ABCNews Retracts Claim That George Zimmerman Wasn't Injured?
— Ace

If you remember, ABCNews ran a police-station surveillance video of the night George Zimmerman was brought in for questioning, right after the shooting. The video, they claimed, did not show injuries.

There were a couple of problems with this assertion. The first was that ABCNews threw a useless chyron over the most important image on the tape -- over George Zimmerman's head -- prompting the question: Why would you obscure what you claim is tell tale evidence?

For another thing, if you look at the tape without that chyron blocking your view, you can see something that looks like a gash on the back of his head.

Well, the Orlando Sentinel says ABCNews showed a new version of the tape and it appears that Zimmerman's head is in fact gashed, just as thought.

Reporter Matt Gutman said the clearer video shows "what appear to be a pair of gashes or welts on George Zimmerman's head."

Neighborhood Watch volunteer Zimmerman has said he shot 17-year-old Trayvon in self-defense. The video shows Zimmerman arriving at the Sanford Police Department within an hour after the shooting.

Gutman said the video had been "clarified" by Forensic Protection Inc. Former FBI Special Agent Brad Garrett told ABC that the clearer video shows "marks on the back of Mr. Zimmerman's head."

By the way, that's the same reporter who claimed there were no signs of injury on Zimmerman -- and aggressively attacked people who said otherwise on Twitter.

(Incidentally, he also Tweeted the headline: Bloggers Cherry-Pick From Social Media to Cast Trayvon Martin as a Menace. In other words, they plucked out the stuff that suggested criminality or bad behavior, and ignored stuff like "thank you for wishing me a happy birthday."

Um, you're saying we should report stuff like "thank you for wishing me a happy birthday"? That's cherry-picking?

Isn't that a very basic type of news judgment? Stuff that everyone says is not newsworthy. Atypical stuff is newsworthy. And in a case where the media has cast Trayvon Martin as a choirboy who, and this is the critical part, would never behave aggressively or start a fight, it is relevant that he seems to enjoyed pot and maybe some burglary too.)

And a neighbor (unnamed) says Zimmerman was bruised and bandaged the next day.

"I saw George. He was banged up. His head had two big bandages, that weren't flat, had a bump on them," the neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said.

He described where the injuries were.

"I seen him have a big bandage on his nose and his nose swollen. On the side, where his eyes were at, it was swollen," he said.

Just One Minute says the walkbacks are becoming a stampede.

The media cooks all these stories, and then acts arrogant and belligerent when we notice they're cooking these stories. That makes them angry.

You're calling me a LIAR?!!?!, screamed the guy who just lied to your face.

Meanwhile, CNN ignores a witness -- "John," a neighbor -- who says that Trayvon was on top of Zimmerman, and pushes a witness who says the opposite.

Sort of. Actually, this witness did not even see the scuffle, but only came over to see what was going on after the gunshot. At that point, she saw Zimmerman above Trayvon-- but how could it be otherwise? Trayvon was dead.

CNN claims that John is the "only witness" who supports Zimmerman's account. But this woman, Mary Cutcher, did not see the scuffle by her own testimony. She guesses it was Trayvon crying out, because the crying out ended with the gunshot-- but that's an inference, and it is easily explainable that Zimmerman might have been crying out but stopped when he pulled the trigger. After all, he just plugged a guy in the heart.

Why would he continue crying out? For help in moving the body?

Despite the fact that "John," who witnessed the whole scuffle, says that Trayvon was on top and Zimmerman was crying out for help, CNN has enlisted "experts" to analyze the 911 calls and they have determined conclusively tentatively that they cannot say Zimmerman was crying out.

Tom Maguire notes that voice-analysts own protocols call for them getting the suspected subject to speak the same lines as those on the tape being analyzed, with the same level of excitement. That is, if you're trying to see if a guy is the one who screamed "HELP ME" on tape, you ask him to scream "HELP ME" and then compare those samples.

They didn't have that hear at all -- the "experts" say "Sure, we'd like to have that, but in a pinch, we can just guestimate."

Rocket Science

Contrary to popular belief, even rocket science is not rocket science.

8 I really never get tired of pointing out they lie. It was an epiphany that I knew made me sound like a crack pot when speaking with people. Saying "the news lies to you, and no not just normal lies but ones that serve a political agenda" makes you sound like a psycho. It has to be done though, it has to be. Hard truth beats pretty little liberal lies any fucking day of the week.

10 Here's the thing- I'd kind of like not to be rooting for the guy who just killed an apparently unarmed teenager.  In my normal world-view "guy who killed unarmed teenager" is not supposed to be the sympathetic one.

