Politicians are incredibly stupid when it comes to economic matters

Here the commie rags bemoans luxury yachts that are docked in Charleston who go through elaborate rituals to remain registered out of State. Why? Because South Carolina has some of the highest property taxes in the country on cars and boats. For a multi-million dollar yacht we are not talking about small change here.

The idiots never stop and figure what will happen when they raise taxes to a much greater level than the locations surrounding them.

10 The concept of being bound by a Constitution is far too constraining when you are an elite and you really do know exactly how to run the universe.

11 Why not "let" prices and wages fall?  That's kind of impossible to do when you are borrowing a trillion dollars a year from yourself.

IOW when you are printing money like Argentina in the bad old days prices will not fall because the money becomes worthless.

Real inflation in this country is hitting on 10%.

And wages????  Real wages have been falling faster than Obama's chances of reelection. They are falling because hours are being cut back and the unemployed are taking shit jobs after unemployment runs out.

I buy the cheap bread when I go grocery shopping.  The cheap, lowest priced crappy store brand wheat bread.  It's actually not that bad, it's passable, but there's so much better.

Usually, it's $0.89 cents.  This past weekend I noticed it was $1.18.

A 26% price increase.

Twenty-six.  Two six.

And for me?  I don't make a lot of money.  That's a big deal for me.

I disagree with Ron Paul.  Forget merely auditing the Fed.  Burn it to the f*cking ground.

20 One thing to keep in mind about "The Fed". It is, and always has been, the central component in "The American System". This is the main reason that Andrew Jackson killed the central banking to the displeasure of those who loved cronyism.

This is one more huge casualty of the late war of 1861. When the South left the union the major opponent of this corrupt system left with it. In 1862 The American System took off unimpeded (Lincoln was a major advocate).

It hasn't abated at all since then.

If there's two things you can count on in politicians they are:

1) a strong desire to act on social deviancy to "show their power"....see Weiner, Anthony

2) a naive childlike belief stronger than the Saint's faith in Christ that their bull in a china shop mentality is never a harm to the economy or coffers.

37 @14   Get a bread machine. they're fool-proof and cheap. You don't need anything fancy. I think I paid 40 bucks for one at Walmart. Amazon has cheapies, too.

You can make a much better loaf of white bread for about 35cents/loaf(not including power costs).Throw in some oats, or bran. Buy yeast in a jar @ Amazon, not the expensive little packets.

100% whole wheat, about 65 cents/loaf. 100% whole wheat is more problematic in a machine, so I'd mix half and half white flour & WW.

There's a slight learning curve, but not much of one. You may have a few funny-looking loafs, but they taste fine.

Heck of a lot cheaper, you control the ingredients. Nothing not to like. A couple of minutes to put your mix in the pan is about the only time involved on your end.

Dude.  My local grocery store jacked the price for a head of romaine lettuce to $2.79 from $1.99 a few months ago.  My basic math says that's a 40% increase?

59 I bake all of our bread. Knocked out four loaves of 100% whole wheat in short order Saturday morning. All pre-sliced and in the freezer.

Bread making isn't hard, even by hand. Yes, you have to wait for yeast to do its work, but once you've gone through a few bad loaves, it's fairly straightforward.

I bake for profit, too, though, and I've been doing so a long time. To me, it's simple.

The machine really does make it simple for everyone, though. Even just to make the dough, like for dinner-rolls, cinnamon rolls. Have the machine mix the dough and rise it the first time. Take it out, shape your rolls, second rise and bake.

64 What Did Presidents Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower have in Common?

This is something that should be of great Interest for you to pass around.I didn't know of this until it

Was pointed out to me. Back during the great depression,

Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation Of ALL illegal aliens in

Order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately

Needed work.

Harry Truman deported Over two million illegal aliens after

WWII to create jobs for returning veterans.

In 1954 Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexicans.

The program was calledOperation Wetback. It was done so

WWII and Korean War veterans would have a better chance at

Jobs.It took two years, but they deported Them!

Now, if they could deport the illegal aliens back

Then, they could surely do it today. If you have doubts about

The veracity of this information, enter Operation Wetback into your

Favorite search engine and confirm it for yourself.

