— andy Gabe's out doing lawyer stuff this morning. Allegedly.
Mark Cuban handled his Dallas Mavericks' winning their first NBA championship with great humility, especially by the standards set during his 11 years as an outspoken -- and occasionally obnoxious -- owner. However, Cuban couldn't resist rubbing it in the face of former Mavericks owner Ross Perot Jr. via the Dallas County courts system.
Mark Cuban's lawyers submitted this visual support Wednesday as part of a four-page court filing (see below) asking for a 2009 lawsuit filed by former owner Ross Perot Jr. to be dismissed.

Also, Dirk's cool, but Chandler and Marion are weak-o-la. If it hadn't been for the Jet the Mavs would have gone down to The Decision-maker and Crew. LMAO at the Heat for dropping that kind of coin on players and a coronation and then not winning.
Not a lot to root for in this world sometimes.

Hard work and learning the English language do not reward an illegal alien with automatic citizenship. TRY THE APPLICATION PROCESS, the "minor" technicality that everyone ignores. Where do they get these announcers? Must one speak in dialect and tone as if one has always lived in Georgetown, attended Sidwell Friends, then someplace like Vassar, then Yale Law?

Worst: 45. Massachusetts, 46. Michigan, 47. NJ, 48. Illinois, 49. New York, 50. California

June 23 (Bloomberg) -- More Americans than forecast filed first-time claims for unemployment insurance payments last week, showing companies are less confident about the expansion than they were earlier this year.
Applications for jobless benefits increased 9,000 in the week ended June 18 to 429,000, Labor Department figures showed today. The level of claims exceeded the highest estimate in a Bloomberg News survey in which the median projection called for 415,000 filings. The number of people on benefit rolls was little changed, while those getting extended payments rose.
Is this a bump in the road or headwinds?

'Cars 2' Takes Hard Left Turn Pushing Alternative Energy
In an interview with Wall Street Journal's Ethan Smith, "Cars 2" director explains his transformation of the film into a story about the "bad guys" of big oil.
We revamped the whole story, the whole bad-guy arc. To me, there always needs to be a logic to our movies. No matter what subject matter it is, they have to be logical for the world we’re creating. I kept thinking about, “OK. A spy movie in the world where cars are alive. What would be a really good kind of über bad guy? Who is an über bad guy?” I kept going to big oil. This is before what happened in the Gulf of Mexico. Why isn’t alternative fuel more… Why isn’t everybody jumping on that bandwagon? It makes so much sense: Electricity, solar, whatever. There’s ethanol. There’s all this stuff you could be doing. And so I thought, well, that could be really cool in that you could have big oil versus alternative fuel. That’s when we kind of crafted the bad guy’s story. The movie's trailer even says "On their next big road trip, they're not only racing across the world, they're racing to save the world."

2010 OBAMA AFGHANISTAN SURGE: U.S. Casualty Rate Has Increased 5-Fold Since Bush...
Bush era's 6.5 deaths per month vs. Obama's 33.3 deaths per month, with Afghanistan being only the first of Obama's many simultaneous wars. Of the current 100,000 troops there, more than one a day are killed. The 970 U.S. casualties that have occurred while President Obama has been commander in chief equal 63 percent--or almost two-thirds—of all U.S. casualties that have taken place in the nearly-ten-year-long war. CNSNews.com’s database of U.S. military fatalities in Afghanistan is derived from official casualty reports issued by the Department of Defense (DOD) augmented by information taken from media accounts. The database includes all U.S. troops who died in and around Afghanistan while supporting military efforts against terrorism under Operation Enduring Freedom. It also includes some Americans who died in Pakistan and others who died in the Arabian Sea while supporting operations in Afghanistan.

June 23 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama, announcing a reduction of 33,000 troops in Afghanistan by September 2012, said it was “time to focus on nation-building at home” and offered a “centered course” for U.S. military engagement that he said would be rooted in pragmatism.

