3 Did anyone see this article at carolineglick.com? Apparently a group of Israeli businessman were recently detained for several hours at the Istanbul airport, had their passports confiscated and were strip-searched. When they repeatedly asked for an explanation they were ignored. Meanwhile, the Turkish air force held joint exercises with the Chi-Coms over Iranian air space. Yes, Palestinian statehood. Just can't wait to ululate (catchy phrase there)!!!!

Government shutdown looming? Not to worry crying Boner will make a deal.

The commies know that Boner is scared of a shutdown so they will threaten it at every turn.  Also note Sen bill passed with 10 Republicans “crossing the aisle”. Anyone want to bet who these were?

The Hill finally covers Solyndra

House Republicans are making a concerted effort to drum home charges that the White House is guilty of Chicago-style  cronyism.

How about this you worthless assholes, the WH made a concerted effort to funnel taxpayer money to a political contributor and “favored crap” in a wash of corruption and got caught red-handed.

This story is reminiscent of the MFM blaming Ken Starr for ClintonÂ’s perjury.

Evil Rethugs holding up spending bill

Two conservative Republicans are holding up the Health and Human Services spending bill.

My question is why is it only two?

The two lawmakers, Reps. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), say the spending measure costs too much and are demanding spending reductions, sources tell The Hill. Last week they sent a letter to House leaders saying they want spending levels for the bill to be in line with the budget put forward by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and approved by the House instead of the debt ceiling deal.

Not worry, Boner made a deal and they can spend what they want this year and next. They did pinky-swear to reduce spending 10 years down the road.

Daily Caller says Tea Party will challenge crying Boner in primary

Not sure how much we are believing DC anymore. For now I will keep linking them. What do the Morons think?

Tea party activist David LewisÂ’s announcement Friday that he plans to mount a primary challenge to House Speaker John Boehner could indicate a larger problem for the GOP leadership, and point to restlessness among an important segment of the tea party faithful.

I really donÂ’t think this will amount to anything at all. In addition, I donÂ’t think we need to primary crying Boner. What we need is to get him out of the SOH job.

Some really hard core arrogance from AG secretary

We will eat our low salt peas and learn to like it, or else.  Somebody help me out here. My understanding was that this salt reduction scam was a “recommendation” by Moochell and had no force of law, so what is this shit?

And BTW, there is no evidence that lowering salt intake is heart healthy for most Americans. Only people with congestive heart failure and people who are salt sensitive need to avoid salt intake.

Lying asshole from WP accuses Republicans of hijacking election because they have passed laws making it harder for the Dems to engage in voter fraud

GOP governments have been curtailing early voting (in Ohio and Florida) and requiring voters to produce official photo-identification cards (in Wisconsin). In South Carolina, the poll tax lives again: Voters who want an official photo-ID card must present a passport or a birth certificate, neither of which can be obtained for free.

This shit about SC is an outright lie. The new voter ID law was modeled after the GA law which the Supreme Court upheld. The key provision in it that SCOTUS looked for was availability of free ID to poor voters. That is in the SC law.

F&F will have the CEO of a firm which was fined $15K by the SEC for “hiring too many people”. He says he was fined plus incurred $500K in legal costs because he hired new people without “SEC permission”. This is something I have been talking about for a long time. John "Moderate" Fund stoking the Chris Christie fires again

I keep saying this and pundits keep stoking the fires, it is TOO late for new candidates in the Republican Primary. That includes Christie, Palin, and any others. What we need now is to get rid of some of the fringe candidates (< 5% support) and those who havenÂ’t announced at all (Palin should be removed from all polls).  Note that Palin said last night there was still time to get in and she was still “considering”. One wonders WTF she is actually shooting for??? She used to be on my short list, but no more. She is now doing more harm than good.

Bama's bill long on taxes and short on actual cuts

During his Rose Garden speech Monday, the President claimed that his new “debt reduction” plan would provide $2 of spending cuts for every $1 of tax increases. A closer look at the administration’s own numbers, however, suggests the President, well, exaggerated.

