— LauraW Ah well, who needs money anyway, right?
Hey, know how I know Obama won? The dollar dropped.
Hey, know how I know Obama won? The line at Cabela's.
Hey, know how I know Obama won? All the Help Wanted signs disappeared.
I refuse to be deranged like the lefties were in 2004. Running crying to shrinks and getting a mental syndrome named after themselves. Ridiculous.
We're bigger than this. Our natures are far more hardy than that, we are far tougher than the other side and we will be back.
Hey, know how I know Obama won? Gasoline now costs 50 shell casings per gallon!

He can try his backdoor regulation via executive fiat tricks (like continuing to use the EPA to shut down gun ranges), but those are, at least, all potentially easily reversible later.
AR prices now, are probably as cheap as they've ever been, by the way. I think after 2008 all the makers tooled up to maximum, and there is still a glut of them around.

Reading at this morning's mass:
Do everything without grumbling or questioning,
that you may be blameless and innocent,
children of God without blemish
in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation,
among whom you shine like lights in the world,
as you hold on to the word of life,
so that my boast for the day of Christ may be
that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

No offense, but seriously folks - the GOP is the problem, nothing more. 2010 proved something taught in politics 101; that one must have something to run "for" against an incumbent. Merely being "against" isn't enough, and the GOP has long run out of ideas (other than "we aren't democrats).
The #'s and "excitement" numbers are not a conundrum, and are easily explained: those "against" the current admininstration were highly motivated themselves, and broadcast that fact, but they did nothing to bring anyone else to the booth. Give me something to vote for and I'll show up - and platitudes/couched threats @ the "future" are not an obvious reason.
Deal w/that truth.

Of course the part of NY I love got floated off its foundation by Sandy. I will find a way to resist. I will not submit. I will not give up my faith. I will overcome. I know I am not alone. How do you divorce your country?
There are two halves in this country, the half that works and the half that takes. It's time for the half that works to leave and start something new.
In 1861 this nation went to war with itself over the question of whether or not one man was entitled to the fruits of another man's labor. That question was supposedly decided, yet here we are today, 146 years later, asking the same question. Oddly enough, the same party that supported the entitlement then is the same party that supports the entitlement now.

Facing reality is not about coming unhinged. America has crossed the Rubicon and there is no going back. I expect 3 Supreme Court picks in the next 4 years and one of them will replace a conservative. The takers have finally out numbered the producers.

If you're worried about zombies, get a 12 gauge shotgun. Either a Remington 570 or a Mossberg 500 variant. Short 18.5" barrel is the preferred configuration for "defense".
If you want a handgun, and aren't experienced get any military style auto pistol in either 9mm luger or .45ACP and either a matching .22 pistol or a .22 conversion. Spend most of your time shooting the low recoil./cheap ammo .22, since that's how you'll develop most of your marksmanship skills.
Which exact gun is mostly a question of personal preference, and in the grand scheme of things really doesn't much matter. They're all more similar than different. What's most important is your skill in using it, and the only way to develop that is to shoot it. . .a lot.

I posted this on another thread very late last night, so apologies if you've already seen it.
Did everyone forget about the Mayan Calendar for Pete's sake? It 2012. It's the apocalypse, and Obama is one of the four horsemen.
Seriously, though, I've been thinking about this for some time now. For those of you not spiritually or biblically thinking, I apologize, but Obama represents the spirit of the world right now. Every cultural context point in our society, from the media to entertainment to educational institutions reinforces it. Why do so many people just conform to the liberal assumptions about the world? Because it is so pervasive, and most people just want to conform. They think they are being so hip and cool, and individual, but they aren't. They are just conforming to the spirit of the world. Someone up thread brought up a good point about Christian conservatives as they were once known no longer exist, because the mega churches have pretty much embraced the liberation theology and socialism. I know lots of Christians who voted for Obama. They hate abortion, but they love redistribution of wealth (caring for the poor and hungry) more. They don't even realize they are being used as useful idiots by the Marxists. They think they are righting the wrongs of the past. And the more they move away from the traditional codes of behavior as encouraged by all the external cultural cues of media and entertainment, the more they accept. A case in point is the way homosexuality is treated. No longer is it an act, it is an identity. Not only do we accept it, but every show on TV has a homosexual character. It's not enough to accept it, nor is it enough to embrace it, no, we must glorify it. This is the spirit of the world now. This is where we are. This is the world that elects such a Marxist posing as an empty suit. Because he is so cool. Because every cultural clue encourages it. Because people desire to conform to the present spirit of the world.
This is why reaching out to minorities and the youth and white women will not work. These things that we understand and know are rejected by the spirit of the world. I know we have lots of atheists here, but the truth is, this is God's will. We are reaping the repercussons of being a perverse and lawless generation. And for my fellow Christians, I would just like to point out that all the Christians who thought or think they will not embrace the antiChrist, they need to look no further than what happened last night. There is no beter example of a person who embodies the spirit of the world, it is Obama and the Dems.

Too early for that, methinks. Seceding right after election results is being a sore loser with respect to the unspoken agreement of the election - we "flip a coin" and respect teh results.
It's one thing to react against actual unconscionable policy, but we do own a branch of gov't, so we're not completely shut out of the gov't.
Pre-emptive secession is going to be like the Civil War all over again, and you're going to have conservatives who will prefer to conserve the union rather than siding with the seceders. The numbers will be against those who try to leave, unless they have an Extremely Good Reason. (In any other case, you'll feed Obama a way to be a "uniter" like Lincoln)

Caedryn...if you were in premedical, you must be a smart cookie.
Take a Pell Grant, go to a community college, and look into nursing school. In two years you will have a good income. After a semester or two, with training, you can work in a hospital as a nurse's aide.
I am a RN. I taught at an community college. Two year RN's make about the same amount of money as those with a bachelor's degree (which I have). You take the same state boards of nursing. The only advantage for a bachelor's is some jobs require it. Once you have your Associate's degree, you can often get your bachelor's or masters through the hospital you work for. There will always be work for nurses.
My blessings and hope to you for a better future. Do not give up.

