8 It wasn't amazing from my perspective.  It was the most horrifying sporting event that I have ever watched.

The horror.  The horror.

Caveat: that will be hard to do if you have to do a shot every time Tim McCarver goes on a rant about outfielders playing too deep

Posted by: kbdabear at October 28, 2011 03:41 PM (Y+DPZ)

10 Extra innings can be torture if it means more Tim McCarver

14 Nolan Ryan should pitch for the Rangers.  Surely he has at least 7 innings in him, he hasn't pitched since 1993.  That should be plenty of rest.

EST sucks for sports.  And getting old I spose.  My weekday bedtime is around 10.

I missed last night.

Since it's Fri I might be able to watch the whole game tonight.  Probably will be a 10 to 1 blowout.  Nothing beats a game 7 though.  Even if it is two teams I don't care about.

I can't quite decide who I want to win which is unusual this late in a series.  I normally root for the National League, for various reasons, the major one being that my team, the Rockies are in it, but I really like Nolan Ryan and what he has done for the Rangers.

16 Let's play TWO!

I'm for the New York Rangers!

17 The game was ok, but the comment thread was off the chain. McCarver's wife is right. Buck does make my gaydar go beep beep beep. Specially on Fox with Troy Boy riding gun. Bet they go wild on Halloween. three more makes the Village People

Put that in the bank. He detests the entire state of Texas with the possible exception of Austin, and Rangers club president Nolan Ryan is a longtime conservative Republican

Yes, but then again Tony La Russa and Albert Pujols are Tea Partiers who spoke at Glenn Beck's 9/12 rally.

So it goes both ways.  At least it's not the Yankees or Sox playing in the WS.

Obama isn't watching the game. Obama knows less about baseball than an unborn Zebra with an underdeveloped brain.

Yeah, I don't think his "single mom" had many "catches" with him as a youngster.  He throws like a damn girl.  If he wasn't ruining our country, I'd feel sorry for him.

Remember when Obama, that die hard White Sox fan, said they played at  Kaminskey Park.

Dumbass fake. Like it's not bad enough that he's a poseur as President. But to be a poseur of a sports fan? Sheesh. The American people have Zero standards.

39 Honestly, I want the Rangers to win simply on the logic that they've never won a World Series before, but I wouldn't mind if the Cards won either.  If the Cards win, they will have completed one of the most amazing comeback runs in the entire history of baseball.  They were 10 & 1/2 games back in the Wild Card spot at the end of August, and completed a comeback (and capitalized on a Braves collapse) that was every bit as epic as the more news-making Red Sox implosion.  But unlike the Rays, they kept fighting into the postseason, and my god have they given us an entertaining World Series.  I mean, seriously: Game 6 will go down in the history of the game.

40 KennyM,

What is Nolan's record in World Series games again?

If they do that, we'll just send Bob Gibson out there to the mound.

Why is there no consequence for failure at the fox pre game? Disregard. Same network that still employs McCarver.

I am kinda like Jeff B, even though those damn birds handed my Braves their asses. Actually, my Braves handed their own asses over, but at any rate, I am rooting for Texas based on them being Seriesless thus far, and also on the fact that their players are better looking than the St. Louis players. But mainly because of them being better looking.

The way Ian Kinsler wiggles his bidness as he's batting is trophy worthy in and of itself.

In the days before technology somewhat reliable, often the radio broadcast would cut out, leaving Reagan (who was thousands of miles from the actual game) with no knowledge of what was going on at the game.

He learned to improvise, colorfully, adding his own commentary, many foul balls and strategy occurring before the feed came back up and he could resume "truthful" commentary.

True.  The Cardinals are capable of putting a lot of runs on the board.  This could be another high scoring game.

It wasn't Beck's 9/12 event it was his 8/28 event.  Both LaRussa and Pujols looked very respectable.  I didn't suspect a thing that they were lefties.  It actually seemed to me that Pujols was quite religious.

The event wasn't political so there would have been no reason for them to even bring it up, it was more spiritual.  I know, I was there.  It kinda creeped me out a little being around all these true believers, I mean really really true believers, not just regular ones.

You need to keep the Advil up on a regular schedule (better with muscle relaxer combo) to reduce the inflammation on the Sciatic nerve.

The "bicycle" is better after initial relief. You'll need to support your lower back with your hands while bracing forearms and elbows on the bed.

It was a good time though, I met up with 5 people from Texas at my hotel.  They were just hanging around in the lobby and we started chatting.  Stuck with them all weekend, it was fun.  I just never saw that many overly religious people in one place at one time though.  We were on the left side of the podium right in front of the screen next to the reflecting pool.  We were lucky and got a cab that took us right there about 6:00 a.m.

They were older Ex military types.  I talked to some overtly religious types, but mostly what I confronted was the unrealistic, Ron Paul types who, even at that point were all gung ho to impeach OWaffle.

Hearts were in the right place, but had no understanding of politics and how it works.  Also had no idea of how the demographics and political winds had blown leftward since their formative years.

I tried to gently explain otherwise, but met with quite a bit of resistance.

Be careful of heat and exercise- often can make it worse; different for everyone. For me, pillow inder my stomach and cold packs for a couple of days, with pain killers [Rx stuff] and Baclofen [muscle relaxant, different than flexaril], along with rest.

Hope it gets better for you soon, with whatever works for you.

Yeah,  unlike Washington and Ron Roenicke (Brewer manager) LaRussa isn't worried about hurting the delicate feelings of his pitchers.  They start to screw up, they're pulled.  They'll get over the hit to their self-esteem when they get fitted for their WS rings.

637 Last night's game was exciting but it was an awful baseball game. Lousy pitching, lousy fielding, and despite the score, lousy hitting with so many people left on base. They looked like a beer league game. This game is going much better.

I really do like the Cardinals but I'd love to see the Rangers win. They never have before, they are owned by Nolan Ryan - one of my favorite all time players - and they're a favorite of George Bush.

So I guess whichever way this goes is fine by me. I expect Motte to come in and give it up in the 9th, Rangers win.

Frankly, I don't blame some of them. Some of them played consistently well and a few others mostly played well but made a few terrible mistakes. When you come that close, it's never easy.

Okay, there are far worse things than a CArd win. Coulda been the damn Yankees. I like the CArds. They had a great run, and by God, they have just outplayed the Rangers.

Arthur Rhodes gets a ring, that' way cool.

And did I mention at least it ain't the Yankees?

752 Last year, attending the first ever World Series game at the Ballpark, I was beyond ecstatic that they had made it there and didn't mind that they ended up losing the Series. This year - especially after last night - I can tell you it sucks ass.

Well, Cards fans, I can't say your boys didn't earn the win.  It kills this Brewers fan to say this, but congrats to you.  At least I can say my boys lost to the best.

(And it is always nice to have a Yankees-free WS.  The only time in my life I ever rooted for the Yankees was in 2001 - and they lost that year.  I started crying when that eagle flew across the stadium, because, damnit, a month after 9/11, they were playing baseball  at Yankee stadium.  The WS seemed like one big fu to the terrorists that year.

789 I love it that I can go anywhere in the world wearing a St. Louis Cardinals shirt and people know where I'm from. Our kids ran around our cul de sac beating on pots, and then we used up leftover firecrackers. Definitely taking them to the parade! Go Cards, forever!!!!!!
