— Geoff We've been punched in the gut before. I think this time it's a little more painful because we can't believe that half of America could possibly vote for a man whose policies have been so costly and so ineffective. It's like going to bed with your S.O. and waking up to a complete stranger...
...who happens to be punching you in the gut.
So I suppose there should be healing, yes? Some sort of Kubler-Ross five stage process to get through this?
Fortunately we at AoSHQ long ago perfected a 1-stage healing process which served us remarkably well through the 2006 and 2008 elections. In layman's terms, we skip right over the Denial/Anger/Bargaining/Depression/Acceptance malarkey and play to one of our major strengths:
So let me gift you this thread, and encourage you to express your appreciation for the insightful public, the supportive media, and the outstanding administration which have provided us with such a promising 4-year future.

But in terms of raw politics, Democrats vs. Republicans is like the Harlem Globetrotters vs. that team that's there just so the Globetrotters can win. The People's Cube has called it "the professional Left vs. the amateur Right", and that's the truth.
People, there is no reversing course on this one. Your fellow "citizens" have spoken, and they have said they want free stuff. This one ends up bloody.

Obama is fond of bragging about his "5 million jobs created" since January 2010 (the low point of employment). In a recent post at Innocent Bystanders I projected out that job creation rate to the end of his second term, to see where we'd be after 8 years of wondrous Obama leadership.
We weren't quite back to pre-recession levels.
And that's using his best performance numbers to date.

They are now reaping the political rewards of that. They have bought off the people with cash benefits, absolution for immoral behavior, and blaming others (like the rich) for personal failings. Conservatism is a better philosophy for a civil society but we are no longer a civil, moral people.
We tell people they must work hard and take responsibility for themselves, and great reward will follow. That is true but the liberals are offering them a shorter (false) path. Just vote for more goodies and avoid accountability for one's own life. It will all fail in the end but it works for quite some time.
Trying to find the perfect set of candidates won't matter going forward. The media will portray anyone we put forth as a greedy, uncaring bastard who is out of touch with the needs of the people. They already have the template ready, they just plug in the new names.
Huge areas of the country are lost to us, like California. No matter how ridiculous it gets, people keep electing Democrats. There is no accountability for failure because failure is always conveniently blamed on someone else. Capitalism, rich people, what have you. Obama has escaped responsibility for his failures as well.
Facts, figures, history, empirical evidence don't matter to these people. They don't even want to know any of that. They are culturally predisposed to prefer bigger and more intrusive government because they believe it will make their lives easier. More time for them to sit around. The cost in dollars and loss in freedom is of no concern.
The coming fiscal collapse may wake people up, who knows. Until then I think we are fucked.

With all due respect, TheRedBaron, that violently underestimates how strong the stupid is with these people. it's fucking bulletproof. Hell, it's goddamn H-bomb proof. They managed to blame Republicans when the GOP was basically out of power the first 2 years of Obama's term. Not to mention that everything that went wrong was Bush's fault to begin with anyways.

I just can't process this loss. The electorate went from D+7 in 2008 to D+6 in 2012? With 7.9% unemployment? How the fuck does that happen? How bad would unemployment have to be for it affect this bastard? 10%? 15%? I've read alot of you guys posting about how we should've done this or that differently or ran a more/less conservative candidate. Well I got news for you, if this bastard won with economic numbers like these, it wouldn't have mattered if Jesus of Nazareth had come down from on high and ran against him, we would've still lost.

Salve? What salve? This is an unmitigated disaster. Worst of all, it's not Romney's fault. Unlike '96 we can't blame the candidate and unlike '08 we can't blame the candidate and unfavorable conditions. We had a very good candidate. The best in years. With a great message. It wasn't the candidate, for once.
Bottom line, the country has changed. Crossed the Rubicon. The Takers have exceeded the Creators. They want our stuff. Period. And they mean to take it. Just like Europe. The signs were and are all around us, just look and see.
Why would coal country go blue in this economic environment? Because Detroit went and they got theirs. Now it's a free-for-all and everyone wants theirs. The coal unions will be, or at least hope to be, rewarded just like the UAW. They chose and Obama has them in the palm of his hand now. They're his votes now and he'll give them just enough to preserve them. How does honest, free-market capitalism counter that?
It's not like this was unforeseen. Conservatives have been abandoning the field of the purple states and have now ceded them without a fight, perhaps permanently. You can't move to red states en masse and cede the swing states yet still expect to win national elections.
We saw this coming -- read all the blogs over the past four years -- and still we let it happen. By saying F-it, move away. And no one spoke against it. It was actually encouraged. Voting with your feet and all that. To send a message. Well, the only vote that counts came tonight and guess what, winning Idaho by 70% instead of 60% while losing Ohio 50.5% to 49.5% is not sending a message, it's a total disaster. And the fundamentals of Ohio indicate it's heading further in that direction. If we can't take Ohio this year of all years we ain't ever gonna take it. We're toast. If not, please tell me how.
There is no salve. We lost the Big One. Everything changes now. The Takers rule supreme. They call the shots. You think not? Then you ain't seeing the landscape. You don't understand what just happened.
They say Obama has no mandate. But he does. Winning decisively like this is a mandate. Saying it ain't is just wishful thinking. Obama has a mandate. Just you watch and see. The polls against Obamacare mean absolutely zilch now. The only poll that counts just ratified it by a landslide. Tell me how it doesn't.
Our choices as conservatives are few, perhaps nonexistent. Fight on Benghazi and hope to obstruct for four years. Be what we insist we're not. The party of "no". What other choice do we have? We've got nothing else. Be real, and plan accordingly.

You're not thinking this through. Holder is going to be the head of the DoJ for another four years. Look at the damage he did to the governors' efforts this time. He'll be coming after them even harder now.
Plus, we're going to be getting, at least, two new SCOTUS judges, so there won't be any help from them. They'll just double down on what Holder and the dictator say.
I've been really thinking about this since I accepted our loss, and I don't see any way out except by separating ourselves from DC.

My sis asked me, a disabled vet, why I would even think of voting R when they would take away my benefits. I tried to explain - this was not about me, short term, but about the US, long term.
Speaking of which, When the crash happened, and they started talking stimulus, I thought uh-oh, Japan just did this shit, I sure hope they know to stop at just one, if they think they really have to do it.
Nope, Stim, son of stim, all to keep the State & Fed. workers employed at their usual/higher pay, while the rest of us lost either hours/pay/jobs over the last few years, so it was supposed to keep the virtuous cycle going; "We are saving the States, ergo the state workers, to prevent a cascade effect while the private sector sheds jobs. It will be OK when the economy bounces back." Only problem? The economy did not bounce back.
And since O "saved" GM, the State & Fed. workers, and unions, not to mention blanket amnesty, the rubes think if they re-elect O, he'll just write another check.