Yes. We will never change the electoral outcomes if we do not change hearts and minds back to this bedrock issue. You are responsible for your life and for your choices. As long as there is no incentive to be personally responsible, there will be no change in the outcome of any election.
I've looked at the exit polling, and all indicators point to the fact that the takers simply voted themselves continued handouts from the makers. Look at the income breakdowns and who voted for who. Simply put, if you made over 50k a year, you most likely voted for Romney. If you made under that, you voted for Obama. And if you were young, you wanted what the older generation worked for.
We will not win any election which requires hard choices with people who want nothing to do with hard choices.

Go back to school and finish your degree. Even though they're going to be grossly devalued, having a degree is better than not having a degree. It tells employers you're able to put up with shit to get the job done.

Several months ago, many conservatives went to Chick-Fil-A and supported them by reaching into their own wallets and purchasing Chick-Fil-A products.
I know, because I was one of them, and spent several hours in the Baltimore area restaurants observing the turnout, both for a sense of reason behind it, and the demographics of the supporters.
I had posted here yesterday that several of the Baltimore area Chick-Fil-A's were giving out a free chicken sandwich for anyone wearing an "I Voted" sticker. And, no additional purchase was required. Simple deal, sticker = free food. And as part of the anticipated results last night, the VIA family went to same said restaurant to pick up our $22.00 chicken platter, which we were paying, well... $22.00 for. Interesting thing to observe. Standing room only, as people were arriving in droves to get their free food...and nothing but the free sandwich. No soda, no waffle fries of intolerance. Just the free food. And the observed demographics when supporters were paying money to support the restaurant? Reversed last night.
And another..
Our neighborhood is predominantly made up of one racial demographic.
During Halloween evening, I set on the porch and hand out candy to the kids. 364 days of the year our street/sidewalk demographics are fairly stable. On Halloween, a marked change as we watch SUV's from out of the neighborhood pull up and discharge groups of children. And each and every one of them gets a piece of candy given freely. I just wish I would see them more often throughout the year, as many of the children are a genuine joy to talk to. Except for the one teenager, who upon asking if he could have two pieces was told "sure, but then your sister next to you doesn't get one". He took two, and laughed at her to her face.
She also pounded his ass at the end of the sidewalk, and took her piece back from him.
And of course, I denounce myself.

We need a plan.
First cancel any lib paper, block MSM on tv and comp., stop supporting those that advertise on their stations, if you can afford it get a subscription to BlazeTV, start your own e-mail letter (weekly or monthly) filling everyone in on the truth that isn't being reported, get involved in schools, local gov, etc.
Take this anger and disappointment and fight for your country.
How many of you gave time to make calls, go door to door, volunteered to watch the polls, go to churches, etc?
Call your local GOP and have them compare their strkie list numbers with those of your state's elec. numbers.
Start writing op ed filled with the truth, not opinions, etc
When need to educate the masses.
Start a 'true news' group at church, etc.

The fact that we are so evenly split at 50-50, as a nation, combined with the Biblical concept 'One will be taken and one will be left' leads me to believe the End Times with the 7th Imam are near.

I think the plan I will be embarking on is this: I think I will decrease my political life drastically, and work on the spiritual renewal side instead. I think the battle primarily is for hearts and minds. Until hearts change towards God, there is little that can be expected to change politically. It's just not going to happen. The principles that this country were founded upon, the ideas of the Constitution and the Declaration, that all men are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights to life, liberty, and property, are not going to make a comeback any other way. The founders themselves said that this Republic was only operable if the people had a moral foundation, and was totally unsuitable to a people that do not. We have seen the evidence that this is true.
Unless and until there is a spiritual renewal there will be no change for the better in this country. Look to any Western country in the world. Once they have left their faith behind, they have sunk into the despair of Socialism and never recovered. We are headed the same way.
Hearts and minds. The votes will take care of themselves.

Any republican who runs for office again and mentions the words Rape Life and God in the same sentence ever again, please shoot yourself or better yet just fucking die.
And republican or self proclaimed "principled" libertarian who didn't vote for Romney and complains about anything over the next four years, please choke on your own dick you dumb mother fucker, its your own fucking fault and I laugh at your insane level of self inflicted idiocy.

Your lives are worth much more to some of us than to watch these politicians throw them away on a country that a bunch of takers and moochers who are destroying from the inside while you try to protect her abroad.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces an even more awkward time with Washington and re-energized critics at home who accused him on Wednesday of backing the loser in the U.S. presidential election.
With Iran topping his conservative agenda, Netanyahu will have to contend with a strengthened second-term Democratic president after four years of frosty dealings with Barack Obama and a rift over how to curb Tehran's nuclear program.
Facing his own re-election battle in January, polls give Netanyahu little chance of losing but perceptions that he has mishandled Israel's main ally have been seized on by opponents.
Yeah, it's all Bibi's fault

I think you're right. All of those "Rights" don't mean anything if they're not Natural Rights. You can believe they're Natural Rights if you're an atheist, it's just much, much harder.
Even if you don't preach religion, however, what needs to happen is a Moral/Philosophical reawakening. Like I said, you can believe in Natural Rights if you don't believe in God- the case is just harder to make. That said, the case needs to be made.
The correct answer on Abortion: "Until we agree where life begins and what 'natural right' means, we can't even discuss Abortion."
The correct answer on Gay Marriage: "Until we agree on the origin of marriage, and whether or not it is a Right granted by nature, or a Privilege granted by Man, we can't even discuss 'traditional' Marriage, let alone same-sex marriage."

