— Gabriel Malor Dick Cheney once killed and ate a congressman in front of a visiting troop of girl scouts, as part of his demonstration of “how a bill becomes law.”

Colin Powell gets some well-deserved skewering in it, along with Pelosi, Reid, Kerry, and Obama.
Excellent.

Bear goes after children, man shoots bear. Federal thugs say oh no, broke regulations!. I want to know WTF is wrong with grand juries. If I was on that grand jury and they brought in those charges I would indict the prosecutor.

Supershitty committee already hard at work doing what federal politicians do best, making new federal workers who will still be on the job 100 years after the committee is gone.
Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), a longtime appropriator who advocates stimulus spending, and Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), an anti-tax conservative of the "cut, cap and balance" school, issued a statement Wednesday saying that they are working together to come up with a work schedule and chose a staff for their new group.

Damn it - not one f-ing day can pass without more of this madness. They layer on so much crap every single day that there will never be enough time to undo it all. Chalk up one more justification for the "reset" idea.
I'm pretty sure goat herding has been a "mature" industry for quite some time. They probably have it all under control. And frankly, if it weren't for our tolerance of illegal immigrants none of those regs would be necessary to insure decent living conditions. Employers can't take advantage of desperate workers if there is a reasonable demand for labor.

Amen. If this goes to trial I expect jury nullification. Anything less is an indictment of the local population.
It just goes to show - the best policy is always Shoot, Shovel, and Shut Up.

Well, the good news is that it rained yesterday. The bad news is the 60 mile per hour winds. Knocked power out for 65,000 people, downed trees.
Took off some small branches of our trees and bits of the roof. Scared the stuffing out of me, too.

I can see that. Cheney's got, what, like 5 human hearts? He can overpower anything.

I will be glad to report what he says. I ordered the book this morning.
Of course, if Cheney backs up what I have said all along, which is that Bush was NOT pushing for amnesty but McCain was, and the talk radio people got carried away, I suppose you will simply say Cheney is shilling for Bush.

The sidebar regarding the hurricane map is terrifying, and I live on the Atlantic in Floriduh, which will thankfully be spared for this one, yet I pray for others who are in it's path.
Y'all, prepare for this storm now. If you are in an evacuation zone and told to leave, get out, and (from experience, anticipate this early and get out early: going 15 mph on I-95 to Tallahassee was no picnic, and we did this early).
We live in a house built to Hurricane Andrew codes (Miami-Dade) aka any home built after 1994: hipped roof, extra beams tie-downs in roof, concrete re-inforced steel rebar every few feet in concrete block with stucco exterior. We have metal hurricane shutters that slide and lock into tracks for every door and window, plus a garage door that is to code. Yet we still get the heck onto the mainland as we are on a barrier island with mandatory evacuations for any hurricane. With causeways closed no emergency vehicles will come to your assistance (and I don't blame them and the wind would prohibit driving anything) if you have a heart attack or impale your thumb with the corkscrew. If the hurricane is a Cat 3 or larger we get the heck out of this entire area (heck, the peninsula of Fla). For God's sake, if you are told to evacuate, please do. Here, if you refuse, you have the sheriff write your social security number on your arm for ID purposes if your body is found.
While the Atlantic does not have the storm surge of the Gulf, it is still deadly. It is the surge that will kill you if the tornadoes don't.
I live 1/4 mile from the Atlantic. I can hear the surf inside my house right now and we are not even having bands for this storm yet. The beaches are closed in some places as the surf is so dangerous.
Anyway, if you are in an evacuation area: make a list of the few things you can't live without or that, for you, cannot be replaced. Do this now. Find bins and put photos, etc in bins, get your papers and jewelry and get the heck out if they tell you to.
Go to the Red Cross site for "bug out" emergency tips: food, TP, can opener, first aid kit, etc. I have had a "bug out" bin since we were hit in 2004 with two hurricanes, and then watched the chaos of Katrina. I am not going to be fighting other natives over a loaf of bread in the aftermath. While our damage was not as devastating on this coast as after Katrina, some were without power for two weeks. There was NO food in grocery stores for many days. Ice and TP become more valuable than gold. Do not panic, just prepare.

Take care, morons and 'ettes.