Why,You might ask, can't they do this today?Actually the answer is

Quite simple.Hoover , Truman, and Eisenhower were men of honor,

Not untrustworthy politicians looking for votes!

Reminder:

Don't forget to pay your taxes* -

12 to 20 million illegal aliens - are depending on

You!

65 Interesting Secret Service Perspective

From a book about the Secret Service where they reveal an awful lot about the presidents and Vice Presidents ...very interesting. . . . .recap thus far:

JFK and LBJ = Philanderers of the highest order.....both kept a lot of women in White House for affairs. Both set up "early warning" systems for if and when their wives were nearby. Total immoral men. In addition, LBJ was as crude as the day is long.

Nixon = Weird, moral man but very odd and weird. Paranoid etc. Horrible relationship with his family, almost a recluse.

Agnew = nice, decent man, everyone was surprised at his downfall.

Ford = A true gentlemen who treated them with respect and dignity.

Jimmy Carter = A complete phony who would portray one picture of himself to public and very different in private. I.E. Would be shown carrying his own luggage, suit cases were always empty, he kept empty ones just for photo ops. Wanted the people to see him as pious and a non drinker, he and family drank alcohol a lot. Had disdain for the Secret Service, and was very irresponsible with the "football" nuclear codes.Didn't think it was a big deal and would keep military aides at a great distance. Would never acknowledge military or Secret service they were there to serve him.

Ronald Reagan = The real deal. Moral, Honest, respectful and dignified. Treated Secret Service and everyone else with respect and honor. Would always thank everyone all the time. He took the time to know everyone on a personal level. One story was early on in Presidency, the President came out of his room with a side arm attached to his hip. The Agent in charge said "Why the pistol Mr. President."Ronald Reagan replied, "In case you boys can't get the job done, I can help."It was common for him to carry a pistol. People do not know that when he met with Gorbachev, he had a pistol in his briefcase. Upon learning that Gary Hart was caught with Donna Rice during the election Ronald Reagan said, "Boys will be boys, but boys will not be President."

Nancy Reagan = Very nice but very protective of the President....the Secret Service was always caught in the middle. Nancy would try to control what the President ate all the time (healthy) and he would say to the Agents "come on you gotta help me out." The Reagans rarely drank alcohol. Secret Service said they could count on one hand the times the Reagans were served alcohol other than wine during dinner. They made the comment for all the fake bluster of the Carters it was the Reagans who lived life as genuinely moral people.

George and Barbara Bush = Extremely kind and considerate. Always respectful. Took great care in making sure the agents comforts were taken care of. They would bring them meals etc. One time Barbara Bush brought warm clothes to agents standing outside a Kennebunkport. One agent who was given a warm hat tried to nicely say no thanks when he was obviously freezing and President Bush said "Son, don't argue with the first lady, put the hat on."

Bill Clinton = Presidency was one giant party. Not trustworthy, he was nice because he wanted everyone to like him but life is just one big game and party to him.

Hillary Clinton = Another phony. Personality would change the instant cameras were near. She hated with open disdain the military and Secret Service. Again another one who felt people are there to serve her. She was always trying to keep tabs on Bill Clinton..

Al Gore = An egotistical ass who was once overheard by his Secret Service detail when he told his son he needed to do better in school or he "would end up like these guys" and pointed to the agents.

G W Bush = They loved him and Laura Bush. They said no one is a nicer person than Laura Bush who never has a harsh word to say about anyone. The Bush's went out of their way to take care of the Secret Service and made sure they were well cared for with meals and other comforts. GW was the most prompt of the Presidents. He ran like a well oiled machine. He was also the most in shape who had a very strict work out regimen. The Bush's made sure their entire administration understood to respect and be considerate of the Secret Service.

Karl Rove was the one who was the most caring of the Secret Service in the administration.

Barack Obama - Clintons all over again - hates the military and looks down on the Secret Service.

Well other than having to buy a new car on the way up, it went well. My truck threw a rod on the way up, so I had to get a car in MD. lol

But I had good games, got picked for regional finals this weekend, and have an outside shot at going to nationals if I do very well.

