Huge power outage in Southern California
Apparently this outage was caused by failure of a power line from Arizona to CA. The West coast has significant power problems caused by two things. First California has become the NIMBY of NIMBY States and does not generate enough electricity to supply its needs even during days when demand is low. So they bring in power from out of State.
This line was AZ and probably being fed because they have those evil plants at Palo Verde that CA does not want. When the power being carried by a single line like that nears capacity or exceeds it for an extended period of time, it WILL fail. And that brings on the second major problem.
The Western power grid is called “The Great Western Doughnut”. Most of the country is just a spider web of interconnections. Because of the Rocky Mountains the West has a big doughnut shaped grid. Failures anywhere in their grid causes ripples which circle the grid causing cascading failures at a rate higher than in other parts of the country.
The solution, like almost all grid problems, involves building more local power plants for both steady state base load and for spinning reserves when any one major power source is lost. Too bad CA has neither of those.
If the economy wasnÂ’t in such a mess right now we would be seeing a lot more of these blackouts and not just in CA. This is because base load is controlled by factories and major businesses in operation, not the type of fraking light bulbs you may have one or two burning in your house.
So all of you watermelon eco-tard CA commies, eat those damn CFL light bulbs and shit some power. Otherwise welcome to the dark.

As expected, Obama's jobs rhetoric is more of the same shit
President Barack ObamaÂ’s $450 billion economic proposal unveiled Thursday night is a familiar medley of targeted tax cuts and spending programs, coupled with a promise of future spending cuts and a demand for new taxes on companies and wealthier individuals.
So it is $450M, about half of the first porkulous.
However, he did not detail his proposal to fund the $450 billion cost of the plan. The details will be released September 19, he said.
The word prior to the speech was that it would be funded after he left office by our old “friend – unspecified spending cuts down the road and his cousin, revenue enhancements”.
The president presented himself as a fiscal moderate, and the champion of ordinary Americans.
Another claim so outrageous it screams to world; why is the press not mocking this lying idiot?
Next week, the administration will send Congress the draft legislative language needed to debate and pass the jobs act, said Jay Carney, the White HouseÂ’s spokesman.
So we get to the heart of this call for a joint session of congress. It is nothing more than a political grandstanding kabuki theater designed to give him more ammunition to attack Republicans. This is truly unprecedented.
This is what you get when you do not have free press.

Interesting article on ridiculous DWS advertisement strawman on support for more pork
BTW, the cost of the Hoover damn in 1931 dollars was $50M. That is about $710M in today’s money, or about ¾ of the total porkulous-I spending bill which did little or nothing for infrastructure.

The Teton Basin Project
At a House subcommittee hearing on August 5, 1976, Congressman Leo J. Ryan, of California, described the Teton Dam failure as "one of the most colossal and dramatic failures in our national history."(1) The dam's collapse was the first in the Bureau of Reclamation's nearly seventy-five year history. Eleven lives were attributed to the tragedy.(2) The dam failure cost millions of dollars in damages, and led to increased attention placed on dam safety by Reclamation and other Federal dam building agencies.
Now of course, the greenies are advocating tearing down the ones we have. They interfere with nature or some such rot.

Is a bear Catholic? Does the Pope shit in the woods?
What else do you expect him to do? In fact, what the hell else can he do? Babbling about unformulated plans and basking in the adoration of the multitudes (after they are carefully screened to ensure maximum suckage) is all the stuttering clusterf*** of a miserable failure knows how to do.
In that line, a scan of the NY Slimes's headlines (no need to read; the headlines and subheads give enough info) today reveals a total reversion to full-on Osama Obama worship. He Has Saved Us! David Brooks is capable of erections again, and the editorial board is producing enough drool to fill Lake Michigan.

OK, the Post office can go bankrupt now. Evolution has filled their ecological niche:
Amazon Testing Locker System That Lets You Pick Up Package At 7-11
For some of us with day jobs getting a delivery from Amazon can be a bit of a pain. You can't have the delivery driver leave the package outside, which means you wait in line at the post office or UPS or FedEx depot to pick it up. But according to reports, Amazon is about set to test a new system that would deliver packages to a locker inside your local 7-11 store.
When the package is actually delivered, the customer receives an email notification along with a bar code to his smartphone and heads to the 7-Eleven. There he'll stand in front of the locker system, which looks like the offspring between an ATM machine and a safety deposit box. The machine will scan the bar code on his handset to receive a PIN number. He'll punch that PIN number and retrieve the package.

It's been about the same length of time since a new nuclear reactor was proposed, licensed and built. All the ones we have are nearing the end of their life cycles; they provide around 20% of our electricity.

No longer content to turn the other cheek about what he calls an “increase in public nudity” in the Castro neighborhood he represents, San Francisco Supervisor Scott Wiener1 said that he plans to introduce a measure to make such behavior more “sanitary.”
WienerÂ’s proposal would not outlaw the practice of "dropping trou" on the streets of San Francisco, but would rather require so-called naturists to be a little more respectful of othersÂ’ hygiene concerns.
If the measure is passed, naked people who are out and about would be required to place something between their posteriors and public seating before alighting. And they would also be required to wear clothing in restaurants.
"San Francisco is a liberal and tolerant city, and we pride ourselves on that fact," Wiener said in a written statement. "Yet, while we have a variety of views about public nudity, we can all agree that when you sit down naked, you should cover the seat, and that you should cover up when you go into a food establishment."
Hate crime! Hands off our bodies Mr. Bush!

Gnubreed, so much confidence in earth-filled dams, temporary fixtures at best.
The early 20th-Century initial Reclamation "Minidoka Project" traditional concrete dam system on the Snake River survived Idaho's Teton "Dam" earth-berm failure, though Sugar City, Rexburg, and every town in the flood were washed away. The Teton Dam melted under the running water pressure before it was completed. Blessing in disguise? Had there been more water in that reservoir at the time of collapse and flooding, the dams down hill wouldn't have managed, drained or not, more water than arrived.
Initiated in 1969, responsibility for the plans rest in the Nixon-Ford administrations, partnered with Knudsen-Morrison awarded the construction contract.
So much for surveys and studies in advance, given a priori policy bias to build no matter. Study of the dam's environment and structure placed blame on the collapse on the permeable loess soil used in the core and on fissured (cracked) rhyolite in the foundations of the dam that allowed water to seep under the dam.

