— Ace Via Hot Air, some of that there crony capitalism that I've been talkin' about.
PerryÂ’s gubernatorial campaign, for example, received nearly $30,000 from the drugmaker since 2000, most of it prior to his decision in 2007 to order young girls to obtain MerckÂ’s vaccine against the human papillomavirus, or HPV.
Actually, it was $28,500 I've read elsewhere, the "bulk" of which came before the 2007 decision, but no one defines what "the bulk" is. Why don't they include the actual figure, since they have all the numbers in hand?
Why, it's almost as if they're being intentionally vague and rounding up wherever possible. Note that happens again, here:
Merck has also given more than $355,000 in donations to the Republican Governors Association since 2006, which was the year that Perry began to play a prominent role in the Washington-based group, according to data from the Center for Responsive Politics.
Ah-he-hem, and that figure is "since 2006," that is, until the present day, and Perry's EO was retracted long, long ago (it never went into effect), so why does Merck continue donating? And, further, why does the media not give us the actual figures again, but instead resort to this helpfully-vague dating terminology ("since 2006")?
The RGA, by the way, supports all Republican gubernatorial candidates, so Rick Perry's "piece" of that sweet sweet Crony Capitalism pie is about, what, one 25th of that figure?
If you think Perry was bought that's fine, but I seem to remember a lot of allegations that Dick Cheney started the War in Iraq "to increase his Halliburton stock value," and to "help his friends at Halliburton," and I remember these allegations being dismissed with a laugh, as there was no actual evidence of any improper influence or compromised decision-making.
But since the Divine Miss S began repeating these allegations (from that darned lamestream media), I see a lot of us have collectively dropped that attitude of "Prove it" and now take any government action made in the vicinity of a donation to be more or less proof positive of corruption.
That's fine, but... Okay, bear in mind Sarah Palin will live by that same standard, too.
Since we're flingin' all sorts of personal-benefit allegations around with no evidence, I'll note it occurs to me that Sarah Palin's monetary stream dries up if there's a conservative president.
On the other hand, if Obama stays in office, she continues to be a sought-after voice of the opposition.
And if a non-conservative (or presumed non-conservative) like Romney defeats Obama, then Palin still has her niche.
But with a conservative titular head of the party? Not as much money.
Since we're casting these sort of evidence-free allegations about, you understand.
And speaking of pickin' winners and losers like Mr. Obama over there and the crony capitalism like I've been talkin' about, a small government conservatism that certainly doesn't subsidize politically-popular failed businesses, that's what I've been talkin' about as an illustration of this crony capitalism.
CNN's Fact Check: Untrue In Parts, Misleading In Others. Crony capitalism.
Update: Merck donated $5000 to Perry for his 2010 election, long after he'd dropped the "mandate." So the amount donated prior to this was $23,500.
It is not clear why they continued making their Crony Capitalism payments to him after he dropped support of Gardasil like a hot potato.

SP has her own standard. Like Jon Stewart said, people should take her seriously.
She fininshed a four-year governor term in only two and a half years.
When she debuted her comedy act, she debuted on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
This lady sets her standards.
Oh.... and others sometimes judge her differently too so the standard assigned her is different.
Posted by: twoslaps at September 13, 2011 01:15 PM (Bo7bD)
Let's do some math, here. Let's say 2/3 is the "most" they're talking about between 2000 & 2007.
That's $20,000 over 7 years (we'll call it 6, though, just to make it look as bad as possible). So 20000/6 is... what? 3,334/yr? And they're funneling that to him in the hopes that the next year he'll mandate the use of their vaccine? Which he then does mandate but leaves in an "opt-out" provision so that they're not actually guaranteed to get all that sweet, sweet cash? Oh, and then he reverses himself anyway, and they STILL give him another 10,000 over the next 4 - 5 years.
How does this make sense to anyone?

Yes, and the election of George W. Bush took all the wind out of Rush Limbaugh's sails because he didn't have Bill Clinton to criticize anymore.
If you want to make a straw man argument to illustrate how petty the charges against Perry are, at least make one that has some internal consistency.

Sure, if you consider an epidemic of late onset retardation and crying mothers a great scientific advance.

