Australia is considering awarding carbon credits for killing feral camels as a way to tackle climate change.

CME Group eyes Illinois exit; Emanuel confident it will stay
This story was breaking yesterday (w/o the BS from Emanuel) but on F&F this morning they added Caterpillar to the list of companies that are looking at bailing from IL since they raised taxes. Believe it or not F&F blamed it on the UNIONS. They said that while all the rest of the States resisted raising taxes and cut spending instead (I don’t think it was all), IL under pressure from the unions who didn’t want any “service cuts” raised taxes.
We here at AOSHQ have been saying this for months now, you can NOT raise revenues by raising taxes!

Senior Senate Democrats are growing frustrated by what they see as President ObamaÂ’s passivity on the economy, and are beginning to discuss a large infrastructure package funded by tax increases.

Even more stupid from the commies, this one in the House
House Dems to call for expiration of Bush tax rates in debt-limit dealDemocrats lie, when you make a “deal” with them they will always reneg, usually before even completing the deal. Here they want to reneg after the deal is complete. To the 52% of stupid people out there who voted for Dems last time know this. You can not trust these communist assholes, even if you pay zero taxes and a re a leech on the rest of us. They will still screw you in the end.

I just loves me them ethical dilemmas
between reporting about an innocent relative by birth (daughter and
son) of a Republican candidate and reporting about an innocent
relative by marriage of a elected Democrat Congressman. As an aside, the candidate has yet to be shown to have engaged in any shady unethical behavior, while the Congressman was known to have misused his office, lied to the public, defamed other parties, and engaged in very inappropriate behavior, not that that is relevant.

Yet another warning on the consequences of nominating Romney (or another squish)
If Mitt Romney wins the Republican nomination for president, Tea Party activists may not show up at all to vote in the general election, one leading group associated with the Tea Party movement is warning. “I think that’s a potential problem,” said Matt Kibbe, FreedomWorks’ president, during a wide-ranging interview with reporters at The Daily Caller.I have been warning of this for over a year now. This is a real possibility folks.

The scary thing about this is that regulations can be written and enforced without essentially zero review and appeal, yet they have the force of law. At least with legislation, I can bitch to my Representative and Senators (not that that seems to have any beneficial effect lately as I can't even find out when or if my Rep is meeting with constituents).
The people in O's administration are destructive idiots and we have handed them unbelievable power to intrude into every aspect of our lives, and 50% are probably going to be willing to do it again in '12.

And they don't even show, publicize, or even provide an available link to their work to show the justification. That is what ticks me off. The last time they had to show their "work" it was in a court battle over second hand smoke.
The judge literally threw them out of court. They lost that single case but continued using their lying "finding" and to this day that discredited study is still used by the anti-smoking Nazis across the country.

Washington Times pushing Romney for us.
In the past month, Mitt Romney has delivered a widely panned defense of the health care legislation he signed as governor of Massachusetts and been the constant target of national Democratic attacks — and also has seen his poll numbers rise and his status solidified as the best-positioned candidate to win the GOP nomination and take on President Obama.
That PPP poll (if you followed it all the way to the pdf with detailed discussion) said that RomneyÂ’s numbers went up only because Huck dropped out. They said his unfavorable ratings were increasing showing a loss of momentum. My opinion is that he is riding strictly on name recognition right now.

GovernmentÂ’s espionage case against NSA official stumbles
Government prosecutors announced a last-minute plea bargain Thursday evening in a high-profile leak case against a senior National Security Agency official, dropping almost all the charges in a decision hailed by government-transparency advocates as ending a case of Obama administration overreach.
Who are these lying shit-weasels trying to kid. Holder and the corrupt DOJ are not interested in prosecuting ANY people who leak classified material to the press unless it hurts Obama. This is just another case that the DOJ has decided to drop.