On August 18, 2011, the TVA board of directors approved the completion of Bellefonte Nuclear Plant Unit 1 in Hollywood, Alabama. When it begins commercial operation between 2018 and 2020, the 1,260 megawatt reactor will be the largest in TVA's nuclear fleet. Bellefonte's output will be equal to the electricity needs of 750,000 homes, and its power will cost less than most other energy alternatives.
You would not believe the hoops TVA has had to jump through to get this far. And this was "fast tracked".

As for the collapse being caused by a single switching error here is an analogy that may help you understand that.
Imagine a lawn sprinkler system all cross-connected with 3 feeder lines from wells supplying 10 gpm max flow each. Each sprinkler head will use ½ gpm at minimum system pressure. In order to supply the minimum flow, the sprinkler heads require 30 psi pressure head. That minimum pressure is reached when total flow in the system reaches 30 gpm.
There are 100 sprinkler heads in the system so if one attempts to place all of them in service at the same time the system will exceed maximum available flow and it will collapse. All the heads and the supply lines are remotely controlled from a panel inside a house nearby.
The system is in service with 60 heads in service flowing 30 gpm at 30 psi. The operator in the house as a mimic panel that represents the heads and supply lines with labeled switched for each one. He is in the process of switching off one head in order to place a different head in service as he is rotating the area of the lawn to be watered. He reaches down to close off head 1-3A but instead grabs switch 2-3A which close the supply header from well 3. This causes the supply to be immediately be reduced to two wells which can not supply the current load and the entire system collapses when pressure goes below 30 psi.Posted by: Vic at September 09, 2011 04:25 AM (M9Ie6)

And I will give the Obamanites some credit. The energy bill they passed did have a provision to reimburse utilities if excessive delays are caused by eco-tard litigation. That more than anything spurred new construction.
What would have been better would have been to limit the ability of the eco-tards to do serial litigation.

Well if SSDI didn't exist then at least half the professional criminal class claiming disability wouldn't have government cash to start their drug businesses and buy weapons. The welfare queens cranking out broods of check children would have far less cash on hand from having their children declared 'disabled' too.

Albert and Isaac are playing a game. Isaac is standing on the Earth while Albert zooms by in a spaceship at 99% the speed of light, during which he shows Isaac a one-meter stick and a ten kilogram bowling ball he has stashed on board the ship; he also displays a poster in a window of the ship for one minute as he goes by.
From Isaac's perspective, how long does Albert's one-meter stick appear to be, how much does the bowling ball weigh, and how long was Albert's poster displayed?

You use super capacitors instead of batteries and drill several hundred feet down into the earth to hold them vertically like underground skyscrapers. The ground itself acts an insulator, assuming the right geological conditions. Of course this will never happen because the greens are against any form of drilling period.

Perhaps a young, new VP with no personal network of political alliances could be left simply posing for media pictures and visiting dignitaries. And putting a promising young good looking Quayle into the VP cut Dan's elected political career to the quick. (Maybe Quayle preferred leaving public office.)
When it comes to getting a professional ring leader in Congress fighting on the President's behalf to accomplish an agenda, Newt shouldn't be overlooked just because we know his warts and all. why?

I am especially charmed that little Sarahcuda's "union brothers and sisters" up in Wash state are now in the kidnapping and illegal detainment business without facing prosecution.....
Sarah has potential to be a Schlafley, but she is not going to be President until she stops the rockstar nonsense and rebuilds her resume.
I was one of her biggest fans here in '08 last year and much of this but at the end of the day unless she embraces a role of kingmaker and subtle influencer for a while she is just generating noise and something for the M$M to point at.
The notions put forth are not unique to her, and seem sensible but the press jihad against her anytime she is a threat and the lack of a position of resume authority means she is no more able to mount a decent defense of her position than Janeane Gorillafella on MSNBC and Olberdouche can take down Limbaugh. Had she hopped in even two months ago I'd be lobbying back home in ohio trying to stir up primary votes but she waited too long. I feel the same way about Coulter's little bowling ball Christie by the way.

1. I was told there would be no math
2. There's a huge flaw in your query. Assuming Isaac is looking at Albert zooming by at .99c, he'd never see him. Albert would have to be well inside in the athmosphere to see a 1m stick. Between athmospheric friction and the gravity well, Albert would be very dead. If Albert stayed outside the athmosphere, Isaac wouldn't be able to see him with the naked eye. If Isaac used a telescope or other light-gathering/magnification took, that would skew the result.
3. You have a spaceship that goes .99c and you're playing games with meter-long yardsticks and bowling balls? What kind of retard are you?

Yeah, I don't think you realize how massive an undertaking that would be.
Consider that, to run a house for about an hour, even with most super capacitors (withing current technological limits) it would take a 9000 cu. ft. (not actually as big as it seems) "battery" (capacitor, really) to run a house for about an hour. (Those numbers may be off slightly, they were back-of-the-napkin numbers from my engineer uncle).
For all practical purposes, Wind and Solar will never be more than supplemental energy providers. They actually work fairly well on a relatively small scale- homes, for instance, if you can afford the cost of entry and the conditions at your residence happen to be just right.

you can....the thing is you have to be savage about your HVAC solution and it in all likelihood would be best to use a geothermal heat pump/sink like Dubya the most GREEN PotUS in his personal life in modern times does.....
hell were a person so inclined they can install a LNG/Propane feed to their refrigeration solution and reduce their consumption by a good margin....
throw in a cistern using reflective paint/black paint to regulate ambient temperature and you can reduce the necessity for a huge water heating solution....
it can be done, but it is neither cheap nor portable.

9000 cf is roughly 20' on each side. put into perspective, it's roughly four 40' shipping containers/semitrailers (2360 sf each.)
So with only 48 semi-trailers of starage capacitors, you can power the house for 12 hours.
Wouldn't it just be simpler to burn coal?

She did not become Sarah the successful reformer in Alaska overnight either, I donate to her pac, and had she thrown her hat in earlier I'd be donating to her campaign but she didn't and I have moved on this cycle. What she does have the potential to do is help push someone over the finish line and grant some RiNO squish like Romney some conservative cover and I hope she does....

.75ft2 x 250 = 187.5ft2
And that doesn't take into account the room necessary for maintenance, etc.

