— Dave in Texas Seems like a few mourners for Dear Leader weren't appropriately toeing the line, so they got the Nikolai Yehzov treatment.

Disappearing in North Korea. Happens a lot.
Historical photoshoppin below the fold. Now you see a Kommissar, now you don't.
Walkin down the Volga with my homeboy..

And now he's like Area 51. "It never happened."

UPDATE: It's a fake, look at the cars.

The current crop of useful idiots learned from the last generation. Even if they aren't consciously aware of it, the schools have had their curriculum changed over the years by sympathizers to indoctrinate j-students as much as possible.

Yeah, I guess I get that. My point is that you would only be afraid of a preference cascade if you knew the people had a reason to hate you. Which you wouldn't believe if you actually thought you were doing what was best for the Country and its People.
My general belief is that people don't believe they're bad- indeed, that they think they're generally "good," so actively believing that you must keep the proles in line through this kind of obvious but, above all, petty propaganda seems like a window into a mind so warped that I cannot understand it at all.

It is. Instead of rolling dice and having to get certain combinations, you play by looking at combinations of photos. More points for the most obvious changes from an original to a doctored photo.

That's not to say it isn't doctored, just that it can't be determined with the references at hand.

Rational people are usually quite convinced that they are good people doing good work, even if that work is primarily in their own self-interest. That doesn't mean that their work cannot result in evil.
The criminally insane (and truly evil) people don't care about anything but their self-interest. However, many of them have learned how to adopt the veneer of the seemingly rational person. These are the most dangerous ones.

Yeah, she's going to take one week before we take the kids out of daycare to get used to things around the house. Of course, that very next week she won't only be keeping our kids, but she's going to start baby-sitting another as well. I'm sure she's going to be absolutely wiped out at the end of the day.
I'm going to try to get her to force herself onto a schedule, even for that first week, just so it's not quite as much of a shock. We'll have to see how that goes.
She knows this is the plan so why isn't she pursuing this dream of mine?
I don't know. Have you tried presenting you plan with charts made from chocolate and strawberries (or raspberries, depending on taste)?

I believe it's a process: first there's deception which leads to an acceptance of evil which leads to an acting out of the evil which leads to madness. I think Shakespeare captured the process very well in "Mac Beth".

How would the NKVD or whoever retouched photos back then? Would you have made a print, blown it up, airbrushed or painted it, then photographed the altered print?

While enlarging the negative to make a print you "dodge" or mask the unwanted item out of the print, leaving a blank spot. Then you airbrush in whatever you want.Posted by: Ed Anger - Certified Kos Kid at December 30, 2011 06:22 AM (7+pP9)

One of those photos (the original, oddly enough) is cropped. The (ostensibly) photoshopped one is wider.
It's hard to tell, because the perspective is farther away and I can't zoom in on the picture, but if you look at specific sillouette shapes in the crowd, you can see in the 2nd photo they are the exact same sillouettes in the exact same position in the same place.
It would have to be the same photo. If you could zoom in on it, I'd guess you could tell easily one way or the other.

No they have not.
The perspective has changed. One photo is cropped, the other takes a wider view - they are both presented as the same pixel size, so one of them gets skewed.

I'm thinking that Luap Nor's actual performance in the caucuses will be considerably less than the polls indicate because the majority of his supporters, while they may be sober enough to answer the phone and "talk" to a pollster, will still be too stoned to find the actual caucus locations and show up at the right time.

The rowboat incident, with the reporter rowing through 4 inches of flooding
Extreme closeups of protesters at the SCOTUS building during the Bush/Gore controversy, and wide angle showing there were about ten of them in all.

Sadly, I know leftists who agree with the human purging of undesirables.
Yezhov also conducted a thorough purge of the security organs, both NKVD and GRU, removing and executing many officials who had been appointed by his predecessors Yagoda and Menzhinsky, but even his own appointees as well. He admitted that innocents were being falsely accused, but dismissed their lives as unimportant so long as the purge was successful.

All they really have to ask and prove is: Are you a registered Republican. If it's only Republicans, paul is not a factor
Lots of people seem to think this is a solution, but to the extent that those registered Republican voters keep nominating Romneys, McCains, Bushes and Doles, I feel inclined to remind you that the entire GOP, if every single registered republican votes republican, is only about half the votes you need to win anything.

Your talking about the General Election. I'm talking about the lunacy of letting democrats and independents picking our Candidate.
And I'm telling you, you need independants.
I am not saying you need a specific independant, or moderate centrist independants, it could be conservative independants, but registered Republicans do not cut it. Not any way.
And to the extent registered Republicans are the sort of blue-haired church ladies who go for whoever's turn it is, getting the indies out of your primary will make shit worse for you. You would regret it.