(a) 1%
(b) 2%
(c) 3%
(d) 4%
What are these numbers? They are, very roughly:
(a) 1%: The imagined current inflation rate. Food and fuel costs are about to go hugely higher thanks to supply/demand/policy, but magically, they aren't considered part of the inflation rate! Yet for some reason they both always have a dampening effect on the rest of the economy when they rise sharply. How silly of them.
(b) 2%: last quarter's annualized economic growth. Growth was weaker in the earlier quarters. Note that growth this year was weaker than that of the year before, and that year from the year before that. Draw the trend line. Obamanomics are not accelerating the economy. But rather decelerating it.
(c) 3%: Workforce growth. Note that when (c) is larger than (b), it means that per capita wealth and per capita incomes are going to be falling. They have done so for Obama's entire first term, pretty much. Don't expect this to change.
(d) 4%: the rate at which the debt to GDP ratio is rising per year. Our debt is at about 102% of GDP right now. That's explicit debt, not unfunded liabilities, of which there are many. 120% is the "point of no return" beyond which no nation has ever returned to independent solvency.
The only way that the next four years would be anything other than economically dire would be if there had been an abrupt change of policy course away from Obamanomics in all areas. That change option was considered and discarded by voters. They now will enjoy the full fruits of Obamanomic policy.

Thanks for all your hard work. Btw, your models showed that an '08 level of turnout compared to the Rs would result in a narrow O win.
It happened that way. Not your fault. Not our fault.
Fore more years."
I suspect my models were right, but I guessed wrong on the turnout. But then, so did everyone. I'll look at them again at some point, not for awhile though.
Time to move on and figure out how I can avoid listening to the SCOAMF for 4 more years.

We must get voter ID laws. This must be our mission over the next 4 years.

Good luck with that. Again, we still have Holder as the head of the DoJ. He'll thwart every effort to implement voter ID.
And unfortunately, by the time it gets to the SCOTUS, the dictator's justices will rule against any changes.

That I'm grieving many things. The future of America.
But one thing I don't know that anyone else has expressed.
I'm sad, I'm really sad, that America has tragically passed up on the opportunity of a ROMNEY/RYAN ticket.
IMO, the best Republican ticket in my lifetime. And maybe beyond that.
IMO, this is beyond a Republican or conservative ticket. This is about a very specific HISTORICAL OPPORTUNITY.
The USA passed on a Romney/ Ryan ticket-- when I'm hard pressed to think of ANYONE in the entire USA (who's politically viable) better suited for the present challenges and crises facing the USA/ White House than these two men, with their specific skills, sets of expertise and knowledge etc.
Seriously-- It's a fucking tragedy. I mean that. in the full sense of the word "tragedy".
God, god save us. Fuck. But IMO the USA's best chance for salvation-- a Romney/ Ryan ticket--
is gone.

THIS IS THE 2nd CYCLE IN A ROW WHERE GOP COMPLETELY IGNORED HISPANICS.
I am Hispanic. Conservative. GOP is a a bunch of fucktards. Hispanics will respond positively if you just try. Bush did it in 00/04 and almost got 45-50% of the Hispanic vote.
McCain and Romney completely ignored Hispanics... and well... low 20s%.
GET A FREAKING CLUE. Its NOT about immigration. Hispanics are traditional family (try calling a straight Hispanic gay without getting decked... hello.... "machismo"). Traditional family. Fiscal conservatives (spend no more than you make -- heck, many dont even have bank accounts which means... no credit cards, no debt... spend only the cash on them).
Until the GOP learns how to speak to Hispanics, this pain is only going to get worse!

Can't do it. It's just not a laughing matter to me anymore.
Oh, for Christ's sake.
When facing the existential threat of Nazism and imperial Japan, Americans laughed their asses off.
This ought to make you ashamed of yourself.
In The Longest Day, by Cornelius Ryan, a war correspondent hit Omaha Beach with the Rangers. They were under murderous machine-gun fire, most of it from MG42s that spat out 1500 rounds per minute.
The correspondent waded through seawater reddened with the blood of dead Americans and made his way to a steel hedgehog, the obstacle that looks like a giant jack made of girders. There were two American soldiers huddled behind it, their only protection from the streams of bullets that kicked up sand in their faces.
As the correspondent flung himself down beside these soldiers, he heard one say to the other, "I'm telling you for the last time: In this man's army the canteen is worn on the right hip!"
We survived the Great Depression; we survived FDR and his totally illegal big-government schemes and Supreme Court packing; and we survived World War II.
We'll survive one more term of Obama, and we should laugh all the way through it.

I struck my Colors the day that Obamacare passed. It was the day it became undeniable to me that the Untied States of America had ceased to exist in any form close to what is spelled out in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. We became a banana republic the night that Abomination was shoved up our collective asses.
Only my Gadston has flown since then.
I was REALLY looking forward to raising Old Glory to where it rightfully belongs tonight. I viewed the inevitable victory of Romny and Ryan as the sign that this nation was going to start back on a path to sanity.

Oh, absolutely. And I would never talk down Mitt. Romney-Ryan was a fantastic choice for America, and the presidential ticket I've been proudest to vote for. Yes, it wasn't enough, but 24 hours ago we weren't buying into the idea that Americans will only vote for a dole, or that our party is on the edge of extinction because we could lose the popular vote by fractions of a percentage point* to an incumbent.
*What if this was 2000 again, and we'd won OH/FL/CO by the narrowest of margins despite losing what looks like 49.9-49.0 popular vote? We'd be overjoyed, right? This wailing is just fun for trolls and irritating for anyone who is even-keeled.

No matter what this Marxist cockgobbler did, I figured the economy, propelled by self-interest, would of itself rebound massively, as it always had, and ensure the grinning gargoyle's second term, if only he secured the first unicorn-rainbow-fraud "victory".
Then, well, then we endured anemic GDP growth after year of anemic GDP growth. We saw sclerotic, ridiculous unemployment "gains", unworthy of the name. Maybe, I thought, there'd be a chance. Maybe the nation could see, first-hand, what this grasping greedy Marxist fuckknob was doing to the country, what his parasitic policies were doing to THEMSELVES.

