Electric car company folds in Salinas, CA after getting huge gov subsidies for startup. They got subsidies from the city, subsidies from the State, and we all know what they get from the Feds (not mentioned in article). The CEO gave them 3 reasons which they say were all based on not enough capital. IÂ’ll give two reasons. (1) Nobody wants these pieces of shit (2) his company was never designed to make money off car sales to begin with. Like nearly all of these BS green companies they are designed to make money from government largess. When the subsidies run out, the company folds.
That is the pattern that we have seen throughout history on these American System crony projects. All one has to do is look at much ballyhooed Union Pacific railway which was another heavily subsidized project. As soon as the government subsidies ran out the railroad went bankrupt. Meanwhile the Great Northern Railway which was built at the same time with no government subsidies continued on and did fine.

He wants to cut the prison
sentence of a convicted terrorist who would then be turned lose in the U.S. He
is another one of these asshole who was born and raised in a terrorist country
and allowed to immigrate to the U.S. Doing some research we find he is one of
those infamous “friends of Bill”.
I also find that, among other things, he was convicted of “unlawful procurement of citizenship”. Being convicted of that means that he should have his citizenship stripped and be deported back to Yemen. Of course there is no word on that happening. So why does Holder think the conviction should be set aside and he turned lose? No word on that but he was convicted by the Bush DOJ so obviously he is the victim of racist policies.

The Hill claims that McConnellÂ’s bend over and surrender scheme is gaining "steam"
Basically the think that cut, crap, and balance will fail after which the House will be forced to support it. Oh and “steam” I guess that is Diane Feinstein supporting it now. Any bill that Harry Reid and Diane Fienstein support can not be good.

Now she has a debilitating stress related condition that requires “heavy pill use”. Folks it has become clear that we are rapidly approaching half of the conditions of the 1800 election that almost erupted in civil war 60 years before it finally did explode. I say half because the liberals are in the full attack dog mode while conservative Republicans are silent.

PPP is dropping him from
State level polling due to bad performance. Personally I think this is BS. It
is far too early to be dropping announced candidates from polling. The polls
still reflect mainly name recognition. They should not be dropping people from
a poll until the end of summer.

The RNC delegates are party loyalists and heavily weighted in favor of the older-style Republican, because these are the people who have been active in GOP circles for years. Being delegates is their reward for service.

I dunno....I think the headline and pull quote are a little misleading as to what he said.
“I know the South, and you have to win the South. Mitt Romney did not win it when he ran against John McCain” in the 2008 primaries, said Mr. Cain. “The reason he will have a difficult time winning the South this time is because when he ran the first time, he did not do a good job of communicating his religion. It doesn’t bother me, but I know it is an issue with a lot of Southerners.”
snip~
“I like Mitt. I supported him in the last presidential election,” said Mr. Cain, who softened his often booming baritone voice almost to a whisper. “I don’t think he is going to be any stronger this time around against Barack Obama, even though Obama has a terrible record.”

The establishment elitists know best how to abuse the system. Anything to maintain authoritarian power, as if the Republican Leadership ever valued the Tea Party movement as anything but an amusement to abuse. Anything to ruin the "anyone but Obama" '12 chance. Sabotage "public trust", it's what's for dinner. And the establishment called the Tea Party demands "radical".
The RNC is acting just like Obama, taking their marbles with them as they storm out of the process. Throughout the '08 primary, we all debated the best ways to reform the primary process, to the RNC deaf ears. Again they reveal their trump card, no real surprise given their response to the Tea Party.
/Insanity is the Federal Rule of Law thumb. And though insanity's ability to provide constitutional governance is nil, the only chance of "working" or gaining employment is limited to joining gubmint rank and file.

Business Insider bears the alarming news that the Iran-supported terrorist group Hezbollah is busy establishing a presence in Mexico and elsewhere in Latin America:
Islamic terrorist groups are setting up shop in Mexico and forming alarming ties with the country's brutal drug cartels, according to a 2010 internal memo from the Tucson Police Department.
The memo (pdf file) referred to here was not intended for public consumption, and came to light only after the hacker group LulzSec hacked into Arizona Department of Public Safety computers.