So why is the MFM going to such lengths to make him the sympathetic actor in this little drama?  Did they expect we (the conservative blogosphere) would just accept their story at face value?

13 You also have to love the CBS story based on the funeral director saying Martin wasn't injured (other than being shot dead).

* An ethical funeral director wouldn't talk to the reporters.

* He especially wouldn't talk unless he had permission from the family, who also happen to be the ones paying him.

* It's irrelevant since Zimmerman doesn't claim he was beating up Martin, but the other way around.

* A coroner (who would not be employed by the family) is in a better position to evaluate Martin's injuries--despite the funeral director also usurping that role and saying Martin was killed by a gunshot. The funeral director only fills in the cause of death on the death certificate; he does not make any medical determination.

14 And the meme is that Zimmerman was released after a couple of minutes when in fact he was questioned by the cops for about 5 hours. Whatever happened, it certainly appears there is WAY more to the story than the "official" race-baiter, White House, Media Matters, MFM story. Somewhere, Breitbart is smiling.

I mean sure, this could all be some huge conspiracy to plug african American kids transporting soda an skittles and infringing on the local soda and skittles smuggling market, or it could be exactly what the cops, the medical personnel, the videos, zimmerman, and the local da say it is. naturally, given the bona fides of sharpton, jackson, the new black panthers, farrakhan, and zero as being dignified voices of reason and not critical race theorists and race mongers it is understandable why the press wants to take their word, but your responsibility as a REPORTER requires you to investigate.

57 Ignoring also the fact that none were expected in the telling of events.

Yet another thing that makes me mad, here.  They keep telling it like Zimmerman was beating on Trayvon, and then decided to shoot him- when Zimmerman (who has not, to my knowledge, been contradicted by any evidence- and therefore deserves the benefit of the doubt) never said anything like that: he said he got hit once, in the nose, and then Trayvon jumped on him and started beating his head into the pavement.

And people who haven't investigated closely can be forgiven their ignorance- they probably assume that Z's first action in defense was to hit back (which would lead to bruising, until you think about some other things).  But the media- who are self-appointed "experts" on everything, and have been investigating this cannot be so forgiven.  The only explanation left for them is that they are (and have been) purposefully misreporting.

I will say it again.  They are supporting a narrative.

They keep pouring gasoline on the fire with false and misleading "facts" and "news." They hope for a blow up and a few riots. Then everyone will be glued to their TV sets to see what happens, "If it bleeds it leads!"

Their audiences will go up, except for those that are being beaten, shot, raped and robbed in the riots that they are fanning the flames for.

Think of all the follow up stories on the suffering that a few riots will create. Burnt out neighborhoods, funerals and vigils for the dead, wiped out businesses, and grieving families.

70 Our media fucking lied an convinced everyone we were losing [Iraq].

Iraq was a complicated place, as I recall, with a lot of separate feuds going on in separate places:
- Kurdistan was always semi-pacified, semi-free, and semi-secular.
- Basra was quiet because the Brits (cravenly) let the Shi'ite militias own it.
- Ethnic cleansings happened all over Iraq, but once the Sunnis had their place over *here* and the Shi'ites had their place over *there*, things got quieter.
- Things almost got really ugly after the Samarra mosque bombing, but the Surge and, maybe more so, the Anbar Sahawat cleared al-Q out of Iraq - and proved to the shi'a that the *local* Sunnis weren't to blame for that sacrilege.

So I don't know if the media lied, as such. There were some dark days in Iraq, especially after the Samarra event. Otherwise Bush would have pulled out troops, instead of pushing in more troops for the Surge.

99 The best course of action is to arrest, try, convict and execute George Zimmerman in a very public trial. Watch as evidence is created and real evidence is swept aside. See Blacks dancing in the street and handing out sweets celebrating the death of a white man for killing a black man. Then what's the big story? Innocent man executed by fake media supported evidence. Blacks overjoyed with results even though now proved false. Obama loses one vote grabbing event. I'm not rooting for or against Zimmerman.  I am in favor of pointing out that the news media and democrats are not "reporting" news as purposefully NOT reporting news and purposefully inflaming racial division, for their own purpose.

I am against declaring this the crime of the century or a "racial hate crime" without any evidence and am against the rush to judgment against Zimmerman - who may or may not have acted in self-defense.

I fully expect the matter to be properly investigated and charges brought against Zimmerman if warranted.

but the media / liberal circus, that is (as always) pushing the racial grievance / racial division train, has to be combated.