I don't like Sarah Palin, and I thought Perry was bought back in 2007.
Look, the vaccine was never tested on pre-pubescent girls, yet Perry mandated that it be given to 12 year-olds or younger. And only girls, not boys, even though boys are carriers. And the thing it's vaccinating against is behavioral, not environmental, so there is no earthly (or governmentally sound) reason to force people to vaccinate against it in order to attend government-mandated schools.
My problem with that is that his knee-jerk is to do whatever the hell he feels like regardless of the rights of the people or even their opinions. It was wildly unpopular when he did it, but he assumed if he forced it down people's throats, they'd get over it. He repealed it only when it was causing a problem long enough to risk his re-election. Truly, a man in touch with his consituency.
And has anyone mentioned that Perry actively worked with his lieutenant governor, the Rep speaker of the house, and the Rep senate leader to scuttle the anti-TSA bill here in Texas? Because he loves freedom.

Perhaps Palin should temper her statements about Perry's FORMER aide going to work for a lobbying firm that had Merck as a client. Maybe someone just might start asking her questions about Sean Parnell. Parnell? You say?
Yeah, Parnell was Palin's hand picked running mate when she ran for Governor of Alaska. At the time, Parnell was working for one of the largest lobbying firms in the U.S. who represented the oil companies in Alaska. Parnell maintained his job as a lobbyist the entire time he ran for Lt. Governor, and only resigned the day before he was sworn in as Lt. Governor of Alaska. So it could be said, legitimately, that when Palin resigned as governor, she turned that office over to a lobbyist. Parnell, as a lobbyist, also contributed to Palin's campaign coffers.
But it gets worse; Parnell was also part of the legal team that defended Exxon in the Exxon-Valdez oil spill case.
But the Palinistas will never admit that their chosen one has warts of her own.

The CDC and the (admittedly new) President of the MD Anderson Cancer Center disagree with you.
And only girls, not boys, even though boys are carriers.
Carriers, by definition, don't get the disease. More importantly, I've never seen a dude with a cervix or uterus. It would be kind of hard for a boy to get cervical or uterine cancer, now wouldn't it?
And the thing it's vaccinating against is behavioral, not environmental, so there is no earthly (or governmentally sound) reason to force people to vaccinate against it in order to attend government-mandated schools.
Tetanus. Meningitis. Hepatitis B. These are also not easily communicable diseases. Heck, Meningitis and Hep B require bodily fluid exchange. We still require vaccinations for these in order to attend government mandated schools. Also- have you heard of an "opt out" clause?
He repealed it only when it was causing a problem long enough to risk his re-election. Truly, a man in touch with his consituency.
Well, given that he did reverse himself... yeah, I'd say he's way better than Mitt "I'll double down on MassCare" Romney, and worlds better than Barack Obama, who is a stuttering clusterf*ck of a miserable failure.
And has anyone mentioned that Perry actively worked with his lieutenant governor, the Rep speaker of the house, and the Rep senate leader to scuttle the anti-TSA bill here in Texas? Because he loves freedom.

Maybe it is time for Bachmann to answer why her own state introduced legislation to mandate Gardasil for girls in the same age group? Did she do anything to stop that?
The lobbyist Bachmann talked about was a FORMER aide to Perry. I wonder, does Bachmann think that if you work for a governor and leave that position, the governor has the right to tell you where to go to work?
Here's the deal; Perry was initially portrayed as being too "conservative" to run for POTUS. He got in, and immediately, the left started pounding on him, along with the Karl Rove neo-cons, and so the establishment Republicans started pounding on him. Basically, they want Romney, who is more like G.W. Bush, and less like Reagan. The goal is to pound Perry until he is unelectable, and wind up with Romney, who will win, and the day he assumes office will revert back to the left leaner he is with an R behind his name.
No one now talks about Romneycare, which is a massive failure and the only reason it still exists is because Obama's Stimulus Bill infused $764 million into it in 2009. In spite of taxpayers all across the nation picking up the tab for Romneycare, Massachussetts has a debt to GDP ratio of over 25%, while Texas has an 18% ratio. Debt per citizen in Massachussetts is over $14,000 while in Texas it is around $8,000. But Romney is the GOP establishment choice, and they will do anything they can, including destroying Rick Perry, to get him elected.
So be prepared for 8 more years of "compassionate conservativism", i.e. more spending and less frugality.