Romney ran against an incumbent who had the national press openly rooting for him, covering up his crimes and blunders, and creating a caricature of Romney that didn't exist, yet Romney got within one percentage point of Obama.
To say that we're now a nation of worthless freeloaders is absurd.
The answer to why we lost is simple, as expressed in the exit polls: The majority of the country still blames Bush for our economic problems and thinks Obama deserves more time to "fix" them, and the majority of the country felt that Romney's policies would benefit "the rich" at the expense of everyone else.
These same people accused of being moochers also added to the Republican majority in the House and elected more Republican governors than at any time in history.
The Republicans couldn't overcome the narrative about their presidential candidate. That's all. Maybe no Republican could've.

You see the big picture, which is much more complicated. More Republican governors and strengthening the Republican majority in the House means that we're not embracing socialism.
Romney lost because he wasn't able to convince people that he was a better alternative. Most people don't know about Benghazi, or Fast and Furious, or how horrible Obamacare is.
That's why they stuck with Obama.

There was a damn good reason that only property owners got the vote under the vision of the Founding Fathers. People who have skin in the game vote VERY DIFFERENTLY that those sucking on the Government tit.
Take decades of schools deliberately dumbing down students and feeding them Socialist BULL SHIT and you end up with people voting that haven't the first fucking clue about how ANYTHING works. They are fed lies every Goddamn day from school and Media. Shit that wouldn't seem possible in a fucking Fairy Tale is bought without question by these sheeple and now the rest of us get to go down screaming with them.
Why do you think that so many people push the lie that we're a "democracy"? Democracy is 50%+1 deciding what the other 49.999999999% will do. This nation WAS a Constitutional Republic until the Left began chipping away at it long before I was born.
We now exist within the wreckage of that and I frankly see no hope of correcting it on the fly. It's going to have to be torn down to its foundation, the rotting timbers and rat infested walls that have been cobbled on removed and destroyed before anything resembling what this Nation started out as will every have a chance to be again.
I cringe at what the world will become as other powers rush in to fill the vacuum we leave.

It's a fucking TRAGEDY that the 2 men probably best suited to the herculean challenges-- and the very particular problems-- facing the United States of America at this particular moment in history--
Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan--
have been rejected, in favor of...
Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
I've actually thrown up tonight (and intellectually, I can't stop throwing up).
I fear this is one of those moments in history people will look back and think--

First, this isn't an enemy from outside wherein people of common beliefs unified to defeat "the other." The Other is us. We have an existential threat from within and it is those who would embrace socialism/Marxism and destroy that which made America. That threat isn't some imaginary, small faction to be sloughed off. It's approaching 50% of the nation in a nation wherein demographics have been swinging pretty strongly to amplify those already present and desirous of raiding someone else's coffers while diminishing their ability to self-support.

Wow, about the last person expressing hope and optimism I had on my list of commenters.
So, you're saying it's 'fix bayonets' before the charge, not after?
I'm optimistic because this was a mixed bag. Yes, Romney lost, but that was only because he couldn't overcome the summer-long campaign to kill him. It worked. The media helped by portraying him as a heartless, cold, bumbling, cartoon Republican.
I'm convinced that if every American knew what we all know about Obama and understood what we all know about the economy and foreign policy, Romney would've won by 70 percent.
The country rejected Romney, not conservativism. They didn't trust him, and they still blame Bush. They believed Obama when he said that he just needed more time.
We just elected more Republican governors than any time in our history. That doesn't gibe with the notion that we're all socialists now.

Right. I made that point over at HA while everyone was looking for razors and pens to write a note. This election demonstrates the value of slick packaging; we already knew the American people love them some anything that comes in a nice shiny box even if it's a polished turd and this is pretty much a literal affirmation of that. We just need someone who's telegenic, can articulate conservatism and sound intelligent as they do it, and we have one or two people like that in positions of power already. Second terms are always a letdown, the House gets to keep Jug Ears in check, and the Rubio for President campaign starts tomorrow. Those should be encouraging thoughts.

You can go back all the way to the French revolution, particularly the English's reaction to it, and find lots of evidence of that self-loathing impulse lurking in the heart of the Left.
Just read Hazlitt excoriating Wordsworth and Coleridge for no longer supporting the Revolution. (Yeah, sorry Hazlitt, the Terror had that effect on normal human beings.) It took a while to accomplish it, and I took a beating, but I divested myself from the last vestiges of any real estate holding in NY recently. The time to get out is now while you can still maybe salvage $.30 on a dollar.
NY will continue to shed population/business as the perma-recession grinds on, and collapsing tax bases drive tax rates ever high. They've been in that death spiral for a few years now. There is no politically attainable way out.

If everything we've ever believed in is now dead, why did the same voters strengthen the Republican House majority and elect thirty Republican governors? Can someone please answer that?
People voted to retain Obama out of ignorance. In less than two years they're going to be squealing like stuck pigs when everything they don't know about yet bites them in the ass.
Romney--as thoroughly as he was trashed by the Dems and the media--got within one percentage point of Obama.

Exactly. Ryan's not a dumbass so he would know how to handle the question if someone asked him about it.
So since this question seems to be one that traps dumbasses we should make a point to ask it of our candidates ourselves during primary season. Akin gets that question a couple months earlier before the primary and says what he says then as of right now Claire McCaskill would no longer be a senator. That is an appealing thought.

The House doesn't amount to fuck-all with Supreme Court appointments and a President that thinks 'checks and balances' and the constitution are overrated.
You're talking past the people who are trying to get you to see that what happened tonight was not an informed choice to embrace statism.
Everything you're saying is true, but the average schlub voter doesn't think about Supreme Court nominees. The average voter doesn't know that Obama is violating the Constitution at every turn.
Part of the blame has to lie with Republicans for not screaming it from the rooftops. The average voter is stupid and blind, not a newly minted socialist.
The job at hand is to get more information out and elect people who can defend themselves effectively against false charges. Romney let Obama define him. That was a fatal mistake.

