— Ace Well... fine I guess.
Was he waiting on Palin's decision?
Speaking of Huckabee running for President, Christie may, or may not, decide to run, or not run, this weekend.
His father, brother, and wife are all said to be... in favor of him running.

I hope they get in. I don't care for Huckabee, but I would like to push of the second tier people like Bachman and Santorum and get real choices in the race.(even if they are people I won't choose)
I still don't understand why Huckabee didn't get in. Obama the most vulnerable incumbent in recent memery.

On one hand it says people think Obama is easy pickens.
On the other hand, it might be telling us we have a lot of egotistical dopes in the GOP.

And thank you, Rick Perry: the fact of your unprepared and faltering run is encouraging these two to run. Had you been prepared and stuck to your guns of "I'll make Washington as inconsequential to your life as possible" and "Barack Obama is a stuttering clusterf*ck of a miserable failure" (maybe not your words, but certainly the sentiment), Christie wouldn't even be considering, and we'd never have to hear the Huckster's name again.

Naturally, the only way to learn more about the next attack is to torture a surviving terrorist — which Miller illustrates pornographically — even though the Scary Muslim says “pain means nothing to me,” so it’s not like the Fixer is torturing, you know, a human being.

The real question remains, is Palin in or out...
FLORIDUH announcing its primary move or not today will shake up the race, and force those who are in to jump in very soon.
Meanwhile, Herman Cain is gaining traction.
Then, there is the other question, that I remember well Oasshat saying that he would be fine to be a one-term president a few years ago, the OTHER will she or won't she jump in. Yep, you got it, what's the Hildebeast got up her pantsuit leg....

For those you who may not know, judges in Texas are elected, not appointed. So Perry's big sin here, apparently, was supporting a republican contender for another republican's seat.

So, at worst, he appointed him to a first term or (more likely) to an interim term. If the people of Texas didn't like, we'd get rid of him (I'm not sure who Steven Smith is, so I'd have to look up whatever happened to him).

First of all, it was sarcasm, as are half the posts there. AP was in one of his moods where someone on twitter had given him shit a couple of days before for some overzealous commenters so he got all zero tolerance out of nowhere. I told him it was a joke but didn't ask to be unbanned like some there do. It's their policy, they just very selectively enforce it.
Second, the middle east is doing a bang up job of genocide on their own.

Yeah... I've just been doing some research on justice Green (who replaced Smith after being backed by Perry and Cornyn (of all people))- having read a couple of his opinions, he seems pretty solidly conservative to me.
The two I've read so far: A dissenting opinion on an Exorcism Tort case (yes, really) where he basically said that when the plaintiff makes their case without using religious arguments, the defense should be required to do so as well (I'm for that).
The Second was an opinion against the PUC saying they don't have the authority to unilaterally modify contracts between a provider (including transmission rates) and a Co-Op.
I'm not seeing how those are not conservative.

TALLAHASSEE — State leaders on Friday set Florida's 2012 presidential primary for Jan. 31, bucking national party rules and ensuring that several other states will leapfrog Florida and set earlier elections.

You know what? Good for Florida. Them being that early means delegates are awarded proportionally so it won't be winner-take-all and might hurt Mitt's attempt to be John McCain 2.0

And you don't know shit.
Rodriguez stepped down from the TXSC because he was elevated to the Federal district court by Bush.
Rodriguez was supported by Hutchinson and Cornyn for the TXSC spot.
I supposed that he is tagged "liberal" because, in his very scant record as TXSC, he wrote an opinion that a minor girl should be able to seek an abortion without notifying her parents.

Although......you seem to assuming a motive here for Smith.
Smith also ran in a couple of subsequent elections and, even with the coveted Ron Paul endorsement, couldn't win those either.
Posted by: mpurinTexas, Evil Conservanatrix, supports Rick Perry, bitch at September 30, 2011 12:01 PM (pY3GI)
So... because Smith defeated "his boy" (a liberal, by your telling), Perry then backed a conservative republican (based on reading his opinions) who has won two terms? Does that make sense?
And, if Rodriguez was elevated to Federal Court by Bush, he couldn't have been too bad. He's the man who got us Alito and Roberts. And, say what you will about whatshername- no one claimed she was liberal- just inexperienced.

Yeah, check my post at 181.
But Rodriguez ran as a moderate. Smith as a conservative. But Smith couldn't hang onto the seat when another conservative challenged him, nor could he win a seat held by a conservative.
Just food for thought.
Still wondering why this is any evidence that Perry would appoint liberal judges.

Yep, that's right. Bush wouldn't have vetted anyone Rick Perry requested be elevated to the federal court. Perry was basically just appointing Rodriguez to the federal courts by proxy.
Do you read your own comments for comprehension? Bush still nominated him. Bush would still have done his own vetting, and had Rodriguez not been up to snuff, he would have selected someone else. Or do you think Perry could have gotten someone like Sonya Sotomayor appointed just on his request?

I've seen no evidence that Rodriguez is a flaming liberal.
At worst, he described himself as moderate.

I've been looking for an opinion he wrote, and I can't find one.
The closest I came was a summary of one he wrote (joined by 6 other Justices, IIRC) overturning a previous court who said a girl had to have parental notification before she had an abortion. Of course, as a side note- the Justices cited evidence (that is: that had seen and were persuaded by this evidence) that the girl faced threat of harm if parental notification was pursued.
So... I'm not seeing where that's a liberal decision.
It's almost like a certain supporter of "Hi, I like individual mandates, ethanol subsidies, and tax increases" Romney is trying to find things to nit-pick about Perry's record.
What, Polynikes? Was it not actually a coyote? Did Rick Perry shoot your dog by mistake?

Former democrat (like Regan, like Perry). And the only one who drudged that point up was, surprise!, Smith. So....yeah.
And how is that anytime Perry (or any other conservative) nominates a Hispanic to a prominent position, it's pandering?
Sounds racist to me.

Here is a good article regarding Perry's selection of Rodriguez:
Key quote:
"Rodriguez named the reliably liberal Supreme Court Justice David Souter as his judicial role model"

^^ Is it a crime to be a democrat now? You DO know that a lot of Dims in the South are conservative right? I just played hell in the last election with the NRA - who endorsed Democrat Gene Taylor for Mississippi.
But then again - Taylor had a flawless record on gun control.

I don't want to vote for Romney and Christie in the primary. They are the establishment candidates for me. Christie has great communication skill and has dones some good work in NJ. That 's about it. He is playing hard-to-get with us after emphatically saying no. For all the pissing towards Palin 's "indecision", Christie is even worse. I am done with him and the Rep establishment.