57 This whole "fair share" thing is bullshit. WHY should a billionaire pay more in taxes to support the government than someone who earns $80,000 a year? They both (in theory) are not entitled to any more or less than the other, since they are both equal under the law. And certainly those who pay substantially less or zero taxes get a hell of a lot more services from the gub'mint so where's the "fairness" in that? Much of this rant is rhetorical, but it brings me to my point which is a flat tax is the fairest of all. Unless you are completely indigent EVERYONE pays 10%. No deductions, no exceptions. We all have skin in the game and a vested interest in having the smallest most honest government possible. Sick to death of this leftist class-envy poison.

Posted by: Hrothgar at September 21, 2011 07:13 AM (i3+c5) Just like "global warming." DDT, when used properly, was completely safe. Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring" has been debunked; unfortunately too late to save 75 million around the world from dying from mosquito-borne diseases. Ruckleshaus, Carson and those who perpetuated the DDT lie have those deaths on their heads.

The tax the rich thing is getting confusing. The definition of rich keeps changing on both the left and right and the tax code continues to get more complicated.

The repubs and dems dont have a clue about the details of the tax code. I knew a person who had a 4 million dollar income but after expenses only took home 85K. The politicians and businessmen do not understand tax code.

Flat tax makes sense but wont happen in USA. Too many enrich themselves over a more complicated tax code.

This just may be what we've been waiting for, a scandal that goes all the way to the White House. What I didn't know was that the DOJ renegotiated the bankruptcy details to put the investors of Solyndra at the head of the line to receive their money back when it went tits-up, and screwed us out of any chance to get our tax dollars back in a blatant violation of federal law.

Yes, even Gretchen said that. But in this case unless this adm flouts the law she will not make it.

In the case of voter fraud there have been cases were the cheating was so flagrant and widespread it was possible to know. Examples are the widespread phony registration by ACORN and cases where there were more voters in a precinct than there was "population".

And what is funny is that these are ALWAYS in Democrat districts.

If that is true then it wasn't income, it was gross receipts. Gross receipts minus expenses is profit. Profit that is taken from the company (not reinvested) becomes income and is taxable.

@55.  Yes, it was DDT.  The EPA said if they could control it (stop its use), they would be able to control anything.  Even though the myths about the use of DDT have been debunked its still baned for old times sake.  They will never admit they were wrong.  And it goes to show the government does not care about real science.  They want the control over us.  The EPA fu*ks us and we even pay them to do it.  This is the kind of sh*t that government does, and why I will never trust it.

It's the Chicago Way!

Posted by: BackwardsBoy at September 21, 2011 07:37 AM (d0Tfm)

We have front row seats to watch how the Chicago Way collides with the Washington (Establishment) Way.  Even with a republican House, Boner can't bring himself to actually lead and go on the attack against the blatant corruption, lies, criminality, and fraud present in this administration.  God forbid that RINOs jeopardize their choice of tee times or risk not getting to the very best dinner parties or can't access the most profligate lobbyists!  "Go along to get along" works far better than standing on principles, because principles might change, but compromise is always in favor with an establishment politician.

I'm betting on the Chicago Way, myself, not that I like it, but I can spot a winner.  The Zero may not get a second term, but no important Dem will do jail time, the important people will have lots of taxpayer money (transferred to off shore banks and conveniently overlooked by the IRS), and the ranks of the feral bureaucracy will have been salted with liberals that will take decades to weed out.

Not bad for a community organizer without a paper trail!

Air quality, water quality of not only the Great Lakes but a lot of other waterways has improved immensely.  Anyone who doesn't think so wasn't alive in the 70's or was clueless.

Income tax hits received income. Business taxes hit "profits". Where the real rubber hits the road is how they determine what is an allowable buisness expense.

If the Dems had their way there would be almost no allowable expenses and gross receipts would be taxable and all businesses would intermediately go bankrupt.

