Lieberman may support Republican in race for his Senate seat next year
Retiring Sen. Joe Lieberman (Conn.), the Democrat-turned-independent, who has had a rocky relationship with his former party over the years, says he may back the Republican nominee in the race for his seat.
I know a lot of the morons like to gush over Lieberman because he occasionally sides with us, primarily on Israel, but he really is a dyed in the wool liberal. His ACU rating for last year was 4 and his lifetime is 15.6. Of course that still beats his partner commie-crook Piss Dodd who had 0.0 and 7.4.

HereÂ’s the headline and lead from the PR rag The Hill.
Obama to propose $3T in cuts, threaten to veto tax cuts for wealthyPresident Obama on Monday will unveil his vision for deficit reduction and tax reform in the Rose Garden, threatening to veto any bills that don't raise taxes on the wealthy and corporations.
And then
The $3 trillion in deficit reduction is made up of money saved from ending the war in Iraq and drawing down in Afghanistan, raising taxes for the wealthy and corporations and cutting about $540 billion in Medicare and Medicaid, administration officials said Sunday night.
Only from this adm of lying
shit-weasels is a tax hike considered a spending cut. Only from the PR rags would they find any
lack of irony for this. Only from the PR rags would they accuse Republicans of
stubborn inaction when Obama threatens to veto any budget bill that doesnÂ’t
have a tax increase in it. And BTW, the saving from war reductions have already been counted so that part is phony.
And crying Boner was scared of bad PR on threatening a gov shutdown.

Finally a PR Rag covers the Solyndra corruption scandal
Obama and his Chicago mobsters caught red-handed in “pay for play” corruption in the bull shit “green” scam and somehow it is viewed as Republicans getting mad and blocking needed green initiatives. Their gall simply astounds me sometimes.

Obama Adm blocking oil drilling because of a piss-ant lizard
I have posted on this before but it is back in the news again. This is simply “use any excuse” to block oil wells. It is an old shell game by the partnership between EPA an the radical eco-tard groups. Find some innocuous POS bug or small animal that almost nobody gives a damn about and allege that it is “threatened” or “endangered”. The statistics for it are almost nil because of the fact that nobody really gave a shit about it in the past. Put it on the list and then use it to block what ever industrial development that is in vogue for opposing that year. Then it is up to the company to spend millions researching the POS bug/lizard/weed to “prove” that it is, in fact, not “threatened”. This is not what congress had in mind for the endangered specie act but it is what it has become. Companies are “guilty” up front and must prove “innocence” and in most cases must undertake the task of proving a negative. All the while costing millions.
And then Demo-commies accuse these same companies of corporate greed when they have had enough and shutdown U.S. operations and move overseas. We really do need BachmannÂ’s mother of all repeal bills (even if she has jumped the shark).

High default rate on loans plagues city
That headline is very deceptive. They make it sound like a “local” problem for Columbia, SC. Digging into the meat of the article you find this.
Almost one-third of the commercial borrowers who got publicly funded loans from the city of Columbia have defaulted – to the tune of about $817,500.
The U.S. Commerce Department, which oversees the federal funds used to make the loans, suspended the program in May until the city explains how it spent the money, including providing figures to substantiate the loans. The loans, often for start-up businesses, were made to borrowers who would not otherwise have qualified for bank loans.
Basically what we have is a federal program which underwrites loans to startup businesses who would otherwise not qualify for loans due to “low creditworthiness”. Another way to view this would be preferential loans to minority businesses and applicants, which is a favorite from the CBC.
So why should the Commerce Department be surprised when 1/3 of the loans are in default? There is a reason that banks do not prefer to loan money (unless forced through CRA) to people with low credit ratings or who have risky business plans. That reason is THEY FAIL and it costs the bank money!
But this Dem PR rag goes out of its way to shield the Obamanites from the negative aspects of this program and I would surmise that this same story is bing repeated all over the country in every urban area. And what is the Obamanite/CBC response? Even more of the same.

Former Navy Secretary does something retired officers can not do
The NavyÂ’s former top civilian has rocked the service in a military journal article by accusing officials of sinking the storied naval air branch into a sea of political correctness.
We need a house cleaning in all of the services; bad. We need to eliminate about 2/3 of the JAG staff and fire all the Admirals and Generals who have made a career out of desks at the Pentagon. We need to put the “war” back into the idea of “warriors”.

In reality the tax will hurt all Americans, will waste money instead of creating jobs, and will not reduce the deficit.
Obama's plan is the same liberal plan as always: tax and spend.
Tax and spend is a never-ending cycle. There is always a need for more taxes and more spending.

