I couldn't declare a 'Moratorium' on deep drilling, even if I wanted to...
Your Mother wouldn't let me.

That way, they drill less, prices at the pump go up, and we put more money into the hands of Russian autocrats, Middle-Eastern kleptokrats and South American communists. Everybody wins.

You cannot sue a Federal Worker, for doing, or not doing, their job. The Good people in charge of granting permits are just being Extra Careful.

Obama would run up a 50 billion dollar deficit running a lemonade stand. Reducing the debt is someone else's problem, not his.

My deep drilling rig was taken over, briefly, by the Sikh and employed to great success off the Carolina Coast.
Sacred Honour, Maritime and Contract Law forbid me from sharing the details.

When gas went to $2.20 a gallon back in 2004, I remember having to listen to one of the imbeciles I worked with give his dissertation of how evil Bush and the Saudis were in cahoots to drive up the price of gas in order to help the oilmen and Haliburton...
Not hearing so much complaining now... of course, I work almost entirely with Democrats: they're so demoralized now, you never hear a peep out of even the most ardent party hack.

Of all the idiotic things we have witnessed over the past two years, the drilling ban tops them all.
I'm in the camp of the GM bondholder decision. That should have sparked a lot of discord.

OK, interesting thought.
I know title 10 does not allow the Federal Government from competing with corporations.
Does it also stop State Governments from doing the same?
ie, could a State start a Corporation to mine for minerals, and drill, on State Land? and use said proceeds?

First, a reminder of what ambassadors really are; campaign contributors. As such, they often are the least knowledgeable in any given room. Second red flag, that 'revelation' has a sweaty odor of Peak Oil bunk.
Large crystallized forms of NaCl are required.

Have you lost your mind? Don't you know that I'm engaged in a life and death struggle against deflation, to stop falling prices? That is all I am concerned about. We need prices to rise. But, you want to drill for oil and increase the wealth available, which means that our current number of dollars have to be spread more thinly, leading to ... DEFLATION!! If you drill for oil, I'm going to have to print $3 trillion more dollars just to keep the price of oil stable at $120/bbl!
You are making a mockery of all my sustained efforts to slay the deflation dragon and to keep prices rising. You should be thanking me, but instead, you come up with this! I don't know why I print all this money when people are still screaming about going out and creating more wealth. Stop already!

Let the rat-faced Dems explain why we really, really need their high-speed rail but, we need to--have to!--go into debt to pay for it. And make them get out front and center and explain why we don't need more oil. Or drilling. Or royalty revenue. Or jobs. But we need a high-speed rail.
Oh, wait. Stupid party only does stupid. What was I thinking?

Dept of interior just announced they are going to use areas blocked off for oil drilling to develop wind farms. Just fuggin' great.
Even the NYT sees the stupidity of this which means there must be somehwere near plant-life IQ levels involved.
Weasel Zippers has the map and the pull quote - "The areas, off the coast of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia, are marked off in “leasing blocks” that were originally drawn up for oil drilling. The Department of Interior published a map of the four locales."
