What We Know Now Puts Some Old Events In A Different Context
— Ace

Remember the CIA Contractor who was arrested by Pakistan police for the crime of defending himself against two thugs who either tried to rob him or were in fact Al Qaeda?

Well, Lahore is about four and a half hours away from Abbottabad. That's not close. However, this CIA unit was almost certainly deployed as part of the operation to find bin Ladin, and who knows, may have been tracking the couriers. Perhaps the couriers were found in Lahore, delivering messages to Al Qaeda in Lahore, then later followed back to Osama's Al Qaeda Headquarters.

Maybe?

Another thing that looks different in context is Obama's roast-speech at the Correspondent's dinner. He already had given the order to get bin Ladin. I don't know if he knew for a fact bin Ladin was there, but he knew there was a good chance.

It tends to explain a little of his cockiness. Also, a joke that is particularly pointed is at about 10:30 -- he's goofing on Trump for making a trivial decision about who to fire after a steak-oriented contest on The Apprentice. He snarks about the decision to fire "Little John, Meat Loaf, or Gary Busey," "These are the sorts of decisions that would keep me up at night." And then tosses in "Well-handled, Sir, well-handled."

The joke was funny then, but it's even more pointed now.

Oh, and of course-- pre-empting the Apprentice. I don't know about that one, if he timed the announcement to coincide with that show. If they had a confirmation, it's likely they would be announcing it shortly thereafter.

I'm guessing that compare-and-contrast was more of a bonus.

We should constantly remind our friends and family when they start to praise Obama about getting Osama that he was just doing his job as President. Then we need to make sure that we then follow up with comments on the high gas prices and high cost of everything in general.

If we don't start deflating this bubble now we might be looking at four more years of this scumbag.

33 Frankly, I don't blame Obama for taking a shot at Trump.  Trump has been claiming to be investigating Obama's birth, putting out things about his mom not knowing who the dad is... and if I were Obama, that would tick me off.  He's a terrible president, but he's also accomplishing something here, getting OBL.

Trump is a joke in comparison.

If I had just sent the SEALs in to get OBL, and the guy mocking me was hosting a game show, I'd laugh at him in a pointed fashion.

I hope future democrats are paying attention.  Fighting America's enemies is a good thing.  We like it.  I hope Obama ramps up his approach to Iran.  Unlikely, I guess.  but our opponent to Obama has to be more serious than some idiot birther with a TV show.

Obama will bring serious credentials now.  4 years in the White House, OBL being killed, etc.  99% of his administration is a miserable failure, but if we don't nominate a heavy weight, we aren't going to beat him.

36 There are 2 possible scenarios, both of which make it fairly ridiculous to congratulate Obama: scenario 1, for the first time since 9/11 we have BL in our sights and can kill him in which case we are congratulating Obama for a no-brainer, or, scenario 2: we've known where BL was for a while but for some mysterious reason this particular moment was deemed suitable to assassinate BL. and that just happens to be at a time when Obama's presidency is circling the drain.

The how's and where's of the information trail matter not wingnut.  It is only the fact that our dear glorious leader (pbuh) did what McChimpyHitler failed to do that matters.  Just as the kudos never go to the crew that designed, supplied, and built the building, they go to the faceman that shows up to cut the opening day ribbon.  On this swell of success, Obama will easily sail to victory in 2012 and will surpass RayGun's 525 electoral votes and 58.8% of the popular vote.

Officials say CIA interrogators in secret overseas prisons developed the first strands of information that ultimately led to the killing of Osama bin Laden.

Current and former U.S. officials say that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, provided the nom de guerre of one of bin LadenÂ’s most trusted aides. The CIA got similar information from MohammedÂ’s successor, Abu Faraj al-Libi. Both were subjected to harsh interrogation tactics inside CIA prisons in Poland and Romania.

Jeebus. Why does everyone think this was a hard choice for him?   Do you not understand the man's complete narcissism, and his total disregard for the military?   He didn't give a shit if this went bad.   He made the right decision only because he thought it was the best decision for himself, and how great he thought it would make him look if it went right.

This is why it wasn't a hard decision for him.

Several dozen JSOC operatives have died in Pakistan over the past several years. Their names are released by the Defense Department in the usual manner, but with a cover story — generally, they were killed in training accidents in eastern Afghanistan. That’s the code…

That's what deWon would have depended on if things had gone bad.   Get it, now?

No, it wasn't funny then or now. This guy's about as funny as The Clap. And he knew he would make the announcement on Bin Laden's death the very next night, and media would be entirely focused on that for weeks- thus denying Trump the chance to swing back. What a gutless piece of trash that Soetoro is. And he could have waited till morning to hold the presser- the fact that he chose to interrupt Trump's program should say something about these people.

This nation is facing a serious existential threat- and it's not coming from outside our borders, or from Donald Trump.

"These are the sorts of decisions that would keep me up at night."

Actually, that's not really a joke - it's a Freudian slip. Little, trivial, BS decisions like Bam described do keep him up at night. And his answer is always the same - read the polls, flip, then flop, then flip again. Maybe another flop after that. read the polls, flip . . . ad nauseam.

The audacity of this dope - taking credit for a decision that was based entirely upon defense programs and the military that he constantly attacked, criticized and tried to dismantle all before he was the leader of the free world. The information gleaned by the interrogations allowed under Bush set this up. If Nobama 2008 had been the president then, we would never have had the go ahead to interrogate in the first place.

Osama would still be licking up the hospitality of our pseudo-ally Pakistan.

How can you be proud of that? This was the US military doing what it does best - protecting the citizens of this country.

88 What matters is how "The View", Chris Matthews,  Maureen Dawd, and that show-piece-, Brooks Bros. assesses their hoilness.  Me, I'm watching " awn Stars"---Chumly is really stupid  And stupid.  I love the funny at the end of each show.  Chumly is really, really stupid.
