Call this a homage, if you will.
The religion of pieces may in involved in this caper:
Police in Berlin have arrested two men suspected of planning a bomb attack.
One of the men is described as a 24-year-old German citizen of Lebanese descent, while the other is from Gaza, aged 28.
They had procured chemical substances which could be used to make explosives, a police spokesman said.
Police are searching the premises of an Islamic cultural centre in the Wedding district, as well as the two men's residences.

President Obama's much-vaunted jobs and growth package sparked outrage after it was revealed that it could cost more than $400 billion.
Mr Obama is set to unveil a massive new government spending bonanza just weeks after the country was brought to the brink of defaulting on its debts in a bitter deadlock over the ballooning national deficit.
It is certain to ignite fury from Republicans if estimates of the staggering cost of the jobs package prove correct when the beleaguered president spells out full details to the nation in a rare joint session of Congress Thursday.

Rick Perry eased through his first Republican presidential debate tonight with a straight-talking and confident performance.
The Texas governor defied expectations he might falter on the national stage and batted off challenges from Mitt Romney on the economy, healthcare and social security.
Pulling no punches he repeated his controversial claims that social security is a 'Ponzi scheme', revealed that he backed the opening of Guantanamo Bay and won a huge round of applause for his staunch support of the death penalty.

Good Morning Morons; the morning doomy news is back!
I note that Grimy Gretchen loved Mittens and Steve Douche likes Huntsman. Gretchen also did a big interview of a “Dem debate coach” who of course loved Romney. WTF Gretchen? Interview a Dem for a Republican debate?
I didnÂ’t see the debate but it appeared the questions were ALL gotcha questions against Republicans and the candidate specifically. Yeah NBC, no bias there.
One thing loved about Perry in the quotes they threw out on F&F he wasnÂ’t afraid to call a lie a lie and a liar a liar.
I have tried to find a site with the transcripts but havenÂ’t been able to yet.

The Law: Operation Gunwalker, the rogue ATF operation to arm Mexico's cartels, extends now to three White House officials. A bell goes off with the one named Dan Restrepo.
Late last Friday, CBS News and the Los Angeles Times almost buried the news that Restrepo, the National Security Council's top man for Latin America, and two other officials, were in on ATF memos from the Gunwalker operation called "Fast and Furious."
That blows apart White House claims that it had no idea the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was encouraging frontmen for Mexico's cartels to buy weapons from U.S. gun dealers — to "trace" them afterward

“What the American people saw tonight was all of the Republican candidates reaffirming their allegiance to the extreme ideology of the Tea Party,” Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who chairs the Democratic National Committee, declared at 10:42 p.m.
“If you’re a middle class family looking for opportunity the GOP field once again offered no solutions tonight,” Wasserman Schultz said. “On issue after issue, Tea Party beliefs are taking hold of the Republican Party as they continually put the well-being of corporations, big oil, and special interests ahead of middle class Americans,” said her statement, which mentioned only Romney and Perry.

Perry wins more endorsements in SC but the two most critical ones are still open
The $64K question is “who will get the Haley and DeMint endorsement? Both are still open and we are now into the actual campaigning season. I’ll take this opportunity to also repeat that it is now post-labor day and the polls will now become more meaningful as “name recognition” drops and the leading poll driver. The further we get past labor day the less influence past name recognition becomes.

Debates are what Newt excels at because, being a tireless attention-monger, he's addressed all the topics the shitstains at MSLSD would question him on multiple times and flapping his mouth about those topics is second nature to him. Unfortunately for him (and fortunately for us) it's the only thing related to a successful Presidential campaign he does well in.

I'm looking at the 9/22 debate up next. FOX will do it so we won't deal with moderators debating candidates and trying to get a ganbang on 1 guy.
I'm thinking Perry will be more experienced in this setting and won't have to have just come back from a crisis in the state. If Perry underwhelms there too, i'll start getting worried.
I have a Perry-Hope pic as my main pic. I jumped on the Perry bandwaggon before he even announced, and I've gone toe-to-toe w/ Palinistas and Romneybots over Perry. But if he manages the tie I saw last night, I'll start worrying and being more quiet about my support and get on "wait and see" mode
The next week's polls should show some interesting developments but I predict Perry will keep his lead.