This happened on HotAir too a few weeks back when a story about how certain unnamed campaigns (presumably Romney and Bachmann) were spreading negative rumors and stories about Perry. The immediate response was to blame Palin supporters.

So, one daughter out of three who had the vaccine has had multiple strokes and lost 90% of her vision. But, you don't know one way or the other (because "Baylor can't say (or won't say)" what caused them) that Gardisil was involved in anyway.
What about all those other people- many of them men in their 30's- who have had multiple strokes? Did they all have the HPV vaccine, too? If this were something you (or your daughter) felt strongly enough about to be blaming Merck, why haven't you sued them? It's too late to do it in Texas (because we have loser pays, now, so Merck would probably actually fight you- and win- instead of just paying you to go away), but if you're in almost any other state, you should be fine to sue- I'm sure some lawyer would love to take the case on contingency. They'd stand to make a tidy sum.
I hate to point out the obvious, but the plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data.' If there were any evidence that Gardisil was causing strokes any more than about 1% of the time (okay, maybe as high as 3%), you can bet the FDA would withdraw its approval faster than you can say "NSAID."

Update: Merck donated $5000 to Perry for his 2010 election, long after he'd dropped the "mandate." So the amount donated prior to this was $23,500.
It is not clear why they continued making their Crony Capitalism payments to him after he dropped support of Gardasil like a hot potato.
For the same reason they donated every other penny, of course - because Texas under Perry has been a hotbed of success and development for all aspects of the health care industry.

If you are taking campaign funds from companies you are giving public money to you are corrupt as far as I'm concerned. Is it possible the two are unrelated? Yes. Is it reasonable to assume they are by default? No. Most people are scum. Even the most virtuous must work hard to keep the evil inherent in all men at bay. This goes quadruple for politicians who face considerably more temptation than the average douchebag. So why the fuck should I trust someone by default, and especially trust a politician?
Fuck Perry (in ace's case, literally), fuck Palin and fuck anyone else who does this shit. Is it a complete dealbreaker? No. This shit is run of the mill politics. I hope it will become unacceptable one day though I'm not holding my breath.
But if your defense of "X took money from someone they are giving a government contract to" is "non-candidate Palin did it too", you are entering Obama cultist territory.

Shouting "DAMN YOU PALIN!" over Perry's debate performance and negative MSM articles is equivalent to blaming Rick Santorum or Ron Paul. Does. Not. Compute. The ones driving the criticism of Rick Perry are the actual existing campaigns and the Democrats, not someone who isn't even running and who is largely ignored outside conservative circles.

Is it worth the hysterics when a few Palinista's warble about her that you not only take to twit(ter), you bog your site down with the same drivel?
Take a poll. Who thinks Palin is all that and a bag of chips, who thinks Perry is on the take, and who wants to talk about something other than what gives the left ammo to keep us under Commander Clusterfuc*'s thumb for another 8 years.

Most likely, her fans would still motivate speaking engagements as well.
The excitement over Sarah Palin is derived purely from the hope of her supporters that she will run for president. If she does not run in 2012, she is going to very quickly disappear from the national stage as someone of consequence - the cast of firebreathing conservative pundits (Rush, Steyn, Savage, Malkin, etc) is too large for her to keep her current "space." In 2016-2020 we will - or should - have people like Allen West, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, Chris Christie, potentially Scott Walker, and others to run for president. This is a very strong lineup, and she will have no chance to compete again if she doesn't run now.
That's why I think it's foolish and shortsighted of her not to run in 2012.

When they leave office, they become a partner in a DC law firm and rake in the bucks that way.
That's more cricket, old bean.
That being said...I didn't like it when Rove attacked O'Donnell after the primary and I feel the same way about Palin now.

Bachmann- as nutty as she is- can be understood; she's doing it as a direct competitor to Perry. It's expected- and accepted- that candidates sling a little mud, so long as it's not blatantly dishonest or batshit crazy (hence Bachmann's problem).
What is Palin? Just a commentator? Fine, drop the drama queen tease act about running and be an overpaid, platitude spewing Fox News commentator. A prospective candidate who has made repeated trips to early states like Iowa and NH, coincidentally when the declared candidates are in town? Fine- declare, join the debates and say it to their faces.

A friend points out that Perry supporters sabotage their own defense of Perry. If Perry was simply “erring on the side of life” and would simply have pursued the policy of increasing access to Gardasil in a different way, then he most certainly would have no objection to what happened in Alaska — e.g., making the vaccine available to people who wanted it without mandating it by accepting existing federal dollars.