Never been a bumper-sticker kind of guy, but I hear Goo-Gone works miracles.
I was thinking about this a while back. I think what you do is not just "conservative businesses" but instead you allow people to add a business. Then anyone can rate it conservative or liberal (no middle maybe). When it gets more conservative votes than liberal ones, then yeah.
So a business owner says "List my business" and gives his business details, then people who have used the business can rate it?
That might work, but I don't normally talk to my mechanic (for instance) about Politics.

As for New Jersey and New York, they are dead to me and will not get a dime. I hope the Nor'easter crushes them, and I hope they whine to daddy government to take care of them.
Ohio and Pennsylvania are dead to me, too. They voted good jobs right out of their states. Again, I hope their daddy government takes good care of them. At least the coal is safely underground for when we elect a president who isn't trying to collapse the system.

The Tea Party Movement, like many fledgling movements, is learning.
Also, the Tea Party essentially volunteered and were told to pound sand.
We said, "Here we are, send us," and the Republican Politicians said "No. Then we won't get to go to the good parties anymore." So Tea Parties have had to nominate novices and neophytes, and, yes, they make mistakes.
But the fault does not lie with the Tea Parties, it lies with the Republican Party who those Tea Parties first chose to support.

The full quote adds a cautionary note at the end:
“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. They will not allow money to spent on making her home flood proof. Municipalities are having the same problem with replacing storm drains etc. Only money for same system. They are not allowed to make improvements which would be more flood proof. Thank you Christie and Obama for all those empty words about ending red tape.

No it does not. It makes you a loving father. I for one don't have children but I weep for those that do for they will have to bear the burden. I weep for all those who have given their lives for this country. I weep for those who have given their live for others so that they may have, if it's only a taste, freedom. I weep for those who grasp at the dangling carrot for they know not what they have done. Today I weep.

THIS too. Why is Karl Rove thought of as a genius, when his Hispandering and his tolerance of entitlement spending led to the GOP disaster of 2006, undoing the hard earned gains of 1994 and previous years?

"More than that, it was Rove's idea for Bush to let the MFM define everything for 8 years and never push back on it. That nearly lost him the election in '04 to what I will charitably describe as a novelty candidate, and it set up the MFM's ability to determine the '08 and '12 elections"
An accurate assessment lost (sadly) on many. The price for the total, reckless, and foolish abdication of the bully pulpit has barely been paid in the past two national elections. Allowing one's opponent to define one = already lost.

I don't have children either. I have some advice for those who do. Cut way back on all their extra-curricular activities that do not promote their future in academics. They need to do sports to learn teamwork, but, they really need to be strong in math and reading. I am taking a couple of graduate degree classes in Data Mining from Oklahoma State University. Those classes are 90% Eastern Indian and a few Chinese--all here on student visas. All they do is study, that is what they were trained to do. They dominate the classes. So the American kids who want to party and worry about the 'Pokes chances of beating the Sooners cannot compete.

Trying to understand what the fuck happened.
In my own little world, here's the numbers formy small precinct in south central Michigan:
2008 - 52.04% voter participation
2012 - 78.53% (67/31 for Romney)
For a predominantly black area nearby:
2008 - 31.45% voter participation
2012 - 31.91% (86/12 for Obama)
For a bible-thumping evangelical area nearby:
2008 - 48.29% voter participation
2012 - 74.37% (68/30 for Romney)
What is impossible to understand is the vote downticket. Our county went for Mitt 52%/46%. We went 56%/40% for the bible-thumping representative (R), but on the senate vote, it went 52%/44% for the democrat cow Stabenow. What the fuck?

I laid out my sob story in past threads, so here's some incredible unexpected news - old pal of mine from the Marines contacted me out of the blue today to tell me that his company is getting ready to hire a bunch of techs and he needs my resume so he can help me get hired. Job's based in Texas (never thought I'd say this, but....score!) and is almost double my current salary. Just when I was losing all hope I have a ray of sunshine.
Now, for the hard part - I haven't worked as a tech since leaving the Marines almost 7 years ago (did radar maintenance and repair). I remember Ohm's law and that's about it. Anyone have any pointers or ideas for a major refreshing of my skills/knowledge? I can't fuck this up, this could be my last shot at turning my family's fortunes around. My pal is reliable as a rock - if he thinks he can get me on board, he's not blowing smoke up my ass, so my concern is making sure I'm in a position to succeed in this job. I should be able to do it, as three guys I knew from active duty landed jobs with this company and have done very well. Just gotta buckle down and re-learn some stuff.

A nation's media can either be the bedrock of a free nation or the shills for tyrants. We know which one the MBM is
Until they're driven to irrelevance and/or bankruptcy, the voters will still be poorly informed
Boycott talk is silly as advertisers go where the viewers are. Destroy their credibility in the eyes of the public and they're finished
Bad shit is coming that the MBM won't be able to cover up or spin. Once the shit hits the fan, I believe that a lot of people are going to find out that the media they trusted has been lying to them

LauraW, I like the hell out of you!
The only thing that will be horrific for me in the near future is getting Obama memorabilia for Christmas from my MIL, who, if it weren't for my FIL would have starved years ago. She has had brain surgery, so biting my tongue at Christmas will be painful, especially after I've made the expensive delicacies she is no longer able to cook, but declares the holiday ruined if they are not present.
I'll be making Christmas gifts, and telling my husband "BUY NOTHING". Homemade for the relatives, which is better than some of the sanctimonious Obots deserve. A nephew with new twin infants and a house underwater that they can't afford to live in (they are in another state for work, and renting out what they can't afford to unload) said this morning that his kids "will be able to watch Big Bird!" It hasn't occurred to him that they could buy DVDs cheaper from that multimillion dollar conglomerate than they can afford to subsidize broadcasting in perpetuity.
I'll be teaching my daughter how to can, and in the spring the kids are going to help me dig up a bigger chunk of the yard to start growing more of our food.
The trees that suffered this year in the drought then the hurricane will be replaced with fruit and nuts.
My son (who swears he will NEVER vote when he is old enough) is going to learn a skilled trade--someday in the future, he will have the best hut in Hooverville as a result!

