How about some more stupid healthcare regulations
Insurance companies would be required to cover birth control stuff under this new regulation. Yes, that is regulation. Where to regulations come from? You got it, the executive department, i.e. executive fiat. Folks, we are living in a communist dictatorship.

Big news this morning is that a great part of the country will be getting a dose of my weather
Get ready folks in the North
and pray you have an air conditioner today. Temps will be in the 100s with high
humidity. They called for 97° here yesterday and it hit 102°. They are calling
for 101° today so it will probably hit 104°.
The warmies will be ecstatic.

Here is something that goes along with these nationwide heat waves
ItÂ’s called power shortages. HereÂ’s the kicker from this article.
Utilities say they're ready for high power demand and widespread electricity shortages or outages are unlikely.
This article is “mostly” correct although extremely simple. But what they are not saying is that the NE does NOT have the power to handle these kinds of heat waves. Usually when this happens in the NE they buy power from the Midwest and the south. Today that will not be possible because this heat wave is hitting both.
When that happens you can expect rotating blackouts. The ONLY thing that is mitigating this is the fact that the economy is in the shitter. The economy is the other thing that driveÂ’s the nationÂ’s electricity usage (not light bulbs). A lot of those factories are shut down and all those 50 and 100 horsepower motors are shutdown.
We will see what goes down. NY Morons look out around 2 pm until 5 pm and be prepared for loss of power. And if the grid does go down be prepared for it to be down for a long time.

More evidence that temporary taxes never go away
The last of the more than 60,000 Confederate veterans who came home to Alabama after the Civil War died generations ago, yet residents are still paying a tax that supported the neediest among them.
Note that the last verified civil war veteran died in 1951 (he was from Alabama).

Numerous stories at The Hill on budget fight. All in favor of the Dems and all blaming the Repubs. I wonÂ’t link any of them. They are basically the same dam propaganda and lies pushed by the Democrat-Communist-Press for this whole issue. Let us pray that the House holds firm.
Michelle Maulkin on F&F this morning called the deal instead of gang of 6 call them the rat pack.
NRO calls it government by platitude
I call it the SOS, “we will agree to cut some spending somewhere down the road for a compromise where you agree to increase taxes, oh and we need a debt ceiling increase as well”. If the Republicans in the House fall for this after the 2010 election the Republican Party is dead to me. I’ll be for burning it down.

This is what our country has become. A sad day..
Yeah, I'm kinda down, I hope my bitterness didn't show too much.
There's just no excuse for us to stop our space program. It's a sad testament that we are stupid enough to vote for idiot politicians who claim to want the best for mankind and then do their damnest to engineer our society in order to prevent that from happening by appealing to our base instincts instead our noble aspirations.
But, on the bright side, I have a job interview this morning. One of my musician buddies has an opening at a local A/C company in the sale department. It's a part time job, but fits my schedule well and still gives me plenty of time for gigs. Might actuall make some money in a few months from commissions. Wish me luck, y'all.

McGrade works for a company called ATSG, LLC, a State Department contractor that handles the disbursement of federal dollars. A secretary at ATSG and State Department spokesperson Andy Laine confirmed for The Daily Caller that McGrade works on-site at the State Department.
Laine added that, though she handles disbursement of taxpayer money, McGrade is not personally paid with taxpayer funds. ATSG writes her paychecks. The owner of ATSG refused TheDCÂ’s request for comment for this story.
Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo (NJConservative) at July 21, 2011 04:08 AM (LH6ir)
McGrade worked as a federal government contractor, handling the disbursement of taxpayer money for the State Department to other contractors. She worked on-site at the State Department in the office of Overseas Building Operations.
Didn't read down that far and was relying what they said yesterday. So, yes it is still impossible to fire federal workers.

There is a HUGE list of technological advances which are commonplace today that were a direct result of space travel. Without manned flight, those items would never have entered the marketplace. We would still be using dial telephones and waiting for the UNIVAC to warm up in order to have it calculate a few figures.
Besides the PRACTICAL benefits of manned space flight, there is another. Americans are descended from explorers who carved a nation out of the wilderness. Space really is "the final frontier" and by abandoning it's exploration, it will kill part of the American soul.
The space program was a bargain compared to HHS or Education. How about we think about killing those programs first?