I'm getting sick and tired of hearing about what a fighter she is. She quit, and all of her supporters claim "No fair, she's just a commentator" when you attempt to hit her back after she draws first blood.
This is some "fighter." Apparently eggshell-weak.
How does this have anything to do with what I said?
The blame for the Gardasil flap should be laid at the feet of people actually attacking Rick Perry. I'm not saying "Palin shouldn't be criticized." There are plenty of things she ought to be criticized about, like not clarifying whether or not she will run. I'm saying I can't even figure out why the blogosphere is imploding over one comment on a talk show when these attacks are largely originating from Bachmann/Romney/Democrats.
I'm assuming you're pretty supportive of Perry, right? Why are you wasting ammo on Palin - who is not running - and not the people of consequence who are actually attacking Perry, like Bachmann/Romney/Democrats? Don't you think it would be more helpful to go after these guys then wasting ammo on Palin supporters, who barely even come here anymore?

I'm not so sure. She is a king-maker and has been instrumental in getting a whole bunch of conservatives elected to state offices in '010. We won, in case anyone's forgotten. More states are red now than in a long, long time, and she helped.
Y'all know I love her like a sister, and me being from Alabama, that really means something. But even I realize she's not electable and can be more effective as a conservative gadfly, stinging the left at every opportunity, which is what we all should be doing IMHO. Ace is just doing his version of fine-tuning the attack.
Aren't we all on the same team? The SCOAMF-in-Chief, his administration and everything he's inflicted upon the country has to be tossed out ASAP. It will take a Republican president and Senate, in addition to additions in the House to save the nation.

The MFM drops the hammer on Rush every chance it gets. They're all thought to be "big boys" and it's just laughed off. Horseshit.... please show some evidence that Perry went out and SOLICITED that money?
I don't think you understand how this works. You don't go out and solicit that money. That would be illegal. You look at your donations list and pick who you give money or other goodies too. The companies know this, which is why you see a lot of shifts in donations when a new party takes over. I don't need to provide evidence for anything. It should be assumed by default unless proven otherwise. I don't see a lot of conservatives providing evidence the unions and democrats in general have a contract to rip off the public, it's assumed, and for good reason. Strangely though, when Godking Perry does the exact same fucking thing I'm suddenly supposed to have a video of shady interactions between them.
I think his debate response was good... 'if you think he could be bought for $5000... that IS an insult...' and this is just a few years of those smaller checks, added together, to make it look bad.

A quick question for everyone defending Palin over her comment. What if the roles were reversed? What if it were Perry on some show, not as a candidate but as a 'maybe I'll run maybe I won't' commentator? What if Palin was a candidate and at the debate. And afterwards, as a commentator who may or may not be a candidate, Perry had crticized her and defended another candidate? Would everyone be okay with that? Just wondering...

Gardisil: Really? Who cares?
TTC: He said he was sorry. Also: you can disagree with the policy, you can disagree that an expanded corridor from South Texas through North Texas is needed. You cannot claim that building a system of roads and freight-rail tracks is a misuse of Imminent Domain.
Texas Tech Fund: How many jobs did Texas create again? You don't think a fund to help encourage some of those companies to undertake the expense of relocating their corporate headquarters had anything to do with that?
DREAM Act: I... really wish I had a good answer for that. If it helps, he has done more to secure the boarder (within his power) than GW ever did, and is infinitely better than any Democrat would be.
General Corruption: He's been in elected office for something like 20 years. If there were any substantive proof that he was actually corrupt, this would not be the case. Most recently, his opponents (KBH and Bill White) were supported and bank-rolled by Karl Rove and the Clintons, respectively.
Oh. And Barack Obama is a stuttering clusterf*ck of a miserable failure.

They're all thought to be "big boys" and it's just laughed off. Palin, however (really, more her supporters, but we blame Obama for what his supporters do, so fair is fair),
Right and wrong. Many (not all) of Palin's supporters have made her some sort of infallible goddess, but I have not seen but perhaps once, maybe twice where she herself has told her detractors that they're being too mean. Even Rush has made comments along these lines (especially when someone accuses him of racism). I don't think we have any idea what it's like to be publically disparaged as much as outspoken conservatives have been publically disparaged in the media.
As far as Obama is concerned, why do you think SCOAMF has caught on as the AoSHQ password?

