— Open Blogger A few days ago, it was Richard Cohen. Now it's his fellow Washington Post columnist, Eugene Robinson:
Is it just me? Am I the only one who's utterly confused about the rationale, goals, tactics and strategy of the U.S.-led military intervention in Libya?Thought not.
I call it a U.S.-led operation because, people, let's be real. Without U.S. diplomatic leadership, there would have been no U.N. Security Council resolution. Without U.S. military leadership, there would have been no coordinated shock-and-awe attack to put dictator Moammar Gaddafi's rampaging forces back on their heels. On Thursday, after days of bickering, we heard a grand announcement that NATO will take command of the operation. Don't believe it. The United States will be functionally in charge, and thus on the hook, until this ends.
So what the hell are we doing? I realize that President Obama and his advisers have answered this question many times, but I feel it's necessary to keep asking until the answers begin to make sense.
Yeah, pretty much sums up my own feelings. And Robinson, unlike Cohen, feels no need to throw in some cheap shots at Bush, probably because right now Bush is looking pretty good in how he handled Afghanistan and Iraq. In fact, I think that Obama has done and is doing more to rehabilitate Bush's reputation and popularity than anything the Right could have done. But he has done so at a terrible cost to us, to our children, and to our country.

Do the prius' parked on college campuses now have "Attack Libya NO!" stickers on them yet?
Actually... no. We're still loving Obama at my college campus. Although the incidence of actual Obama bumper stickers is at about 45%, down from a high of about 70% in 2008.

So, Obama voters: You voted for Obama and you got:
A worse recession,
Higher gas prices,
Inflation,
Higher unemployment,
Increased influence from corporations and lobbyists,
A ruined health care system,
Gitmo still open,
Reduced respect from Europe,
Disdain from the Muslim world,
and now, after all that, he engages in a war with no goal, no strategy and no endgame that he is taking far less seriously than Bush took anything regarding the military.
So what the hell did you guys vote for anyway?

Wayne LaPierre of the NRA is was on Beck right now claiming that the Obama administration has set up a de facto illegal gun-smuggling ring with Mexico in order to funnel assault weapons into Mexico, hoping that some of those guns will be used against Americans north of the border, in order to push through stronger gun laws.

Don't despair. On numerous occasions, President Billy Jeff and his co-president wife answered the same question many times as well. Sometimes the answer was given under oath, even. Like Nixon, the current statement is operative until the next clarification makes previous statements inoperative.

Bush had 18 UN resolutions, over 30 countries in his coalition and he had not only a vote in his Congress, he also had the backing of the previous administration/congress with the passage of the 1998 Iraq Liberation Act. Not quite the 'rush to kinetic millitary activity' that the MFM/Dems repeated every day.

I saw Robinson's piece in our local rag a few days ago, where he has a regular column. He is a doctrinaire liberal, by the book; and he has, thus far, found a way to twist any Obama development with a liberal's spin - until now.
This surprised me, but in rethinking it, he seems to be what you might call a "serious" liberal. That is, he is 100% tried and true left wing in pretty much all aspects, because that is what he sincerely believes. He's pretty much anti-war, no matter who the President is. He's not driven by wanting to be cool, or hip, or hating Bush and Republicans because that's what they do in Hollywood.
Interesting, and I like to see it, but in 2012 he'll vote Obama, albeit with a few reservations, because that is what serious liberals do. You'll never see them pull a Mike Smerconish, a 'moderate' talk show host from Philly who had always voted R and was a Bush supporter once, but who got fed up with the war and voted for Obama in 2010. They will NEVER be part of a "reverse 52%".

Saw that last night but really if you try to think like them it makes sense to people like Stephen King and Michael Moore and Joe Biden who don't think they pay enough in taxes or that paying taxes is patriotic. I laughed when they announced we will be handing off control to NATO. So, some U.S. general assigned to the Pentagon will hand over control to some U.S. general assigned to NATO sitting in Belgium or somewhere.... Big fucking deal.

OT, but I'm listening to Rush right now and he's talking about how the Muslim Brotherhood is taking the lead in Egypt. I share his reaction: WELL DUH. How is that news? We all knew this was going to happen back when the "revolution" was going on.
I hate the frigging media, I really do.
Oh, and speaking of Egypt... Bunch of sicko pervs.

Sen Fossil Lautenberg
Did you hear what this shitbag said about us?
He said we don't "deserve" the freedoms granted by the Constitution...but "we give it to them, anyway."

"132
2) Why aren't the Republicans blasting back at this muthafucka?"
Simple. If the Pubbies attack then MFM goes into reaction mode. Better to lay low, with an occassional observation of failure than to rile up the Media Party. Sparky is their boy and they know it. Every Mother thinks her child is cute - even the ones with big ears that look like a monkey. At some point Mothers do have a revelation that their child is homely and a little stupid. The media party is still trying to find something about their tard baby to talk about. You have to let the Mommies discover their babies defects slowly.

Chip back into the bunker - I need to work on my domestic agenda
Chip into the rough - Another bevy of tomahawks
Chip onto the fringe - Bomb some ground vehicles
Chip into the water trap - Institute a blockade
Chip onto the green - Booyah! I am cool and awesome.

It reminds me of when libs mock "politicians" for going gung ho on the death penalty before re-election.
Republicans don't do this. It's Democrats. They're the ones who need to show they're tough on crime.
Similarly, they'll try to make Obama's indecision into a general indictment of presidents, but it's Democrats who act with this sort of indecision.

Obama has no respect or consideration for the American people.
We are a burden upon his aspirations and as he has stated before he wishes he were the leader of China because then he could do as he wants with no one to say anything or off with our heads!
I cannot imagine what my fellow Americans were thinking when they voted this this loser into the Presidency.
I for one am glad our founding fathers are not here to see how we have asquandered not only their blood and treasure but ours to for far into the future.
We deserve Obama because we either forgot or were intimidated by those who hate what America stands for and did not heed history or All Of OUR Founding Fathers words for the future to keep our Gift which is our Republic and Constitution.

Obama and Libya: The professorÂ’s war
Posted by: Kratos (Ghost of Sparta) at March 25, 2011 11:19 AM (9hSKh)
He's not a professor, goddamnit! He gave a few lectures. That's it. That does not make him a professor. He was never hired for a faculty position, he never published jack shit, he never got tenure.
He's no more a professor for giving a few lectures than he is an MLB pitcher because he threw out the first pitch at the All-Star game!

"Clearly, it seems to me, there will be occasions when humanitarian military intervention is our duty. This may be one of them. But the goal must be to prevent the bloodbath, not just reschedule it."
Amen.