Meh.  I doubt much of that money will make it into the economy.  And even with the latest "bad" numbers, the core CPI only shows inflation of about 3%.  We had double that in the 80's.  With so much slack capacity I don't think inflation is going to set in for some time yet, and with rates this low there's plenty of room to fight inflation with rate hikes and still be in low-mid single digits.

We're still a long way from Zimbabwe/Weimar.

As Democratic and Republican leaders in Washington struggled to find agreement on spending cuts and extending the debt limit, Mitt Romney struck a conciliatory note in New Hampshire on Monday by lamenting partisan feuding while touting his record of working with Democrats -- even the Senate's onetime liberal lion Edward M. Kennedy.

Yes on the sunset provision on everything (legislation and regulations).

I need to look this up as the percentages below might be wrong, but IIRC Heinlein (Moon is a harsh mistress) proposed a bicameral legislature of sorts.  One house needed 75% to enact any new law and the other house only needed 51% to repeal any law.  Sounds like a plan, given the scope and reach of the ferals these days.

141 #2 Joffen, impressive imagery from Rick Perry Org., Inc.

Incorporated

"America, the last great hope of the world..."

Yes, but the interpretation of what that great hope means!

Given Slick Rick over Mitt Nitwit, both are in the pocket of globalist interests. Circumstances are not visa versa. Neither candidate has the power to manipulate globalist interests in favor of abiding by the US Constitution around the world. Talk is cheap: "making Washington inconsequential" means Perry will do exactly what, and how? Leave us pawns of the UN even while no longer holding diplomatic favor within the UN? Leave us taxpayers funding the UN and NATO majority of expenses, making Washington (the middle man) seem inconsequential.

Stylistic contrast, but essentially how would they actually differ on international policy (both will defer to the military industrial complex which is not to say providing national security through national defense), domestic both defer to DHS on domestic policy, both defer to the Federal Reserve and Keynsian economic policy (after appointing their own Fed Chairman and Treasury Secretary from Goldman Sachs' talent pool), and both concur in decommissioning Constitutional Governance in favor of the permeating authoritarian "efficiency" of bigger, better, too big to fail federally empowered policy.

Perry's record shows that his character resorts to over-extension of his official authority, disregarding the constitutional rights of American citizens, enabling grotesque profits for globalist corporations that do not trickle down at any rate sufficient to compensate for all the costs paid (beyond taxation, permanent negative results of poor policy, including "ironic" loss of liberty, property, life) by the typical working American.

Yes, the horses caught my eye. (Aside from sick bastards, who would want a world without horses? Better to have a world without sick bastards.) Horses instead of a dog for public appeal? The Cavalry is coming? Horses have played an important role developing America. But were they inserted to prevent the mind from thinking about the oil industry, or to make people long for the good old "green" back to nature days of horse and buggies? (That won't attract liberals who would rather kill a horse than appreciate it, as if the decomposing body won't emit more gas into the "green" environment --inevitably-- than the living creature. How would a Palin ad top the horses; with moose, grizzlies or Sarah running a marathon?)

163 Youtube comments have made me despair for the world. I saw comments about how The Beastie Boys were just trying to copy Eminem and, well, the end is nigh. That's all I can say.

164 I think Tyson wasn't serious either. Just shucking and jiving with the white boys.

The list of celebrities who haven't made a joke about Palin (or her daughters) being raped, beaten, or killed might be shorter than the list of those who have.

I'm kind of fascinated by when it's OK to employ a vile racist stereotype and when it's not. Sandra Bernhardt used one straight out of the original 19th-century KKK literature, and it's cool! But noting that Tyson is an actual convicted rapist is somehow utilizing that stereotype for evil.  WTF.

172 Meh.  I doubt much of that money will make it into the economy.

Perhaps you meant into your pocket with that Meh. But flooding more paper fiat funny money into the global bank fraud industry devalues the Dollar, and devalues your standard of living. That standard of living is "the economy" to working Americans. Perhaps you haven't noticed the effects of inflation.