Good morning, morons.
I haven't been here a long time but I have enjoyed it. Many of you know I have been unemployed and broke for a while. So I wanted to let you know that yesterday I finally got a job, and a good one. It is almost miraculous. In fact, I got a second almost-offer right after the first one came in. Crazy. This has been a hard slog for me, but now I feel like I can do anything! I still have a credit report in tatters that will take time to repair, a lot of debt to dig out of, and two kids to get through college, but now I know I will be able to do that. Somehow my marriage survived this and I didn't kill anyone, though I sure thought about it a few times. ;-)
I will be working for a bank, one of the good ones that did not take any TARP money or do any subprime loans or crazy stuff. Amazingly it is the only major bank that is based in my area, so I will not have to move, though I will have an hour commute. I will be helping this bank deal with all the Dodd-Frank nonsense and some CRA stuff. I took a 25% pay cut from my last fulltime job, and that kinda sucks, but I am lucky to have gotten this job and I am not going to complain about the money. Besides, I have become so thrifty now that it will feel like I am back to my old salary.
If anyone needs advice on looking for a job, I have a ton of it. Hit me up on the Yahoo group. I worked with a recruiter on this job and he was fantastic.

I have been saying for a long time that "electability" is a self-fulfilling BS term used to advance an agenda unless you are talking about some fringe nutcase that is so far outside of the mainstream that less than 1% of the population would support them even after knowing all about them.
prime example are the likes of David Dukes.

Some of Sarah Palin's Ideas Cross the Political Divide (NYT blog) LINK
But something curious happened when Ms. Palin strode onto the stage last weekend at a Tea Party event in Indianola, Iowa. Along with her familiar and predictable swipes at President Barack Obama and the “far left,” she delivered a devastating indictment of the entire U.S. political establishment — left, right and center — and pointed toward a way of transcending the presently unbridgeable political divide.

I am holding her to that standard because if you're a dark horse be a dark horse....
the only way she can kick the moneychangers out of temple is to have the force of the party middle leadership behind her.....
that is how Newt, DeLay, and Boehner did it in '91-'92 over the house Bank where the old guard GOP leadership was willing to trade giving the donks a pass to protect 2 or 3 dirty republicans.....
her behavior strikes me as someone who thinks they are going to be crowned "the saviour" when they are already a damaged brand who will have a terribly hard drive no matter what.....
I just don't see her as being serious enough about cultivating a base of allies at the mid state level enough to be a serious reformer or power broker....
I wish I did.

Given the plight of his own constituents, Lloyd Doggett (D) is joining the chorus of Texan officials being given Obama's deaf ear.
Obama postponed his pet EPA regulations as if to exonerate himself from any onus to extinguish the wildfire state of emergency. It's as if Obama considers wildfires as a source of energy. Why burn coal when he can burn Texas?
Given all the speeches Obama makes, no mention of Texas except some pork for his friend representing Houston, Sheila Jackson Lee. As if she needs more fat in her diet. But anything to insure her "One Voice" allegiance, and her re-election. Whatever federal funds are directed to highway construction get spent along the way before any roadwork is laid. How many "under construction" shovel-ready highway signs will clog Houston freeway shoulders for how many years until the pork's all gone with nothing but gluttony to show for it's consumption? It isn't as if the new pork will convert any of TXDOT's tollroads into non-toll freeways. More likely, any new construction on present highways will convert them into the exorbitant tollroads TXDOT already imposes on travelers.

The problem with that is that the columnist obviously hasn't been listening for the last two years. That's what just about everybody in the Tea Party movement has been saying (and some have been saying even longer than that).
Let's sum up the points:
1) We shouldn't have an Aristocracy ruling over us- For Government to be "of the people" it has to be made up of regular working folks.
2) Business != Capitalism. A big business that uses its size and wealth to gain competitive advantage via legislation is not capitalism.
3) The "enemy" is not Democrats as such (for Tea Partiers), it's a big, unaccountable government and their corporate vassals.
This wouldn't be news if they'd actually been listening.
However, for someone late to the party, it wasn't bad.

Why does "professional advisors" follow from what I said? (Assuming that by that term you mean folks like Weaver)
I was actually thinking more along the lines of some evidence of her listening to folks like Dick Cheney or Fred Thompson. But I do think she needs to bag the folks on her team who keep advising her to respond every time some third-rate celebrity or a potential political rival makes a snide remark. And I think it's damned clear that hagiographic books and movies, not to mention bus tours, have not done a single thing to make her more acceptable to a broader cross-section of voters.
Whether or not she'd need "professionals" or merely folks who work more professionally (as true advisors and not fans) is a minor question. Right now her entourage is closer to Ruby Rhod's (super green!) than what you might want to see in the WH.

I am continually amused by all the press folks who opine endlessly about how "Sarah Palin doesn't seem to be doing anything" right before she does something completely unexpected and garners days of coverage. You'd think folks would catch on after awhile and stop saying she isn't doing anything.
Every day that another currently-declared candidate does something dumb is another day that validates a strategy of waiting until the last possible moment to officially declare. Bachmann has faded. Perry had a poor national debate debut. Romney continues being flip-flop Mitt.
I'm not saying she will run. I hope she will. But if she does, events are validating a wait-and-see approach on her part.
Incidentally, to the point about caricatures of candidates being hard to overcome, why do none of the Perry folks seem to even acknowledge the difficulty Perry will have escaping being stereotyped as a less-articulate, even-more-puffed-up version of George W. Bush?
MCDNC did their best, with Romney's disgraceful but effective help, to paint Perry out-of-the-gate as Bush version 2.0, dumber and more "Texas-y." And he stepped right into the trap with his answers and general demeanor.
Why is Tina Fey a problem for Palin and Bush isn't a problem for Perry?

There wasnÂ’t one single mention in a speech about jobs and economic stimulation that addressed the need for the energy necessary to support it

If Obama was serious about economic expansion, weÂ’d have heard a serious approach to domestic energy production last night. The fact that we didnÂ’t demonstrates ObamaÂ’s lack of depth in economics, perhaps even more than his retread of Porkulus did.

Yes, exactly. The sentiments embodied in the Tea Party are nothing new. Those sentiments are what got Reagan elected.
Ross Perot tapped into those anti-Washington sentiments in '92. But the fact that they were used to get Bill Clinton elected, made them go dormant for a while.....Not go away. Just go dormant, still simmering under the surface.
The tyranny of Obama brought them to the surface again. Critical mass was reached.