2. ...such as, if we were feeling vindictive, punting and letting taxes go up? They clearly stayed with Obama because they didn't trust Romney. They didn't trust him because they thought he'd betray them to "the rich," and they bought the lie that Obama hasn't been given a long enough time to "fix" the economy.
This election does not tell us that most Americans are now socialist moochers. All it tells us is that Romney didn't make the sale because Obama successfully defined him as the boogeyman.
The two GOP rape-senators lost because Aiken imploded and Mourdock was the target of a smear campaign by an embittered Lugar AND the Democrats, and then he made his own dumb comment to finish himself off.
If anything, this election tells us that the American public is scared shitless and doesn't want to take any more chances, which is why they voted for the status quo.

America didn't go socialist, it went totalitarian. Someone like Obama becoming president was all the Soviets needed to win the cold war playing the long game they did.
There's gonna be a lot more of this executive "reinterpretation" of existing law these next 4 years.

Take care. I'm probably going to pull the plug on virtually all the political sites and say "fuck it".
***
I became politically "aware" after 9/11 and since 2008 have become pretty much a political/information junky. Tonight just has pounded the shit out me. It's all going to go straight to Hell at warp speed from now until at least 2014 and even if we manage to get some more "R's" elected I doubt it will amount to anything more than trying to stop a loaded freight train by putting your hand out the window and hoping the extra drag will help.
****
Ditto that. Game over. The USA had a great run but it's all down hill now and there is nothing to be done. The parasites have won. We'll be Greece before my fifth grader graduates high school.
Morons, it's been great fun but there is no point and so no upside. Time to do a little weeping for the future then, turn off the internet, start working out , buy gold, devise and implement a strategy to ride out what is coming.

Then I submit Sarah Palin. Most popular governor in the nation at the time. Female. Fought the system on both the Left and the Right (which was what made her popular). Self-supporting and self-made business woman. Mother. Charismatic. Military-loving patriot. Etc.
And she was more viciously attacked than any politician in my lifetime and, given the media complex, possibly the most attacked in American political history.
It doesn't matter who the "Right" selects. By definition, they are to be demonized as Emmanuel Goldstein reincarnate.

For those blaming Mitt, sorry but when you have media/hollywood in the corner of one party 24/7, it is tough to win on our side no matter who you are. I thought Mitt had a good campaign especially down the stretch.
I cant blame the media enough really. Anything our side says or does, if it is negative or can be twisted to be that way, the media runs with it. Hollywood runs with it. The fear tactics worked, because the media carried that message for the liberals.

No. By the end of the campaign Romney had erased the likeability advantage Obama had, despite the media painting Romney as a ruthless, cold-hearted predator.
The country NARROWLY rejected Romney because they didn't quite trust him. The voters liked Romney, but Obama's seeds of doubt about what he'd do made people stick with Obama.
Since most of us still blame Bush for the bad economy, most of us thought we need to give Obama more time.
Most of us are uninformed dolts but not socialists. This election wasn't a repudiation of American values. It was a repudiation of only a handful of individual politicians.

If everything we've ever believed in is now dead, why did the same voters strengthen the Republican House majority...
Posted by: Llarry
Because:
The "strengthen" is minor. Net +1 last I checked with a handful of races still out. Damned near at the level of random noise.
And
We just had a reapportionment, and with Republicans in control of more states, they were able to protect their seats and expose Democrats.
It's not the level of rejection of Romney and the RSCC suffered, but it's hardly a resounding vote of confidence.

Consumption without production is very appealing to a lot of folk. Trying to fight that is like trying to win a 100 yard dash when you're the only racer racing uphill and wearing ankle weights.
Problem is when the producers are constantly berated that they are not paying their fair share when they are the only ones paying any share, they'll stop trying so hard and stop investing when they take all of the downside risk and less and less of the upside reward.
Let's refer to SCOAMF as President Fluke as it was Sandy that helped get him in, and a fluke that it happened a week before the election.

It would've taken quite a few and spread over many states for this to be true.
This is a smear by the atheist media to drive wedges between republicans. without some manner of determining who stayed home and why, you could make up any reason for any group that you want and no one would be likely to prove otherwise.

Thanks very much. I just feel bad for the people who think this is the end of everything.
It's not. It's a big defeat, but in the legal world they make a distinction between premeditated first-degree murder and manslaughter.
The electorate didn't commit premeditated first-degree murder on America. What they did was the equivalent of what that mother did with her toddler at that zoo. She stood him on the handrail overlooking the pen of wild African dogs, and he fell in and was killed.
She made a stupid decision out of ignorance and carelessness. The end result was the death of the child, but everyone here sees the difference between her and Ottis Toole, the "man" who murdered Adam Walsh.
Right?

Puerto Rico has voted to pursue the path of statehood. Obama has already signed off on this and I would expect that the Republicans will also. Even though it will mean a further 2 democrat senators in the Senate the likelihood that part of it's admission will be the introduction of some sort of direct representation for DC.
This means that Democrats will have 4 extra votes in the Senate and the Republicans will never regain power in my lifetime and perhaps yours.
The final straw I think.

Ryan was a kick-ass choice from the get go, never a moment's doubt about his history, intentions or abilities.
Unlike 2008 when I voted for Sarah and there was that other guy on the ticket with her along for the ride, I had no qualms about either of the "R's".
As pointed out by many others on this thread, The Media, it its present form needs to be utterly destroyed. Annihilated, wiped from the face of the Earth. Its function is to be pain-in-the-ass to the Government, to probe, ask questions, get answers. Now it's nothing more than the wholly owned propaganda ministry of the Democrat/Socialist/Communist Party.

1. $1+ trillion annual deficit, which can't be pared back even though the GOP theoretically holds the purse strings in the house
2. Obamacare
3. 8 million additional people collecting disability for life creating a permanent, young Democratic voting base
4. Presinit who has demonstrated the willingness to work beyond the law, issue EO's to work around Constitutional checks and balances... and willing to penalize his enemies without fear of retribution from the Senate or:
5. A 4th estate that has become a 100% fifth column for the state
6. An all out attack on the producers of the country, which has driven new-business formations to the lowest absolute level in generations
7. An Iran with 4 additional years under its nuclear development program
8. An Islamist world ready to fully extinguish modern and free society

It's just too depressing.
But at some point, somewhere-- maybe at Ace of Spades, because this is probably one of the few political sites I might make an exception for in the days to come--
we have to come to terms with what Obamacare, entrenched as permanent law, means.
I don't know-- I don't think *anyone* in this country knows-- exactly what Obamacare entails.
This is one of the things my election night drunkenness is meant to numb out. But it's one of the things I care most about. At some point-- ideally on Ace of Spades-- I'd like as straightforward as possible (I know that's difficult with such a fucked-up monster of legislation) summary/ representation of what American healthcare, henceforth, will be tranformed into-- what American healthcare, my and my loved ones' healthcare, will be like.
A fundamental change. A change that will affect our experience in dealing with our own mortality.
Obamacare is a permanent fact of life, now. Is it not? Please let me (and Americans in generals) know what that will mean in the years and decades to come. My guess is many Obama voters will be educated very belatedly.

