the job for whatever price is set by the government.

It's not a coincidence that the signal accomplishment of Communist nations is walls to keep people in.

Of course it's really simple to just demagogue the notion of a "right" to healthcare and let the patients form long lines for everything, which is the usual practice.  Make the line long enough and you have the right to die before you ever get triage.

It helps when those in favor of centralized healthcare want to reduce the population for Mother Gaia anyway.  It's a feature not a bug.

But EPA released its endangerment finding, which immediately faced an appeals court challenge.

As Obama's much-touted "science-based policy" rotted into "policy-based science," Big Green sycophants praised the administration in a quarter-page Washington Post ad.

And so we got Hushgate. That was two years ago. Two weeks ago, Carlin's report, updated, expanded, and peer-reviewed, was published in the respected International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.

Carlin's 47-page, no-nonsense report rips computer modeling, false comparisons between hypotheses and real-world data, and efforts to manipulate climate measurements.

Main points: The economic benefits of reducing CO2 emissions are vastly lower than EPA estimates, and the costs are vastly higher. Conclusion: "the risk of catastrophic anthropogenic global warming appears to be so low that it is not currently worth doing anything to try to control it."

As it's starting back up, hit the F8 key.  A screen will appear with options....select 'safe mode'.  This only loads the basic minimum to run the computer but it should allow you to get rid of the virus without it popping up on you.

Gates: SEALs who killed bin Laden are concerned for their safety

Oh, THIS is rich (emphasis mine):

“We are very concerned about the security of our families — of your families and our troops, and also these elite units that are engaged in things like that. And without getting into any details . . . I would tell you that when I met with the team last Thursday, they expressed a concern about that, and particularly with respect to their families,” Gates told the audience.

“Frankly, a week ago Sunday, in the Situation Room, we all agreed that we would not release any operational details from the effort to take out bin Laden. That all fell apart on Monday, the next day.”

NO. SHIT. SHERLOCK.  Maybe you all could have made it a point of telling everyone to keep their traps shut or face some consequences, starting with the g*ddamn President.  And don't get me started on Loose Lips Biden...

99 He is someone who would be a good president,  but probably not a good candidate, I think.
----

Yes, I think that's one of the biggest problems.  Things like saying he's not ready to debate the POTUS on foreign policy concern me.  (To me, the right answer to that question was to say that he has a set of core principles re foreign policy which he would apply to specific situations and to outline those principles - and then he could allow himself the "honesty" of saying he's studying the specifics now.) I am a little worried about how he'd govern with such a divided country, but I think his conservative credentials are ok and that the folks who are acting like he's a major RINO have ulterior motives for doing so.

I am not enthusiastic about our other options and am very disappointed by Mitt's stubbornness on health care, so Daniels may be my best bet at this point.  Perhaps once he really enters the race and lays out an agenda, I'll be more enthusiastic.

103 Hey momma, so sorry about your computer. That happened to ours a few years ago and I just sucked it up and took it to a computer "cleaner." For bout fifty bucks, they cleaned all the viruses out and installed good malware. We haven't had a problem since. Of course, that was when my kids were little- my son could do it for us for free now. I also want to thank you for your prayers for my brother and his family. You seem to hit on all the issues he has been dealing with. They recently sold a ranch on the Texas-Mexico border for pennies, because drug cartels came in and made life miserable for them-between using the land for human smuggling, stealing their animals for food, or just killing them for the fun of it. So, thanks for thinking of my family. Anytime you need prayer, just ask. (Actually, any of the 'rons and 'ettes can ask. )

From Marketwatch:

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — The prices that American consumers paid for goods and services rose 0.4% in April, with higher gasoline costs accounting for more than half the increase, the government reported Friday.

Economists surveyed by MarketWatch had expected the consumer-price index, which tracks the cost of living, to increase 0.4% in April.

Consumer prices have jumped an unadjusted 3.2% over the past year, the largest 12-month increase since October 2008. As recently as November, the 12-month increase was 1.1%.

Surging oil prices accounted for the bulk of the CPI increase, as the energy index jumped 2.2% last month. Energy prices have leaped 19% — and gas has surged 33% — over the past 12 months. As a result, the cost of gas now tops $4 a gallon in many parts of the U.S.

Food prices rose 0.4% last month, but that was smaller than MarchÂ’s 0.8% increase. The slower increase in food costs stemmed from declining prices of fresh vegetables.

Still, food costs have climbed 3.2% over the past 12 months.

111 113-I think it's the old game of "something cool happened and I want to be part of it." So, everyone that was involved in the operation, tangentially or otherwise, wants credit for the big take-down. I'm sure psych majors have terms/syndromes that explain this, but ultimately, everyone wants to be part of the cool club and say their piece about it. They forget that when they signed on to this work, they swore to keep their pieholes shut. And yes, this probably will endanger these people. But the brass don't seem to care, since they are "cool." Just my 2 cents worth-I could be wrong.

116 Could you explain that to me, please?  Do you mean expenditures or income?

My understanding is that the rate of growth of expenditures was cut in half.  Since Republicans took the house in the 94 election we have had a never ending series of failures to do any better than reduce the rate of growth.  Boehner is the same, by making cuts that are smaller than the interest on the debt he too is only reducing the rate of growth.  Both parties consist largely of crack whores with no vision beyond the next spending fix which has to be bigger than the last one.
