— Ace Now, I'm sure he can find some helpful judges who would order the ballots changed in some states... but I can see a lot of judges, in a lot of states, telling them "You had three and a half years to get this sorted out, champ."
So, in practical terms, he's got three weeks and a day.
"As a sitting president and vice president, Obama and Biden are both considered the Democrats' presumptive nominees and will not be the official nominees until after Charlotte," a lawyer familiar with the party nominating process tells me. "Each party has to file paperwork with each state once the candidates become official nominees. So it's still quite possible for Obama to drop Biden and replace him with someone else and pay no consequences with listing on ballots."
Tick-tick-tick-tick-tick...
What do you guys think? Would it make a difference?
Who could the Democrats bring in to help the ticket? I can only think of Hillary Clinton and Andrew Cuomo.
I wish I could think of a reason that both would decline. People claim that Hillary isn't interested in joining Obama's failing bid for re-election. Well, serving as VP for four years is better than serving for eight. And of course if she somehow managed to help Obama win, she'd be the automatic nominee in 2016.
Now, people say "But she'd be that anyway..." But no, no she wouldn't be, not if Andrew Cuomo took the deal, and helped Obama win. Then he becomes the automatic nominee for 2016.
So, actually, both have an incentive to take the deal, if only to position themselves against the other.
I wish I didn't see it that way, but I do.

At this point it might be better for her to say with regret she has to stay on as Secretary of State. That foreign affairs are at too critical a junction, Syria and such, to risk State being leaderless right now.
When Obama is as toasty as those corn stalks he posed before in Iowa after his defeat to Romney. Then Hillary and Bill can start rebuilding the Democrat label for her run in 2016.

If Obama wins, his second term will look like Bush's second term. It would effectively poison the VP.
Imagine if Cheney had stepped down in 2004 and McCain had become VP in 2004. Does anyone think that would have given him a better chance in 2008?

So Cuomo would be the better choice, a lesser "known," to the Left statist ticket. The only impediment? Obama does not - I repeat does not - want to move to the center even if it would increase his chances for victory. Obama must pander to his base as he is losing the middle and I just don't see anyone buying such a late-term move from Team Obama. That dog just don't hunt.

Obama's already locked up demented liberals ready to die for their failed secular religion. How does bringing another priest on board help him?
New Yorkers aren't popular -- distrusted, even despised -- outside of the New York/east coast enclaves that are already deep blue. Somewhere, once uber-popular Mayor and 9/11 political icon Rudy Giuliani might is nodding his head in agreement. Putting a Cuomo on the ticket shaves a few ticks off of the rustbelt states that he's already in danger of losing anyway.
And Hillary? She's too old and too ugly. She'll look like a bloated gaseous corpse in another four years, and no one has ever been elected American President on a platform of being a bloated gaseous corpse (h/t Politifact).

Sure, he brings nothing to the table, at all. But, he's not to blame, either. So, replacing him doesn't shed any baggage for Obama. Which means that whoever replaces him has to bring something important to the table.
Cuomo brings competence or whatever, but the VP is not in charge, so it doesn't matter much. The only people who know or care are liberal policy wonks who will vote for Obama anyhow.
But Hillary brings the identity politics women vote. I kid you not; there are a ton of dippy low-information liberal-leaning women voters who find her "inspirational".
Only Hillary makes sense, in my opinion.
Well, her or John McCain. McCain would probably guarantee an Obama re-election, but I'm quite sure this will never ever happen.

If Obama's plan is to reduce his white working class support to 0.007% but bump his Black Panther support from 99% to 99.7%, he's as crafty a wizard as I've always suspected.

Obama has to pick someone who would excite one of his key constituencies, so a Latino or someone who is openly gay (bonus if they've been in the military), etc.

Now his wife and aides fear the transplant came from a Republican because the Vice President has been heard yelling at the TV about tax cuts and scrapping Medicare. Even agreeing with Paul Ryan.