An eye-opening example of how politics trumps science at the regulatory agencies
WASHINGTON—The U.S.'s top nuclear-power regulator "strategically" withheld information from his colleagues in an effort to stop work on a controversial proposed waste dump, according to a report by the agency's internal watchdog, a finding likely to inflame debate about how to handle the nation's nuclear waste.
This is how the Dems continue to try to subvert nuclear power in this country even while spewing rhetoric that they supposedly support it. This guy worked under the laughing stock of MA, Ed Markey. Ed Markey has been spewing anti-nuke hate for decades. After working for Markey he went on to work for Harry Reid who not only hates nuke power but has a burning passion to shut down Yucca Mountain. So what do they do with this lifelong Democrat who was raised politically to hate Nuke Power?
They make him the Chairman
of the NRC. And you wonder why this country is so fucked up and going into
terminal DOOM.
This is also why I am in favor of killing every federal regulatory agency and starting over from scratch.

Posted by: Case at June 10, 2011 07:49 AM (0K+Kw)
Ahhh, but here's the thing. They know full well we won't shut them down. We can't. They're doing two things. First, shoring up the votes of the "green" lunatics. Second, setting themselves up to drain the public some more by selling "carbon credits" and other pollution related offsets to the power companies - the cost of which will be passed on to us. It's a money scam - just like everything they do. They'd even abandon abortion if it didn't bring in so much cash. They're just dirty thieves.
My hope is that they over-reach and go too far, setting off a... vigorous... reaction against them. The civil war has already started - our side just doesn't know it yet. Hopefully the Left will get greedy, and wake us up.

Having thought as hard as I can to explain the track and trend of geopolitical affairs away, the only conclusion I have found is that there are Powers and Principalities at work. People just aren't that smart and commited to such a vastly complex, diabolical, and effectively successful conspiracy.

Agree that people aren't that smart, especially liberals, but a lot of individuals empowered to act criminally in their own interests, backed by the force of government, and unchecked by the people, can do tremendous damage without requiring complex conspiracies.

Re Delta and the baggage fees:
I didn't learn much. One thing to note is that Delta increased the "free" number of bags for deploying/returning peeps to 4. Guess what? Sometimes people are required to have 5 bags!
So they deserve the bad publicity, in my grumpy opinion.
This isn't a new thing, just got noticed finally.
It doesn't make them look nice. I have to say again, though, I sure have benefited from this:
Active U.S. Military personnel are allowed to check three pieces of baggage free of charge when traveling on personal business or pleasure. So your tax dollars pay for "extra" bags and I get a discount when I fly.

Could Weiner have "info" on Pelosi, et al, that he is going to use as blackmail to keep his seat? He seems to be digging in on not resigning, and we all know that politicians collect information on each other (Hannity had a republican congressman on last night who said Emmanual outed him), so Weiner may know something about Pelosi.

Here's more proof:
.....Ahmed Hussein Mahamud was arrested Thursday in Columbus, Ohio, and made his initial appearance in federal court there on charges of providing material support to terrorists. An indictment unsealed Thursday says that from April 2009 to July 2009, Mahamud provided money and personnel to al-Shabab.

If anything was going to crack the "Religion of Peace" monolithic liberal narrative, you might have thought that just maybe when a muzzie murdered a reporter the media would rally around the death of one of their own and start reporting a little truth. You would have thought wrong. The narrative lives, murderous Islamic rage had nothing to do with the murder but I guess it is remarkable that NPR even covered the trial of Yusuf Bey IV and actually mentioned the name of his business "Your Black Muslim Bakery".

Especially since under the new rules these are now split delegate/proportional States while all the rest are winner take all. Iowa and NH were always worth little in the delegate department but SC was more important in the delegate count. Now none of the matter for anything but perceived momentum.

Soaring feed costs may lead to hog herd culls
DES MOINES, Iowa – US hog producers may begin culling herds as the sputtering economic recovery stymies pork demand while tightening corn inventories increase livestock-feed prices — thus, curbing animal supplies and increasing costs for meatpackers, according to Bloomberg.
Wholesale pork has dropped 9.6 percent since May 16 from the highest price since at least October 1997. However, corn gained 9.5 percent. Hog producers are faced with record production costs, based on current futures prices, said Steve Meyer, president of Paragon Economics, at the Work Pork Expo in Des Moines, Iowa...
...From October 2007 to February 2010, hog producers lost about $6.2 billion primarily due to high feed costs, Plain said...
...As a result, shoppers in the US could pay as much as 7.5 percent more for pork in 2011.

Weiner has also complained to friends that he wasn’t sure how he would make a living if he were to leave Congress and its $174,000 annual salary. “He’s worried about money and how to pay his bills,” said a Democratic insider. “He’s very concerned about that.”