So if there's one thing I take solace in, it's that there's no way we're completely gone as a nation.
Consider the D+6 (or 7) electorate last night, yet the republican Congress. How do you square that circle?
Easily, Cult of personality. Bamables cult of persona called out voters who were more than happy (brainwashed) to pull the level for him and all his glory. But that didn't translate to actual votes down ticket (otherwise I suspect we'd have a more democratic congress.)
The alternative explaination is the typical appeals to the EVIL GERRYMANDERING, but I'm not sure that's case here. Other numbers (youth voter turn out, etc.) point to a similar trend. This was a cult of personna win for the democrats. I'm at least confident they can't pull that off with Joe Biden at the help (and let's see them run Hillary after the SCOAMF's foreign policy pulls her under.)

"So: are enough people stupid enough to believe in a "war on women" fabricated initially by George Stephanopolweenie of all people"
Yes, but they're not stupid. Face reality: the vast majority of folks pay attention to elections at most a few weeks out - nothing more - and to the basic information. The idiotic "rape" and similar comments were a golden gift to the other side, and they played it 24/7.
I'll give two examples: my wife & SIL - both voted for Palin, but sat this one out. Talking to the SIL early this AM (she seemed very upset @ the result, as she told me she thought RR had it "sewn up"), and she said the abortion/contraception/WoW was on the radio every day as she drove to & from work - and she admitted that this concerned her, to the point that she sat this one out... I will guarantee she was not alone in this.

Eric Cantor is the next district over and for the first time ever, he had a dem opponent who got 41% of the vote. Cantor, much like Diane Frankenfeinstein, is too arrogant to even consider debating an opponent. This should be interesting in two years for Cantor -- if we still have elections.

Whew! I'm sure glad that the war on us Wimminz is over!!! Its abortion on demand time and the suckers that are the workers/producers get to pay for it! And if I choose to be a skank they can pay for my bc as well!
The obamacrats, free-shitters, and socialists have redefined women as Vagina's, with unimportant biologic support structures that vote. I really can't think of anything more sexist than that. It's mind boggling.....I can't even look at my 13 year old daughter without feeling guilty about what this country is doing to women.
It's said that once one becomes dependent on govt largesse, one becomes a slave to the hand that feeds them. That's rather obvious, I know....but what do women actually gain by supporting JEF? RvW was not going to be overturned. Romney was never going to steal away women's tampoons. For most women, BC is already very inexpensive, and readily available. There was nothing in Romney's platform that reduced women in any way, shape, or form.
Yet the other side of the political spectrum gleefully reduces women to their constituent parts...and they go along with it? There's got to be something in all this that I'm missing, because it just does not make sense to me.

The Ohm's law thing is a bit of an exaggeration. I remember basic concepts, can still read schematics, etc. Here's the thing though - the Marine Corps is very focused on training you to fix the system they're assigning you to. I learned how to troubleshoot the AN/TPN-22 and the AN/TPS-73, but I didn't necessarily learn WHY the things they were teaching me worked. You learn the steps but not the theory behind it. Some guys are natural techs and already understood that stuff or figured it out as they went. I was not - everything was brand new to me. Since I'd be working on medical devices instead of radar systems this time, I thought there could be some things I could learn that are more general in nature instead of tailored to a couple of very specific military radars.

381 I just got back from Vegas with the wife for my 40th. Honestly, I did not like it as I thought I would.
---------
I go to Vegas frequently. I also don't like it much.
Well, technically, I go through Vegas. It's just a pit stop I have to make because Honda decided tiny cars only need tiny fuel tanks, so I don't have the range to make it all the way to Utah without gassing up right about there.
The redesign of the Russel Road/I-15 interchange is a freakin' disaster, especially if you're going north. To get back onto I-15, you have to immediately cross two lanes of traffic, which allows you to get into a lane of I-15 that is making a popular exit and thus gated by the traffic light off the freeway on Tropicana. So while you're intently studying your rearview mirror searching for a traffic hole large enough to get you the fuck out of the right lane, the car right in front of you suddenly stops because the traffic light on Tropicana just turned red.
Can't speak the buffets or casinos. As far as I'm concerned, gambling is a tax on the stupid.

The deck is stacked against the idea of limited government and personal responsibility for the foreseeable future in this country as currently constructed. We will never be able to roll back the demographic changes that lead to our current makeup. As currently constructed, the USA will never elect another conservative POTUS, which means that inside 20 years, the SCOTUS will be a 9-0 PROGRESSIVE court. It's going to be ugly. Really fucking ugly.
I'm ready to move tomorrow to any State that's serious about secession.

For Christmas I am leaving town. I figure I could drive south into a nice red state and spend a few days walking along the beach. I cannot just not show up at Christmas because they would try to force me to come. I do not want to talk to them.
I am the oldest in my family and both parents are gone. I have always tried to keep family harmony, despite various lifestyle and religious differences. Two years ago I went to a Halloween party and although they KNOW my sister and I are Catholic converts, one of the relatives was dressed as a nun in mini-skirt and fishnet stockings while her partner was dressed as Jesus and kept making crude comments.
I should have known then. No respect for anyone except their own beliefs.