Given alliance with China, it's best to work from the premise that Iran already has nuclear weapons/missiles.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Ayatollah Iranian top dog power struggle vs. Dinnerjacket (witchcraft) isn't just a media distraction.
Obama's administration/media will never rock Obama's share plan with China. It would likely take a Wikileaks to expose Iran's circumstances. Has any entity kept in touch with Iran's anti-clerical population?
When GWB/Rumsfeld first announced their invasive Iraqi War, their military premise was to establish a military base from which to defend the US from Iran. Instead, what America has is a spread-out military engagement through all of the Mid-East, while our Military was already trimmed by Clinton, Rumsfeld, Gates et al. to only engage two simultaneous fronts with no completed new fleets. And there is no US military installation from which to conduct US warfare against Iran in independent Iraq.
And that doesn't even begin to address the 360 degree WTF US Foreign Policy; from Reagan's support of the Taliban, through the GWBush wars against al-Qaeda and the Taliban, to Obama's present alliances with al-Qaeda and negotiations with the Taliban.
As Fred Thompson warned, look far into the future before determining Policy because we're always stuck with the outcome.

Yet not a single Republican spoke up in favor of the McCain-Kerry authorization, Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.) said."
Bloomberg has a poll claiming that only 34% of Americans believe they would be better-off under the R plan to reform Medicare, while 57% say worse-off. While Rep. Ryan now has the 3rd-highest unfavorables of any R, 50+% have no opinion on him whatsoever. Considering the poll also states that voters feel Obama has a better economic plan, it's probably skewed D.

2. To make sure that when we have to replace the reserve due to dispruption, we either will not be able to (leaving us SOL for moving troops) OR we will have to do so at very much higher prices, adding even more to the national debt.

#156 Given alliance with China, it's best to work from the premise that Iran already has nuclear weapons/missiles.
Perhaps this is the wisest way to view Iran; it could be all that Iran is waiting for to "offically" become nuclear is the capability to produce several crude warheads. If I was in the position of Iran, I'd wait until I had at least a half-dozen nuke warheads (untested, but I'd have enough modeling data to suggest at least a 50% chance of fission upon denotation) and stragetic missiles in place before initiating a surprise nuclear test.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Ayatollah Iranian top dog power struggle vs. Dinnerjacket (witchcraft) isn't just a media distraction.
Again, that is a very good point. It would make outsiders think a rift exists in the Iranian High Command where none exists.

Yep. Happens all the time. If it's a statute that Scotus has ruled on they can just pass a new law.. If they've ruled on the constitutionality of a law then congress can override it with a constitutional amendment. However, this last is almost impossible because the easy way to pass an amendment is with ratification by the states which ain't gonna happen with Obamacare or any Obamamarxistextravaganza.

Cuban has arguably had the greatest image makeover after winning the championship, starting with having the original owner accept the championship trophy from the silver-haired fuck. The screw job on the Mavs by Stern's crew of crooked zebras in 2006 was almost enough to get me to say "To Hell with the NBA" but this year made up for all of that. After the first round I was fully invested in the Mavs going all the way since it seemed they were on a mission to prove to all the nay-sayers that they weren't as soft as the rap on them stated. They were easy to cheer for because for guys like Kidd, the Matrix and Peja, this was their last chance for a ring. And it didn't escape me that the Mavs won in 6 and that the Jet was, along with Dirk, members of the 2006 team. Regarding the Heat, I get the feeling that Riley is one pissed off SOB at the performance and lack of focus of LBJ and Wade during the Finals; he announced yesterday that Spoelstra will remain in place.
It's hilarious in the filing how the phrase "World Champion Dallas Mavericks" is used over and over. Total entertainment. Perot seems like a miserable cocksucker.

Here's an article on financial repression which are the tools governments have used in the past to pay down high debt levels by stealing from the people in the country that save money. It was a good read.
In part:
Rephrased in less academic terms – the government deliberately destroys the value of money over time, and uses regulations to force a negative rate of return onto investors in inflation-adjusted terms, so that the real wealth of savers shrinks by an average of 3-4% per year (in the postwar historical example), and it uses an assortment of carrots and sticks to make sure investors have no choice but to accept having the purchasing power of their investments shrink each year.