First, you're asking the wrong people. None of the folks here, even those of us who have become disenchanted with Palin, factor Tina Fey per se into that rationale. I doubt most of us even watch Tina Fey. Some point out that it makes it harder for Palin to be taken seriously -- something she could have countered by getting a serious gig after she resigned, perhaps. But that's merely pointing out what most polls support about the broader public's view of Palin.
Second, who says Bush isn't a problem for Perry? Of course it is. That's why Rove is beating that drum and criticizing Perry for how he has tried to distance himself from Bush. The difference is, however, that Perry can make arguments based on what his is currently accomplishing, and what he has accomplished, to make the case he's not Bush. All Palin seems to do is point to her enthusiastic base of supporters to prove she's someone worthy to be taken seriously.
Palin has the same problem that Romney, Gingrich, or any of the "formers" have. She doesn't currently have a job, so her ability to counter is limited. Add to that that her last job was cut short by a scandal - whether manufactured or not - and it's a tougher hill to climb.

look I was one of the first 2000 people to donate to SarahPac....
I maxed out the wife and my donation allowance to McCain after he picked Sarah making it clear to the RNC it was ONLY because of Sarah and finally fed them some love too since I hated Steele.
Sarah Palin does not have 1/3d of Reagan's street cred to move the party that is my point. Reagan was a force and had a presence down to county level in every major state in the union by the time he was readying to leave being cali governor he never tried to alter the party overnight. He was not easily ridiculed because his political speeches and pieces were damn near bulletproof.
He cultivated political friendships and alliance taking advice from Milton Friedman, Hayek, and other stars of the Chicago school of economics. He crafted an alliance with the woman who slew radical feminism's constitutional overreach Phyllis Schlafly. He single handedly made the case for why Universal healthcare is intrinsically unAmerican and stopped it cold.
You are not hearing me.....
I want what works as a reform, not what doesn't.
What she does, how she does it is her business she will make her case and choices and I will follow or not what I do not need is a Glenn beck style professional crybaby who does not build the infrastructure to succeed in seeing a reform through.
That is a waste of her time and influence and it would be a waste of my geometrically less powerful time and influence.
If I wanted a beyond reproach, non-credentialed, media rockstar who wants to mouth feelgood platitudes and pretend reformer credibility on the national level I can run and join the pied piper's parade that is already there....
and be with the media labeled "cool kids".
She has to build the credibility to be a force, she wasted the last 9 months after she almost treed healthcare.
I give her credit she shone in spots, but she didn't seal the deal like Reagan did.
"moderates" and Conservatives who focus all their attention on flailing "reform" of the GOP alone elect democrats.....
ask Perot, RON PAUL111!!!, and bob Barr about it....throw in a game attempt by Patsy Buchanan as well.
You reform the GOP by cultivating silent political alliances within in it to force it to your will and then getting the voters to demand the party go your way.
She's forgetting to build the network within as well as without.

Posted by: cherry pi, terrorist hostage taking SOB at September 09, 2011 06:12 AM (OhYCU)
It is a serious problem that she has spent three years working on. As much as people like to diss her FB posts, she has a long virtual paper trail of serious, on-point, and effective policy articles published through that medium.
No other candidate has written that much over the last three years about so many different aspects of public policy. Nor as effectively. "Death panels," anyone? None of them.
The evidence is out there that she's been doing the work. Hong Kong, India, and Israel trips and speeches. South Korea in a few weeks. She's been hiding her policy chops in plain sight.
That is aside from all the other marketing of herself through the tv show, Fox gig, etc. The reality show especially was targeted to the exact people she speaks about in her speeches: middle and working class average Americans. Who do you think watches reality tv? There is a consistent theme to everything she has done over the last three years if you only open your eyes. She is specifically appealing through a variety of media to the very folks we always say we need, the so-called "Reagan Democrats."
I"m not saying it'll work. But things that seem random and disconnected when they occur often become clearer and obvious in hindsight.
I just don't think that Perry has done, or can do in the next 14 months, the kind of work Sarah Palin has obviously been doing over the last 3 years. She has worked for 3 years to beat back a stereotype of her that is completely manufactured and is only 3 years, to what degree of success is debatable.
Perry has 14 months to beat back a stereotype of Bush/Texas that has been around for over a decade. And he isn't trying to overcome the stereotype, he's embracing it. I just don't see that as a winning strategy in a country that still thinks that Bush started the problem that Obama has made exponentially worse.

Well, yes, but "strategically valuable" != ally.
Turkey has never been an ally to us except when it was convenient for them. We need to kick them out of NATO and stop providing any support (I presume we send them money- we do to everyone else). Then we need to send them the dreaded "strongly worded letter" that says "F*ck with Israel and we'll turn Istanbul into glass. Oh. And then we'll start calling it Constantinople, just because we can."

Yes, that's what I said. That's what a lot of people have been saying.
It is a serious problem that she has spent three years working on. As much as people like to diss her FB posts, she has a long virtual paper trail of serious, on-point, and effective policy articles published through that medium.
I submit to you that her strategy is not working. It's time for her to choose a new strategy. I think if she shook up her team and brought in some new ideas she might have more success.
Further, I do not want to risk losing to Obama by running someone who image rehabilitation is still a work in progress.
I just don't think that Perry has done, or can do in the next 14 months, the kind of work Sarah Palin has obviously been doing over the last 3 years. She has worked for 3 years to beat back a stereotype of her that is completely manufactured and is only 3 years, to what degree of success is debatable.
So I guess you're saying neither is electable. Palin, because she still has an image problem after three years and Perry because he has an image problem after three weeks.
Perry has 14 months to beat back a stereotype of Bush/Texas that has been around for over a decade. And he isn't trying to overcome the stereotype, he's embracing it.
That's simply not true. Perry was criticized by Rove this week for his remarks contrasting himself with Bush (by referencing their alma maters). Heck, I think it's possible Perry's own people released his A&M transcripts just to help solidify the difference between the two.
I also think it's an oversimplification - and inaccurate - to meld "Texas" with "George Bush." Bush's image was of a pampered guy who got into Yale and Harvard because of his family connections, not because of his intellect. That's really not the stereotypic Texan.
I think Perry is banking on the theory that people don't dislike Texans, per se, but rather the cartoon version of George W. Bush and the failures of his administration. That's why he is running as himself - a self-made, rugged individualist (including switching parties, incidentally) who has a focus on the most pressing domestic issues right now and has achieved results in Texas.

I have a hard time singling them out for feeling that way. We haven't exactly bent over backwards to accommodate them as well: Support for the Kurds (which I agree with but it didn't make the Turks very happy) and political grandstanding by the donks over the Armenian genocide (I thought it was strange that the commiecrats concentrated on banging them over that). Friends of mine in Germany tell me that the immigrant Turks are very Westen oriented and about as far from the Wahabbi shitstains as you can find.
You're quite correct that the country has gone in the shitter over the past few years; I'm just pointing out that wasn't always the case.