The polls in this election cycle diverged in a number of ways, but in one respect they were remarkably consistent: every poll I saw, including those that forecast an Obama victory, found that most people believed Mitt Romney would do a better job than Barack Obama on the economy. So with the economy the dominant issue in the campaign, why did that consensus not assure a Romney victory? Because a great many people live outside the real, competitive economy. Over 100 million receive means tested benefits from the federal government, many more from the states. And, of course, a great many more are public employees. To many millions of Americans, the economy is mostly an abstraction.
Depressing as hell but worth a read. http://tinyurl.com/auac3nl

The way to solve the young women voting for their vaginas dilemma:
Conservative men, shun them. let them commingle with their LGBT heros and metrosexual buddies. They will die out as a breed.
(But that will never happen because so many young men are desperate for pooter and once they get hooked on a snatch, it's hard to let it go, even if it belongs to a donk.)

your email broke my heart.¡¡
Please don¡¯t give up!¡¡ The lefties in this country have sure done a good job on the electorate, but it wasn¡¯t done overnight.¡¡ It will take time to get it back.¡¡
Can we get depressed and disillusioned?¡¡ Certainly.¡¡ This was a very tough blow to the gut.¡¡ We can surely allow ourselves to mourn for a while.¡¡ Nothing wrong with that.¡¡
The test of our resolve is, will we give up?¡¡ It¡¯s what this jerk and his cronies want.¡¡ Let¡¯s not give it to them.¡¡ We owe it to ourselves and our country not to.¡¡
I¡¯m trying to take my cue of how to proceed from what I know what Dad would be saying today, were he here.¡¡ "Fight the good fight."¡¡ "Don¡¯t let the Marxists win."¡¡
We¡¯ve been through tough times before.¡¡
Think of the Civil War, the Revolutionary War.¡¡ This country was torn into pieces, but we pulled it back together.¡¡
Imagine how sane people felt with FDR in office all those long 12 years.¡¡
This is a different kind of war ¨C one that is not so easily won.¡¡ Perserverance, dedication, education, and steel spines are what are required.¡¡ We have to outlast them.¡¡
For some reason God is testing all of us producers and believers in this country.¡¡ What He has in mind for us, we don¡¯t know, but we will make it!¡¡ We have to have faith.¡¡

The fight is not gone. After the disappointment wears off we'll still have to live under this JEF for 4 years. But I decided this morning that there are some things I can do other than moving to Canada. It's time myself and others on the right fought fire with fire. Starve them of their resources. STOP buying from companies that support Dems. STOP giving hollywood or the music industry money. STOP giving the fools at MSNBC and the rest of the MSM any concern. Don't click on their links.
I own a small business and don't have the luxury of going full Galt. But I can tell you flat out that I will never hire another lefty. (Not that I ever did, but there will be some questions asked befiore I hire. Not that I'll be hiring anytime soon in this economy)
Starve the govt. of resources to give to the dregs that they support. Take every aggressive write off you can. STOP buying union made products. Yep, you heard me. Fuck them. Use their own tactics against them. STOP trying to stay above the fray, speak out. Get in their face as the JEF said. I also decided that although I can't go full Galt. I am going to stop trying to grow my business and just hold the line. All they'll do is take more of it anyway and then I'll be forced to pay for everyone's healthcare anyway. Fuck it, it's not going to happen. The leeches who vote in people like Fauxahauntus, the JEF, Grayson etc. Can suck it. If you live in a blue state I am not sending any donations your way the next time some natural disaster hits. Your precious little govt. can do that. I'm tired of being nice to these people. They are destroying everything we've built. It's not time to lay down and die. It's time for a change in tactics.

Here's the breakdown from York County, in the disappointing state of VA (so sorry, everyone, we failed you):
2008 - D/13,700 R/19,833 (total 33,533)
2012 - D/13,165 R/20,182 (total 33,347)
So Romney gained 1.7% on McCain. Obama '12 lost 3.9% from Obama'08. Overall the York County 2012 vote was down -.5%, ALL of which came from BO's low turnout.

Frankly, the divide is between the SoCons and the FiCons- the Fiscal Conservatives (not all of them, but enough that they're real loud) claim that "SoCons are just Commies who believe in God!" (unfortunately, they have some evidence of that, thanks Huckster!), and Social Conservatives think that FiCons are antagonistic to Christianity (again- with some evidence).
That divide needs to be healed. Good Social Conservative Policy IS good Fiscal Conservative Policy. Both sides need to start seeing that, while their priorities my be different, they're both actually on the same side- or should be.

Every time, I swear, the anti social-con trolls come out of the woodwork with the same song and dance promising all these mythical votes if the Republican party simply cuts loose a third of its base; And builds a libertarian coalition that rejects the concept of protecting the rights of the innocent. I'm sorry, there is no practical, nor even theoretical model that allows an amoral society to simultaneously exist as a free society. But three things about the so called social wing of the Republican party.
1. Most of the country supports some restrictions on Abortion.
2. You can't kick people out of the party, they have to leave on their own accord.

(1) Turnout was high in certain states and in some key counties within the swing states but not others. Why did that occur?
(2) Independents broke for R/R but not by the margins projected in the national polls.
(3) OFA contacted disenchanted Democrats and made an effort to bring them back into the fold. They succeeded.
(4) Voter fraud

This is why I'm so shocked. The turnout at rallys for Mitt vs the turnout for obama, etc. obama getting 10 million less votes than 2008? I just don't get it. Everything pointed to a landslide. It just doesn't add up any way you look at it.
The votes were in the back of the car just in case the race got close and had to have a recount.

Puerto Rico draws up a state constitution, then Congress approves their application and TFG signs the bill admitting them to the Union.
There won't be much of a fight against it in Congress is my prediction, because both Mitt and TFG said they would support their application for statehood if the voters there approved it.
Which it appears they have.