Sonora State Police say the body of 21-year-old Juan Carlos Navarro of Nogales, Ariz., was found wrapped in a blanket on a roadside in the upscale Colonia Kennedy neighborhood.
Nogales International, "Little Guy"
"Beck Street community mourns loss of popular ‘Peque,’ killed in Sonora"
Navarro showed no signs of being involved in drug smuggling, like flashing money around or buying expensive things, and Garavito urged people not to jump to conclusions or judge him.
She said she hoped his murder would send a message to kids in the community about the ruthlessness of the people who are involved in criminal activity. In the end, she said, she wants something positive to come out of her friend’s death. “We have all made a promise that we’re not going to talk about vengeance or anything,” Garavito said. “We’re just going to move forward and try to prevent another mother from suffering this.”
Navarro had been an admired member of the working-class Beck Street neighborhood due to his respectful nature and desire to improve his life, Garavito said. Following his graduation from NHS in 2008, he had taken courses at Cochise College with an eye toward a degree in business administration, she said. He was also an expectant father. He had legal resident alien status and had lived in the neighborhood since he was a child.
But last Monday, Navarro went to Nogales, Sonora with a friend who had gotten into trouble with some bad people, she said, and the two were kidnapped. The fate of the friend remains unclear, since his family is scared and wonÂ’t talk, Garavito said.
Raising money through a car wash and donations, NavarroÂ’s loved ones were able to repatriate his body from Mexico on Friday afternoon. The family was still trying to come up with the money for NavarroÂ’s cremation. People wishing to help can make a donation to account No. 6634158437 at the Wells Fargo Bank on Mariposa Road.

The 'Grid' in Connecticut (Fairfield, New Haven and Hartford counties mostly) are not up to the load required to be carried in the State and to pass electricity through to other areas.
This has come about due to the rich and liberal NIMBY's fear of EMF from power lines and the unsightliness of the towers. Combined with the (previously) high property values has made it almost impossible for the Utilities to upgrade the grid to the level that is required.
Even the street system has large sections that are antiquated and inadequate and are constantly causes localized blackouts.
There are fewer power stations in CT than there needs to be for the same reason.

I, having worked in the utility buisness for over 30 years, can tell you the problem. in short it is a combination of the NIMBYs, NAMBYs, and NOPEs1 combined with PSC at the State level who refuse rate increases for any reason.
We also have a lot of interference from the federal government who take a bad situation and make it infinitely worse.
And yes, if it wasn't for the economy right now we would already be in rotating blackouts.

Morning all!
So I've just been quizzing myself on some sample National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) civics questions four fourth graders. They're naturally quite easy, but I got to sample question 3 (of 5) and immediately wanted to punch someone.
Here it is:
Refer to the paragraph below, which is a summary of the introduction to the Declaration of Independence.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all people are created equal; that they are given certain rights that cannot be taken away; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That to protect these rights, governments are created that get their powers from the consent of the governed....
Which of the following ideas is in the summary of the Declaration of Independence?
A) People in the United States should have some control over the government.
B) Kings can rule in the United States, as long as they are fair to people.
C) The smartest people should control the government of the United States.
D) Everyone in the United States should try to be elected to the government.
The correct answer is A.
Can y'all figure out what it is about answer A that made me want to find the analyst who wrote these questions and punch him or her violently in the throat?
I'll give you a hint: It's the word that starts with an S and rhymes with "rum."

Senate leadership sources are comfortable there will be enough votes in their chamber, but the math in the House is trickier. Not quite right. Pawlenty actually started out digging at her.
Rumor is that his camp was the source of the stupid ass story in the first place, which makes a lot of sense if you think about the dynamics of the field and which "conservative" sites were pushing it.
From CNN:
Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty walked back earlier criticism of rival Michele Bachmann's migraines on Wednesday, calling the attention over her headaches "a sideshow."
"I think it's mostly a sideshow," Pawlenty said on Fox News. "I've
observed Congresswoman Bachmann. I've never seen her have a medical
condition or impairment that would seem to be a concern."
Earlier in the day the former Minnesota governor said "candidates are
going to have to be able to demonstrate they can do all of the job, all
of the time."
But on Fox, Pawlenty said his remark was aimed at the entire Republican field

