— Ace JWF doesn't know whether this Occupy The Couch protester is serious or doing a parody. I'm voting serious.
Verum Serum has a lot of videos of the Oakland PD busting the protests.
I'm perplexed as to why some Democrats -- like, almost all of them -- thought that supporting OWS would be a net vote-winner.
They didn't know where this was heading? Towards violence, disorder, and riot?
Or did they know, and still thought that was where they wanted to take the country?

I think they thought these could be their Tea Parties, but failed to recoginize the rabble-rousing and other differences.
Or they believed all the MFM spin on them, and figured there was no real difference.

They want to take the country through violence, disorder and riot so that they can turn it into their socialist utopia. Tear it down to rebuild it in your own image. Alinsky 101.

Me no likey. Voters are fickle. We haven't quite cured stupid yet:
A new CBS News-New York Times poll shows 43 percent of people agree with the aims of the movement, while just 27 percent say they disagree.
The poll also asked which class voters thought the Obama Administration and Republicans in Congress favored. While people were pretty evenly split on whether the administration favors the middle class, the rich or the poor, they were all but unanimous about which class the Republicans favor; 69 percent said Republicans in Congress favor the rich, while just 9 percent said the middle class and 2 percent said the poor.

Right - with the aims. And as always with the left, their aims are taken to be the most benevolent possible. Let's reduce income inequality. Here are all these poor people who've been screwed over by The System; let's change it and help them! No wonder you see numbers like 60% support bandied about.
Consider communism. How many otherwise sensible people agree with the old cliche, "Communism is a nice idea in theory, but in practice it just [blows, turns vicious, falls apart, etc.]"? A majority, easily. It sounds like such a tolerant thing to say, and you can believe it only if you believe that communism is about making sure people's needs are met.
I've startled people by saying, No, communism is not a nice idea in theory, and it only gets worse from there.

The Tea Party demonstrated in large numbers, then went back home, leaving the place clean.
The Flea Baggers camp, making a filthy, continuing nuisance of themselves, and giving things time to fester and boil over.
The Left assumes that taking a stranglehold on things is the way to extract concessions, but the Tea Party made their points and left them for people to consider. Witness the relative success of the two.

Let's reduce income inequality.
I never understood this. Whenever I ask for an explanation as to why this is bad, I get a rephrasing of income inequality. "The rich get richer."
My response goes something like this: "I've noticed that people who are interested in English literature pursue English literature, get really smart in English literature, and amass degrees in English literature. The same is true when it comes to Russian literature. Now that I think about it, I could say the same thing about sports. My friend's sister got really good at gymnastics. You should see all the ribbons and medals and trophies she got for gymnastics. It's probably true for everything, isn't it?"
When they agree, I say, "So why does it have to be different when it comes to money?"

B5, after season one, kicked Star Trek's ass like whoa. What I wouldn't give for a John Sheridan-type to be running against Obama...
These OWS proTEATers need a G'kar moment.
Narn: The Book of G'Kar is holy. If it was written under the direct inspiration of the universe itself as everyone believes it to be, then the whole of it must be true. How then can you go against it?
G'Kar: Well, if the book is holy and I am holy, then I must help you become closer to the thoughts of the universe. Put your face in the book.
*The Narn hesitates*
G'Kar: The first thing we are taught is that while outsiders cannot be trusted, we can always trust a fellow Narn, yes? This is your point, is it not? (the Narn nods) Good. Then put your face in the book.
*Narn leans over and puts his face in the book*
G'Kar: *slams book shut on Narn's head*
Ta'Lon: There's lesson number one.
Only the OWS proTEATer's book would be The Communist Manifesto, and it wouldn't be so much slamming their face in a book as it would be them getting raped by the person holding it.

"We," said my radical young neighbor, smashing my window,
"speak the essential conscience of mankind." "If it comes to no more than small breakage," I said, "speak away. But tell me, isn't smashing some fun for its own sake." "We will not be dismissed as frivolous," he said, grabbing my crowbar and starting to climb the roof. "You are seriously taken," I said, raising my shotgun. "Please weigh seriously how close the range is." "Fascist!" he said, climbing down. "Or are you a liberal trying to fake me with no shells in that thing?" "I'm a lamb at windows, a lion at roofs," I told him. "You'll more or less have to guess for yourself what's loaded until you decide to call what may be a bluff. Meanwhile, you are also my neighbor's son: If you'll drop that crowbar and help me pick up this glass, I could squeeze a ham-on-rye from my tax structure, and coffee to wash it down while we sit and talk about my need of windows and yours to smash them." "Not with a lumpen-liberal pseudo-fascist!" he sneered, and jumped the fence to his own yard. There's this about essential consciences: given young legs, they have no trouble at fences. -John Ciardi

I am fapping so much to the pics of gassed commies that I'm gonna have to hire someone to help out around the house.

One of my lefty friends actually said that it's ok for trash cans and newspaper boxes to get dumped over 'as long as it wasn't hurting anyone'. She has no concept of private property rights. So, I think they know that violence is a viable option for them.
They also don't get that if they keep asking for "revolution", they may get it.

I guess I don't, cuz I really didn't care seeing dead muslims in the streets of Cairo and Tripoli because I knew it was a bullshit movement. Seeing what our education system has wrought with these over privileged little communist fucks, I think a little dose of physical reality is what they need. I'm still hoping and praying the authorities in Greece start opening up.

Right, and not just of property rights: They think that they have the right for someone else to work for them for free. It's what their economic platform, such as it is, boils down to, so why not make a mess and let someone who cares clean it up?

I was in NW Indiana for the 4th this year. Them Hoosiers is kwazy peepuls. We set off 8 boxes of those 30$ a pop 500 grain shows in the cul-de-sac at once. One guy was walking back from a set with another in his hand and it lit, scattered the crowd and blew a hole in his grass. He's a police sergeant.

Unfortunately there will come a time in the near future when these disaffected useful idiots and assorted n'erdowell freaks will join forces with the street rats who are presently preying on them, and turn their collective bile lose on everyday, law abiding citizens.
Throw in some union thugs and some out of work workers who are just angry (probably with good reason, but with no good direction), some down and out veterans who could care less about their oath (because they too are angry and rudderless now, as well as bored), and some nice racial/ethnic/religious tension brought into play by certain groups, and yes, you have exactly what the Democrats want (and sadly some Republicans too) as they could care less about the country and are all about their own personal gain.
People will be willing to hand over all of their freedoms to keep the zombie barbarians at bay, and maybe just possibly get a little employment, a little bread money, a little respect.
It's been done before in exactly the same way, and that's how these things usually worked out. Doubtful this time will be any different, unless the country gets really lucky.

For now maybe, but in most districts you can't vote after being sent to jail for assaulting (or even threatening) a police officer. So I'm guessing soon I'll have more votes than him.