Obama has been methodically regulating the coal industry out of business. In another 4 years, it'll be pretty much dead...and along with that will come power rationing since no nuke plants are being built to take up the slack as old coal ones are forced to shutdown.
Towards the end of Obama's next 4 years, I'd expect power rationing in some areas.

I've seen and heard too many staunch conservatives disgusted by the fact that we ended up nominating Romney and too many independents/libertarians disgusted with the two-party system to relegate them to a small minority.

I don't believe they did. You have to ask, "Between Obama and Romney, who is actually, on record, a more direct threat to religious freedom?" Do you actually think Evangelicals would say, "Romney"?
I was raised Southern Baptist. (I'm now Agnostic.) Most of my extended family remains SB/Protestant. I think they'd be considered "Evangelicals." I can guarantee you that none of them voted for Obama (unless they lied and pulled the lever contrary to their public statements).
No, that's yet another media narrative to split the conservative base. Evangelicals are the conservative base (among other factions). I simply don't believe they are to blame for low voter turnout from the Right.

Fewer jobs, higher prices, rationed medical care. The usual Obama policy implications.
A lot of doctors will simply pack it in. The law even prohibits them from banding together into small groups like LLC's to reduce facilities expenses and spread malpractice liability.
Obamacare was designed to employ lawyers and insurance companies offering malpractice insurance. It was designed to bankrupt small independent medical provider groups, doctors in private practice.
The electronic record keeping provisions have already proven burdensome, and more expensive than old school paper ways.

Again, the same people who re-elected Obama strengthened the GOP majority in the House and elected the most GOP governors in history.
Romney lost by only one percentage point. He lost because his side wasn't prepared for the viciousness of the Democrats' assault.
All we need are people who can fight back effectively. We need people who can be as ruthless as the Democrats. John Bolton was able to reduce John F. Kerry to a sputtering wreck during Bolton's confirmation hearing for ambassador to the U.N. And Bolton did it quietly and without drama.
We'll win again. We did some winning tonight, in fact. We lost the big one, but our candidate nearly beat insurmountable odds. So it's a bit early to sound the death knell for America.
As for Obamacare, it's an entitlement that actually reduces your options. If Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security actually reduced all your options, they'd be repealed.
When Obamacare is in full bloom, let's see how long it lasts, especially when old people start getting denied treatment. That'll start happening in 2014. Let's just see how the elderly and their families like Obama then.

The admin will continue to blame Bush, the admin will continue to blame "Obstructionist Republicans" in the House, and the media will back them up, and most importantly - the electorate will buy it.

Exactly. "Burn the Witch" is alas an all too appropriate appellation for what we'll be facing in the years to come.
Obama has already promised us more narratives, stories, time spent away from the White House to "energize" the American people-- and in particular against Congress (who, according to Obama, are to be "held accountable").
Obama has promised us that the next four years will be MORE propagandastic, that his administration will pay MORE attention to the stories/ narratives purveyed by the MSM.
If you can imagine that, you can start to imagine the hell we're in for the next 4 years.

The tactics FAILED on the "obstructionist Republicans"! The electorate STRENGTHENED the GOP House majority!
All this election did was not give the reins of power to Mitt Romney. The reason for that was because the electorate didn't trust him. That's all.
There are serious ramifications to this choice, of course. But people weren't thinking about that. All they "knew" was that Romney may have brought back the bad old days of Bush, who most Americans still blame for everything.
Obama is now going to be unrestrained. We'll see how all these voters like him when he starts implementing the remainder of his agenda.

"As for Obamacare, it's an entitlement that actually reduces your options. If Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security actually reduced all your options, they'd be repealed."
They do reduce options, with net effect and with the reality that you only have the option to support them with your tax dollars.
"When Obamacare is in full bloom, let's see how long it lasts, especially when old people start getting denied treatment. That'll start happening in 2014. Let's just see how the elderly and their families like Obama then."

I truly do not understand this.
Were people voting split-ticket?
That implies they think they know what they are doing.
So, what are they doing?
They think they need to give Obama more time, because the mantra of the Democrats is that no president was ever given a worse hand than Obama, the poor dear.
They also worried that Romney would "raise taxes on the middle class and give tax breaks to millionaires," so they stayed with Obama.
They voted for the status quo, hoping that things will get better. They didn't want to take a chance on Mitt. That's all.

I don't blame Romney or Ryan for anything. Like I said: for me, they were the best Republican ticket I've ever experienced and had the privilege to vote for.
And IMO they put in as much of an effort into winning an election as is humanly possible.
The R/R campaign is one of the BEST campaigns I've ever witnessed.
I don't blame the Tea Party either: Tea Partiers were among the most stalwart voters in this election.
What went wrong or who's to "blame" (my own first suspect is FRAUD)... I think I'll avoid much of that conversation. Because I don't want to see us tearing ourselves apart.

#641 - Nonsense. We don't have to accept that their side can say anything and that "we have to be careful." What has being careful gotten us so far? It's time to call things as their are and put the pressure on those who have brought this about. First, the so called fourth estate - the press - which from the beginning was hell-bent on advancing this president's (and Progressives' before him) agenda of demonizing the individual, throwing guilt on the United States for being the wealth creating engine of the world, and trashing our Constitution to stablish a government by 1 individual's fiat.
No, we do not have to accept it. We have the RIGHT TO REMAIN VOCAL, and we need to exercise that right whenever possible, no matter what the cost to us personally.

I was born in 1961, arguably the apogee of American power. My childhood memories are of the space program and moon shots. Cast my first presidential vote for Reagan as a college sophomore. Came from a blue collar background, neither parent went to college. Got two degrees and graduated with a an education debt to first year starting salary ratio of about 1:5. Had a good economic run through the 80's, 90's, and oughts.
The America I live in as a 51 year old is unrecognizable to me from the one I grew to adulthood in. America has to thumb rides to space from the communists.
The America I die in as an 80+ year old? That place won't even be America.

