Just saw on Fox that a Marine has asked Betty White to the USMC ball.
Can't these guys get dates any other way?

I caught a portion of Cain's exchange with Wallace. It sounded like Cain stood his ground on specifics; whereas it sounded as though Wallace wanted universal application/submission to Sharian Law in order to apply the "virtue" of the Constitution to its own loss of relevance, no longer referenced as the Supreme Law of the Land by the MFM. When Wallace was arguing the racial victim card, I anticipated a slew of jokes starting with, "A Jew, a Black and an Arab" this morning @ Ace.

Mama AJ: for lethargic kids in the AM, I keep a bag of marbles in the freezer. They always roll to the lowest spot in the mattress (which, coincidentally, is the kid.) They are inescapable, and they are cold.
If that doesn't work, the spray bottle does. Sure, they'll be cranky, but they'll be on time.

There are thousands of novels written in the last few centuries that could be done as movies. Unfortunately, the writers do not know about those, having never read actual books, so they us comics, cartoons, and games for their writing inspiration.
Pathetic.

The absolutely amazing thing to me is that virtually the entire left still sees this idiot and his team of world class idiots as competent. TheyÂ’ve taken everything in this country and in the world and not only made it worse, but theyÂ’ve made it catastrophic.
I question the judgment of Obama supporters to the point that I believe that if they have jobs in the private sector, they should be fired – for the good of the economy – and the country.

DOOM, although a real and present danger, doesn't sell too well on the tube, and, from what I can see, our public schools have deadened enough brain cells in most of the populace that they cannot comprehend facts. Casey, on the other hand, seems just like another episode of an "As the Stomach Turns" telenovella, plus you don't have to get off the couch.

It's like once Star Wars crashed in the prequels, no one will touch sci-fi. And there are thousands of really good novels of the last century that would make wonderful stories.
Costume drama: Regency novels and 18th century stories by Georgette Heyer and Patricia Veryan
Adventure stories: H. Ryder Haggard's books (he wrote King Solomon's Mines, but there are a bunch); the Tarzan movies such as Jewels of Opar or Lost CIty of Gold; the OLD Tom Swift books
Mysteries: Besides Agatha Christie there are Ngaio Marsh, Nero Wolfe, Wilkie Collins.
Dickens has been ignored. Kenneth Branham is the only person who pushed Shakespeare. It's only the Brits who will touch Austin.
It's just terrible what is cranked out.

Re: Moody's
My favorite nugget from Reckless Endangerment is the fact that neither Moody's nor any of the other ratings agencies looked at debt-to-income ratios when reviewing mortgages in the pools! This is a fundamental measure of creditworthiness that has been used in underwriting for decades. Many, many, many of these subprime mortgages took people's DTIs up into the 50s and 60s, which is not sustainable under any scenario, and a pool full of these mortgages should neve have been rated higher than Baa. Prior to the boom and since the bust, you could not have total debt of more than 36% of gross income to get a mortgage.
The other thing they did was use average credit scores to fool investors. But a pool with an average FICO of 680 could have a bunch of prime 780 score loans in it and an equal number of horrible 580 loans. If all the 580 loans default, you are screwed. And that's what happened.
Moody's was raking in huge fees for rating these securities at the same time. It was a hideous conflict of interest and nobody saw it. The thinking was that the competition among the agencies would ensure they did not screw up, but when they ALL used garbage models to rate the pools, there wasn't any regulation of them.

I disagree. She has been steeped in left-wing politics since birth. Scratch a lefty -- find an anti-Semite (and a racist, but that's for another thread).
Progressive politics goes hand-in-hand with revolution theology, freedom movements, indigenous people's struggles, etc. All of those have as a tenet the active dislike of Israel, and the subtext of anti-Semitism couched as anti-Zionism.

He's one of the Kennedys that has had major substance abuse problems, no; oh WTF, they're all a bunch of fucking soaks except for Kathleen. Every line has a hilarity component but the one I like best is when he whines about "the desecration of sacred Native American land, including land now under shallow waters in the Sound, where the turbines would also obstruct religiously significant views of the sunrise and sunset". Oh noes, no sunsets!!! I'll bet a dollar to a donut that that simple fuckhead has no problem with the Ground Zero mosque hive of subversion. Also LOL at that fucking dimwit whining about sacred land that's underwater; what did the aboriginal Americans (not Native Americans, which anybody born here is, you fucking mongrel mick dipshit) go there in their aboriginal submarines. There's no doubt he's back on the pipe.

I really do not like the term "Service Members". Three Service Members killed in Afghanistan. Is this some kind of softball team? Maybe they were a book appreciation club? No, hell no, these were people who hump out into the black night and ride down ambush-ready mountain roads SEEKING trouble. Yeah, semantics, I see that. But, I do not want us to be isolated from these Soldiers by semantics and I do not want the edges smoothed off on the loss of a single one of them. I want it to ache, burn, sting and cut each time we see one of those headlines. Three Soldiers Gave Their Lives For You Today...

Re Gore's conservative bona fides:
"Gore shared the views of his fellow southern centrists — he opposed the federal funding of abortion, supported a moment of silence in schools for prayer, approved funding of the Nicaraguan contras and was against the ban on interstate handgun sales. It was a platform a conservative West Texas Democrat like state representative Perry could stand on, and he signed up to chair the Senator's Texas campaign"