Hmm. Good point. But don't many of the people in these things later become convention delegates? If so, then he is taking a calculated risk that he won't alienate them. And many of them become the backbone of the state organizations. Even if his calculation plays outs at the convention, he may lose the GOTV effort at the state level. And we already know that the GOP isn't raising the funds and getting the volunteers that it once did, so counting on that is foolish.

So, there really is no true upside to Mitt doing a straw poll. Its really more of an upside for the Pawlenty, Santourum, Bachmann crowd. Gingrich, if he is still in it, has the real incentive, just to show he is still viable (he isn't).

The question isn't if it makes sense to skip the straw poll (maybe it does), it's why you would do that and support an ethanol subsidy.
By skipping the straw poll, he's pissed off Iowans. Now if you are going to piss off Iowans anyway, why would you come out in favor of an ethanol subsidy the rest of the country hates? I highly doubt Mitt truly believes ethanol should be subsidized.

North Korean defectors take the "Underground Railroad" to Thailand
And from there they're generally handed over to the South Korean embassy. Reading the stories is just... painful.
As they did nearly one decade ago, refugees continue to drift across the Mekong River at a port near SugintÂ’s home office, he said. But they are seldom as panicked and ragged as they once were.
He recalled a refugee years ago who was held at a police station for several hours until a bewildered cop, unable to communicate with the detainee, rolled back the cell doors and signaled for him to walk out. The frightened man gripped his seat and refused to budge.
“Now, they seem more relaxed, look clean and can even speak a little Chinese,” said Sugint, who has made a hobby of helping them fall into police custody safely. He’s even prodded his son to learn Korean and serve as the family’s pro bono translator.

The 1967 Six-Day War
/That Israel survived this was indeed a miracle, but this victory was also the result of superior Israeli tactics. The outcome might have been vastly different had the IDF not commenced a pre-emptive strike on the Egyptian Air Force, thus providing the IDF with air superiority.

Being a skeptic of the MSM sponsored national polls and of the propagandizing government figures does not make my skepticism a "conspiracy theory". That makes as much sense as arguing agnosticism the equivalent of atheism.
These past years, Palin managed to stay in the news while Romney was not out front stomping the news on issues and events since losing his '08 campaign.
Sure, Romney campaigned for McCain's Senate re-election, enabling McCain to pursue his queerly elitist ideology to dominate the population through authoritarian legislative efforts (no more over-the-counter vitamins, minerals or herbal supplements). And Romney showed up for his own rallies. wow
Romney picked up exactly where he left off, pandering, "promise them anything" for the vote that never materialized last time, and must not this primary, either, because as Mark Levin points out, Romney is NOT conservative.
Rather than seriously projecting federal budget cuts, Romney is another pandering big spender whose executive experience proved his poor judgement and poor performance in government, supporting unconstitutional mandates depriving Americans of Liberty and Justice, promoting the tax funded finance for authoritarian federal bureaucracies to kill business, promoting the man made global warming fraud with no scientific merit. Mitt's policies promote American unemployment. His business experience was corporate raiding and now "financing" bail-outs of the corrupt financial industry, destroying the Dollar.

No, Mitt came out after Pawlenty announced he wasn't supporting ethanol to say that yes, he most definitely was. He could have just not mentioned it but he's very bad at this.
As for the 'flip flopper' tag, Mitt announced to all us Massachusetts residents that he would never oppose a "woman's right to choose." Then, he fell off his horse on the way to Damascus. Coincidentally, when he was entering the GOP primary. This isn't a 'changing of position', it's naked pandering. It's why he gets judged harshly when he changes positions .
Mitt is his own worst enemy.

Remind me again why we should want to emulate Europeans?
Guy Verhofstadt, a former Belgian prime minister who now leads the Euro-liberals, is responding to the position of the British Government (and, though he doesnÂ’t mention this, 11 other governments), viz that Brussels should not be whacking up its budget at a time when national administrations are trying to cut theirs.
To remind you, Britain’s net contribution to the EU budget rose by an almost unbelievable 74 per cent in 2010. Far from being grateful, however, Eurocrats have pocketed the concession and are demanding more – demanding it, as you can see, in hectoring and contemptuous tones...
Sorry, Britain. You reap what you sow. I hope you come out of this Euro Union mess intact and solvent, but I fear you're too far 'round the bend.