But, really, Romney pulling SO MANY independents in those SAME polls didn't make a lick of difference?
They went into the election virtually tied, and the 'undecideds' didn't break for the challenger, as per usual?
We lost Florida? A state that was, basically, conceded to Romney a month ago? And North Carolina was CLOSE?
Early voting for the dems was way down... for reps it was way up.
The last few days of the campaign, Obama has looked desperate and scared, like he KNEW he was gonna lose... and Romney looked just the opposite.
Romney was drawing massive crowds in all of the swing states, and Obama was struggling to get a decent number of people to come to his rallies.
Mia Love had a MASSIVE lead right before the election and lost.

They don't know or give a damn about the current state of our nation. They're on the Democrat Plantation, bound not by iron chains but EBT cards, Welfare, Section 8 Housing and all the other giveaways that Democrats use to keep them voting "D". Add in the fact that 100% of their "news" comes from ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, local papers and what they hear from their friends and neighbors (i.e. echo chamber) and the ensnarement is complete.
These people don't know and don't care that there's a whole other world beyond their dysfunctional communities. Doesn't exist for them, only their immediate needs and wants are what matter and they've been catered to for multiple generations. Only when the Plantation system unravels to the point where the handouts stop will there be any sort of rebellion against their masters.

What programs have European nations dumped in their hour of economic distress? As far as I can tell, they riot a bit and the politicians throw them some more cheese. What difference would our leaving make? They'll just not have a military and still keep raiding those with wealth while doling out the cheese to the "middle class."
Their medical apparatus will continue. Ours will follow the same path. It is by design.

And how many of them have dumped their nationalized health care? Not thought about dumping it or complained about it but actually terminated it?
None, because they have a long history of living under authoritarianism; they're passive; they have cultural traditions of collectivism; and they're culturally unable to admit to mistakes or change course.
None of those cultural traits apply to the U.S.
It took us sixty years to get here. It'll take us a while to get out of it. There will be another Reagan. It wasn't Romney, but he or she may come after the second term of Obama.
The good news is our natural resources aren't going anywhere, and we can change our legislation. We haven't hit bottom yet, so we're still in denial.
We're almost there. Another four years of Obama will probably do the job.
Everybody's forgetting that despite the odds, Romney came within one percentage point of matching Obama. He almost made it. After four more years of Obama and two years of Obamacare, let's see what sort of mood the country is in.

Evangelicals, of which I am one, were on fire to vote. I live in that world. They were also praying daily over this election and knew what we were up against.
We are people of faith and know that the Lord will see us through this truly sad and awful time in the the history of this nation. And that we all will suffer, and greatly.
Post-mortems on the election are fine fodder for the internet but there is real work to be done, and now.

Barry didn't want to be re-elected. He wanted to retire and start that lucrative speaking tour, play golf, live in Hawaii. He and M are both unhappy campers this morning, as they cannot slink of, crying racism to their post-presidential life. That's my sweet thought, this morning.
We're brought closer to a place we hoped to avoid with Rmoney: chaos and destruction. We would have gotten there anyway, because of math, but we hoped for, as someone put it above, 'a softer landing'.
Buckle up kiddies. Maybe it is better this way. Full dose of toxin is needed, so we welcome the anti-toxin. We were just not ready, this time around.
People have gone thru worse than this. Chin-up. Sit back and watch the left destroy itself.

Akin (and the infinite amount of idiotic abortion/ RAPE material, later kindled by fucking clumsy-idiot Murdock).
NB I DON'T equate "Akin" with social conservatives in general. Social conservatives in general were likely an asset rather than deficit to the R/R campaign. (Though ugh the likes of Maggie Gallagher.)
But I think a lot of (stupidly susceptible) women felt bound to vote against a party that had Akins in it.
And that (plus gay marriage) ignited enough youth/ social "liberals" to seduce them into another content-free yet inspiring campaign.

I was part of OH's ground game for the last two months I went to all three major cities. I met quite a few AA that were voting R/R.
Our ground game was amzing.
Something is worng with the numbers. I saw the enthusiasm.
I saw the R/R signs in the inner city. I saw the AA walking into Victory centers to help out. Hell, I volunteered to walk with them (just in case they were plants).
Again, no way the #s are right.
Plus, where does the military vote stand? Did OH service men get to vote? I know they were late getting the ballots out.

The left offers bait and they hit it every time at the most inopportune moments like a catfish hit a shiny bit of tin foil.
You could get away with that prior to the Internet, cell phone video, YouTube, etc. Even as recently as the 1980's local goofs by a downticket player didn't have the national impact they do today.
The leftist media understands this far better than the socon politicians do. They gotta start realizing they're in Indian country the moment they walk out their front door in the morning. There is no such thing as a "safe" audience anymore, and ALL media is to be distrusted.
FYNQ needs to be the watchword. The only way to not lose the game is don't play the game.

Funny is when all the trolls are all over twitter claiming they will riot, if Romney wins.
Funny is when they are hopping around proud to show off their free phones.
Funny is when President Obama releases the most desperate political ad of all time, featuring Big Bird.
Not funny is when people actually go out and vote for him. I've heard calls that the right needs to "adapt" to the ever changing electorate in our country.
What are we supposed to do? Open the borders for all who want to come, despite the fact that we don't even have enough employment for our own citizens? We should ignore our deep-seeded religious beliefs on some of the core social issues in our country? We should hold the GOP primary on MTV, and have the youth decide which candidate is the "coolest"?
I don't see how a conservative, or at the very least, moderate decent Christian man (because I guess that makes you a square) will ever win again.

Despite all the fundamental failures of the past four years, a majority of the electorate voted for more of it. They'll just ask for single payer and as long as they think they're not paying for it, they'll be fine with it. They're not going to blame Obama or the Dems for it because the media won't let it happen.
I'm afraid you're wrong.
What you're not taking into account is that never before has the mainstream media hidden so much of a president's failings and crimes.
If the electorate had been as informed as the average Ace of Spades HQ reader, Romney would've won by forty percentage points. This election does not signify a major shift in Americans' values.
As for single payer, having lived in six countries with it, I can tell you that people WON'T be fine with waiting six weeks to have their broken arms set, even if they think they're not paying for it. They WON'T be fine with having treatment withheld from their parents. They WON'T be fine with not having emergency rooms or family doctors, even if it's "free."
Just wait. You'll see that I'm right.