If obama had lost, he would be a martyr. He would go down as the poor black dude that racist america tossed on his ass. Instead, he will now be recorded as the compete and utter fuckup that was in office during the collapse. Mitt is good, but you know damn well even he wouldn't have been able to stop the juggernaut thats coming..
This brings up something I noticed over the last 20-30 years or so that I have followed very closely. The dems are fucking scumbags, they have not only been gaming the system, but the timing as well. They play a well calculated game of leap frogging the blame and success. For example, policies that Reagan and the first Bush had in place, along with Newt's house paved the way for the economy that bill clinton enjoyed. However, during the last years of the first Bush presidency, the dems in congress raised capitol gains taxes and ground the economy down and created the 1989 recession. It wasn't too bad, but the ass sucking dems decided to blame Bush (don't they always), and it paved the way for clinton to get in.
Clinton gets in as the economy was already bouncing back, and it bounced back because Reagan has us strong enough to where it was just a blip, but the damage was done to bush the elder.. Anyway, while enjoying the fruits of the republicans before him, clinton was doing a lot of stupid shit. That stupid shit bore fruit when GWB took office. So once again you have the dems fucking things up JUST in time for a republican to deal with. Then while GWB was president, the dems took the hiouse in 2006, because they had the fucking balls to call his 5% unemployment numbers a "jobless recovery". The economy started to tank shortly after the dems took the house and bella pelosi became speaker, couple that with the scumbag dems propping up fanny mae and freddy mac which caused the collapse which they once again turned around and blamed on yet another Bush, and you now have that paving the way of obama
SO.. what you have is a constant cycle of dems causing trouble in the economy while in power, either in the white house or congress, then blaming the repubs who then have to deal with it when they get in, which paves the way for yet another democrat who will take credit for recoveries started by the republican policies before them. Its been a constant cycle of them creating a wave of doom, pointing fingers, and then riding and taking credit for a wave of recovery that they had nothing to do with.
The cycle HAS to stop. Obama needs to be HERE right at this time, right now. Because finally for the first time in 25 years the huge wave of disaster is gonna land right on the dem's fucking heads, and obama needs to drown in it, because its gonna be a big one. Had mitt won it would just repeat the cycle, and he would have been the patsy.
The other reason obama has to be here is that if he lost he would never be held accountable for Fast and furious, Libya, the apparent failure of FEMA during the east coast disaster, etc
In short, its gonna be fun watching that motherfucker burn.

If you make it a cultural war, you lose. It you forge an alliance between social cons and fiscal cons, you lose.
Make it an alliance promoting individual freedom and liberty, and truly and fully embrace constitutional constructivism (The Founders said what they meant, and meant what they said) you win.
When you inject social conservatism into politics, you end up with a war on drugs (how’s that workin’ out for ya?) and then complain about how many people are in prisons around the nation. ..and then complain about out of control judges and prosecutors. You end up with a war on lifestyles that you don’t, personally like or approve of. iow, you try to choose how – and where – others will live, talk, dress and even where and when they work.
You end up with a foreign policy that embraces and promotes the invasion of other nations, for their own good and because it’s the right thing to do, you understand. …then, you wonder why so many other nations hate and fear us and our so-called ‘freedom.’ You then, also, wonder why so-called libertarians, and no few independents, refuse to support or join your party. You alienate half of America and… wonder why you keep losing the big elections and the big policy decisions.
Fiscal cons are just as bad, in their own way. They seek ways to balance the budgetÂ…but seldom discuss the detailsÂ…or even discuss where to slash the budget to sustainable levels. When you start slashing the budget, many, if not most of your favorite government programs go the way of the dinosaur, including the 501(c)3 status for your local churches. You donÂ’t discuss that. You want to take it all out of the other guyÂ’s pocketbook while maintaining government cash flow for your own projects and liberty-reducing, big government policies.
These are just a few of the odds and sods of irrational behavior you embrace and support...and you think that no one else can see through the fascade? ...and you while away the hours - and opporunties - by spending your time in echo chambers, trash talking many of the very people who woulkd and could support many of yourr objectives? ...but you can't understand why you keep losing the big elections or the big policy battles? It can't be your fault, after all! It must be all of those losers who are feeding at the public trough! The welfare moms, the food stamp nation, and the unions and the...elders on social security. Yeah...that's it. It can't be you, after all...can it? Everone else is wrong! ...so if you're so smart, why do you keep losing?
You want individual freedom and liberty? A return to The Constitution? Smaller government? Then embrace The Constitution. Fully, in all of its aspects, and not just the parts that you like. They said what they meant and meant what they saidÂ…or else itÂ’s just another god-damned piece of paper. ...or were they two-faced ignoramouses, too? 'Cause, you know, you simply can't be wrong - 'cause that's what you keep sayin', anyway.
Embrace that responsibility and accountability you go on about all the time. Admit it when you're wrong...or shut up about how holy and righteous your ideology is above all others, including that of the Founders of this nation.
The worst lie you tell is the one you tell yourselves.
...and if you're so damned civil, stop attacking other Americans and treat them like you want to be treated. In fact, treat them better than you want to be treated.

Romney lost because we've become a nation of leeches. Somewhere along the way, we've decided that it's okay to take what's not ours. Maybe it's a byproduct of teaching children for 30+ years that there are no losers and that everyone gets a trophy. Maybe when people are more concerned about reality TV than reality, we blindly follow whoever is promising to give us the most stuff. We spend more $ per capita on education than almost any other nation, yet produce innumerable dummies. What is the last history or economics book that the average voter read?
I read a quote this past weekend by an Israeli academic that said something like, "Free countries that strive for liberty, achieve equality. Free countries that strive for equality, achieve neither." I believe this to be the difference between the American and French Revolutions, and the main difference between conservatism and liberalism.
The concept of America is done. It was a good run I guess. 236 years but it's now over. We've traded our freedom and liberty for what? Promises? I suggested to my girlfriend that we move to another country and she is all for it. This country left me. I feel anger and rage right now. Disappointment is too mild. I should feel terrible thinking this but I want America's inevitable destruction to be quick so the 50% that voted for him can see the consequence of their actions. Not that they would take responsibility.
Of everyone that was invited to our house for thanksgiving this year, only those that voted for Romney are now welcome. I will explain to everyone else that they've taken enough from me and that I have to draw the line somewhere. If that means just my girlfriend and I, I say good. I'd rather they starve to death than take a morsel of food out of my garbage. I can no longer be friends with liberals. I can not associate with people who believe it's ok to continue taking from me. In <30 years we've gone from Reaganism to collectivism. We failed because selfishness is no longer a vice.