179 I monitor my personal inflation rate in QBs -- it is very real, running average is 12.3% right now; and just got a note about a nursery school fee hike that will push it higher. Food is the biggest component of the growth - despite serious cutbacks and savings this year (write a menu based on sales & coupons, restaurant depot and BJs for bulk stuff, grew alot of veggies, 2 deer, etc.) I would not be surprised to see an honest assessment of food inflation of close to 15%.

Yes, but the interpretation of what that great hope means!

We differ there. And were I to respond in a typically moronic fashion, I'd ridicule the HOA misconception pulled out of thin air. Let's not improperly drag out the ungrounded tinfoil isolationist slam that lacks logic. I assert that we differ on attributing significance to other nations' and regions' populations' expectations. How do American involvement and policy play in other civilizations' where we are not welcome, where we align with former colonial powers funding al-Qaeda's Arab Spring? Considering history either aids in determining how best to manage conflicts; or by refusing history's consideration, requires history's repetition. Neither a refusal to respond to conflict nor a blind kneejerk response to conflict will provide a solution. Nor will "winning hearts and minds of enemies" or COIN, given 10 years of evidence proving those as suicidal. Nor will spreading upheavals to destabilize the region in favor of radical Islamofascist Jihad. Nor will issuing assassination orders to kill a head of state. Nor will propagating "democracy" that places every minority in front of the firing squad. Yet there we are still. Though the US Constitution may be the last hope of the world, American PC is NOT the last hope of the world. And though their stylistic use of PC is starkly different, both Mitt and Rick adhere to PC policy. Yes, even Rick pays homage to PC every time he apologizes for his insensitivity that smears the Tea Party. He isn't the first politician to promise what the voter wants to hear in order to win his own election or gain more power for himself and his own interests at the expense of the US Constitution and American citizens.

196 "Fixes" to SS have been proven to not work. There is only one way to really "fix" it. Phase it out and eliminate it.

Any other fix will simply encourage the communists in congress to increase spending.

So since they will not do that we need to just leave it alone and let it collapse in its own weight. It will "fix" itself.

Unlike Ace, it seems Darrell Issa does indeed think Operation Gunwalker was all about gun control laws.

He elaborated a bit when he noted that while he wouldnÂ’t presume to know the precise goals of Operation Fast and Furious, it certainly did seem to tie in with the narrative the Obama administration was trying to push — that U.S. guns were turning up at Mexican crime scenes. That allowed, the suggestion hanging in the air was that a goal of the Administration was indeed a “Reichstag fire” designed to support a narrative that has been publicly woven by Attorney General Holder,  Secretary of State Clinton, Secretary of Homeland Security Napolitano, and President Obama himself on multiple occasions.

202 maverickmuse - you misinterpret COIN and small wars doctrine in general by misconstruing the timeline in short term political horizons. A successful small war was concluded recently in the Philippines, we were there less then 100year (1898 -1992). Japan and Germany look good on a hundred year baseline. "Winning the hearts and minds" takes generations, and can be done. Is Iraq worth it - can we build a stable ally in an Arab culture is an open question, as is do we need one - would it be better to take the oil or develop our own resources.

Do you care about Windows 8 or what is being called Metro style apps for this new operating system? If yes, then here is a VERY long presentation that may be of interest to you. Although this is a presentation to an audience of application developers, it really is non-technical in the main and nicely spoon feeds the topic and it may serve to demystify this new interface, and the philosophy behind it's creation, for even the most casual system user. I am placing this here because, in my opinion, there periodically come upon us changes that one might wish to adopt sooner rather than later. Frequently, the fear of "another new thing to learn" can cause us to avoid using the best hammer to drive our nails. I hope that this video will help to remove any anxiety that you might feel on the day that you decide to make this change.

215 I really liked Perry's first ad. It wasn't so much an introduction to the candidate, since he is pretty well known. It says Rick Perry Came To Kick Ass and Chew Gum, and He Is Almost Out of Gum. The Michael Bay optics work much better for him than TPaw. It looks like he is making a play for McCainiacs. The best part was how it almost cockslapped you with the words AN AMERICAN. Unsaid was BITCH. Followed by Perry and his military service, then back to the economy. He is off to a great start IMO.