The thing you're over-looking in arguing for it from their perspective, Ace, is suppose they join and lose. Then in 2016 are they still able to challenge Obama? Everyone says he'll try again. They'll be losers, and second-banana losers.
I think you join the ticket if you're interested in saving it. And that's another thing against its happening: suppose Obama asks HRC, and she says no. It's like a marriage proposal; you do not want to ask unless you're certain of yes.
For helping Obama in 2012, it's as I keep saying, a no-brainer. But outside of that, it's complicated.

I think #1 Bill from Chappaqua has this part correct:
"Andi Cuomo is smart... he's looking to 2020 vs. Paul Ryan."
Hillary! looks like she can just taste being President ... but her record (no matter who's fault) at State is mediocre, and she looks ... old ... I think many big Ds want Hillary! out of the way. She may decide that now is NOT The Time ...
Then there's the current state of JEF's Campaign ...
Teh JEF is starting to screw up on the campaign trail, and say things that even the Loyal Press has to question (?!!?!!!11!!?!!?). It looks like another 30 days of this and The JEF will be Un-Electable.
Teh JEF's Campaignmeister, Axelturf, seems to be cracking, and rumor has it that when Valerie Jurassic enters the room, Axelturf hides ... for days.
Axelturf's butch retort to the heckler (some several weeks ago) of "You Can't Handle the Truth!!!11!" (but a bit more shrill) suggests that even if the rumor is fake, it's accurate.
Biden is channeling Jerry Lewis on bad acid, tracking in some Eau d' upset-St.Bernard-being-wormed ... no one can avoid the smell.

The problem with that theory is that Biden is only capable of holding at most seven items in his brain at one time, and one of them is how to find the Amtrak station in Delaware. And another is how to find the Amtrak station in D.C.
Sure, one of those slots might still be reserved for when he caught Obama and Kal Penn in the Lincoln bedroom, but that's like hitting on the progressive at the Belagio. It's unclear whether or not he would even remember having ever served as Vice President, especially if Obama puts him on a special "moon train" at NASA and just pipes Star Trek intro video through the "windows" until the imbecile expires with astronaut ice cream rolling down his chin.

You mean like when he admitted that there weren't really any "shovel-ready" projects for the porkulus after having made that phrase the centerpiece of the porkulus crime? Barky didn't care ... and no one else did, either. He has no compunction about reversing himself within 24 hours. Shit, he's done that in single sentences ... and yet he never suffered one bit because of it.
Everyone knows that he doesn't know what the hell he's doing. He knows it, too. He just wants to break everything in sight, though, and his supporters just want to see everything in sight broken.

Biden is here to stay. The Biden FAMILY - including his son - has been in the deep, pervasive Obama corruption from the start. Malkin's book documents it nicely. It's not just slow Joe they have to worry about. Do anything to piss off the Biden clan, and things are going to leak. His boy can make sure of that, as can his wife.
Now, if the entire Biden clan were to somehow die in a plane crash, I guess that would wrap things up nicely...

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Well meaning ignoramuses are killing this place. Fuck them and their good intentions. Spreading the franchise around willy nilly was the worst thing that ever happened in this nation. First it was any adult male who could make his mark, then the women. All down hill since, and if it were not for the continual advance of technology propping us up, the nation would have already fallen into poverty striken fragments.
We may not be able to get away with demonizing those cocksuckers, but the fact is that the 52% are the enemy, they are trying to rob us blind, and a large portion fo them are culturally depraved trash. We don't need to learn to understand them. We need to learn to manipulate them, and discourage their growth as a demographic.

So yeah I discovered that right before the the primary race in late 2007 when he wnet on the Orca show and sais, "er uh no way am I uh ready I just want to um ah uh get my name out there."
Yeah see even Choom knew he was an affirmative action hire.

Happiest day of my 40 years thus far will be seeing him fly off to "Whereverstan" and do "who cares".....
I hope he lives to be 300 so he can see my country recover and be fair to all not just "Choom's buddies"....

Good luck "manipulating" people you don't understand.
This is why I like Paul Ryan; he does understand them. And when you listen to him debate them, he usually starts by laying out what their common ground is, before he starts detailing where and why they're wrong.

I've got extended family members who support Barky. They're evil liars. And stupid. As is true with all Barky supporters. If they weren't evil they wouldn't be supporting the retard and if they tell you they think he's improved anything then you know they're liars. Lying is part of leftist ideology - it's at the base of it.