Okay, to replace the worn out "Longbow vs Crossbow" argument, I suggest replacing it with "Battle Line v Skirmish. (Re: the Revolution and War of Northern Aggression)"
I'll start:
Skrimish tactics only work once you have semi-automatic weapons, or when fighting in relatively enclosed places. For colonists (or the Union or Confederacy) to attempt to use skirmish tactics in big battle would have been suicide.

Amen. Our so-called Allies in Europe must all be re-evaluated and their usefullness, and level of commitment, more honestly assessed. Germany and France and most of the other western continental nations are useless now. I'd keep Britain, Poland, and any others in the east that seem like reliable helpers in our struggle against Russia and the M.E.
I also think it's time to unleash Japan and encourage them to militarize as much as possible. In my opinion it was a shame we didn't work to be more accomodating of their expansion into China in the pre-WW2 period. We weren't really taking advantage of our Chinese holdings. Why not let Japan take over the headache? They could have spent their aggression on the asian mainland as we made $ selling them our scrap iron. Many mistakes have been made in the far east, which have left us with countless headaches. Putting that mess right may not be possible, but I hope that the worst possible outcomes can be avoided, or at least mitigated.

you are not criticizing Palin for trying to do in 2 years what took Reagan 20.
There is no reason for her to even humor Presidential aspirations or the appearance of aspirations if she is seriously laying an infrastructure. It is wasted energy. She cannot at this point even carry Reagan's 1960 jockstrap.
You are incorrect by the way about Reagan not having a shadow party within the party, Reagan was within 3% of unseating Ford in '76 and should have...
it took a Herculean effort of the old guard to stop Reagan had he not picked a moderate Rockefeller Republican as his VP if nominated he would have gotten it in all likelihood.
The guy he picked was so odious that Jesse Helms flipped, and they lost 5 conservatives for ever 2 liberal republicans he gained.....
sound familiar?
Reagan was one of the driving forces behind Goldwater's machine. Reagan lost to Ford in part because he had not built up the rust belt enough in his previous work. Ohio was a big blow.
Sarah does not have that kind of pull yet and seems focused on playing stalking horse in a very vital race snarking on the people who are running.
She keeps it up she will continue alienating Palinistas to whatever degree, she costs us the race somehow something Reagan never did she'll lose a lot more.

Just two weeks before the 9/11 hijackers slammed into the Pentagon and World Trade Center, members of a Saudi family abruptly vacated their luxury home near Sarasota, leaving a brand new car in the driveway, a refrigerator full of food, fruit on the counter — and an open safe in a master bedroom.
In the weeks to follow, law enforcement agents not only discovered the home was visited by vehicles used by the hijackers, but phone calls were linked between the home and those who carried out the death flights — including leader Mohamed Atta — in discoveries never before revealed to the public.
The FBI knew about this 10 years ago per the article. This looks like ruh roh material.

Agreed. The use of a rifled barrel made skirmishing more effective than it normally would have been in the Revolutionary War period, but as I recall the bulk of the army used smooth bore muskets, which could not be effectively aimed. You needed a mass of fire that only an organized line of men can provide.
By the time of the civil war the rifled barrel was the norm, which greatly enhanced the effectiveness of the weapon, but you still had the issue of control. Coordinating fighting units on a battle field with no radios was a mess. It was hard enough to move columns and lines around - controlling an army of highly mobile skirmishers would have been impossible.

I'm not Vic, but we actually get energy from Nuclear reactors in the same way (more-or-less) that we do from coal, or oil: we use generated heat to boil water. We would do the same thing with fusion that we do with fission.
As I understand it, the problems with fusion come from containment (we don't want to build what we think is a power-plant, but is actually a bomb).

Yes, that's true. I guess you mean a double standard. That's actually not true. I put Romney and Gingrich in the same category as Palin. In fact, I often criticize Romney for not having used the time since he left the governorship to do something constructive and I call his resume dusty. The difference is, Romney's resume is more impressive to me (not his policies, necessarily, but his actual work history) and the polls show that he has a broader base of support.
However, as I mentioned the other day, even if Romney disavowed (and dissected) Masscare and Obamacare - and said the right thing on cap & trade - he would still be well below Perry. I'm looking for accomplishments that are relevant to the situation at hand, not rhetoric.
You say that her strategy isn't working. Really? What is she failing at?
She's failing at broadening her base. I actually think she's narrowed it.
She's failing at adding to her list of accomplishments in areas that matter for being an effective president.
And she's apparently failing at making any money off of that movie.
Winning the Presidency? She's not even running and she's in third place or so.
Is she? It's hard to gauge her support because she is not really included on all polls.
Look, we're not going to persuade each other of Palin's suitability for President this time around. The only reason I jumped in to respond to phoenixgal, is that I really would like to at least help us to be talking in concrete terms with each other about what we are actually saying, instead of the tendency (we all have) to generalize or drift off topic based on our frustrations with what other folks have said about Palin or Perry or any of this stuff. I think we can do that and I think we need to do that so we can still listen to each other when crunch time comes and we have to vote.
Posted by: Y-not at September 09, 2011 06:36 AM (5H6zj)
I obviously disagree about Palin's strategy because we haven't seen the end-product of an actual declared campaign, and we may not. I think we will, but I have no more information on that than anyone else.
On Perry, I think there is no way that he can overcome the Texas stereotype. That's a stark statement, I know. It has been beat into ordinary people's minds for a decade what Texas is and what Republicans from Texas are. It isn't fair and it isn't accurate but it is what people believe.
And he is determined to play to that stereotype, not against it. His contention isn't that George W. Bush isn't too Texas, it is that Bush wasn't Texas enough. How do you defeat a stereotype by being even more of the stereotype? It doesn't make any sense.
Perry fans here the death penalty answer as a reasonable response to a gotcha question. Average people hear it as, "Yep, we fry 'em in Texas, baby!" And SS is a "Ponzi scheme!" Old people hear that he's gonna take their checks and don't hear the part before about preserving the system for current retirees.
Combine that with his finger pointing, chest out stance, looking out over the audience with his eyes squinting, with that high-tenor, west Tx accent and he checks all the boxes in people's Texas/Bush stereotype list.
His supporters may think bold tough talk is the answer. Done the way he does it, it is a loser in a general election. The Obama folks have to be laughing their asses off thinking that we would be stupid enough to run Bush on steroids against them.