The Dems repeatedly have trouble looking at the potential problem angle, which you'd think they'd prefer attack dogs who won't cause them trouble. But that's their problem.

I don't agree. Unless someone can prove that he's hurting the party (translation: helping Obama) then he has as much right to run as anyone else. Do I want to see him sent packing? Yes. Let him be trounced in the first primaries /straw polls and/or die the death of poor fund raising.

the everybody into the pool theory is good, during debates and conversations and speeches you learn stuff you wouldn't ordinarily learn about a candidate you think you might like and about other candidates.
which is why i don't understand why they left out that johnson guy who was in the debate on fox and seemed pretty experienced and knowledgeable.
when they start not inviting people then you know they have more say than they should.
also, this morning glenn beck, who has been praising cain up the wazoo basically said he can't be the candidate cause of his remarks about being gay. beck said the opposition would quietly ignore this and let it pass and then make a lot of it when the person became the candidate. sheesh we aren't electing human beings anymore, we are electing pre scripted idiots then.

I agree he has the right to run, but his comments RE: the Ryan Plan were a direct blow to the party. His protest that people are "lying" if they use his own recorded words in anti-Republican campaign ads is the height of foolishness and desperation. If he hadn't had such a disastrous rollout of his campaign, I wouldn't care that he's running. But as it stands now, he's a fallen figure and a distraction. Maybe not a Weiner-level distraction, but a distraction nonetheless.

If Mitt Romney wins the Republican nomination for president, Tea Party activists may not show up at all to vote in the general election, one leading group associated with the Tea Party movement is warning. “I think that’s a potential problem,” said Matt Kibbe, FreedomWorks’ president, during a wide-ranging interview with reporters at The Daily Caller.
I agree with Ben. That's BS and like Mark Levin said, ANYONE BUT THE MARXIST must win the '12 election, and Republicans will vote for the Republican ticket.
Given that ANY Republican candidate, even a die-hard conservative, can beat Obama, then the Republican ticket "needs" liberal Romney even LESS than we needed winnable McCain '08.

I'll vote for Romney in the general, but there is no way he can say or promise anything at this point to get my vote in the primary. I hope Pataki and Rudy jump in to dilute the Mitten's vote until a conservative consensus candidate emerges.
I don't have a friggin clue who I'll vote for in the primary. I do know who I won't vote for:
Gingrich
Trump
Rudy
Huntsman
Paul
Huckabee
Other than that, it's too early to tell.

Yes. On the Gold card the option is no different than carrying a balance on a Visa card. You select the charges that you want to carry and pay the rest off as you would normally.