111 I do not think the race mongers understand that this is the age of the internets. I like to think that hillary's "tuzla dash" story was a significant event in the history of news. Before the internets hillary would have been able to make her claim about doing the tuzla dash and even if there was griping and disagreement on the periphery there was nothing that would come from it since no one would have video of the event or be able to disseminate it widely. However, the internets had reached a point where it was possible to to so with her tuzla dash story. It has been a long road but now the same thing is happening with greater speed and wider dissemination. And this time instead of pushing back against a single candidate the internets are succeeding in pushing back against nearly the entirety of the mfm. The internets, kept the story going, refused to accept the narrative, and even promoted the discovery of new evidence / analysis. We are not there yet but the mfm is in decline and the conservative internets are coming along quickly.

The columbine massacres were engineered by teenagers, The folks who shot up the funeral home in Fla. were most likely teenagers, the ones who killed the little girl with a gang fight were teenagers. The fact that teryvon was a 17 year old defenseless unarmed teenager does not actually make him helpless or less deadly. The police report, or a portion of it was released last week. Last Friday, a local radio talk-show host read part of it on the air. In that report, the officer on the scene clearly states that Zimmerman was TREATED AT THE SCENE, by medics, for wounds to his head and face. Funny how the national media couldnÂ’t put 2 and 2 together to figure out why the video tape they saw of Zimmerman arriving at the police station didnÂ’t show a blood-covered man.

I know that- and that's kind of my point.  I like to think that innocence (I know it doesn't, but leave me my delusions) extends at least for the first 18 years of life.  In the normal course of events, "dude who shoots teenager" is not a sympathetic figure to me.  Not that he's necessarily a badguy, either: I was originally on the "horrible tragedy" bus on this.  I thought it was terrible for all involved.

But the more the MFM pushes the "gunned down" meme, the more I have to point out where they're telling obvious lies.  That makes me look more deeply into the case, which makes me more and more aware that George Zimmerman really probably is the sympathetic actor in this tragedy.

I don't take lightly to my delusion being shown for what it is.

154 130 The race-baiters want "an arrest." That's how it stays alive. No arrest, it all dies fairly soon. But, an arrest and then a trial, gives them months of publicity. And then the reace-baiters hope for acquittal. That's when the riots start. Posted by: Meremortal at April 02, 2012 02:10 PM (Usk3+) Interestingly, they are calling for and "arrest" not a conviction. It could be a result of the fact that arrest is shorter and has fewer syllables, but I think the deliberately chose to agitate for an arrest. An arrest is something that is easier to achieve and requires less time and effort. I think they know this is a loser, they want to define the conditions for success, achieve them, declare "winning", and go home. if the case is what we think it is there is no money to be had here. parents do note seem to have deep enough pockets, cops are not going to pay, nothing to gain may as well go home.

Martin was orginally labeled as a john doe, transferred to the morgue, had an autopsy performed, and his body was released 3 days later for burial. Though I can understand the mother was grieving, this is what she said a month later. You can not take what either parent has said to the press at face value. Also, I still don't believe there was a younger brother at home that Martin went out to buy candy for. That is just BS. From what I can tell, his father left him at his gf's alone and went out.

The City of Alexandria will host the 19th Annual Alexandria Earth Day and Arbor Day celebration... This year’s theme is "Eco-City Alexandria” highlighted by the 2nd Annual Trashion Fashion Show which will feature students from the Alexandria City Public Schools showing their upcycling creations by modeling fashions created by them from recycled materials; as well as songs and art.

Alexandria Earth Day is based on the need to promote education and lead us all to a green and sustainable future, in keeping with the goals of the Eco-City Alexandria Initiative.  In addition, the Alexandria Earth Day Committee has committed to making this event a zero-waste and carbon neutral. A serious question:  was an autopsy performed?  I am/was under the impression that any death by violence (or unknown cause for that matter) requries an autopsy.  An autopsy would intentionally remove and preserve evidence of a fight.  Which could not be seen by the mortuary.

This whole farce is yet another nail in the MFM coffin.

That said, I am still prepared for the possibility that the facts will show that Zimmerman shot when he didn't need to. Why? Because are still lacking in so many basic facts, and the guy has a history. And, because I don't need to draw a conclusion in order to indict the mobs, the race hustlers, the politicians and the MFM. Their behavior is indefensible, regardless of whether or not they are able to apply enough public pressure to force an arrest.

And wasn't there a time in our history when racist mobs took to the streets to demand that the judicial process be bypassed and that a citizen accused of an interracial crime be found guitly in order to appease the mobs?

219 Complete OT but I wanted to share.

Went to Cabela's on Sat to purchase my first handgun (Springfield XD-9 for those interested) and picked up a gun-safe while I was at it.  My wife doesn't want one the kids might even accidentally open (riiiiight, but I'll humor her) so I get one with a biometric lock.  Pretty good price, pretty good size.