Europe is done. It's time has passed, and it's not coming back. The only nation capable of bringing Europe back, Germany, is still suffering from a slew of mental issues related to institutionalized post war guilt. All that said the destruction of her image by the M$M happened and the GOP did not do enough to help protect her in the stupor that infected it after election '08.
I have a lot of rage at the McCain wing over their abandoning her to be the national democratic machine and corrupt AK GOP's punching dummy I assure you.

Control is less the problem (though it is one) than Rate of Fire.
If I have a massed formation 3 deep using Civil War era mini-ball rounds, I can fire a shot every 20 seconds. (Yes, at the time, that was unbelievably fast). Skirmishers just couldn't get the mass of lead in the air to be able to overcome that.
Once semi-automatic (and, later, fully automatic) weapons became the norm, however (especially with aim improvements that rifling provided), skirmish tactics began to work much better.
It really wasn't until fully automatic weapons (like the Gatling gun, and, eventually, machine guns) came into their own that it became actively bad to mass your troops, though.

I didn't see the Faker-in-Chief's speech last night, but am watching clips of the *ahem* highlights right now.
This dude has totally shot his wad. Rhetoric and flourish only works if the listeners buy in, and most of America simply isn't buying what he's selling.
So go on, run back into the arms of your buddies Barry ... the unions, the media, academia, the victims' groups ... you do that. But know this: the word on the street from 55-60% of America is fuck you, we're tired of your lies and bullshit.
I didn't see it either, but I knew what he was going to say before he even said it. I even knew what his tone of voice would be before any words came out of his mouth.
I think I might get a 1-900 number and give Miss Cleo a run for her money.
Looking forward to Mark Steyn's insightful, witty analysis of this speech today. It should be entertaining.

Why do you think the fission is uncontrolled? Its not.
Posted by: Vic at September 09, 2011 06:46 AM (M9Ie6)
No. Fusion actually releases far more energy than does fission, so it's harder to contain.
Fission may have the ability to go into overload (though we've pretty well solved that little problem), but fusion starts out there. We simply do not have the ability to contain the energy released by nuclear fusion.
I saw an article some months ago where several nuclear physicists are starting to think (as Vic seems to) that cold-fusion (which would be required for us to contain the energy from the reaction) is a pipe-dream. Maybe the article was a IO9 or The Register? I can't remember.

If I understand correctly, some of the proposed fusion methods, like Polywell (currently getting some Navy research funding), would generate electricity directly, without the boiler/steam turbine arrangement of fission nukes.

>>>I guess that presents a catch-22 for Germany. Historically, Teutonic nationalism hasn't worked out so well.
I think Germany could do just fine with nationalism, it was the overly militaristic Prussian nationalism that was problematic, but that's long gone. Most of what was once Prussia is now occupied by various other nations such as Poland or Russia. The old Junkers are long gone. The uniforms and pagentry too.
They faired pretty well between 1866-1888. It's just that gimp Kaiser Wilhem II who pushed them further and further towards confrontation with the other powers and was entirely unreasonable

Why would you consider Palin and Romney alike? Romney has been an announced candidate for a while. He has been pretty much committed to running for President since 2007. Romney's goal is to get Romney elected.
Palin isn't running. Again, I think she has a different goal in mind. If she isn't doing what you think she should do as a candidate, could be that, you know, she's not a candidate.
--
OK, I think we have a disconnect.
I am only interested in Palin right now - or anyone right now - insofar as they are either running for president or helping us unseat Obama and replace him with a non-Ron Paul Republican.
Until Palin says she is not running, she is in the mix. That's obviously intentional on her part (motivations are unclear to me - could be to drive book and movie sales or could be to be a king maker by holding onto a base of primary supporters she can send a candidate's way or could be she's running but is holding off for some reason). So when I think about Palin, it really only has to do with that context. I don't care about her career, per se.

How do Perry people simultaneously believe that SP can't overcome stereotypes about her that are only 3 years old and that she has been working every day for those three years to overcome, but Perry can overcome stereotypes that are 10 years old that he not only isn't working to overcome but is actively embracing?
You do realize that a significant proportion of the independent voters out there stil blame Bush for the economic downturn? They blame Obama for making it worse. The last thing they think is gonna fix things is bringing back another version of Bush.
It ain't fair and it ain't right but it is what it is. Saying that "I like cowboys" doesn't change the fact that a lot of people don't. We're already going to win Texas. We need to win in Ohio.
Ohioans had 8 years of a "Texas president." I don't hear a great clamor in Ohio for another 4 years of one. If you think Bush 2.0 is going to drive up turnout in Hamilton County and discourage turnout in Cuyahoga County, you're on crack.
And those are the counties that matter to this election. Texas isn't a swing state. Ohio is.

This is my last post because I have to go, but I disagree with your premise that Perry is up against the same type of entrenched personalized (demonized) stereo types as Palin. Perry has only been on the national radar for a couple of months (including the pre-announcement lead up). So even if there is the sort of anti-Texan (not anti-Bush) sentiment you describe (which I really doubt, actually), it has not been something hung around Perry's neck for ten years in the nation's mind.
And I think you skipped my part about how you overcome these sorts of stereotypes. I think Palin's strategy, which is essentially a PR strategy, is not working. Perry is still governing the second largest state (and one of the world's top economies iirc) in a time of economic crisis. He will have a broader array of tools for countering negative stereotypes.
Have a good day, folks. See you later!

Tell that to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. "Kemelism" established Turkey's independence as the SECULAR, parliamentarian democratically elected Republic of Turkey.
As if Turks fighting North Koreans and the Chinese was "convenient" for Turks.
Turkey was the US ally fighting with forces in Korea, paving its way to joining NATO in 1952, providing a bulwark against Soviet expansion into the Mediterranean. A defining aspect of Turkey's foreign relations has been its ties with the United States. Based on the common threat posed by the Soviet Union, Turkey joined NATO in 1952, ensuring close bilateral relations with Washington throughout the Cold War.
Turkey hosted US Military Missiles arranged by Eisenhower, poised against the USSR during the Cold War that JFK forfeited in order to get Khrushchev to withdraw the Russian missiles from Cuba (Kennedy having blinked, losing the previous game of chicken--obviously not ciabff).
Following that shift of American ties with Turkey, compounded by the subsequent geopolitical upheaval when the USSR "fell", it was a series of changing (short sighted but convenient) AMERICAN foreign policies that aborted our own former alliance with Turkey. Of course Turkey's best interests direct Turkey's changes in policy as well given the principle of "sovereignty" and allegiance to their own populations.