I am told he cut out a total of 12 to 14 inches. During the debrief he said that included in the cut we 24 lymph nodes one of which was cancerous. That made it stage-III.
My remark for that was "then that is a low level Stage-III." He then said they didn't measure it that way. (After doing a little research yesterday at the American Cancer Society site I find they do break it own in to subcategories).
And I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all for thoughts and prayers during my week sojourn in hospital-hell. (Note to Morons, don;t even think you will get any rest or sleep in a hospital)

CoolCzech,
Your criticism of Perry's performance is not too far off, but too, he had the most riding on his performance and if you think about it, he was taking fire on all fronts... and he was obviously tired .
I'll say this; I think the decision to sink or swim on SS being a ponzi scheme is a winner. People are going to respect straight talk... at least conservatives are. It's time to tell it like it is because this election is different. IF he can call SS out for what it clearly is ( worse than a ponzi scheme because we have no choice but to contribute) then he and the GOP in the house and senate will have a clear signal from the public to tackle it.
This will be a big election... time for the debate on what kind of country we are and will be. Not normal get-along move to the center stuff.... and that's just my take. I look forward to a better performance from Perry next debate.

I'll cut Perry some slack, though, because he was dealing with other shit (the fires) instead of debate prep and it's clear the mods were laying in ambush (two questions in particular - (1) re: military adventurism, either expressly take a dump on George Bush and tell us how he fucked everything up overseas, or do so implicitly by telling us what you'd have done differently, and (2) re: global warming, name some scientists you're relying on for disagreeing with us - seriously, you mutherfuckers? Ok fine, right after you tell me the President of Zanzibar, Brian) ....

I still cannot understand why a hispanic moderator had to be trotted out to ask questions about illegal immigration. Was that supposed to intimidate the candidates? A lame attempt to "moderate" their answers?
I mean, it would be like Brian Williams announcing that the next question concerns welfare reform..............and then from behind a curtain with the theme song from Shaft playing..................a black moderator is trotted out.

And yet, the school screamed about budget cuts for "education" when they have to balance the budget. We already contribute money for food stamps and WIK so WTF doe we need the schools funding meals for?

I don't know. I'm tired of this third rail horseshit that's been driven by the MFM donk enablers and would like to think that the voters are smarter than you would think given that they elected a SCoaMF. Maybe I'm wrong and we're really getting the government we truly deserve. I sure as fuck don't think young voters are counting on social security for anything; most of them I run into are far savvier on the unsustainability of it than the dumbfuck bluehairs who vote for Debbie Fatass Slutz and are planning on it not being available for them. Of course that doesn't include the lowlifes and crackheads who will never do a responsible thing in their hopefully short and miserable lives who plan on sucking off the government tit just like their worthless parents, at least one of which they don't even know. At some time in the future, young people will say "fuck this shit" as far as supporting a bunch of codgers who didn't do a fucking thing for them and will sell them off for target practice or pet food.

From an objective point of view Newt Gringrinch won the debate. He was in command of the facts and could communicate clear actions to remedy problems. Further, he could successfully control the moderators. That said, I don't think he wins the nomination. He would make an exceptional VP though.
Romney came off as palatable, but not believable. Huntsman is a diplomat, which makes him quality TeeVee personality. Again, there seems to be no serious conviction - its all style over substance. Perry looked rigid and communicated poorly. Given that he was the target of the moderators and other candidates his stiffness is explainable - but none the less his performance could have been better. Bachman is done. Please someone tell the others to just go away - Ron Paul cranky old man easily baited into lunancy by the moderators - Caine 9-9-9 is not a serious contender - Santorum looks a little dim but performs well.
Fianl analysis Perry, Romney and possibly Gringrinch. Perry wins Iowa - Romney takes NH and then the show goes to SC for a decision. From a pure stage presence and ability to tap dance I give Gringrinch kudos. Perry/Romney both look uncomfortable and unsure. Just sayin. Torch away.

If Newt could keep his outsized ego under control, this would be true; but I'm not sure he could. Newt always has to be thought of as the smartest person in the room; kind of like Biden with a functioning cortex. Cheney was great as a VP because he always deferred to GWB even when he obviously disagreed with him and just now is letting people get a clue about that. You'd need the world's biggest cork with Newt. He'd be better as a cabinet member although even then he might be a disaster with his tireless need for attention. Newt is better just spouting shit than actually governing.

Morning all! Well, I managed to fall asleep and completely miss the debate last night. *facepalm* My father watched a bit of it but gave up when it became clear the moderators were only going to keep trying to turn the candidates against each other instead of letting them speak to the failed policies of the SCOAMF's administration. Not surprising really, but still irritating. I'd ask who won, but I think I'll try and decide that myself if I can find archived video of the debate somewhere. It was on NBC, right? Or was it MSNBC?