Sunday, I open up the box, pull the safe out, and start following the instructions to open the safe the first time (you use the emergency key), and the safe won't open.  I try several things, thinking maybe it has to be configured "just so" to open- nothing.  My wife tries.  No go.

So we call Cabela's, and they admit it's probably broken, we can exchange it.  No, Cabela's is about an hour away from my house- I only went there in the first place because they have a much better selection than any place actually local to me.  So we drive up there, and they're out of that safe.  They'd had several the day before, but none now.  They call their warehouse- nope.  They call the other "local" (for a very broad definition of that term) store- nuh-uh.

So now we have to return the safe, then turn around and special order the same one.  I wouldn't have minded getting a non-biometric safe, but my wife insisted, and this was the only biometric in my budget.

*sigh*

243 Yankeefifth, Freeman Dyson and his Project Orion. Build a big semi-hemispehrical steel plate. Put the life capsule and cargo hundreds of feet above the plate. Then had a rail system drop nuclear bombs beneath the place and detonate. Nuclear pulse your way into orbit by detonating multiple bombs. Niven/Pournelle in Football used one against the invading alien baby elephants, it was called the Archangel Michael. Posted by: Anna Puma at April 02, 2012 02:31 PM (5VSxT) Interesting, I had not heard of that. Mike mentions project pluto which is what I was remembering.

Posted by: MikeTheMoose finally remembers why he's here at April 02, 2012 02:36 PM (0q2P7) But there were huge problems with that program. 1) the weight of the shielding 2) the shielding itself and the poor men flying it 3) the radioactivity exhausted from the plane

...when Andrew Breitbart posted part of a video of a black official describing a racist impulse she had? How that destroyed Breitbart's credibility, per the MSM? Because Breitbart "doctored" the video?

Glad the MSM doesn't operate under the same ethical duties imposed on Breitbart. The MSM can actually doctor materials, blatantly lie, and make any conclusions they want based on lacking evidence.

At least the MSM isn't fomenting racial hatred...oh, right...well, at least they will own up to the mistakes of low level staffers and apologize for innocent mistakes by their well-intentioned anchors who are as burdened by the lack of evidence as all of us were. Well after fomenting racial hatred and making sure 'justice is done.'

Oh they had issues. But they did run. Mostly the exhaust radioactivity and the lack of self limiting physical configuration against prompt criticality killed the program. They could have been a reasonable solution for cruise missiles giving them effectively infinite range.

She "knows" that a white guy with a history of mental problems shot a black teenager in the back. That is "the truth" she got from the media. Try to correct "the truth" and you're obviously lying or crazy. Even though she's seen cases of the media blatantly lying, her first impulse is to believe them. And there's millions like her.

286 I am not rooting for either the dead Trayvon or the live Zimmerman, I am rooting for the process of law.  The process where people on both sides present evidence under oath before a jury with a judge in charge, or even a grand jury to see if there is reason to even proceed.  This mess of trying someone in the media with race baiting innuendo has to stop.  It serves no one well, not Trayvon's family, the Black community at large, or the Hispanic community at large or anyone hoping to live peacefully and safely in Florida or anywhere else in America.

Posted by: Will Not Assimilate For Food at April 02, 2012 11:03 AM (kXoT0)

287 Just read that the FBI is doing a "parallel" investigation to see if Zimmerman violated Trayvons civil rights. The FBI? Said they were going to look into his background. Great. I'm sure they will find lots of "witnesses" to say he was racist. I wonder if they are going to look into Trayvons background to see if he violated Zimmermans civil rights?

Posted by: d_fitz at April 02, 2012 11:23 AM (+O9FO)

290 This is a national joke at this point. Defense attorneys must be lining up at his door begging to defend him. There is way more than a reasonable doubt against almost any charge you can bring against Zimmerman at this point IMHO and we haven't even got into the forensics yet.

Notice too Jackson and Sharpton are there  to bring justice to the Martin family. How do they define "justice" in their own words? The arrest of Zimmerman. NOT the conviction mind you. They know that's a hopeless cause at this point. If they can get an arrest they can sue. Blame the town for not "training" and "supervising" neighborhood watches properly.  The town and state will pay, gladly.

So the state will spend a million bucks hoping for some outside chance at manslaughter. They will get a hung jury at best and decline to re-prosecute the case because by then everyone will have gotten paid and no one will give a crap any longer.

In the meantime Zimmerman goes through about 18 months of hell and some Hispanics kids get the crap beat out of them while someone yells "Justice for Trayvon."  It's a crying friggin shame.