It is especially galling that this has become the norm throughout out nation and people donÂ’t see anything wrong with it and are not rising up in arms.
The state is at risk of losing the federal money because the U.S. Department of Education says South Carolina has not spent enough on special education in the past three years. During that period, lower tax collections resulted in lower spending in many state programs, including special education.
So what is the State doing? Rushing out millions in spending for “special ed” when we are running a huge deficit and are cutting school budgets in every other category. Remember the article a few days ago about several school districts wanting to sell school bond (borrow money) to finance daily operations?

OK, which one of you morons did this:
"Boulder police are looking for a man who hid in the tank of a portable toilet at a yoga festival before running off.
A woman at the Hanuman Festival went into the portable toilet Friday and noticed something moving in the tank when she lifted the lid, according to police spokeswoman Kim Kobel. The woman exited and asked a man nearby to look inside the tank.
The man told police he saw something moving under a tarp, and when he left the toilet he heard it lock from the inside.
A security supervisor then waited outside for the person to emerge. When he did, the supervisor tried to get him to sit down, Kobel said, but he ran off, covered in feces.
The suspect, who was not wearing a shirt or shoes when he came out of the toilet, was described as a white man in his 20s wearing gray sweatpants, around 6-foot-5 to 6-foot-8-inches tall with a skinny build and black hair.
Witnesses also said he had cuts on his back and arms. Some at the festival said he might be a transient who goes by the name "Sky."
Kobel said police are not sure how he was able to squeeze into the tank or what he was doing there. He is being sought on suspicion of criminal attempt to make unlawful sexual contact."

The state is at risk of losing the federal money because the U.S. Department of Education says South Carolina has not spent enough on special education in the past three years. During that period, lower tax collections resulted in lower spending in many state programs, including special education.

A woman at the Hanuman Festival went into the portable toilet Friday and noticed something moving in the tank when she lifted the lid, according to police spokeswoman Kim Kobel. The woman exited and asked a man nearby to look inside the tank.

I think I'm going to spend the day talking about all the benefits of oil. Think I might even leave a website or two open so he can read for himself.
That way he gets the pro-oil meme today and the anti-oil meme tomorrow during the movie.
Then he can make up his mind, and by that I mean, agree that oil is important and Hollywood is a bunch of idiots that make their living from oil based technology and equipment.
Have a great day, y'all.

Snicker, snort. An African reporter asks Michelle a probing question--NOT!
"How do you get Barack to believe he's in charge?"
You had to forgive the cheeky question. The person asking it, popular radio personality Anele Mdoda, had been waiting in ridiculously high heels in one spot for over an hour for the world's favourite first lady to arrive for a photo opportunity, along with 74 other young African women chosen by their US embassies.
Michelle Obama, glowing with enthusiasm, immediately burst into laughter.
"A good man is happy with a strong woman," she said, before launching into a girly chat about the type of men we should let into our lives.
"That's why I fell in love with Barack. I met him way before he was president and he was just so comfortable with himself and he accepted me with all my ... stuff."

Despite the author's intentions, "Unnatural Selection" might be one of the most consequential books ever written in the campaign against abortion. It is aimed, like a heat-seeking missile, against the entire intellectual framework of "choice." For if "choice" is the moral imperative guiding abortion, then there is no way to take a stand against "gendercide." Aborting a baby because she is a girl is no different from aborting a baby because she has Down syndrome or because the mother's "mental health" requires it. Choice is choice. One Indian abortionist tells Ms. Hvistendahl: "I have patients who come and say 'I want to abort because if this baby is born it will be a Gemini, but I want a Libra.' "
This is where choice leads. This is where choice has already led. Ms. Hvistendahl may wish the matter otherwise, but there are only two alternatives: Restrict abortion or accept the slaughter of millions of baby girls and the calamities that are likely to come with it.—Mr. Last is a senior writer at the Weekly Standard.