Also to add to Maverick Muse, Turkey let us put nuclear missles in their country. By doing so they made themselves a target for nuclear attack from the Soviets should anything happen, and considering they bordered the Soviet Union they would have been one of the first to be hit.
They were certainly an ally to us for a very long time, but not so anymore. This new fundementalist Islamic Revival going on across the the Middle East (and all muslim nations for that matter) has pulled them away from us.

It's not even funny, cherry pi. It is kind of like a war. The way you have to watch your tongue all the time, and just listen to them rant and say nothing.
I do sympathize with that position. There's a portion of my internet life in which I am, pretty much, the only conservative. This is supposed to be a non-political forum but those who claim to be oh so tolerant act in the manner that you would expect. Every six months or so I flip out and respond with the exact same level of decency and respect that's shown to me. The last bout ended up with my losing some friends I've had for over 10 years. What I find hilarious is that when I point out that I am simply abiding by the standard of decency which is shown for my views, well, I'm lectured about being divisive and blah blah blah.
At a certain point it becomes a matter of weighing if participation is worth the stress. It's a bit easier for me because it's just fannish stuff that I don't really need a community to experience so who cares if I walk away. I have an uncle who is an Obamabot and with him I just bite my tongue. He's very ill and every day he's around is a gift so it's not worth it to fight.

Should I just rest my case now?
What you're saying is that, in return for us providing them military assets (including missiles) to protect them against USSR Aggression, they assisted us when we were defending the ROK from the NORKs.
However, it wasn't anything America did that caused the Islamist uprising in Turkey. And it wasn't anything America had done that caused Turkey to deny us use of their airspace (we weren't even asking for bases or ground-based troop movements, remember) in the run up to the invasion of Iraq.
I don't blame Turkey for being in it only for Turkey, but I do think they negotiated their relatively minor role (compared, say, to England of the '50s) into much greater concessions than they actually deserved. And now, they're threatening a literal Act of War against Israel- who are our staunchest ally, including England and Australia.

Officials from the Department of Energy have for months been sitting in on board meetings as “observers” at Solyndra, getting an up-close view as the solar energy company careened towards bankruptcy after spending more than $500 million in federal loan money.
Word of the Energy DepartmentÂ’s unusual arrangement came as federal agents on Thursday converged on the California headquarters of the failed solar company, focusing fresh attention on the first corporate beneficiary of President ObamaÂ’s stimulus program to create new clean energy jobsÂ…
“The FBI raid further underscores that Solyndra was a bad bet from the beginning and put taxpayers at unnecessary risk,” said Reps. Upton and Stearns. “President Obama’s signature green jobs program went from a darling of the administration, to bankruptcy, to now the subject of an FBI raid in a matter of days.”

467.....You really don't know anything about Palin do you? She ran as anti-establishment in her campaigns - as a Republican. She will do the same this time.
McCain didn't understand that she is a real reformer, not a talker.
The only person that can get Obama re-elected is Trump - running as a 3rd party. And his Dem operatives have already setup a 3rd party organization to do just that.

It's not me....it's the libturd NYT that is slobbering over the idea that Palin could divide the conservatives.
Maybe the way she aligned herself with "Maverick McCain" and wrote a book called "Going Rogue" has something to do with that.
And maybe the way her rabid fanistas have been trashing the other candidates as a way of clearing a path for her possible run, has something to do with that too.
I do actually know quite a bit about Sarah Palin, because I was a big fan....until I heard her call the union thugs in Wisconsin her "brothers and sisters". The bubble began to dissolve for me, and I started taking a closer look at what her *real* positions are on the issues.

I maintain a couple of real-world friendships with liberals, and what keeps us friends is that we never discuss politics or religion.
The late BFF and I were about as opposite politically as you could be. We got along because we both respected each other's positions and because there were certain matters that we agreed to never, ever, ever discuss. She also was fantastic about letting my flail at her about things and then patting me on the head.
God, I miss her like burning.

That's the thing I suspect the union types in SW Ohio donkey ranks and weak crossover back to us will hear barack still blaming Bush and roll their eyes at the UAW/GM betrayal....
I am not saying perry is superman I am not even a huge fan but I can't see where Mitt will thrill them either since socially those voters are more conservative than Mitt....
Perry will fire up socially right buckeyes, Mitt will fire up who the Cuyahoga Bluebloods?
Cuyahoga is a lost cause......
I dunno I don't have all the answers or even a bunch all I know is Ohio's anger at the GOP right now is because the Governor's austerity moves are not bearing fruit with the speed that Indiana and the rest of the rust belt's are.....
if there is tangible growth in the state that is obviously from our hands I do not think they will get fired up for Obama other than in the urban center...
Voinovich ruined Mike deWine, once upon a time i thought Mike would be a dark horse candidate....
we couldn't have elected the V man without Celeste being so corrupt and stupid....so we elected a blandly graftish RiNO who drove our industrial base to death.....
add in the farms being taxed right up to the edge of profit as a baseline and what can we do?
I'd give anything to know if SE Ohio can be fracked to production again....

Late to the thread. Going from memory from when I calculated solar, to match the energy you get from the power company, all of it, without conserving, and batteries for night time it would cost around $125k for me. Which is about the same as if I'd paid my electric bill 25 years in advance.
I think I read somewhere that the average solar panel lasts 6-10 years. Maybe it's better now? Still, doesn't seem like a good investment, and it's a total blight on the landscape. I'm sure that Barry and Michelle removed the solar panels from "The People's House" because of their lack of aesthetics. Funny that President Green Piece hasn't bothered to have new ones re-installed yet--think of the jobs that would create.

And do you think the high score was more because of good offense, or more due to lack of defense?
If you'd asked me last night, I would have said "good offense," but thinking about it more, both of those offenses (while good) were not playing stellar football (good football, yes, stellar, no). I'm going with lack of D is what allowed that game to score a combined 62 points.

Essentially, it would trap high-energy particles resulting from the fusion reaction in a collector, generating electric potential directly. Lots of detail here.

The Senate has voted to raise the debt ceiling by $500B. By some means a $500B increased is requested. Both Houses must then vote to halt the increase and Obama can veto the halt.