Tim Pawlenty
Cap and Trade/AGWFrom the white paper:
In 2007, Pawlenty pushed for a regional cap-and-trade plan. He signed the Next Generation Energy Act of 2007 into law, which required the state to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 15 percent by 2015 and 80 percent by 2050. In addition, according to the non-partisan fact check St. Petersburg Times’ Politifact.com, Pawlenty “played a leading role in persuading members of the Midwest Governors Association to sign the Midwestern Regional Greenhouse Gas Reduction Accord, an agreement that the states would develop a cap-and-trade mechanism to achieve greenhouse gas reductions in the area.”
Since then he has backed off of the AGW regulation horse (Crap and Tax).
His current stance is that Cap and Trade was stupid
He renounces Cap and trade, but I do recall a speech he made somewhere where he equivocated on the idea of AGW itself. I canÂ’t find that now. It does appear that he is trying hard to walk back his record on Crap and Tax.
On a scale of -10 to 10 on the AGW issue (Al Gore gets –10) I will give him a zero. This is still a heavy burden for him to overcome.
Gun ControlHe is rated good on Gun Control by the Jawa Report
Also, on the Issue site gives him high marks for Gun Control.
None of this is surprising though. Although MN is a heavy blue State, it is also a big hunting State so being pro gun control there is not healthy for a politician.
But, in the end, he has more than rhetoric backing him up on gun control, he gets high marks here.
Small government in general (spending and regulation)
On taxes club for growth gives him generally good marks, but dings him for a few small tax increases, including a 75 cent a pack cigarette tax, and the fact that a lot of his tax reductions were “carve-outs” for specific companies. I’ll him a plus here.
On spending this is the quote from the white paper:
“Pawlenty’s record on spending while in the state legislature was both good and bad”.
They praise him for his budget cuts and holding the line on spending but then ding him for direct subsidies and bills to support private ventures.
On “tax and spend” I am willing to give him a little slack. He is in a heavy blue State with a Dem legislature and he was able to hold the line on a lot of items. To me that is good so I am going to give a plus here.
On Regulation the quote from the white paper:
“Perhaps more so than any other issue, Pawlenty’s record on regulation is deeply troubling.”
His support for cap and trade, his call for mandating vegetable oil in diesel fuel, his call for raising the min wage in MN, his support for ethanol mandates in MN, and his support of the nanny State smoking ban in MN all gave him bad marks.
So what is the overall verdict for “small government”? Somewhat mixed for tax and spend with mitigation for a Dem legislature and a bad record for support on the heavy hand of government. I give him a neutral here.
Socialized HealthcareOn this his record and rhetoric is mixed. He opposed Obamacare but supported S-CHIP and socialized kid stuff in MN. He urged market solutions for healthcare in MN as governor. His current web site attacks Obamacare hard. IÂ’ll give him a neutral here largely because again we are talking blue-blue here.
Border control/AmnestyHe generally gets high marks on this issue. He did support and sign into law a requirement for electronic verification for State employees in MN. He has called for immigration enforcement as well. I seem to recall though that he offered some kind of compromise on the infamous McCain-Kennedy bill of 2006 but I canÂ’t find it. If any of the Morons have anything on this let me know.
On this IÂ’ll give him a plus.
AbortionFrom On The Issues and Jawa it appears that he has been pro-life in actions, rhetoric, and record.
For the folks who have this as a major concern he gets a plus here.
OVERALLHis biggest hit is support for cap and trade and ethanol mandates. He is now trying to walk that back which is a huge “row to hoe” after so much support for so long. On the other issues his record has good and bad.
From my prospective because of the cap and tax he would not go on my short list but I could support him if it boils down to the end. He is NOT a huge RINO, but neither is he a huge conservative.

The point here is not Pawlenty's position. It's that Romney actively coming out to say he supported subsidies - a position the rest of the country doesn't like much - after Pawlenty said he didn't support them, coupled with a decision to stay out of the straw poll, nets him the worst of both worlds. It is yet more evidence that Romney is a bad campaigner.
I'm also a MA resident and as we both know a Republican does not get elected dog catcher in this state let alone governor without at least giving a passing reference to being pro-choice.
That is well and good, but then you can't expect a pro-life party to make you their nominee. Nobody said Mitt had to run for governor in MA, especially since it was pretty obvious from his term here his goal was the presidency. Again, bad political judgement.
I'm not saying you should support Romney, I'm curious to see what others bring to the table including Perry who I really don't know that well. But pretending we have some pure candidates and some who aren't is silly. They are all politicians.
I never said there were pure candidates. But it seems to me that Romney is the one with the highest negatives, and his positives are tattered old references to Bain capital and the Olympics, which I'm sorry, aren't impressive.

I suppose many of you are wondering why, as the putative leader of some Religion, I'm a Marxist. It is because I have taken this tidbit of Marx's writing to heart. Never a truer word spoken. So now you know.
Religious distress is at the same time the expression of real distress and the protest against real distress. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit of a spiritless situation. It is the opium of the people. The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is required for their real happiness. The demand to give up the illusion about its condition is the demand to give up a condition which needs illusions.

hahhaha my dad is so dad like. When I got my Amex card I was very proud and he said "now don't forget you have to pay it off in full every month". I've done that ever since and never checked if that was true or not cause dad told me. It's too funny but, I'm not in debt so it's all good. but funny, dads are funny.
Dad is right in that AMEX was developed as a charge card rather than a credit card and, far and away, the majority of folks pay off their charges each month. I do. The option to carry a balance is also not awarded to all cardholders and they tightened their policy about a year or two ago because folks were defaulting on them.
If you go to your account online there will be a little link to view the pay it now/pay it later charges. In your Recent Activity, if the option is available, you should be able to select which charges you want to defer.