You all keep telling us she's irrelevant, a loser, a quitter, down in the polls, a golddigger and on and on.

Yet you seem to think the only way this evil person could possibly redeem her worthless self is to endorse your guy.

At issue isn't whether Merck contributed to his campaign- we already know they did. Whether he solicited contributions from Merck isn't really an issue either. The only real question is whether Perry issued the executive order in exchange for contributions rather than doing what he thought was in the best interests of his state.
And yes, I'm aware that Perry made money on some land deals that at the very least give the appearance of impropriety. There isn't a perfect candidate in the race; never has been, never will be.

Palin cannot even win the primary, and she would get shredded in the general.
But conservatives are largely very polite people, and have refrained from voicing their concerns about Palin. They would have likely remained silent, had Palin been content to blast Obama like she did last year.
But no. She has chosen to insert herself into the primary as a self-appointed judge of what a 'true conservative is' in order to cash in on the process. If she had not been playing this little teasing game, how much would she have gotten in donations this year? Not as much.
Mrs. Palin's own behavior has awakened this ire that is directed at her. There are a lot of us who think that 'enough is enough'.

The difference, for those too obtuse to understand, is that Bachman and Romney are actually running. They, too, may be engaging in dirty politics- but at least they're also out there where they can be hit back. What makes it beyond the pale for Palin to do so is the constant claim that "she's not running" followed up by a coy little "yet."
Well, running or not, if you're going to throw a punch, expect to get hit back.

Up until now, I've only lurked; I love the humor and, believe it or not, I do try to read Ace's posts. I like this site for the most part, which is why I feel the need to comment now.
I think Ace and some of the others are starting to lose it with Perry. I've kept up with the posts today, and the only sense I can make of the tone in some of them (and in the comments) is that people are angry over Perry taking some hits, and feel the need to take it out on Palin and Bachmann.
To be clear, I think the Gardasil thing is a non-issue, I do not agree with Bachmann's remarks after the debate, and I think Perry is probably the best candidate we have right now. And I am not a Palinista (though I'm sure I'll be called one anyway); I like her, but I mostly agree with Ace that she's unelectable.
But it's one thing to say that Bachmann's remarks were, shall we say, extremely misinformed and ill-advised, and it's another to call her an "ambitious and egotistical woman," who thinks she can run for President just because she's served a couple of terms in Congress. I haven't heard anyone say that about Cain, for instance.
I don't wish to be nasty; I merely wish to say that if even a sympathetic lurker like myself finds it hard to avoid thinking that this blog is starting to turn into a shill for Perry, that can't be good for its reputation across the Internet. No one has to stop supporting him if they like him, but please be more willing to admit that the man has its flaws, just like all the other candidates.

Maybe people here have refrained from voicing their concerns about SP (kidding), but she's been through the grinder on a regular basis at the other site for well over two years. That's a stupid question. Possibly two. Try these two instead:
#1) "How'd he come up with this shit?"
The idea of forcing every insurance company in the state to give Merck a giant pile of money (or be destroyed) has a provenance. And it's not mysterious, is it? Is it?
#2) "Would he do it for you?"
Would he force every company doing you-related business in the state to give you a giant pile of money (or be destroyed)? Could you, random bastard, deliver him a best-interest-of-the-state pitch that would make him consider it? Could you get in and pitch him anything? No.
So, if you wanted to get in—say you had the killer product and the undeniable pitch ready—how would you get in? What would you do?
What Merck did.
Which was...

She made an accusation without evidence (straight out of the "lamestream media," as she moronically insists on saying) in order to kneecap a competitor.
If this Drama-Queen Diva can drop evidence-free accusations against a rival, surely I can do so against her.

You did. It's all your fault.
No seriously, WTF? If you weren't paying attention last week, then read back and see for yourself. I was replying to a question about "What about the 11th Ammendment?".
These outbursts of pushback are usually triggered by something that Palin herself has said or her followers have done, to trigger them.
"Don't want nuthin? Don't start nuthin"....are words to live by.

