37 A bombshell report released Wednesday on Operation Fast and Furious faulted a range of federal agencies for the failed anti-gunrunning program and accused officials in charge of a "disregard" for public safety. In the wake of the report, one Justice Department official resigned.

The sprawling report by the department's inspector general is the most comprehensive account yet on the deadly operation which allowed weapons to "walk" across the U.S.-Mexico border and resulted in hundreds of firearms turning up at crime scenes in both countries.

The report says Attorney General Eric Holder was not made aware of potential flaws in the program until February of last year. But the report cites 14 other department employees -- including Criminal Division head Lanny Breuer -- for potential wrongdoing, recommending the department consider disciplinary action against them.

It also marked Jason Weinstein, the deputy assistant attorney general for the Criminal Division, as the highest-ranking DOJ employee in a position to stop the program. Weinstein, who disputes the findings, is nevertheless resigning in the wake of the report.

84 Drudge had a link yesterday to a girl singing karaoke in a grocery store (or is that the mall singer you guys are talking about?). She looked to be about 14-15 and sang "I will always love you" - I know, I know, enough of that tune. But as a retired choral music teacher, that girl was flat out amazing! Video looked to be off of a cell phone-but maybe it was all a planned deal. But they didn't even have her name. Yes, Carly Rose has had voice lessons and training and may be well known in certain areas already. Still, the ability of these shows to really show her talent to a MUCH bigger audience should not be dismissed. I always pay attention to song choice when I watch these things, because song choice can win you a competition or lose it for you. "Feelin' Good" is actually from the Broadway musical "The Roar of the Greasepaint - the Smell of the Crowd" and it was written by two British composers. Nina Simone did one of the more popular covers of this song - its got a real 'Porgy&Bess/Summertime' vibe to it. Carly Rose did shock the judges with this choice, but from my work with younger singers, they love a soulful ballad more than anything else. The judges (actually just Simon & L.A.Reid) were stunned because they knew that she had to have some real solid musical influences in her life to even be aware of that song. And she nailed it!

86 She has a very nice voice. She will have to work on her dynamics and her runs. Everyone started cheering just because they liked her voice and it was surprising coming from a kid but I don't think she nailed the song. Great for a kid that age though and far better than the three notes I can sing when the shower nozzle is aimed just right.

91 I'm afraid to watch it, because I just don't want to be disappointed yet again. People tell me all the time to watch a video because so-and-so is "a fantastic singer!" The problem is, what most people nowadays consider a "good singer" is someone who does a lot of chest-voice belting and excessive vocal gymnastics. Let's see how well she sings some Schubert Lieder, and then I'll tell you whether or not she's a good singer.