I'll vote to conserve the Constitution, to prune off burdensome taxation supporting bureaucratic abuses of power and spending.
Having already pointed out Mitt's three strikes, Mark Levin asks Romney supporters to define what makes Romney "conservative".
Gov. Perry also has three strikes against him for abusing his constituents' constitutional rights; 1) deny legal private property rights; 2) for a financial kick-back issuing his executive order to inoculate all girls with a genital wart vaccine causing serious side effects including death; and 3) using false witness to authorize the CPS kidnapping of an entire community of non-adult persons from their homes, denying the parent/child right to communicate while also not providing the children with proper hygiene and emotional well being, even losing track of some of the children taken forcibly into "protective" State custody. Finally, the Texas Tea Party knows Perry to be a smear tactic campaign liar every bit as deceitful as Obama.
As John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison had no previous executive experience prior to serving POTUS terms in office, today's clamor for "political executive experience" of itself is only as valid as the performance in office proves the candidate's record. Poor performance or abuse of powers hardly inspires voters who want to halt authoritarianism and cut taxes while pursuing our First Principles Constitutional Governance.
I'll campaign against Ivy Beleaguering elitists who falsely presume the legitimacy of authoritarian abusive of power in America at MY expense, at your expense, at our expense being the utter demise of our nation. I will also not prioritize chasing wild geese abroad or vain attempts to coerce the re-education of other nations while our American borders and ports are unprotected, and we fail to be sovereign States within a sovereign Nation.
Maybe Herman Cain will be a great president, not trying to get away with what he shouldn't, being too busy in office doing what he should. He has a conservative constitutional platform with solidly productive executive experience.
What a shame that Mark Levin has no desire himself to forfeit his lifestyle to campaign for the office. If Mark Steyn were a natural born American, I'd support him for office. It isn't merely name recognition that would carry the day, but solidly constructive constitutional integrity.

Well, if he's going to the straw poll, 'subsidies for all!', if he's not going to the straw poll, 'down with subsidies!' I fail to see how this half-measure is better.
As we all know, Reagan signed what was at the time the most expansive abortion bill when he was governor of CA. He then changed his position on abortion. Seemed to work ok for him, wouldn't you agree?
It didn't work out for Mitt though, did it?
Not to you, obviously. But somebody out there seems to like him. He is leading in every national poll and he has a commanding lead in NH.
And Giuliani was in the same position at this time in 2007. It's meaningless.
You keep saying he's a bad campaigner but he came in 2nd in his first national race and is now leading the pack.
After he spent 40 million dollars on the primary. He lost Iowa where he had spent a mint to a fat retard with no cash and New Hampshire in his backyard to a guy whose campaign had been declared dead. He bought himself a second (arguably third) place finish. This is not evidence of great campaigning.
Bain Capital not impressive. Olympics not impressive. Did Romney shoot your dog or something?
Can you name another CEO of Bain Capital or another guy who ran the Olympics? Why do we keep picking governors and Senators if these guys are so awesome?
Your take on his abortion stance as well as the actions he took are at the least disingenuous.
You should re-watch the videos of Romney talking about abortion when he was running for governor in MA. I'm not being disingenuous.

I was in a bar with "the young" and no one is paying him for content, no one, well except maybe old people, but no one young and he says he's doing this for the young. the young are used to a different model and he better realize that before he spends all those billions and it's for naught.

Palin tried to set up a committee to look into how to set up a carbon exchange, Pawlenty was a much bigger AGW supporter than Romney and he was a big supporter of ethanol subsidies. MN is one of the top states in terms of ethanol subsidy dollars, right behind Iowa.

Oh, rest assured - the ones they publish won't!
And by the way - the quote in the Blaze article about Politico's invented Palin quote: the "original" article wording they cite has been changed!!
Now they claim it said "Palin’s bus tour had some of the hallmarks of a primal scream: “I built this constituency, not Bachmann, not anyone else.” Looking at it through her eyes, she has a point.
But it actually read "Palin’s bus tour had some of the hallmarks of a primal scream: “I built this constituency, not Bachmann, not anyone else.” she said. Looking at it through her eyes, she has a point.