2. The reason a lot of R's stayed out of the running is everyone thought the economy would turn around by now. Now that it hasn't, the thinking is that it will definitely in the next term, even if socialist barry is reelected. So the party in power next term can expect to retain power for at least two terms. that is enough to tempt anyone into replacing slow joe.
(related - think of barry ever admitting to a shortcoming. the closest i can come up with is the "shovel ready" comment, which people think was pointing out his own error. But that was really a wise crack toward the advisors that told him the stimulus would create shovel ready jobs. He was publicly blaming others and ridiculing them for the advise they gave, and he followed.)

Wrong. In fact, it's the only effective response, since coddling evil liars and telling them that they're just misguided, but well-intentioned, besides being a lie, itself, doesn't do anything to change them. That is only helping them defend to themselves the evil and lying they do.
And whether or not these people are in your family has nothing to do with what the truth of the situation is. I don't care if they're in "your" family. This is not a personal debate. All of the leftards are in someone's family. I have a number in my family, and they are what they are.

As one of the most outspoken commentators on CNN, it is my duty to talk about the unpopular messages out there.
Why just the other day I talked to someone on the street that thought that there is not a single Obama voter anywhere in the land who believes that another four years of him will make this country better. Not a single one from coast to coast. No, what they believe is that he will make the country a worse place for those people that they hate. That he will have four more years to sink their ideas deeper in the earth, regardless of how many families go hungry and how many fathers kill themselves because they can no longer take care of their families. What they believe is that Obama will grant their group more special privileges and the rest of the country can go to hell
Posted by: Fareed at August 15, 2012 06:41 PM (sJTmU)
OK, here's a scenario:
Jay Carney announces (during Romney's acceptance speech at the GOP convention) that Biden is resigning for health reasons. Obama says he will announce his VP pick at the convention; the White House and leading Dems immediately leak that it's Hilary Clinton. No one confirms or denies this.
Billy Jeff gives a great convention keynote speech that barely mentions Obama. No one except Obama notices the omission.
Obama schedules a news conference the next day to announce his VP; thirty minutes beforehand, Hilary tells him she can't accept his offer. Bill and Hilary are seen later that night laughing like a couple of drunk high schoolers.

Don't let Hillary Clinton replace Joe Biden as Vice President.
Instead, have Joe Biden replace Michelle Obama as First Lady.
This would have the following advantages:
1) The position of First Lady would greatly benefit from Biden's charm and personable character.
2) It would give the campaign a fresh new direction -- one that could not have been anticipated even by the foresightful Romney campaign. Talk about getting inside the GOP OODA loop!
3) It would prove beyond doubt Obama's commitment to gay marriage.
4) Biden would be less "High Maintenance" than the current first lady. No embarrassing trips to Spain or Hawaii.
5) Biden, despite the occasional gaffe, generally does as he is told.
6) Obama would still benefit from Biden's expertise on foreign policy during nightly "Pillow talk".
7) The other um, "required duties" of this office are less odious than what Biden has had to put up with previously.
Biden for First Lady 2012!

"266I don't think he will dump Biden. There is a huge downside and questionable upside. If he dumps him he has to admit that either Biden went nuts since he became VP or he made a big mistake."
You know, before this thread I never really took the idea of dumping Biden seriously. But let's look at it. As far as anybody can figure, Biden was supposed to help out as the experienced one, with foreign policy creds. And maybe he was supposed to appeal to the middle class. Yeah, that sounds like a joke to you and me, but that's the way a Dem would see it.
This time 'round Obama's inexperience is less of an issue (although competence and work ethic are certainly on the table). Maybe this time they figure he needs someone else - someone to help him get over the finish line, plus they're looking to annoint a successor (they wouldn't seriously consider Biden for thay, would they?).
Hillary would energize Democrats, perhaps even more than we're seeing Ryan exciting Republicans. But what about the bad blood? Plus - as I said elsewhere - Hillary just looks bad. I mean literally bad. Is she sick, or does she just not give a crap any more?
Cuomo? Sure. I'm in NY, and am surprised - he seems more pragmatic than I expected. But he's very inexperienced. It seems early for him, just as it seemed for Christie and Rubio (and Palin, last time 'round).

