We should afford the first lady the same respect we'd give to, say, Laura Bush, no matter her affiliation.  Criticize her on what she says ("For the first time in my adult life....") not on her G-d given looks.

Is it ok to point out that some of her outfits are just ridiculous and do not deserve the hearty praise and love-fests from the media?  She can look nice and quite pretty, but doesn't always pull it off - instead going for more outlandish/inappropriate things.

I submit to you. If the streets and playgrounds of America were safe, food was affordable, and the average American family had at least one member that had some time in the late afternoon. This problem would disappear on it's own.

One of the most chilling things I ever heard was that Obama got the Democrats to vote for health-care reform by begging them to not let him fail. The implication was that as a "historic" figure, he needed to be successful for the good of the nation. Supporting Obama was a way to make up for the country's past transgressions.

I think he'll end up begging the American people for another chance, and I think they'll probably give it to him. Our racial history is his trump card.

Comparing blacks to apes was in the past a specific comment on race. However, not a single person on the planet called Bush "Chimpy" because he was white.