Teh funny, Romney near the conclusion, back at his Obamanesque "promise anything, just get their votes" antic that didn't win him the '08 ticket: "Anyone making less than $200K won't have to pay taxes" '12 campaign promise.
Cain smacked that down with his "999 Tax Plan" that doesn't resort to Romney's presidential exemptionalism.
Again, Bachmann's supposed expertise was AWOL over the IRS and tax debate. So much for her "biological children" as distinct from the others who at this point being segregated by her are nearing a typecast as if "Non-biological" /androids/. Then Mitt had to brag about his adopted children entering America legally, to one-up the foster parent candidate. Sheesh.
Romney's lame kick the ObamaCare can down the road ploy was as pathetic as his former claim to being a luckless and unskilled hunter of varmints. Before, he used "executive order" as what he'd issue his first day in the Oval Office, but last night it was revised as "exemptions for all 50 states". Even Perry's response would not effectively eliminate ObamaCare, but leave it's roots intact rather than uprooted.
It's a crying shame that Newt Gingrich sold out to phony science and corrupt opportunism. That guy can lead the politicians and media by their noses and kick ass.
I notice that the hosting MSNBC poll, like the FOX poll after debate, shows the "winner" is clearly Ron Paul leading.

The thing I've noted about Newt from past debates, and it sounds like it was true again last night, is he's a great attack dog to call the newsies on their BS. I think he's at a point where he honestly doesn't give a shit and will happily tell the bastards to get the hell off his lawn. I don't think he's Presidential material, but if he could keep his overinflated ego in check he WOULD be a great talk show host.

Strange how if Texas is such a hell hole people keep showing up here from all over the country. I literally cannot remember the last time I heard someone say "I'm moving from Texas to [any other state] for a better job."
Perry's best line of attack on this front is comparisons between Texas and Illinois, which Obama & Co. fucked up royally. During the general this line of reasoning can be expanded: "If what you are saying is true, Barry, then how come every state in the Union enjoying that magical combination of Democratic politicians and labor union leadership has had its economy driven into the ground?"

SuperRick was tired from fighting the raging blazes bare handed, but he's not too tired to stay in Cali for some fundraisers.
He'll be raising less than he hoped after last night. Tampa upcoming is not going to be any better for him.
He didnt do poorly because he was tired, he did poorly because he lacks shrewedness and agility.
Perry's plan was to sweep to a coronation with a blitzkreig roll out that would demoralize Romney and preclude Palin from running, hopefully even securing her endorsement to finish off Mitt. This way, it would be over before Perry's multiple deficiencies became manifest in the course of a regular campaign.
This bluff has now fallen apart with Palin's attacks over Labor Day and Mitt's superior performance last night.
The ol Cowpoke is going to have to slug it out now, and its not going to go well. Its already not going well, the Perry push polls notwithstanding.
He's opened mutiple lines of attack on himself and will remain on the defensive.

New jobless claims rise to 414,000 last week
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - New U.S. jobless claims rose unexpectedly last week, further evidence of a weak labor market just hours before President Barack Obama delivers a major address to Congress on the issue.
Applications for unemployment benefits rose to 414,000 in the week ending September 3 from an upwardly revised 412,000 the prior week, the Labor Department said on Thursday. Wall Street analysts had been looking for a dip to 405,000...

I was sorry to see Perry stumble on the AWG topic, but I thought he got in a good line regarding Galileo facing an anti-science crowd. Next time, I sure hope he has really prepped for this as well as other topics.
I appreciate Perry not taking Rove's advice and calling out SS as a Ponzi scheme, but he needs a follow-up line, for example, pointing out the (Republican) Ryan plans approach to a SS transition purposefully did not hurt seniors or near seniors

Vic, yesterday I would have agreed with you. Today not so much. Newt brings alot to the table. If I am asked to forgive Romney for Romneycare or Newt for attempting bi-partisanship with a looney old lady, I am going to go with Newt. Newt has DC experience, knows where the bodies are buried and has demonstrated legislative, political and management success in a very tough town. Further, he has success in turning a libtard's mess into a governing coalition that achieved welfare reform and a balanced budget. No one else on that panel has anything close to these achievements. Now, he is a putz in many ways, but looking down the list of alternatives, we have many putzes to select from. If Perry had done better I would still be looking to him. From what I've seen it looks like Romney - Newt - and possibly Huntsman. Of those three I'll take Newt for the simple reason that he can pimpslap media and build coalitions. Everyone else struck me as merely slick and nervous.

CHICAGO (CBS) — The head of a local Islamic-American organization says that after this year, except for remembering its victims, it’s time for America to move on from the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
As WBBM NewsradioÂ’s Bernie Tafoya reports, Ahmet Rehab of the Chicago chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations says many people still are under the false impression that Islam is a radical religion, and that its believers want to change the U.S. into an Islamic state.
Rehab says the American people should not allow politicians, right-wingers and TV networks make them fear fellow Americans who are Muslim.