Yeah the failure of your predictions was not your model persay, it was that no one saw this as a repeat of 2010. You rated that your least likely model, and the various other polls (Ras Party ID for example) supported that (as well as the tigher LV screens and enthusiasm polling.)

I agree with this one, I felt up to probably June or July the dems had votes but no momentum. Within a month if felt like they had completely turned that around. Next thing you know everyone on facebook is chanting Forward! Every political ad I saw was for Obama, Clinton was on my TV for a solid month talking about Obama. I was actually shocked how many Obama fans suddenly came out of the woodwork. And I shit you not I saw this from one of my Obot friends. In front of Libs he was talking about how great Obama was and then he would turn around with his conservative friends and be like "I don't know who I will vote for, it's not like it will matter were in a really bad spot either way" Their ability to form a phantom majority, disenchant their opponents, and then have people go along with Obama anyways is astounding!

This. Sadly.
All this election did was to prove that the appeal of Free Shit is too strong to overcome. Even amongst voters who consider themselves "conservative".
We didn't lose in 2012. The ideological war started int he late 30's, and by the 1970's, we lost. All we're trying to do (and despite the lamentations from the Purity Brigade), all we can do is put our fingers in the dam till it finally breaks.

Three million people who voted for John McCain in 2008 did not vote for Romney
That's 13 million votes. If Romney had pulled in 2 million plus from that pool, we'd be bitching about holding President-elect Romney's feet to the fire. The Dems didn't flip ANY McCain states. Obama lost the support of 10 million voters. The idea that the electorate is at fault is specious.
The GOP simply chose the worst possible candidate for the 2012 election.

The war is here and has been since Bosnia. We have been conceding ground to Islam since then. Sharia law is next up for us here in America. If you work in corporate America, it is already here in the form of DIVERSITY rammed down your throat. And with a 9-0 Supreme Court led by Roberts for the Liberals, you will be living under blasphemy laws.

Umm. I don't know what demographics you are looking at. But no you lose.
A sizable majority supports drugs being illegal.
BTW Telling states they may not make a law which prevents a mother from killing her unborn children is NOT constitutional constructivism. I'm not really sure how you square that circle.
But no worries RON PAUL! will lead us to victory next time with all these votes that will come out of the woodwork in support of his platform despite being barely able to clear 10% of the primary vote while Obama ran his primary unopposed.

Actually, Rep. West had a better chance due to changing districts. Also, a post on his Facebook page says that there are still absentees and provisionals to be counted and that there were reports of "disturbing irregularities" last night. He is demanding a full hand recount in the county in which the aforementioned occurred.

This election brought forward a few lessons:
a) It's all about race now. I'd be very surprised to see a white male nominee from either party for the foreseeable future.
b) The old-line media won. It was a defensive victory, but over the past three years media omerta has more or less held - they kept from the low-information public a plethora of scandals no previous administration could have survived.
c) Issues didn't matter a damn bit, it was all personalities and the more negative the campaign the better. It'll be interesting to see what lessons the PACs take from this. It may be that you've got to identify the potential opponents early and hit them preemptively - start working on soiling their public image long before they're even running.

I think it's obvious that we chose a bad candidate - we lost. A better candidate would have done the things necessary to win - he didn't. We can't blame outside circumstances or forces for our own loss. The candidate owns the loss. No excuses.
I liked Romney, but he's a CEO. Certainly, that's what America needs right now - someone that understands real economics. But, CEO's don't necessarily understand how to win elections. I think that's obvious today.

It's not the next 4 years for me either (though no picnic). It's that I don't see how 2016 is going to be any better.
Apparently it's going to have to get a lot worse before it gets better, and more people need to feel more pain before they wake up. So, the sooner the better for the oncoming collapse, civil war, world war or whatever is coming. Prevention failed.
I hope I'm wrong and just shell shocked now.

I don't know where Ron Paul comes into this, but if national candidates addressed big-picture concerns such as individual freedom and personal accountability, stressing the differences between ourselves and the socialist weasels we're confronting, then we'd have a shot at transcending the interest group tribalism the Democrats have embraced and achieving a more universal appeal. That isn't a Libertarian stance. The Libertarian stance entails legal weed and Illuminati Jewish Banker conspiracies involving fluridated water mind control and spider-goat hybridization experiments.

Its pretty hard to convince people that giving up their free shit is best for them when the media props up and carrys water for the guys giving out the free shit.
Electorate has changed. We are pretty much looking to the government to take care of us. I laugh at the civil war between so-cons and libertarians. Mitt Romney was a pro-choice governor of a blue state that didn't mention social issues. If we don't accept that the electorate is about big government and make a plan to defeat that, we will be sitting here in 4 more years jerking each other off again.
We need to conservative influence in schools and in the media. If we educate people and get fair representation in the media, maybe our ideas could compete.

One of the states to flip Red in 2012 was NC. Mitt won the state with 50.3%. Pat McCrory, the Republican nominee for the governorship, won by a 55% landslide. Considering the political registration numbers, McCrory had tremendous support from Demcratic crossover voters. Romney's problem in NC is that conservative Dems felt they had nothing in common with Mitt Romney (the religious difference, I think, mattered very little). The lack of voter identification with Romney among working people made it easy for the Obama campaign and its allies in the MSM to make this an election based on personalities and character rather than as a referendum on the economy.

a) They got Jerry's tax increase passed
b) They shot down the initiative to muzzle union political spending
c) And, most ominously: way-back-when Prop 13 codified a supermajority requirement for tax-related measures. Well, for the first time the Dems now hold a supermajority in both houses of the legislature. It is now purely a one-party state.

