Who's The Worst News-Reader in the Media?
— Ace

Maddow? Yeah, pretty bad, as she claims to be honest and "nice" as she traffics in absurd lies, slurs, and conspiracy theories. And always with that sidewider smirk. She seems to think everything is "snark."

Lawrence O'Donnell? Fake tv tough guy who, whoops!, missed his opportunity to demonstrate his courage in Vietnam?

Ed Shultz? Fat redneck cracker whose contribution to the national discourse consists chiefly of awkward sweating?

Al Sharpton? Absolutely, we much consider him, and we much, we much, we much.

But I gotta tell ya: It's Martin Bashir.

Honestly, he's the worst.

While the others are annoying in one way or another (and Sharpton is just downright cute!), Bashir is just teeming with hatred.  It's actually creepy to watch.

While I do think he's a total douche, I honestly believe what he's doing is a schtick. I think he is a legitimate lefty, however I think he's being an over the top lefty on direction from MSNBC or he thinks it will increase his popularity with the MSNBC audience.

He strikes me as a Bill O'Reilly type in that he will say whatever he thinks his audience wants to hear, and whose real convictions lay closer to moving up the media ladder.

62 I was on with Bashir once. It was a lovely experience. He read straight from Media Matters prepared script that day, and I called it out. His attempt to portray me as a racist consisted of trying to associate me with a racist email forwarded by an obscure Orange County, California elected official. As I excoriated said obscure elected official in no uncertain terms, Bashir refused to accept it. He then went through another grotesque set of Media Matters planted racism by non association innuendo. I wholly expected this moment. And it was weirdly fun. There is a daily direct connection between the unions that pay for Media Matters PR work and the content that goes up at MSNBC. It is government funded and subsidized propaganda. It is crony capitalism at it's worse. But if we were to eliminate it we would be depriving ourselves of so much 'Resist We Much' found comedy. So the question remains what to do about the MSNBC problem? I say we let them be!

I keep reading more and more about the Elizabeth Warren scrunt's screed. Rush's words keep echoing: "Who, exactly on the left is there to compromise with?" Which will, regrettably, they will tut-tut, include a few necessary deaths along the way.

72 He started work as a journalist in 1986. He worked for the BBC until 1999 on programmes including Songs of Praise, Public Eye and Panorama and then he joined ITV, working on special documentary programmes and features for Tonight with Trevor McDonald. Bashir came to wide prominence in 1995 when he interviewed (for the BBC's Panorama programme) Diana, Princess of Wales about her failed marriage to the Prince of Wales.[3][4] Since then he has conducted interviews with, among others, Louise Woodward, the five suspects in the Stephen Lawrence case, Michael Barrymore, Jeffrey Archer, Major Charles Ingram, and Joanne Lees. Bashir was employed by ABC and co-presented their current affairs show Nightline. Along with Cynthia McFadden and Terry Moran, he took over Nightline from Ted Koppel in 2005 following the famous news anchor's final broadcast. In August 2010 Bashir left ABC for NBC and MSNBC where he will serve as a contributor for Dateline and an afternoon anchor for MSNBC.[1] Oh Mother of GAIA!

Speaking of which, the last time I remember SNL being funny was as follows.  The skit had the old doddering fool Charlie Rangel being interviewed by Rachel Maddow.  It basically started out as follows.  Rachel greets him and asks if he has time for a few questions.  Rangel responds with "Yes, young man."

Good timing, good delivery.

111 LOL.  This was pretty dramatic.  The guy really hates Chris Christie.

If he's so bad, why does NJ need him?

Though I agree NJ needs Christie, I am not sure Christie will be reelected there.  If they have any sense, he'll win a landslide.

I don't mind Christie running for president as well.  There's room for more moderate Republicans.  The frontrunning moderate today is Mitt Romney, who is not worthy of respect, simply as an unprincipled panderer.

112 I don't like the BBC news readers/hosts very much. We get that BBC America feed on our PBS station and those folks are toxically anti-American. They really hurt my feelings by being such back-stabbing shits. Even worse, they hurt my Dad's feelings a lot. Our home grown, and even our Pakistani via BBC Bashir types, don't bother me as much for some reason. I guess that I don't feel like they owe my Dad anything, not like the Brits do anyhow. For an accurate gauge of my feelings toward most of them, please see the banner at the top of this page.

118 Way back when Maddow first started I remember seeing a clip where she's interviewing somebody, they reply to her, and she gives them the "fish face" look - both eyes opening wide, blinking in unison, mouth going o-shaped, then back to normal, then o-shaped, at the same time, but damned if I can find it.  Trust me, it's hilarious.

Ed and Larry?  They're the pontificating pustules on the posterior of person-kind.

Al?  Better not say, I'd have to denounce myself, much.

132 Hey Andrew (and the rest of the moronic masses), arguments with all liberals go this way. I've had family members accuse me of racism because I dislike the president's policies ... humorous as I am married to a minority. I pointed this out and my family member began sputtering and got to a point of inchoate rage. Liberals don't have a good argument. So they will try to confuse and obfuscate with random "facts" which are often wrong, or purposefully misinterpreted observations, and will attempt to define in binary terms that which should be a continuous distribution. Its sad. After demolishing this family member's arguments, I got to the real issue. They are afraid of what's will happen to them if medicare and social security goes away. When I indicated we'd help, they angrily refused and demanded to be on their own. On the dole, on their own. Keep at it, we support you. You are fighting the good fight. And it does matter, and it does make a difference.

133 Who's The Worst News-Reader in the Media?

Mika Bzzrzzezzziznzszkzi of The Morning Joe. The bubblehead reads talking points sent to her live, on-air, from the White House. I think that's even worse than Stephanopolous et al. getting their morning briefing from the White House and then going on air.

The other clowns are outrageously outraged for effect... like competing to wear the ugliest tie on Ugly Tie Day. They're characters playing to type and easily ignored because they're so wacky. It's the "pleasant, honest brokers" who keep a lower profile but still have a large soapbox who do the most damage. Case in point? Walter Cronkite. The face of news was two-faced in news. While Mika is no Cronkite, she's still going with subterfuge.

143 OK my comment on the new logic in the MSM concerning Republicans and Tea Partiers loving Herman Cain as "a way to hide their true racism"

1) Racists hate blacks and want them back as slaves according to members of the Congressional Black Caucus and others.
2) So by voting for Herman Cain the Tea Party is just hiding their racism
3) Herman Cain gets elected so now these racists are being "ruled" by another black president
4) They pull their support for Cain and Obama gets relected the current black president they hate because he is black

How does this work again?

149 This week I saw Andrew Breitbart speak at Nixon library in Orange County. Clearly the man is passionate and I ordered his book because I realize there's a lot for me to learn. Martin Bashir accuses Andrew of selectively editing during his interview and then selectively edits himself which Andrew points out. But Bahir doesn't even notice the hypocrisy. Again, truth doesn't matter, Bashir intent is to label Andrew a racist. The interview is not about the truth, it's about deception.