Exactly. I live in Virginia. The evangelicals I know phonebanked and passed out lit and worked the polls. They were on fire for Mitt. TELL ME IF THIS MAKES SENSE:
POTUS VOTE TOTALS:
1996 – 94,683,948
2000 – 101,455,899 (+7%)
2004 – 121,069,054 (+19%)
2008 – 129,389,711 (+7%)
2012 – 115,562,372 (-11%) <<< WTF?
So after at least 7% voter growth every election since 1996, in 2012 we drop 11%!!!! Has anything like this ever happened before? If you look at voters as a % of population the drop is even more staggering.
And yet, polling stations had to remain open extra hours because of their sheer volume of voters?
*******************
If you look at normal voter growth (+7%), we should have had 138,446,990 voters in 2012.
So we underperformed just normal growth by 22,884,618!
What the hell happened to 22 million voters?

Then we're at the Y in the path and have chosen different philosophical routes. I believe America has finally tipped to an irreversible position. You don't. We simply don't and won't agree because we are interpreting our witnessed history differently.
We are more accepting of authoritarianism. Our liberties have been corroding for decades. Boiling frog syndrome. Our culture has changed. That is the war we lost and it takes generations to erode. An opportunistic tyranny (and Mark Levin would rightly say it all begins with soft tyranny) will exploit levers of power to ensure a culture doesn't change back... until very ugly civil strife and societal collapse.
Americans aren't all that different from other people though we keep believing we are. We had structures that were supposed to set us apart from other cultures (defined in the Constitution, of course) but we have seen the corruption and atrophy of those freedoms/rights and done not a thing about them. Ultimately, when they erode, we are as savage as everyone else; add in secular humanism and we get there even faster.
So nationalized medicine will be here until the collapse as it is everywhere it's been implemented.

We focus on the Senate in 2014. We look for strong candidates who can run good campaigns and have a decent shot at winning, and we support them. We don't fight the socon/ RINO battle. The problem with Akin, Mourdock, Angle, and O'Donnell is not that they are socons, it's that they are idiots.

Again, you're arguing against results. In the past, American values - as evidenced by precedent - would have yielded an easy Romney win. Clearly the values (strong economy, functional foreign policy) have changed.
Your argument also hinges on that really big and demonstrably delusional "IF" leading off that second paragraph. Rumors of the media's death have apparently been greatly exaggerated and the public buys off on what they say. This will continue.
The calls for single payer will be deafening. The MBM will lead the charge. The electorate will buy off on it. Obamacare is not going anywhere now.
You'll see that I'm right because I'm basing it on current evidence, not some idealized vision of what I think America should be. The electorate has changed.

momma, you're right and don't let anyone convince you otherwise. An Obama 2012 sign just got put up yesterday a couple doors down from my parents house in their nice upper-middle class suburb of Los Angeles, CA. Prime Obama Territory. Why do I mention? Because it was the first I've seen in this neighborhood this entire election season, when in 2008 the Obama yard signs were ubiquitous- several on their street alone.
I just saw my what I believe was the first Obama2012 bumper sticker on Ventura Blvd. in Encino a few days ago. Four years ago you'd see dozens everyday. In the past few months I've seen Romney/Ryan bumper stickers in this neighborhood which is just unthinkable in this area which has been represented by Left-Wing Henry Waxman types since forever.
The paid trolls can blame the Evangelicals, or the So Cons, or the racist anti-Dreamer Teabaggers all they want- or even the Jews- but no one will get me to doubt my own eyes.
I have too much first-hand experience with the overwhelming disillusionment that previous Obama voters feel towards him now. A dozen people just among immediate friends and family that voted enthusiastically for Obama in 2008 and either were not voting this time or were not sure about voting Obama and two who actually switched to vote Romney.
I saw clearly what was coming yesterday and what finally showed up wasn't it.
We've been had.

Two. Traveled through most of Central and a bit of South America. Not nearly enough to turn native but did get some flavor many years ago.
And a good number of Central and South Americans are now living, legally and not, in the United States. And they are Homo sapiens just as we are while importing their own heritage with the active promotion that they balkanize and not melt in our pot.
So blow that appeal to authority up your ass, too.

I mean it too. The path Obama is on is simply unsustainable. That which can't go on, won't.
Obama is our Gorbachev. I just hope our collapse/resurrection is as quick and clean as it was for the Soviet Union. They got the whole deal done and pretty much completed in under 20 years...which historically is very very fast.
Not being a command/control economy like the Soviets were, we got more economic entanglements that need to be unwound/repudiated though, and that may take longer before it all settles out.
The Soviets were more used to hardship than Americans are too. I expect more civil unrest here than the Soviets had

"Why do people keep saying that the demographics will be so hard to surmount?"
Because demographic data clearly suggests that Democrat constituent groups will increase in numbers significantly, while Republicans will decline.

Not close to a mandate for The One. But that never stopped the Leftists from claiming one.
This is a massive disappointment. We cannot surrender! If the Republican Party won't be reformed and strengthened, then we must do what we can elsewhere. Perhaps this is the time to look upon the Republican Party as the modern Whigs, and let it die. A new party? Push for the Republican Senate candidates, while invigorating a new Liberty-based party?
We gotta do sumpin'! 'Sides, any American political Party that could elect Alan Grayson to the US House, and re-elect Wasserman-Schultz, needs to be destroyed, root and branch!

No. I'm disputing the notion that this election is evidence of a sea change in the electorate.
You bolster my position by admitting that the electorate isn't informed.
That's my point. For some reason lots of people on this thread have concluded that because people are uniformed, it means that they've embraced statism and reject traditional American values. That conclusion isn't supported by the evidence.
The exit polling shows only that people still blame bush for the economy and think Obama needs more time to fix it. They also felt that Romney's policies would favor the rich, which they felt would be unfair in this time of economic turmoil.
They were wrong, but being wrong doesn't mean that they've embraced statism. It just means they're dolts.

The demographics weren't the problem in this election, because the GOP increased its seats in the House and won the largest number of governorships in history.
And Romney came within one percentage point of matching Obama.
How the hell did a corny Mormon manage that, especially since the entire media was carrying Obama's water?
You're greatly overstating the power of demographics.

Of course there's a difference! Stupid people can be taught. Ideologues can't.
Remember when Romney brought out the whiteboard? He only did that ONCE. There's something cultural about Republican politicians that prevents them from doing things differently. Everyone still remembers Perot's charts.
We lost this by ONE FUCKING PERCENTAGE POINT. Romney was within striking distance.
The country is not a lost cause. Not yet. It will be if everyone adopts your attitude and gives up.