Well, it looks like I will be cancelling my subscription to Better Homes and Gardens, as well as the 3 gift subscriptions I buy every year for my sisters and SIL. Michelle Obama is on the cover. I have to say the pictures in the article aren't that flattering. BHG did a story on her healthy eating initiative. Gag me with a spoon!
Here are some random quotes:
"She also discovered how influential she can be (convincing Walmart to offer healthier items, The Treasury Dept. to use tax incentives to entice grocery stores to inner cities, & cooking professionals to partner with local schools as part of the Chefs Move to Schools program.)"
'I had 2 little kids; I was busy, we had take-out at least 3 times a week. I didn't realize that these habits were affecting my kids' health. It was just what I felt I had to do to survive and keep the household going.'
"The pediatrician noticed her daughters were gaining a bit more weight than was healthy. So she eliminated juice boxes, served lighter dishes such as baked chicken, and explained her reasoning to Sasha and Malia. 'They started reading labels and looking at sugar content and really thinking about what they were eating. They stopped want ing to go to certain fast-food places.'
She talks about growing up with her brother and throwing their lima beans on the floor then coming back later to clean them up because they didn't like them. I am calling b.s. on that one. I hated lima beans, and I stuffed them in napkins.
"Ironically, her more constricted life as First Lady has made it harder for her to follow her own advice about staying on the move. 'I became more sedentary'. After a year at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, she was surprised that her body had changed. 'I realized some clothes were getting tighter, I didn't know what was goin on.' She has increased her time at the gym, and now banters with her husband--'I always tease him I'm in better shape than he is.' She laughs 'I can do longer workouts. He's the President. Ultimately kids emulate what they see. You don't have to make a lecture if you're living it. We don't talk about working out, we just do it.'
"Taking on the issue of childhood obesity hardly seems controversial, yet some have tried to paint Michelle Obama as a national nag determined to deprive Americans of dessert, a distortion of her ideas. Mrs. Obama brushes off the attacks, saying 'There wouldn't be an issue that I would pick that wouldn't be criticized by somebody, somewhere. That's just the nature of things.'"
I know we aren't suppose to say anything critical about her and the girls, but I saw a recent picture of them all (watching the U.S. women's soccer final), and the little one is looking really heavy. I also think Michelle looks heavier now than she did a year ago. There is no excuse for that family not to eat healthy. They have a chef who can prepare them all kinds of healthy and expensive (organically grown stuff is not cheap, and the fact people think it's healthier, is a farce--look at what happened in Europe recently!)

ask when was the last time a Democrat was accused of a “rant”?
Democrats don't rant. They dissent. And it's good when they do it!

Didn't know that. He's definitely changed his tune now.

From maverick muse's link:
The heat disaster was a collective failure, and the search for scapegoats—whether the mayor, the media, or the medical system—is just a distraction from the real issues.
Yet there is no question that the city government did not do everything it could to prevent the catastrophe. The city failed to implement its own heat emergency plan, waiting until Saturday, July 15, after hundreds of bodies had already been delivered to the county morgue, to declare an official emergency. The Fire Department refused its paramedics' requests to call in more staff and secure more ambulances, thereby assuring continued delays in its emergency health response. The Police Department did not use its senior units to attend to the elderly residents they were supposed to protect. And since there was no system to monitor the hospital bypass situation, at one point eighteen hospitals were simultaneously refusing new emergency patients.
The city also aggressively used its tremendous public relations apparatus to first deny there was a disaster and then to define the disaster as natural and unpreventable. The city's public statements about the heat deaths, including the executive summary of a special mayor's commission, defended the government's role while obscuring the social roots of the death toll.
So a heatwave was a natural and unpreventable disaster in a Democratic controlled city, and the feds aren't responsible at all under a Democrat President, but Hurricane Katrina was all Bush's fault, and the Democrat apparatus that controlled the city was not culpable at all.
The only time I agree with Michael Savage. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

House Republican sources said their rank and file are hesitant to approve a measure that would give the president more power."
Yeah, what could possibly go wrong?

Yesterday we were talking about a 60-square mile tract of land in Idaho that the Chinese own. Beck mentioned it a little while ago. Coincidence? Apparently the Chinese get the U.S. West when we're broken up into those five sections the Russian economist mentioned a couple years ago.

You need to check out the comments after the on-line version. (Unless ABC screened them or wiped them out altogether. They were hilarious.

Michelle Obama can quit tinkering with the food supply and maybe spend some time reading books on taste and etiquette, not to mention grammar. She is an embarrassment, and when she intrudes into my non-political life, she enrages me.
So, the way I look at it, BHG can hit up all of the Obama supporters for subscriptions. I want my money back.

Today will be the 47th day this year that we have 100+ temps. On no rain in sight.