1) Come up with a series of polls that have hugely unbalanced fictional samples favoring Democrats that say America support Obama in the debt talks.
2) Use this fake poll as your lead-in and premise for your entire reporting on the story.
3) Go on FoxNews and state this false premise as an established fact.
4) Of course the cue card readers at FoxNews are too stupid to call you on the fact the polling is fake and sit silently as the left lies to America.
You see, the left gets it in a way. They know that most Americans are too stupid to realize poll numbers can be manipulated. They hear that "margin of error of 3.5%" crap and buy it hook line and sinker.
WHAT WE NEED:
We need to establish a government office whose job it is to create an accurate accounting on a regular basis of what the party affiliation breakdown in America is. Once that has been established, all pollsters MUST weight their poll by that sampling BY LAW.
This way we would have apples to apples polling. The propaganda the left spews with their fake polling is just too dangerous to ignore.

I think we are at 20% while the GDP is down so much. But in the long run it will fall to 18% unless congress tinkers with it again. It always settles out in the long run at 18%. That is why spending should be limited to 18%.

Economically, both Coburn - and Obama - have a point in that "tax incentives" are quite literally disguised spending. Coburn has identified tax breads for ethanol as a tax code adjustment he would make, and he is right on. The tax break is a disguised subsidy of the ethanol industry, and it needs to go.
The tax code is full of these - they are not revenue measures, they are social programs in disguise. We probably like some (accelerated depreciation, for example, spurs small-business growth), and we probably do not like others (for "green" projects, which do more harm than good). But we should recognize the economic reality, get out Allah's ban hammer, and put it to legitimate use.

Now, we obviously don't know the whole story of what went down at this bar, and I know being in the military does not automatically make you a pillar of virtue. But I think I'm willing to put my faith in the veteran who spent most of the altercation unconscious more than the lowlifes who pummeled him so badly his bladder burst.
Bohn's mother said her son survived two explosions while serving in Afghanistan, and the second one cost him his career in the military. She said she wants the people who beat her son to realize something else.
"I want them to know what kind of a man Steven is," she said. "He fought for this country. He wishes he could go back, but he can't."
Bohn said his spine was damaged in a suicide bomb attack in Afghanistan in 2008, and he said the beating aggravated the old injuries.

Great - more "nation buliding" ahead. Or, perhaps more likely, US citizens along the Mexican border will simply be expected to learn to live with the bombings and rocket attacks. Aside from the armed forces, nobody is doing jack to protect US citizens from the depredations of its multitudinous enemies - either foreign or domestic.
The so-called Right in this country is showing itself to be weak willed, tentative, cowardly, and ineffectual. The Left is allowed to break any and all laws without the slightest repercussions. The Congress meekly approves all but the most horrendously evil people that Obastard deems fit to nominate, no matter how crucial or petty the position. The institutions of the state are turned against us, and the courts offer no justice except by luck. The police are, increasingly, little more that state enforcers with no regard for the supreme law of the land, and the only laws that are vigorously enforced are those that can be directly tied to government revenue. Crimes against persons and property are seen as little more than an inconvenience, rather than a menace to be fought.
We are living under the tyranny of the limp-wristed do-gooders. The kids are barely learning to read and write, and forget about math. False history is taught to turn them against America. We have laws saying that if you hurt a person because you hate their protected status, that's a worse crime than doing the same hurt out of greed or plain anger. If you publicly utter a statement condemning some protected class, you'll lose your job and livelihood. The government is willfully importing a muslim 5th column as fast as it can, and ignoring domestic activity that is clearly being done in preparation for future terrorism. The Congress bickers over "debt limits" and makes no progress, while the real legislating in the US is done by faceless bureaucrat scum who make law through regulatory fiat. Unchecked, unaccountable technocrats rule us all, and their chains bind us more firmly every day.
Unless a harder, more ruthless, nationalist Right rises in the US, the game is up. Your grand children, those who are not fully converted to the Left's toxic ideology, will be slaves to that ideology.