Well said.
I remember upon hearing that John McCain had selected Palin as his running mate, my reaction was "Who?" "What?".
Then I heard the basics. She was 44 and relatively inexperienced. My stomach began to churn. The night she gave her speech at the convention I was elated. She was superb. I felt tremendous relief and excitement.
Then the media character assassination squad was dispatched. She gave troubling answers to some of the questions, but any urge I had to be critical of her performance was restrained by a disgust for a bunch of Obama sycophants posing as objective journalists. Indeed she was treated unfairly during that campaign. I'll maintain that to this day. I suspect most conservative critics of hers now would as well.
But the fact that the press, vulgar late night comedians, elitists, and liberals in general, have at times been vile toward here, she should not be immune from legitimate criticism for what she alone has been responsible for.
The reasons given for her 1/2 term departure as Gov. don't wash. Sure she was subjected to frivolous lawsuits. Yes her legal defense fund was declared unlawful. But the reason being was because of the word "official" in it's name. After she returned the money to donors she could have simply renamed and reestablished it. The worst possible thing to do is communicate the message that a duly elected official can be driven from office by frivolous lawsuits.
But let's say we grant that leaving office was the proper thing to do. Then what? Well for starters, spend the next couple of years boning up on domestic and foreign policy. STAY OUT of the media limelight. Come back in 2010 and reintroduce yourself to America on the talk show circuit. Give substanative detailed answers to questions. Americans love a comeback story. Many people would have seriously reconsidered her. She very well have become a serious contender for President.
What we got instead were two book tours and a reality show. Everything was designed to appeal to a core base of supporters that she already had. Facebook and twitter responses to just about every crass comment made toward her by media/entertainment bozos.
And now we come to the endless strip tease. The "will I or won't I" run game. Whether it is a fair assessment or not, it has all the marking of an endless diva performance, that is enabled by a core group of followers who often go berserk at the slightest substanative criticism of her as a personal attack from establishment bluebloods.
Michelle Bachmann has made some pretty bad gaffes during her campaign, but I'll give her this, she made her intentions known early and participated in the debates. She didn't deserve the distraction of an undeclared candidate who we are led to believe is beyond reproach. Mitt Romney didn't deserve to have his announcement speech overshadowed by Sarah's magical bus tour in New Hampshire. Rick Perry did not deserve to be subjected to allusions of crony capitalism by someone he couldn't respond to....because after all...she isn't even a candidate, is she?

That's a stupid question. Possibly two. Try these two instead:
#1) "How'd he come up with this shit?"
How'd he come up with the idea of a vaccine requirement (with an opt-out clause) as a condition for attending public schools? Similar to what states have been doing for decades already? Gee, I don't know where he possibly could've come up with the idea.
#2) "Would he do it for you?"
You mean if I developed a vaccine that, if administered early enough, would prevent a communicable disease responsible for thousands of deaths and tens of thousands of cancer cases a year? I'd hope so.Posted by: Hollowpoint at September 13, 2011 03:11 PM (SY2Kh)
Corporations have an interest in staying in business just like an individual on welfare has an interest in keeping their check coming every month.
Politicians make decisions that make it easier or harder for a business to survive.
Corporations have the right to send money to help get politicians elected that will be business friendly.
Individuals on welfare have the right to send money to Democrats in the hope of getting their welfare increased.
Same thing.
Nobody bitches about all the money welfare recipients send to Democrats in exchange for more free cheese.
But people shit a brick when Merck backs Republuicans who make it possible for a business to succeed.
Let's investigate how much money went to Obama and his cronies directly out of welfare payments.

Let's vet all of our candidates. Vet them like Jodie Foster on a pinball machine!
Let's vet them until nobody wants to be seen with them or trusts them or gives a shit whether they get elected.
Because it doesn't matter if any of our candidates will repeal Obamacare. It matters if they ever did anything that can fuel another 48 hours of soap opera.
Meanwhile Obama the SCOAMF and his merry Moscow freak show of an administration laugh their way into four more years.

Perry is over-hyped and under-prepared. Some of us tried to tell you fellas those basic facts about ole Ricky. Now that we are all seeing it play out in living color on the big TV screen, Perry fanboys get their panties in a wad about reality taking a shit on their little masturbatory fantasies.
Here's some more basic facts for you:
Sarah Palin doesn't have to do shit for Rick Perry or his acolytes. So long as her commentary draws eyeballs to Fox News or any other media outlet, she will get airtime to say whatever the hell she wants.
It is Rick Perry's job to provide reasons for people to vote for him, not Sarah Palin's. If she wants to use her current platform in the media to take a daily double-flush crap on his head, she can do that unless and until the ratings drop and Ricky can't do shit about it.
Get used to it. This is just the beginning of a long, long campaign.