Here's a bright spot:
House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R.,Mich.) has finally agreed to support a bill this summer that means lights out on the looming 2012 ban on the incandescent light bulb. Upton himself co-sponsored 2007 legislation making light bulbs illegal, a ban that has become a symbol of bipartisan Big Government run amok.
Upton has come under increased pressure in recent weeks, sources say, after failing to follow up on a promise he made after assuming the committee chairmanship that he would hold hearings on reversing the ban. After months of paralysis — and with the ban just six months from going into effect on January 1 — outrage was building among his own Republican committee colleagues and conservative activists, including a national petition campaign, FreeOurLightdotorg, sponsored by the Competitive Enterprise Institute.
“Freedom Action’s Free Our Light campaign has demonstrated that there is widespread public opposition to the light bulb ban,” says Myron Ebell, Director of Freedom Action at CEI. “We’re pleased that Chairman Upton has seen the light and congratulate him on his decision. We look forward to the House passing the bill to repeal the ban and its eventual enactment later this year.”
After Upton scheduled hearings this week featuring rent-seeking corporate fat cats that stood to benefit from the ban, anger boiled over and the chairman agreed not only to cancel the hearings but to bring up a bill repealing the ban. A source tells the Michigan View that the bill will likely be brought up under “suspension,” which means no amendments will be allowed and passage requires a two-thirds majority.
Hopefully, this bill will pass!

Aborting a baby because she is a girl is no different from aborting a baby because she has Down syndrome or because the mother's "mental health" requires it.
I've gotten into incredibly heated arguments about "choice" with queer friends about if they'll still support abortion without restriction once there's a simple and easy test to identify if a baby has a genetic predisposition to homosexuality. Because, let's face it, there are many ever so tolerant liberals who would abort because they don't want that for their child. It's fun watching the eye twitch start, especially when I point out that it's the Evil Christians who will not abort, even if knowing that's a likelihood for their child.
Eh, I take my fun where I find it.

Geez, bloodboiling op-ed in WSJ about Food Stamp Fraud.
"Millionaires are now legally entitled to collect food stamps as long as they have little or no monthly income. 35 States have abolished asset tests for most food-stamp recipients. These and similar 'paperwork reduction' reforms advocated by the USDA are turning the food-stamp program into a magnet for abuses and absurdities.
The Obama administration is far more enthusiastic about boosting food stamp enrollment than about preventing fraud. Thanks in part to vigorous federally funded campaigns by non-profit groups, the government's AmericCorps service program and other organizations urging people to accept government handouts, the number of food-stamp recipients has soared to 44 million from 26 million in 2007, and costs have more than doubled to $77 billion from $33 billion.
The USDA's Food and Nutrition Service now only has 40 inspectors to oversee 200,000 merchants that accept food-stamps nationwide. The GAO reported last summer that retailers who traffic illegally in food stamps for cash or acohol or other prohibited items 'are less likely to face criminal penalties or prosecution than in earlier years.' Lax attitudes towards fraud are spurring swindles across the nation."
The article goes on to site a bunch of the fraud occurring in multiple states. The article ends with:
"HL Mencken quipped that the New Deal divided America into 'those who work for a living and those who vote for a living.'"

The infuriating aspect of the SPR release is that it won't make much difference to the price of gas, but it will make us more vulnerable to a real crisis.
Just as a hint of instability in the Middle East makes oil prices go up, a hint of increased domestic oil production in the US would make oil prices go down. Futures markets attempt to, as one might guess from the name, predict the future.
But of course increasing domestic production would make the US a stronger and better country, so that's off the table.

It's the most astoundingly stupid thing I have ever seen in my life:
(1) It's a drop in the bucket, it really isn't much compared to total oil.
(2) If it is actually needed, say OPEC cuts off supply, he's really screwed.
(3) It's 2011. Even by a cynical measure, this is stupid.