When criticism is based entirely on bias, not record or fact, not context, that criticism isn't worth the time it takes to read, let alone reject as fallacious.
"You can buy a gallon of gas for a silver dime."
Who is truthfully calling that a falsehood? Someone's sore about the truth hurting. Rather than be logical, kill the messenger, Gabe's headline "prophet without honor" regurgitating Ron Paul is unacceptable because paultard. No logic used in that emotionally disturbed juvenile outburst. Gangs of thugs don't prove what's right, anyway, so much for "popular" opinion.
In the least amount of time provided, Congressman Paul effectively illustrated his points. America's current problems regard the government's interference in free market, massively spending more than revenue provides, printing fiat "money" that isn't even funny, causing inflation during this Depression.
There is a revival of the Republican ideology (best represented today in the Libertarian/Republican constitutional platform) exercised by Sen.Taft (who'd been assigned to oversee the congressional distribution of American tax funds in Europe after WWI), then Goldwater, and early Reagan (prior to the attempted Reagan assassination, prior to the illegal Iran-Contra Affair exposed by the media, prior to the massive spending that mushroomed America's deficit). Naturally, the establishment enablers --despite claiming to want Constitutional Governance-- have vested interest in maintaining the corrupted status quo, clinging to their own destruction for comfort.
There's twisted irony in people who know exactly the deceits of the MSM, yet feel exonerated in their own submission to those very prejudiced propagandized deceits, as if to protect themselves by belonging to corruption and fraud. The same illustration applies to those in government. Ride that bandwagon heading over the cliff and enjoy the view. There's safety in numbers, especially in too big to fail enterprises.
To counter the revisionism that has effectively merged the Republican establishmentwith the Democrats since 1970 in the "common values" touted by Pelosi, Ron Paul initiated the Tea Party movement and agenda. Give credit where it's due. Admit your own prejudiced obtuse lack of logic. That false rumors are taken for granted to replace truth and fact encourages the demise of civility, as if the world according to Alinsky is all that America may have.
Morons responding with "I don't care what you think" inaccurately presume that I care what they think. Morons hurling "Paulbot" unwilling to exercise reading comprehension to know Ron Paul's writings, take the advise of General Honoré, "Don't stay stuck on Stupid."

He also said that anyone telling you that the SS was ok is a big fat liar. Then Romney opened his mouth and, well, lied.

That Newt shoves the MSM shit down the MSM throat is well worth his participation in debates. He likely realizes he isn't going to win. But the only way to participate in the process of developing our Republican agenda platform is through candidacy. Newt's part in dialogue shouldn't be terminated because he's been out of office any more than Reagan's legacy should be terminated since he's dead.
"Trusting" Newt is a fool's game. But when Newt's in form and on the level, he can assimilate a very forceful coalition. And no one else on that stage last night can boast that talent and highly cultivated skill.
I don't think that any of our candidates is doing any harm through participation. On the contrary, this primary season is exactly the proper time for everyone to air their views. Just as once the ticket is set, it is the proper time for the winner to incorporate the best ideas from all in order to solidify effective governance given victory by the coalition of voters.
May the best record win.

Setting Paul's policy positions aside for a moment, he's simply not a very accomplished member of Congress. For example, in the 111th Congress, he had one bill he introduced passed -- a bill to make a parcel of land in Galveston an historic district. That's pretty weak tea for an established Representative. So what makes you think he'd be a good President?

Seriously. The problem with the Paul supporters is that we're always in the realm of the hypothetical, never in the realm of realities. They like the idea of a Ron Paul presidency, but have no clue how it would actually shake out. There's really no evidence that Paul is a leader in any arena that I can see. I confess I was surprised by the results on GovTrack. He hasn't had a bill he introduced enacted in years (aside from the pork project to Galveston).
Posted by: Y-not at September 08, 2011 05:52 AM (5H6zj)
You're at it assbackwards.
As with Sen. Fred Thompson, I don't base support for a politician on how many pieces of legislation that politician sponsored and passed.
No surprise, you do, as if more laws is what America needs.
Until you've read one of Ron Paul's books, or at least viewed one of his entire speeches, you're willfully ignorant as to what his record represents and what his views are, and why.
Of all the candidates, including Newt, Ron Paul is the most well read and logical, and the best representation of the American Renaissance Man.
As to the debate last night, perhaps Bachmann fell shortest the mark. It isn't that she doesn't deliver her lines effectively. The problem rests in her lines.