Anyone who is sick of Grizzlycuda's shit is a Perry fanboy? You're an idiot - very few people here care who the nominee ends up being. Beating Obama is Job One.
Except for Hockeycudagrizzlymom. And you pointed it out nicely -
"So long as her commentary draws eyeballs to Fox News or any other media outlet, she will get airtime to say whatever the hell she wants. "
It's the Sarah Palin show. That's all that matters. And what draws attention for the attention whore? Attacking Obama? Nah, already done that, plus everyone else is doing it too.
Attack the Republican frontrunner - that's what will give us our best shot at beating Obama me the attention and money I crave like a crack whore craves that rock.

Understand this, chief:
I've put up with being told to suck it up for the benefit of the good old boys network in Republican party politics for thirty years. Rick Perry and Mitt Romney are two sides of the same fucking insider-network cluster-fuck in the GOP that gave us Bob Dole and John McCain nationally and Bob Taft in Ohio. It is why I have Jean Schmidt for a congressman in OH2 instead of a sentient human being with a brain.
Fuck that noise. You keep believing that Rick Perry is just like Marco Rubio and not like Charlie Crist. There is a nice bridge for sale over the East River you might be interested in.
Here's a news flash: Perry and Romney and all the rest of those old school jack-offs are interested in reforming and shrinking government about as much as Satan is interested in converting to Catholicism and joining a convent.

If the Republican candidate loses to Obama it will because s/he deserves to. I'd rather go into the general election with someone who takes this shit seriously enough to do his fucking homework and have intelligent and compelling answers to perfectly predictable issue attacks.
That's what primaries are for. To sort out lazy ass fuckers from actual winners.
So far, Perry looks a lot more like the former than the latter. If he gets his shit together and overcomes the vetting of the process, awesome. If he doesn't, so fucking what?

You win!
Its not the leaving, its the lying. Sarah lied to no one and resigned the governorship for reasons known by all.
Agree with it or dont, that's up to you.
But Rick's double back, I expect, lined him up in Sarah's mind as another greasy pol akin to those who sickened her in AK and made him the same kind of fair game. No I'm not Sarah's brain, just my educated deduction.
Maybe this will help you feel better: Noted Palin operative Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC just did a feature PRAISING ol' Rick for being PRO-AMNESTY and a DREAM-acter.

Perry all but admitted he can be bought if the price is high enough.
Instead of getting mad at those asking questions... why not vet the guy properly?
One answer about Perry I'd like answered:
What did Rove promise Perry that got him to switch parties so fast after his hero Gore lost in 88?
Next in line for Texas Gov.? That must be Perry's price to switch parties. Must be the going rate.
Over night he ditched all his liberal views and became a conservative Republican. If you believer he cares one wit for conservative principles we are in big trouble.
Perry is a conservative, because that is how you get power in Texas. After he gets power in DC he will be for sale to the highest bidder.
Perry is so obviously corrupt it is only a matter of time, keep digging, we will find out just how corrupt someday. It is better we find out before he becomes the nominee, than after.
Keep looking please.

Luntz results demonstrate Ace's opinions are worth an Ace opinion. Reflecting the desires of the rank and file voter, not so much.
Perry and Romney are self serving liars. Ambition combined with a giant ego doesn't serve anyone. These two frauds say one thing and then act like Czars. They are the same as Obama, destroying individual liberties when they think it is in the public good. For their supporters serve as an example why our liberties are vanishing.
Both of them misrepresented and lied about their illegal immigration positions. Romney demonstrated he thinks Social Security is a viable option which should immediately disqualify him in the eyes of any sane individual. But those that question the trampling of individual rights are characterized by some here as on the crazy train.
Those who support the abridgement of our rights, who advocate for candidates who initiate such policies are the character members of the crazy train and merit the respect they deserve.
Which candidates respect you and your rights? Which candidates see you as serfs to be dictated to? If you vote for a candidate who has demonstrated his contempt for individual rights you cannot support the Constitution. You cannot complain about the infringement of your rights. So choose wisely.