People here in the midwest don't believe the PA liquor laws. And then they think, "Ah ha, it must be all those religious wackos."
I tell them that might have started it, but that isn't the reason PA still has state stores.

runningrn - that food stamp thing pisses me off to no end. Every time I'm at the store, I watch a cart full of ribs, steaks, chicken, and other assorted food being pushed by some 350 pound "female" with 4 misbehaving, screaming fatassed brats pay for the haul with her food stamps. Meanwhile I'm scrimping up 25 bucks to get a bit of fresh fruit and lunch meat for the next week to survive on.
You'd be even madder if you read all the examples of fraud cited: People in Seattle selling their cards on Craigslist or brazenly cashing them out on street corners (I saw the news report of that one night) for 50 cents on the dollar and then using the proceeds for prostitution and drugs. WA state Senator, Mike Carrell complained that "...DSHS management has allowed these things to happen, and in some cases, actively restricted fraud investigations."
30% of inmates in the Polk County, IA jail were collecting food stamps that were mailed to their non-jail mailing addresses in 2009. They couldn't be prosecuted for fraud because "the state's food-stamp form failed to ask applicants whether they were heading for the slammer." The spokesman for the IA DSHS said that "asking such questions could make food stamp application 'unwieldy'."
And so on.

Note:
Unusually, the prosecution team had also asked for an acquittal, arguing that politicians have the right to comment on problem issues and that Wilders was not trying to foment violence or division.

From Daniel Henninger's op-ed in WSJ this a.m.
"How about the strong handicaps claimed by the 4 politicos? The Obama handicap is reported at 17. John Boehner is at 7.9, which Golf Digest says makes him the '43rd best golfer in Washington'. John Kasich, the former House budet chairman, 'is close to an 8'. Joe Biden has a 6.3 handicap and is ranked No. 29 among Washington's top 150 golfers. Either Mr. Biden got that handicap his famously golden youth, or he's playing from the geezer tees."

People living on the dole, should be ashamed--especially if they've been doing it for a long time. Well, It has to do with the AMOUNT of food, and the fact that it's good for any old processed crap. Personally, I wouldn't break my heart to see 90% of what's allowed now be cut off. ONLY fresh fruits and veggies, no processed crap, no microwave meals. Make the fuckers cook and work at dinner. Who knows, maybe they'd even get some quality family time and figure out how to get out of the shitty place they find themselves in life.
And insist that in order to qualify you MUST be working in some capacity or another. I don't care if it's picking up trash in the Tunnel of I64 in Hampton Roads at 2AM and dodging drunks on a friday night. Work = effort = compensation. No more lazy fat asses.

Having raised the National Debt to record limits the White House can't spend anymore. They CAN however deplete any and all recourses the Nation holds in an effort to further expand that debt. After the oil is sold, it will have to be repurchased (usually at higher prices). Especially if his "other economic stimulus" continues to work so well.

There is no water shortage! What we have is artificial water shortages in certain local areas created by politicians bowing to the wishes of gaia worshiping eco-tards.
When I lived in California in the Bay area we had two reservoirs that provided a large portion of the area's drinking water which was always in short supply. These were lake Chabot and the San Leandro Reservoir.
We also had a well financed group of idiot-tards who continually pushed for draining both of these reservoirs and dismantling the dams to return the area to its "pristine" natural condition. So far they haven't succeeded but sooner or later....
And lest you feel like this kind of insanity is confined to idiot CA look back a few years ago to the insanity in Atlanta when some environut group sued because the dam operators at Lake Lanier had throttled back on outlet flow due to a long drought. An action REQUIRED by federal law.
A federal judge ruled in favor of the environuts who claimed the low flow was endangering a small group of obscure river muscles that lived downstream. They were on the "threatened" list. Why were they on this list? Because they are so damn worthless nobody bothers counting them. So they effectively drained Lake Lanier and the surrounding area had to do without water.
This endangered Shithole Act is another one of those things waiting for the "Mother of All Repeal Bills".