Yeah, if I'm a Wisconsin voter the concept of having a recall more than a year away makes me think that whoever's behind this is motivated by something other than the best interests of the state.
To me it's a really bad idea because:
1. It gives Walker and Wisconsin a lot of time to recover. If there's really that much anger towards him (and I don't know whether there is or not) then why delay a recall? Strike while the iron is hot. If Wisconsin's budget comes in balanced (or even in surplus) and the local budgets are working well then this supposed anger becomes diffused.
2. A recall election works best when you have fewer voters. Those who are passionate will vote, those who aren't won't. Putting it in the 2012 general ensures that more voters will be at the polls, and if the state is doing better then you're more likely to get people who are satisfied with the governor.
3. Obama. There is strong anti-Obama sentiment everywhere and those people will vote. More than likely those people will also support Walker. The more anti-Obama voters that come out means that there will likely be more pro-Walker votes.

Yes that but also if 2012 is anything like 2010, they're hosed. Not to mention the fact that because of Walker's actions, the state is more fiscally sound.

I'm sure brave Sir Eric will jump right on that

Oh lovely, more plans to gut the military from the Dems. I'm glad I'm getting out.

A common pattern. Sadly, once they've done their damage it's pretty hard to undo. Consider all the Hatains that the Libtards have saddled Florida with - that right there is an imported welfare-class problem, and good luck getting them back out of there other than at bayonette point.
The libtards are just like locusts - they move from place to place, enjoying the way of life that conservatism makes possible - and once they've destroyed it all they try to move on. Well, not many places are left to move on to. If only those scum would pack up and expatriate to Europe, like so many of the rich actors always threaten to do (but rarely actually do).

I love football - especially pro football - but I have absolutely ZERO sympathy for the players and am completely disgusted that some of my favorite players (especially Brees) are fronting for them.
Normally, when we had a chance to pick up NFL Sunday Ticket on DirecTV we would do it, but we've decided to not even bother getting a dish. We'll make do with Comcast service at the new place.
I hope the owners go with scabs and bust the union. I can't believe that in this economy the players are garnering any sympathy.

My husband is an Eagles fan and I just can't be one any more. I usually make sure the kids have Eagles shirts and we do pay DirecTV for the games. I did not buy any last year.
I'm perfectly happy to let them do without our money for a year.
Well, I have to mow the yard despite the occasional raindrop...if I wait any longer I'll need a machete.

I still prefer pro football, partly because my wee little brain is only capable of following a certain number of teams, partly because there really are some crappy college teams out there (higher percentage and number of them so you get a lot of blowouts), and partly because I think the BCS stuff is a load of crap.
But, yeah, we're watching more college games now, too.

My sentiments exactly.
Oh, BTW Vic, it turns out my trip to SC next month won't be to Florence, which I thought, but to Charleston. Apparently we'll be staying in some rented houses on The Isle of Palms. Which should be fun, as I'll get to go to Ft. Sumter and I really want to hit the Maritime Museum.
Any other suggestions for me when I'm down there? I'll be there for a week.

Hit the Irish Pub in old Charleston called Tommy Condon's. Also, you may want to take one of the buggy rides through old Charleston. If you do try to do it in the morning when it is cooler.
When traveling around in old Charleston don't take your car. Cab fare is incredibly cheap for multiple passengers and finding parking is hell.

I would bet cash money we would end up with Jeb Bush
He's the actual conservative in that family...

Ahh, most of my family would be up for that. Thanks...and also for the advice about cabs.

If you have never been to an AC/DC show, you haven't lived. You will not believe how much they bring it. Even my faincee, who wasn't a fan before, sure is now.
All in the name of liberty.......

A couple of weeks ago, we had one “peer-reviewed” paper claim that the lack of new warming the last 12 years was due to sulfur aerosols from Chinese coal plants (these are the same byproducts the Clean Air Act eliminates in US coal-fired plants). This week, NASA comes back with a “peer reviewed” paper that the lack of new warming is due to volcanic activity, not those coal plants in China.
ItÂ’s a damn good thing the science is settled or youÂ’d be left believing that these folks havenÂ’t a clue.
But not to be out done by his VP, Bill Clinton weights in today with a piece at The Atlantic, Paint Your Roofs White.
You canÂ’t make this stuff up.