1. Massive vote fraud in favor of Democrats in OH my state and others. Fuck you you dirty greedy people.
2. "Obamaphone!" Fuck you, you fat stupid reincarnation of the poor of Ancient Rome.
3. Chris Christie. Fuck you for giving Obummer free support with a week to go before poll time.
4. Libertarians. Fuck you for not wanting to help ethical Christian conservatives roll back the-State-is-God Obummer politics so you can have your abortions and legal pot.
5. Everybody who voted for McCain and didn't vote this year. Fuck you twice, for shirking your duty as a responsible citizen.
6. The so-called Fourth Estate, which made sure that Benghazi, Fast & Furious, Obamacare, the GM bailout, and Solyndra plus friends never got the continuous loud coverage that a Republican president would have received. FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU.

I'm done begging the State for something we're NEVER going to get.
I'm through paying taxes into their corrupt system.
I don't even want to use the paper they call US currency anymore. That's how tainted it all is to me. I am actually to the point of being DISGUSTED by handling US currency.
It's all bullshit. Did you know that the US government isn't even selling debt to China anymore? Not even China will buy it. Do you know who bought 75% of the latest round of currency expansion? The Federal Reserve.
Where did the Federal Reserve get the money to buy that debt?
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
They made it up. It's not money. They just wrote down a number on a piece of paper and "purchased" a non-existent fiction that they call "US governmental debt" with it.
Less than half the electorate, apparently, knows what that "debt" actually represents. What money is the US government planning to use to pay that debt back? The US government engages in no productivity, and thus has no real income to speak of. Where does it get the money to pay its bills?
From you.
It's YOUR productivity.
Your labor.
Your time.
Your children's lives. It's THEIR blood, sweat, tears, energy, efforts and skills.
Get it? Obama has purported to sell ALL OF US into DEBT SLAVERY.
I'm finished. I'm not a slave. My son is not a slave.
I'm through trying to explain these basic concepts to corrupt, craven, disgusting parasites -- the brain-dead "people" we politely refer to by euphemistic labels like "Public Sector Unions" or "the US Auto Industry Bailout Recipients."
They're no better than liquor store hold-up scumbags.
Here's my plan -- fuck them.
They can cannibalize each other for all I care. They can take their Rust Belt Socialism and Left Coast Feel-Good bullshit and feed it to their kids once the cupboard is bare.
Which it will be, soon.
They won't get any more from me.
I have to assume that as soon as the first "crisis" occurs, there will be a massive effort to pull the plug on websites like this one. To brand anyone opposed to more socialism as a traitor. To crack down on unpaid taxes with real prison time.
It seems far-fetched now, but what happens if (when) some crackpot schizophrenic like Loughner or that Batman movie guy actually blows up a building? Or assassinates a high-level Democrat?
Do you think the Left's attitude toward free enterprise is going to get better? More tolerant? Less authoritarian? Do you think they will hesitate to blame "conservatives" for whatever happens, and blame our scarrrrrrrry views about limited government? How much evidence will they need when the media will run with any story the government wants them to tell?
This election was it for me. It's the canary in the coalmine.
So I'm preparing to leave. Maybe I won't actually relocate until next year, maybe the year after that. But I'm not staying around waiting for what, in the best case scenario, is to be treated as a tax slave, and at worst as a public menace.
I'll be spending all of my waking hours building as much portable, transferable and secret-able wealth as I possibly can, sticking it to Obama's tax collectors, and planning to be somewhere else with all of it on 24-hours' notice.
I suggest you all do the same.

Agree. If Romney couldn't win, no one with an R by their name could have won yesterday. Not Ronald Reagan or Jesus himself.
The media is our #1 threat. We have to find a way to eliminate or neutralize that threat. Until we do that any national R candidate will be smeared beyond recognition.

The same "forces" were there in 1968, 1972 (and Watergate, for that matter), 1976, 1992, 1996 (Waco? Randy Weaver?), 2000, 2004, and 2008. The names change, but the old arguments are still here. In an earlier thread, a Moron mentioned that entitlement reform was up front and center in this election and Romney still lost by "only" 2% points. I think that point is a harbinger for a conservative resurgence. This election was winnable. A better candidate for these times would have won.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too, that it's going to have to get a lot worse, scorched earth, before rebuilding can happen. If I'm lucky enough to see that happen in my lifetime, I'll be too old to enjoy it. I'm at the tail end of the baby boomers, so good chance Obamacare will take care of me before then. And by "take care", I mean death panel care not actual *health* care.
I need some major distractions today. Avoiding the blogs (except here) and especially TV, though God bless Fox, for the fleeting moments I had it on this morning they were trying to be cheerful. Going to work for awhile and try to get my mind off things.

The underground economy is already brisk. I've made a couple thousand bucks over the past few years doing odd bits of computer repair, plumbing and electrical work for neighbors on the side...and I'm not even trying to pimp that action, its just stuff I did as a favor to people who didn't have huge money to pay regular contractors.
The local Haitians in the hood have a pretty efficient grapevine for connecting skilz with needs. If I wanted to tap that network actively, I'd be busy 7x24 doing "stuff" for people that ain't got the skills. Even being a white guy, my rep as the dude with multi-faceted skills who won't con you is well established and respected.

"Couldn't agree more. We would leave but our Children and Grand Children, and 95 year old Mother in law all live here."
My situation is similar: hostage to 17 year old daughter & 90 year old mother. Time passes, children become adults, a generation passes away. We've been here nearly 120 years, it's past time to go....soon. Prepare: mentally, physically, spiritually. Exercise caution in word and deed in the near future. Stay safe! This is not hyperbole, things may get dangerous for those like us very soon. (or at least more dangerous than they are now).
I'm going to ride the road bike an extra 10-15 miles today, conditioning will become important: the best weapon is yourself. Say little, do much.