I lay in bed this morning after a mostly sleepless night and watched my twin 4 year olds playing with their stuffed animals while they snuggled with me. I worry about what the future holds for them, and for us as a nation. I don't know that I worry more now than I did last night, or 6 months ago. The worries are the same worries.
Our next door neighbors are two lovely people and good friends. They are female, same-sex partners. We have been as close as two neighboring households could be over the four years we've lived next to each other. Cutting each others' grass, gardening together, shared holidays and dinners. My wife commutes to the same employer every morning with one of the women.
They both voted Obama because despite every other single issue, they were convinced that they would be possibly jailed for being gay, should Romney win. Both even said that in virtually every other way Obama deserved to lose their votes from 2008. But they voted the single issue of the gay thing.
The two men who represented our party both have nearly twenty years in public life in business and public office. Neither of them has any history whatsoever of even the mildest hostility to gays, let alone having ever pursued any kind of punitive public policies against gays. This is a matter of very public factual record.
We have lived day-to-day as conservatives next to these women. Romney and Ryan have clear records accessible to anyone who cares to look. Yet, despite their public records and our personal example, these two intelligent women still believed these crazy ideas about "secret plans" to hurt gays and voted accordingly.
I am personally very hurt that these two ladies, to whom we have shown nothing but love and friendship, would think so ill of those we would support despite our personal example every day of who we "really" are. Why would they think we would ever support someone who would want to hurt them?
What more can be done when people who are otherwise intelligent simply will not be persuaded? Who willfully refuse to be persuaded? Who will ignore objective data that even they, themselves, concede is true? Who ignore even multiple years of personal experience with the supporters of a candidate as to that candidate's character and intentions?
The Lord gives us only so much cross as we can bear. We have been blessed as a people for a long time in this country. We endured a terrible Civil War that cost over 600,000 lives. There are many very fine places to live in the world that are far more socialist than we are.
The world hasn't ended. America will go on and so must we. Teaching our kids what we believe to be the right way to live and trusting in the Lord to provide his grace.
I thank Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, and everyone on their team, for leaving it all on the field. Everything that could be done was.
My late father always said that the American people get what they deserve, for good or ill. We are still a sharply divided nation. Half of us want one thing and the other half want another thing. I have no idea how these mutually exclusive desires ever resolve.

And my point is that they aren't going to change. Meaning that they will remain dolts and that they will continue to fuck us all with their ignorance. Voting Republican locals is great and all, but when we're having a serious "debate" in the media about single payer in 2015, you come back here and tell me how the electorate hasn't changed.
Fiscal responsibility used to be a traditional American value. After last night, not anymore. And that's the only value that matters right now.

I'm interested in joining any kind of viable third party movement.

Here's another saying: "Beware what you wish for. You just might get it."
I have a feeling your vacuous neighbors and everybody else so thrilled by last night will be singing a different tune in a couple of years.
Oppression has a way of uniting people. When Obama starts killing the coal industry in earnest, the howls of protest from the swing states will be music to my ears.
Not out of Schadenfreude, but because it'll mean people are finally waking up and living with the consequences of their bad decisions.
Some things are inevitable. I created a permanent family rift by trying to prevent my nephew from enlisting in the army because he and his parents lied about his asthma and OCD. Both are automatic disqualifying conditions for service.
The recruiters promised me that they'd keep my information confidential, but they lied and told my sister what I'd said. She and her family no longer speak to me, and my nephew hates me now. On top of it all, the army accepted him into the Chemical Corps. Asthmatics have been known to die in the training, so he may not make it.
But this rift was inevitable, given my sister and brother-in-law's values. It had to happen sooner or later.
What we're seeing now in the country was inevitable, too, which is why I'm not as upset as some. But we can come back from it if we work really hard at it. And as I said, oppression and lack of opportunity tend to unite people.

You're wrong. Last night the electorate did vote--in it's ignorant, uninformed way--for fiscal responsibility.
They supported Obama because he promised them economic recovery, and he demonized Romney as a champion of the wealthy, who would give his buddies tax breaks while making up the resulting loss of revenue by raising taxes on the middle class.
That was the entire spiel of the Democrats. Obama was cast as the real fiscal conservative, remember? And Romney would bring back those awful, irresponsible Bush policies that got us into this mess in the first place.
We need better spokespeople, that's all. The electorate is open to fiscal responsibility. Last night's vote actually proved it, in an upside-down, perverse, Bizarro World way.

This won't last for long. And once we institute the German and French method of stabilizing the patient at the scene instead of immediately transporting them to the hospital, thus ensuring that more people die that get expensive treatments for accidents or heart disease, the lawyers will line up.
Litigation will increase a thousand fold, and the new government exchanges will be put out of business, because the litigation will offset the saving incurred by letting the patient die.
We won't stand for that for very long. And since Obama has obligingly embraced he name "Obamacare," he gets the blame.
He's not God. At some point there will be a real preference cascade and he'll be exposed.

But the GOP has yet to accept that. Once they do, they can devise a workaround.
While a defeat, this election brought Romney to within one percentage point of victory. In 2008 Obama beat McCain by seven points.
With a nominee who can explain our troubles, the solutions, and stay away from the rape-trap and the vagina-talk, we can still win.
But we also need nominees who will punch back twice as hard. Romney did it for a while, but I think he got worried that he would seem less presidential if he demolished Obama, so he held back. It cost him.

Show me your data. These detailed reports you've gathered to support the very specific allegation you've made that 18,500,000 Evangelicals stayed home last night.
Funny how no one mentioned this scenario as a serious liability for a prospective Romney candidacy during the nomination- which is when it would have been raised if it was thought to be a legitimate issue which could seriously damage him in the general election. Funny how Catholics turned out for the Mormon. Funny that it was never brought up at any time this summer and fall and how no one mentioned this during the non-stop on-air numbers crunching sessions over the last few days and weeks.
It only pops up for discussion now that you've raised it persistently this evening.

No, I will NOT vote for a Muslim. I think we all know enough about them that voting for one is tantamount to suicide. But voting for a Mormon, a Catholic, a Jew, or an Atheist, is not a problem. The campaigns are not about religious issues. We are not voting for a Church Council. We are voting for Government in the secular realm. That's all.
And that's how I vote.