That very subject came up in a discussion with a friend of mine in CA when discussing my medical treatment and the V.A. vs private insurance.
Her husband has a problem with repeat cancerous lesions on his back that have to be removed. He is getting disability benefits from the Army and treatment in a VA hospital and it is fully covered.
However, according to my brother and his wife (both worked for the VA), although I could get help from the VA because I am a 'Nam vet, the amount I could get would be based on my current income and net worth.
So what is the difference? My friend in CA was "on the ground" and exposed to agent orange which has been adjudicated as a service related problem for cancer. I served on a ship. Although it was within the combat zone, I was not exposed to agent orange and therefore not under the auspices of that ruling.
So if your "illness" is in any way related to cancer and you were actually on the ground, you ARE eligible for disability and complete medical coverage.

That stupid tax was passed by a commie congress under LBJ and has been around since then. IT has NEVER worked.
Warren Buffet claiming that his overall tax rate is lower than his secretary's illustrates how that POS has never worked and should either be fixed to eliminate loopholes for millionaires and index it to inflation so that it only hits people with a gross income of over 3 million (what it would be if it had been originally indexed).
The other option is to repeal it altogether.

Oh they will drag down the apparatchiks that control the government a well. What they think will happen vs what has happened in the past are vastly different. If all their policies are implemented within 20 years the U.S. would look like 1950s era Soviet Union.
The average person would be living in squalor in bare concrete cubicles and standing in line to get two day old bread and fungus infested vegetables.
Meanwhile the Party bosses would be driving by in substandard Zil limousines to their Dachas in the suburbs. This would be the definition of luxury, but in actuality they would be living worse than the lowest of the middle class is doing now.

The bourgeoisie must be eliminated as they are a threat to good civil order (and more importantly the perks rightly afforded to the credentialed elites). Allowing people to advance on their individual merit is not fair (unless they do it through their "party" contacts).
Please note that the CPUSA stylebook deprecates the use of the term nomenklatura as it is not as subtle as "having a Harvard degree".

I'm in a far-eastern corner of the state where people seem at first glance to be the stereotypical dour conservative individualists of Puritan/Revolutionary War fables, yet we have Patrick and Bawney Fwank, had Kennedys and the Bulger Brothers.
I came here from California (with a short stay in Texas), so it seems I landed in Same-o Same-o Land. Only the people and terrain are different. Better here, in both cases, but it's still a place that will end up slipping into the ocean thanks to rampant liberalism.

To the left, all that is important is that the hated middle class are terrorized and ultimately destroyed.
Is there any aspect of the middle class life which the left does not criticize and hate? They hate the cars the middle class drive, the food that it eats, the way it raises its children, its notions on marriage, its religion, the houses it lives in, how much electricity it consumes, its choices in entertainment. There is no aspect of your life a lefty busybody doesn't despise you for.
I think many on the left would gladly live in a hovel, just happy in the knowledge that they have made the hated bourgeoisie miserable.

No, I think you're wrong.
They despise all those middle-class trappings because they don't have them. That is because they don't actually create any wealth, but instead gravitate toward "helping" professions where they not only drain wealth from the wider public, but are also poorly compensated to boot.
So, as far as they are concerned, if they can't have all the good stuff, no one else should be allowed to either.

Guilt.
They probably believe that they do not "deserve" all they have, so in order to burnish their credentials as "good people" instead of "rapacious thieves" they advocate taking more money from the rest of us to help "the less deserving." Because, after all, they can afford that, so it's really no big deal for them. But they also know you can't get the kind of money you need by only going after the rich - so they want to gore everyone's ox in the name of "fairness." See? Aren't they nice guys??
In short, both of them are advocates of compulsory charity.
Both are equally disingenuous when it comes to being taxed. As pointed out above, Buffet gets taxed on passive income, most everyone else on direct income. Yet, he is completely unembarassed about blurring the distinction between the two.
Buffet did create wealth - Soros laregly created only wealth for himself. Which, I think, lends some credence to my theory. Soros' wealth was created by speculation. Buffet's by the hard work of buying and building companies others took a pass on.
Guess who's more "out front" when it comes to raping the middle class?
Guess who probably has more guilt?

Ever meet any American communists? I'm talking about the red-star-in-lapel "organizer" types?
I knew some when I was a yoot, and each of them had the same vision of a "worker's paradise:" the proletariat would be out running tractors and doing manual labor, while they (who could recite Marx in their sleep and knew all the fifty cent words needed to write proclamations, meeting minutes and propaganda material) would be handling the brain work in a cushy office somewhere. In short, their view of the "free" world of communism was eerily close to the master-slave relationship.
No hovels or deprivations for the ruling class!

Guilt.
Posted by: Sean Bannion at September 19, 2011 08:48 AM (sbV1u)I don't see either of those guys as feeling guilty. I think they feel really good about themselves. They believe they are better than those bastards in the Middle Class.
For the left, morality is the sole determinant of whether or not you should be wealthy. Solyndra should have 500 million dollars of taxpayer money, but Halliburton is evil. Adherence to the true ideology is justification for access to wealth.
The guilty do not moralize. The self-righteous do.