Your concern is touching.
Ronald Reagan was president of SAG. He also enjoyed a great deal of support from rank-and-file union members in 1980 and 1984. They were called "Reagan Democrats" at the time.
Sarah Palin strongly supported Governor Walker and the Wisconsin Legislature last April against the united labor front and the other member constituencies of the Hard Left. I didn't see Mitt facing down the clowns in Madison. Rick Perry was nowhere to be seen - he was probably too busy bitching about the Texas Legislature terminating his Gardasil and TTC projects with extreme prejudice. Huntsman? Santorum? Cain?

it all goes back to Jim Rhodes, back in his era Voinovich's Cleveland gang held JUST enough sway in the Cleveland suburbs and richer urban area to negate some of their sway...unions were still strong and so he sold out to keep the wheel in '79 to beat Celeste,,,,
he hated Celeste with a passion because back then Ohio was not a joint ticket and celeste undermined his term.
Voinovich was the only guy who could hurt Celeste up north, but the reagan democrats were offset by the diminshed power of the cleveland gang to maintain their hedge on the Urban Cleveland Donk machine as the rich moved out to their mansions on the outer loop.....
Voinovich being out of power forced him to cultivate relations with the SW GOP ....
one of Voinovich's strengths was his showing with the black communities statewide, of course the price for that was constant moderation of his fiscal policy and tolerance of expensive social programs....
even after he lost the black crossover vote he never lost the tax and spend habits he developed as Cleveland mayor.....
once he felt secure in the governorship he set out to artificially empower Taft as holder of the line on the cleveland gang far beyond his contributions to the state GOP.....
it is a sad story of 8 years of wasted potential to empower ohio to be the Aviation manufacturing and design capital of the region, and try to refire our industrial belt....
had we cut our discretionary spending to the bone and focused on targeted tax packages for Toyota and BMW we'd probably have the plants that went south.......
instead we milked the Clinton era for revenue and so increased our baseline budget that we were doomed to implode at the first hiccup in our tax base.
I miss home, I miss it even when I am there.

"A Time of Hope with Father Obalma", "A Wing and a Prayer" with Ben Bernanke, "The Hour of Faith" featuring various media figures, "Prayers and Props" with vaunted liberal communists and of course other inspirational programming (some vintage Rev. Our RINO betters deliberately pissed away their Constitutional duty and leverage, even though they were fresh from a 2010 election that indicated their base desperately wanted fiscal accountability.

When private sector unions start taking responsibility for killing jobs.....then I will have a more favorable view of them.
When private sector unions stop supporting the politicians who heap taxes and regulations on businesses to the point of putting-them-out-of-business and thereby killing more jobs.......then I will begin to have a favorable opinion of them.
Unions started out as a good thing.... I applaud them for the work they did in good working conditions, safety regulations and abolishing child labor..... But they did not disband after they accomplished their original goals. Instead, they came up with new demands.....and have morphed over time into little more than extortion clubs fostering an entitlement mentality and sheltering slacker behavior.
Collective bargaining is not a right..... If it were, then what about us poor non-union folks who have to pay higher prices for consumer goods because of the increased costs that union demands cause?
Union demands do not result in better products for consumers.....they simply add to the price of those products. This also fuels inflation across the board.

In flush times with a radical disequilibrium in the profit split there may be a moral argument to make if the business is not using the flow to recapitalize and is raking in pure profit while choking off the labor from their gain BUT even that argument is on shaky grounds merit wise as nobody holds a gun to the worker's head.

or looking at the long game and that the mess will stick to Harry and barry more than them....
we can't stop barack with the numbers being what they are just slow him down and we ARE doing that he retreated from a bad EPA decision that would have killed his numbers for good I think

587 Thanks, Sven.
And all that other stuff you said was just......hawt.
*fans self*
Some of the things you post are like conservative pron for me and make me want to roll around on the floor like Jamie Lee Curtis did in 'Fish Called Wanda' whenever she heard Russian being spoken.

589 Well you're right about that, FRONT.
I was trying to be nice and think of something positive that unions have contributed to our history....that's all I could come up with.

Hell, they didn't even want to be there, but Harry Reid made them go.
So, what, the GOP is supposed to be background for a photo op?

Yup. Today at noon ABC Radio News reports that the market is down because the Republican house won't pass Obama's jobs bill.
This is why conservative blogs are replacing talk radio. Unlike listening to Linbaugh on an ABC station, I can read AoSHQ without being interrupted every 30 minutes by a bunch of chickenshit liberal bull shit.

My sister just forwarded the recently declassified photos of NYC 9/11/01.
God Almighty, hear our prayers.

AllenG.,
JFK pulling out our treaty missiles as "America" did left Turkey's ass wide open to Khrushchev USSR aggression, after Turkey lived up to its end of the treaty bargain. Bad form on our part caused bad blood between our nations. That was enough to sour any "trust" between our nations, proving to Turkey how fickle American Policy is. (American history is rife with broken US Government treaties with peoples who are deemed inconsequential, native indigenous tribes.) Our treaty with Turkey lasted only as long as it was convenient on our part to maintain. It's the nature of our beast, peaceful turn-over of government per election cycle. But excusing our own breach of trust as if no mistrust resulted isn't going to clarify anything. Kennedy treated Turkey as poorly as Obama treated Poland.
As far as Islamist uprisings go, anywhere in the region over the years, of course they have their own agenda: authoritarian theocratic world domination. But again to pretend that the CIA is never involved in anything to do with Islamist uprisings would be as erroneous as to blame everything bad that ever happens on America.
Regarding Bush's decision to invade Iraq, Turkey had every right to remain neutral and stay clear of that war given their own information that didn't coincide with Bush's WMD propaganda which didn't pan out, anyway. As for America delivering "democracy" to Iraq, realized through linking POLITICALLY the common majority Iraqi/Iranian Muslim sect populations, again, Turkey's reasons for not supporting Bush in ousting Hussein proved more reliable than the Bush propaganda as the dust of American occupation settles. Not only are the minority Muslim sects persecuted by the corrupt government that the US installed in Iraq, but Iraq's indigenous Christians who predate all the Muslim sects have been annihilated--the same population that Hussein left alone to get along with neighbors.

Tea Party men are nasty and uneducated. They are just crude people.

Ok, I didn't say they didn't support Walker, I said that they didn't show up in Madison to support him. If Mitt and Tim did stand on the Capitol steps in support of Walker and face down the public employee union agitators, then I missed those dramatic moments and I'm sorry.
And I'll take the word of the Perryistas that Perry made some pro-Walker videos for posting on YoutTube back in February.