The hotel was scary, and the gift was ok, but it was worth it for the comitation. Lots of good soccer, and some not so good games too.

84 My cheap tips: I eat frozen dinners instead of cafeteria at work. To be somewhat healthy I buy frozen veggies and add a serving or 2 to the cheap entrees instead of buying the $$ brands to get veggies. I will also make a big batch of rice and then add some pre-cooked meat and frozen veggies and microwave at work. And I always read the price tags. Often a smaller size on sale is cheaper per oz than the larger size. Target has had the 1 lb rice for .77 cents. 2 lbs 2.04, 5 lbs is 4.##. This isn't even a sale its their normal pricing for the past couple months.

85 There is a reason people quit making bread from scratch at home.

It is time consuming for me..mostly because I'm not that skilled at it (because I never really had to be).  It can also be intimidating, unless you're lucky enough to have your grandma or old sewing circle ladies at your disposal.

However, I do have a bread machine.  It is very easy to make a loaf of bread using it.  You add your ingredients in the sequence you're supposed to, turn it on and you're done.  It's pretty foolproof.  Your bread may not look as "perfect" as the store bread, but there's no comparison in taste.

86 The bread racks at BigLots is where I get my bread these days. It's usually two or three days away from the sell-by date, but it all goes in the freezer anyways. $1.60 for Rye bread. Thomas Raisin bread makes the best french toast.

Hey, question for the moronettes:

Why do women love having their nails "done" so much?

I do not like getting my nails done for a couple reasons.  1) it is a huge waste of money, especially when I do a pretty nice job doing my own and 2) getting pedicures in tubs where lots of other gross feet have been gives me the serious heebie jeebies.  I once got a toenail fungus from a pedicure that took a couple years to get rid of.

I've made bread from scratch for years, but the machine really makes it easy.  And if you don't like the shape of the loaf in the machine, you simply have it go thru the rising phase, then take it out and put it in the oven free form, or whatever.

That's probably the greatest thing about bread machines.. I can make pizza dough from scratch (using quick-rise yeast) in less than an hour.  I make the best damn pizza.

............
Unfortunately, Rep Roe is wrong.

While the president claims his board will help reduce the deficit, the latest decision by NICE in Britain illustrates the likely way such deficit savings could be achieved: rationing care.

ItÂ’s easy for a board to deny funding for care. But what if youÂ’re the patient with leukemia, or a doctor trying to offer the best care? NICEÂ’s decision ignores quality of care if the treatment is deemed too expensive by the medical boardÂ’s standard.

Decisions like these are what the IPAB will have the authority to make.

Rationing is the ONLY way to cut costs.  That is exactly what Ryan's plan does.  He simply makes private insurers the rationers and decision makers, rather than making the federal government the bad guy.

People will get less care and more denials from private insurers.  It is basic economics.  Ryan's plan assumes some magical free-market forces will make doctors and hospitals and big pharma lower their prices just because a private insurer is sending the check rather than the feds.  Silly.

B) Spend 20 minutes on your national radio show defending yourself against said accusation? Mr. Beck, methinks you doth protest too much.

159 yeah, but the first thing they determine is if you have standing.  Mexico doesn't.

Standing itself is a damn artificial construct by the courts. It is granted or withheld based on the the judge(es) in question and their political opinion. The judge they went shopping for in this suit, which Mexico joined, is a liberal Clinton appointee.

Trust me, they will get "standing".

"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn died in a car crash in Pennsylvania early this morning ... TMZ has confirmed with Bam Margera's mother.

34-year-old Dunn appeared in all of the "Jackass" movies -- famously shoving a toy car into his rectum in the first flick back in 2002.

Dunn and an unidentified person both died in the crash which happened around 3 a.m. at Route 322 and New Street in West Goshen Township. It's unclear who was driving the car.

Really not the way you picture one of the Jackass crew going out.