I like this part of the state. It's quaint as hell!
Actually, part of the draw for me is the small towns (ours has a population of 7K) and the separation of one town from another. Coming from SoCal, which is essentially one giant suburb from the so-called "border" with Mexico to San Francisco, the difference is stunning.
And, whereas an "old" structure in Los Angeles is one that dates back to, say, 1954, anything here built after 1830 or so is considered "new construction."

Yup, that's where I disagree.
In fact, I think the guilty become more self-righteous specifically because they are guilty.
Apply that thought to the hyper-religious for a comparison. In my experience, the louder they are, the more of a hypocrite they are. The more understated a person's religiosity - the more intensely they live their faith.
Since liberalism is a religion unto itself, I think the same applies here.

Ha! I hear you. My wife is from the Bay Area (Mountain View). One day we were walking down Mem Drive in Cambridge toward Harvard Square and she stopped in her tracks. "Look!" she says. "Look at this stone! Harvard was founded in 1636!!!"
I was confused. So she says, "History in California started in 1848. We don't have anything this old!"
I admit, I was amsued. I also took the weight of all that history for granted. But when you leave it, you really appreciate what you've lost.
But I still don't like Gloucester. ;-)
Check out Brewster on the Cape if you like quaint small towns. You'll think you're walking through a Currier and Ives print.

We're coming from the same place. We just disagree on the proximate cause.
I think what gives you that smug sense of superiority ove ryour fellow man is the willingness to believe in something he doesn't. Something that is so counter-intuitive that it must mark you as "smarter."

I was a conservative in MA before I went, and one after. I became more conservative there humorously enough (one of my professors was an awesome history teacher who actually taught the subject. Liberals don't come out looking so good in that situation).
But the theories were never really the point. Marxism is about burning things and hating on the 'normals'.

What timbre will Chairman Zero use today when he reads his let's-assfuck-the-millionaires-so-we-can-all-feel-good speech.
Will he be Preznit Tough-Guy, using a mean face and level diction?
Will he be Mr. It's-the-Right-Thing-to-Do, with an earnest slightly whiney tone?
Will he be Jeremiah Wright Junior with his urban black pissed-off-at-the-man tone, and mixing in a little southern black preacher?
Who knows? But we'll probably all find out, because the MFM will run it on every channel except maybe Animal Planet.

It's humorous how badly modern 'street' Marxists are when it comes to understanding his theories.
What is simultaneously hilarious is their complete inability to counter a logical argument. Present one fact to them that doesn't conform to the their world view and you can literally watch their mind go into vapor lock.
I went to Providence, where I was forced to take Logic (and way too much Philosophy too) and to this day I can spot an illogical argument a mile away, even if I can't always immediately remember which fallacy it is.
And I got a "C" in that course.
Most libs don't even take anything remotely that hard as an undergrad - and it shows when you have a "discussion" with them.

It is not possible for a person to assuage his guilt by making others do penance for him.
Well you are right, but then again, this would not be the first time a liberal sought to work in opposition to generally accepted rules of nature.
Just because it won't work, doesn't mean they're not willing to try.
See Obama, Barack Hussein.

President Barack Obama's proposal to reduce long-term deficits with $1.5 trillion in new taxes is less an opening bid in a negotiation than it is an opening salvo in a struggle to draw sharp contrasts with congressional Republicans.
Did the Yahoo headline writer hurt himself writing that?
I don't actually think there is a struggle to show he's different than Republicans.

Man struck by bullet in possum shooting attemptAUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say an 85-year-old Augusta man is recovering after being accidentally shot in the face by a woman who was aiming for a possum.
Police tell the Augusta Chronicle the man was trying to remove a possum from a chicken pen when he was accidently shot in the face by an acquaintance.
Richmond County sheriff's deputies say they found Alfonsia O'Bryant shot once on the left side of his face around 4 a.m. Saturday.
Evelyn Smith, a friend of the man, told officers they had intended to shoot a possum that had gotten into a chicken pen.
Authorities said she fired a .32-caliber pistol at the possum but the bullet struck O'Bryant in what was deemed an accidental shooting.
Sheriff's officials said she then shot the possum and called police.

Richmond, Virginia, Sept. 18 (CNA) Taiwan would be pleased if the United States has indeed agreed to help upgrade its fleet of F-16 A/B jet fighters, and plans to move toward procuring the even more sophisticated F-35 model in the future, Taiwan's Deputy Defense Minister Andrew Yang said in Richmond Sunday.
"The retrofit of the F-16 A/B fleet is part of Taiwan's national defense policy. It would be great if the U.S. approves the deal," said Yang on the sidelines of the 2011 U.S.-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference, at which he is leading a Taiwanese delegation.
Now this is good negotiating.