There's another reason to dump Biden. It CHANGES THE SUBJECT.
We might as well start speculating on his replacement right now. Think identity politics. Double up on the race card? Or a woman - to throw some meat into the so-called "War on Women"? Or a dog! Let's not forget about the "War on Dogs!"
OTOH, #266 is right. If anything defines Obama above all else, it is his unmitigated narcissism. Perhaps the Messiah would feel that a change would be admitting to a mistake. It'd be nice if his NPD finally became his undoing.

Yes and no. They're very good at lying and ignoring inconvenient facts, but the do care a lot how much comes out about them . This is why they are so fanatical about hiding every last detail of both his history and his presidency. And Obama is thin-skinned and has no experience dealing with anything less that a 100% adoring press. If enough critical info comes out he can no longer maintain the facade he and others have worked decades to construct.

FDR - Wallace --> FDR - Truman. The latter, of course, won.
Obama - HRC is stronger than Obama - Biden. Doesn't mean it's going to happen, doesn't mean they'll win. But I prefer it stay Obama - Biden.

The problem with Hillary is that she's much smarter than Obama, and I have a feeling that Obama hates people smarter than he is. If he chose her as VP, I wonder if she wouldn't find a way to Vince Foster him. And I think he'd be thinking the same thing.
Hey, maybe he'd pick Bill Clinton to be his VP.
On the fifth hand, Joe makes Obama look really, really smart by comparison.

Yeah, that was my reaction as well. Palin and McCain (who's said the same thing) are poisoning the well for O'Barky. And for Hillary.

If I'm Hillary, and the JEF comes to me with an offer to replace Biden, I have to consider the four possible outcomes:
1. JEF keeps Biden, wins.
2. JEF keeps Biden, loses.
3. JEF replaces Biden, wins.
4. JEF replaces Biden, loses.
Obviously, scenario 3 is best: JEF wins, Hillary gets the credit, and she's the heir-apparent. Of course, the JEF will have thoroughly fucked up the economy by the time 2016 rolls around. On the other hand, by 2016 the Obamacare manacles will be firmly locked in place, and the electorate will have been thoroughly watered down with amnestied illegals, so she can count on the ever-increasing number of government/Democratic dependents voting to keep their bread and circuses.
And clearly, scenario 4 is the worst: JEF loses, and Hillary gets the blame. (You don't really expect the JEF to shoulder the blame himself, do you?)
Scenario 1 is neutral: Hillary gets her shot, because nobody considers Biden an heir-apparent. (The conventional wisdom is that Biden was selected to make up for the JEF's inadequacies; I think that the JEF couldn't bear to have a second-in-command who overshadowed him - and to find someone who didn't, he had to stoop awfully low.)
Scenario 2 is also neutral: Hillary will have a shot in 2016 because Romney/Ryan are going to have to clean up Obama's mess, and given how the world economy is going, things are still likely to be in the shitter. Not to mention that the MFM [spit] will be playing up every problem in the country, real and imagined, blaming R&R for every problem that Obama created. So she'll be able to play on the electorate's discontent: "Hillary! The One We Should Have Had!"
So, of the four scenarios, three reward staying off the ticket, or at least are neutral. The big question is whether her presence on the ticket would be enough to push the JEF over the top; and at best, that's open to debate.
Conclusion: if the JEF offers Hillary the VP slot, she says no.

Andrew Cuomo's been governor of NY for 2 years. He's signed the only legitimate gay marriage law in the US, and he's pissed off some unions by cutting some of their more outrageous deals. Admittedly, it would be fun to watch libs who claimed Palin wasn't qualified, arguing that Cuomo is, despite having no more experience. Other than that, he provides a negative example compared to Obama (he's made hard choices, Obama hasn't), is from a State and area that Obama already has locked up (or, if he doesn't, Obama's toast and the election is over), and I'll still take Ryan over Cuomo in a debate.
In short, there's nothign in it for Hilary, and Cuomo won't help Obama. Not going to lose any sleep over it.