Here you all are, all ascared over Ron Paul.
Gary Johnson will win the L nomination and be on the ballot in all 57 states.
There are some candidates on the right he would have a hard time poaching off....
And there are other candidates on the right that would, as I have said above, flat out chase away small government voters. Who they run to, is irrelevant.

I have to agree with the only other conservative Jew in New Jersey.
The purpose of a primary is to choose the candidate most favored by the party, and not by some ever-changing group of independents, Democrats who feel like voting, and various other lunatics who want drugs legalized (Yes, I'm looking on the Paultards).
The party's candidate should be chosen by those within the party who are motivated to vote -- and nobody else!

Re: the photos
The second photo (right) does appear to have been taken a few seconds after the first. However, note the guys with the tripod. It's unlikely they would have been able to pick that thing up and get into line so quickly. Also, they wouldn't want to be that close to people, because they tend to trip over the tripod legs.

OK... actually some of the cars do appear to have moved a bit.
Anyone know how fast the cars were going? Unless they were really, really really crawling, I cannot fathom how the car could move so little and the people could disappear from the shot altogether in that time.
Posted by: Entropy, and if you don't agree you hate America and want Obama to win at December 30, 2011 10:39 AM (pu3AL)
The article says that the photos were taken a few seconds apart. All of the out of order people would have had to run furiously away from the parade to not be in both shots. Photoshopped.

The preachiness of the "Drug war has failed!" people is a little tough to tolerate. How about if you get back to me when you examine the issues in the real world and have some solutions to:
1. Who pays for drug-addicted babies and their life long medical costs?
2. The huge increase in the demand for abortions for many of those fetuses.
3. The increase in DUI, which will increase the number of auto-accident deaths.
4. The unknown. but presumably large, increase in the number of Americans who become addicted to drugs, with the attendant social problems.

Yes we must choose a "moderate" Republican who is all mavericky and shit to get that "independent swing voter". And he will thus turn Blue States Red.
I'm assuming that's directed at what I started... even though I specifically and explicitly rejected that, so... whatever.

Not if it was a few real seconds. Seconds are longer than most people give them credit for. One-one-thousand, two-two-thousand, three-three-thousand.
Plenty of time for people to walk out of shot in a 'few' seconds. And also, that would mean the cars were really, really, really crawling for those few seconds, because the people would have travelled about twice the distance the cars did. The cars went a single car length.
So they'd have had to be going about half walking speed, or 1mph. It's hard to even drive a car at 1mph. You'd be on the break the whole time. I dunno about N. Korean cars though... 1mph would be a remarkably slow speed even for a parade procession.

So my position is either the people have been photoshopped out, or the cars have cutouts in the floor and the people inside are pushing them.
North Korea? Seems plausible.

What part of the Constitution gives the Federal government the authority to regulate intrastate marijuana production and distribution?
Quit with the bullshit. You either support a constitutional government or you don't. If you want to ban pot, you should get an ammendment. That would make the prohibition legal at least.
Do you support the Constitution as a limitation of government powers or not? If they can ignore one thing when it suits them, they can ignore another just as easily.

Legalizing pot federally has as much to do with the 1st ammendment, and property rights, as it does to do with pot.
The government did the same thing with pot that it did to Susan Kelo.

It can be banned at a state level.
I don't personally endorse or advocate banning it, I think it should be outright legal.
But you can ban it at a state level constitutionally.

Anyone who thinks the pot issue is remotely seperable from any other civil liberties or small government issues, need to read our beloved Scalia's decision from Gonzales (R - AG) v. Raiche.
"Registered Republican" types are willing to give the government unlimited power in the name of banning pot.
OK, you're worried about your children.
Franklin - Those who would give up essential Liberty to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
Patrick Henry - In a state of tranquillity, wealth, and luxury, our descendants would forget the arts of war and the noble activity and zeal which made their ancestors invincible. Every art of corruption would be employed to loosen the bond of union which renders our resistance formidable. When the spirit of liberty, which now animates our hearts and gives success to our arms, is extinct, our numbers will accelerate our ruin and render us easier victims to tyranny. If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom - go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

Minor point - Trotsky was never a friend of Stalin's. LDT was airbrushed out of the Revolution and out of Lenin's circle, and Stalin frequently inserted. Stalin really hated the fact that he was not Trotsky.