161 Someone Hasn't Submitted their Resignation Letter To Boehner After seeing way, way more of Anthony Weiner than I ever really cared to, he is an ugly dude. Big nose, flaring nostrils and beady eyes.. It's as if he's overcompensating for being such a dweeb in high school.. Now he's a dweeb who's obsessed with taking pictures of himself.. Where his only shot at women who are way out of his league would be from a position of political power.. (with his looks, in show business, he would only be able to get supporting, character roles) I picture him crying in the corner as some freshman, saying to himself, "I'll show them. I'll show them all one day when I'll run this town." Betcha he had an enemies list..

164 Rationing is the ONLY way to cut costs.

As long as we're using other peoples money to keep the Grim Reaper at bay we'll spend every cent we can get for every breath more often than not.  And as long as that revenue stream is the biggest, most profitable and has the highest collection rates that is what the medical industry will deliver.

166 My out-of-work writer/sister wrote this for Father's Day.  It's beautiful, I think (Daddy is still spinning in his grave over her politics, though).

Weeks after you were buried, I came alone and played Pavarotti for you. "The fat guy with the great set of pipes," you used to call him. I brought the Walkman I had given you one Father's Day, and those tinny little speakers. If anyone had been watching, they'd have seen a woman kneeling on new grass, looking furtively about, embarrassed. There was a jogger on the path. I waited. I fussed with the flowers.

When I knew we were alone, I set the speakers on your headstone and played Nessun Dorma. Softly at first, a tentative offering; then a second time, louder. A third time, and the world went soft focus: a salt-stung blur of sky and blossoms, the hum of summer insects; more than one beloved voice. The fat guy with the pipes.

I spoke to you in whispers, as I had on the night you lay dying. "Are you here?" You must be, there is so much to tell you. While Pavarotti sang for us, I told you my secret and asked your forgiveness.

I ask again now. I ask as often as I remember. When I play Pavarotti, I sometimes find your answer in my heart. We smile.

Then we sleep.

So I should put the brakes on this?

In all seriousness, I'm familar with rt.322. Parts of it are old and windy, composed of roadways hundreds of years old. And it sees heavy use. And there are parts with many deer. It has a rather high accident/death rate. I believe that it's on a list of 'deadly' roads.

175 176. Blue Hen I thought it was a funny joke. Not "too soon" for a Jackass. That stretch is Deer Central. That said, it was 3am and I'm sure they had been partying a little. But deer fly across right exactly there (there's a little creek there) all the damn time.

Posted by: BlackOrchid at June 20, 2011 07:12 AM (SB0V2)

176 I don't really get that idea, how could you NOT have standing (cause?) to sue in this case?

There are some very limited instances involving religious stuff where they will grant standing based on tax money, but they are very damn few and special cases.

When I read the ruling on the general applicability, and no I don't remember the case, it struck me that what they were trying to do was prevent a flood of cases in which tax payers sued because they thought their taxes were not being spent correctly.

The original case on taxpayer standing - Frothingham v Mellon (1923)

The religious exception case - Flast v Cohen (196

You can see how the minds of the liberal courts work here. But now my understanding is that more recent cases have chipped away at Cohen.

Posted by: Vic at June 20, 2011 07:32 AM (M9Ie6)

179 The thing most illustrated by both of those cases is how "standing" is manipulated according to the political whims of the justices.

When the State of Indiana was cheated out of their preferred status bond on the GM/Chrysler bankruptcy and the federal court refused them "standing" it was apparent that the rule of law in this administration was non-existent.

But what struck me there was why didn't Indiana take in on to the Supremes? (Can you say under the table and radar deal?)

185 Over the weekend at IndieWire they had an article on upcoming films, and they said, and I quote, "Kicking things off is ÒThe Iron LadyÓ which stars Meryl Streep as former (and reviled) Brit leader Margaret Thatcher." Yup, "reviled." I know I know, an indie website making bad comments about a conservative politician is about as shocking a concept as water being wet, but I laughed that they didn't even try to hide a hint of bias. Not one. Pretty sure the movie is going to be a hit piece and everyone knows it. Thought it might be relevant due to the Thatcher link on the ONT last night. http://tinyurl.com/3olekcw
