Oh for Pete's sake:

President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron will be interviewed together at halftime of the NCAA tournament's first game. Sportscaster Clark Kellogg will talk to them for CBS and Turner Sports during the "First Four" matchup between Mississippi Valley State and Western Kentucky on Tuesday night on cable channel truTV.

Obama is taking Cameron to the college basketball game in Dayton, Ohio, during the prime minister's official visit to the United States. This will be the only joint interview by the two men during the trip.

I can't even rationally discuss this.

If you've ever seen the play-in game they're worst than a 6th grade JV girls game. The fact that he's attending this shows how out of whack his mind is right now. There's absolutely no reason he needs to be there.

Plus, this isn't far from where I work so of course that means he's going to fuck up my commute home.

Nutrition. This shit is hard.

I'm wondering why I can't shake these love handles. Meanwhile, I've been drinking a high-calorie/no fat protein shake that has been giving me insulin spikes and subsequent sugar crashes.

Well, guess what. That's what is making me store fat. Insulin spikes are fine -- immediately post-workout, followed by a real meal. But you do not want insulin spikes late in the afternoon between meals 4 and 5.

69 Federal safety regulators are investigating complaints that the accelerators can stick in Ford Tauruses from the 2005 and 2006 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on its website that 14 people have complained about the problem. No crashes or injuries have been reported, but several drivers said they felt unsafe when the throttles became stuck. One ran a red light and entered an intersection before the car could be stopped. That's certainly true.  Mostly I'm just pointing out that people seem to do okay as long as they're somewhat active and don't eat for 3- almost no matter what they eat.  That would be the general population of "people" of course, specific individuals may not be so lucky.

Mostly, I don't worry about it.  I lost a lot of weight last year so I could keep up with my kids.  I watch what I eat and don't go overboard with it, and call it good.

84 #68  My grandfather lived to 99.

A lot of people in the old days died of things that are curable now,  or don't even occur: typhoid, pneumonia, TB,  polio, cancers which now are treated by surgery and chemotherapy, etc.

Both of my grandparents were lean their entire lives, and my grandmother lived to be 87.

I am going to revamp my eating and see what happens.  And do more walking.

I am currently weaning myself from diet soda,  which despite not having sugars is thought to cause insulin spikes.  I noticed that after drinking one about half an hour later I would crave something sweet,  like chocolate.  I am normally not a sweets person.

I am going on a steak, fish, egg,  and salad diet. With a few potatoes every now and then.

That's why I said "average" Soona.  The plural of "anecdote" is not "data."

And, while I agree that for specific individuals moving to unprocessed foods and such is a good idea, I think the trade offs are worth it- when you consider that what we get for all that pre-processed food is the ability to feed the whole freaking world, if we so desired.

Seriously,  though,  my grandparents didn't use canned soup or things like that very much,  except for canned vegetables.  And those rarely,  because they had a freezer and froze corn, peas, etc.  and canned tomatoes and green beans.

And my folks NEVER served us canned soup except for tomato soup.  All other soups were home made.

96 Also, you have to keep in mind how the US records life expectancy.  I believe that we include infants that die (while a lot of places do not), which artificially lowers the average life expectancy in the US, and would have a lot more in the past.

97 >>I'm sure that oh, antibiotics, and other medical breakthroughs had *nothing* to do with the increase in life expectancy.

The more relevant stat might be "of the ones who made it to 60, what were the odds they'd see 70, absent injury or epidemic"? But that's math, and math is racist.

99 I'm sure that oh, antibiotics, and other medical breakthroughs had *nothing* to do with the increase in life expectancy.

Actually, I expect urbanization and the general increase in availability of previously only "urban" conveniences (like plentiful medical care and so forth) had much more to do with it.  I suspect most people who died before age 60 died as children (antibiotics, vaccines, etc. fixed most of that) or died in accidents or from injury.

Mostly I was being snarky.  It happens from time to time.

TIMES.

His Chief suggested that the University delay the opening game by one day since the President wanted to visit Dayton, Ohio.  Hilarity ensued.

Processed foods are ok for some things (beef jerky) BUT those Marie Callender frozen beef pot pies are 1400 calories for one,  due to sugar content and other stuff. They say 700/serving but if you read closely they consider 1/2 pie as a serving.

I am not going to go all-organic or that.  But living by myself (since hubby works overseas) I tend to either heat up a frozen meal or grab fast food.  I am going to attempt a different life style and see if it causes me to lose some weight.

152 Israel National News reports that the Turkish Foreign Ministry has condemned the State of Israel--and only the State of Israel--for military actions that occurred over the weekend in Gaza. The Turkish government – recently heralded by Obama administration allies as having become more pro-Western as a result of Obama’s policies of engagement – is quoted as expressing concern at what it labels “disproportionate and indiscriminate retaliatory attacks on Gaza that cause death to Palestinian civilians.” The Turkish government went further and stated “We ask Israel once again to end its inhumane and unacceptable policies toward Gaza...”. Absent from the Turkish government’s statement was any call for Hamas to cease the reported 135 Palestinian rocket attacks that had been launched at Israeli civilians as of on 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening – a day Israelis celebrate as a religious day of rest. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reports that only 74 of the rockets were able to land within Israel, a number the IDF credits to the Iron Dome defense system. Eight Israelis have been wounded from the Palestinian violence, and the Palestinian Ma’an news service reports that 15 Palestinians have been killed by defensive Israeli airstrikes. Another obama foreign policy success!

190 I love the DoJ trying to stop the TX Voter ID law (at least for this election). Why? Do they think they can win TX, even with 10 million illegales voting D? Hmm maybe they can. If they try to block the newly minted PA one, you know they're worried, hmm? I am sure they harbor no illusions about their chances of winning Texas. It's all messaging. Hey, look, Republican Red State Texas is racistly taking away the voting rights of illegals who will vote for all the people who will vote for the stuff you want and only this Preisdent can save you from that fate of being sent back to slavery! Eleventy!

No.  They can't.  We split the Hispanic Vote 40(R)/60(D) more or less.  I think Perry got nearly 50/50 last time.  The point isn't Texas- it's to get a precedent that any Voter ID law (except the most limp-wristed waste of paper possible) is Unconstitutional, so that none of the swing/close-call states will do the same thing.

They changed the rules for donating, so that you now have to put Where you work + your workplace address.

But it's "unconstitutional" to require an ID to be able to vote?

Their hypocrisy has become the only transparent thing in this regime. ....And now union goons are going to be showing up to harrass conservative donors at their homes and workplaces? .....That's right out of the commie playbook.

That's what that ethically challenged scumbag judge in Madison did last week.  Issued an injunction against the State of Wisconsin's recently enacted Voter ID law, just in time for the Walker recall.  No matter that the judge himself had signed the recall petition.  No matter that his wife was the one circulating the petitions.  No conflict of interest here at all.

They will stop at nothing to cheat their way to victory.

I still recall Anthony saying, not as a bold declaration, but simply casually mentioning on the air that he's conservative.  Shoot, he started his own company while still in college (which I think made him run afoul of the NCAA).

1.  That guy wasn't a caveman.  He was from a later period.

2.  I am certain some cave people or earlier people had genetic heart disease.  This does not speak to diet but rather inherited tendencies.  And why did it get passed along?  Because most people died before age 40 and no one noticed. And they died from things like getting frozen to death in the Alps.

How about just avoiding the whole stinking corrupt load of (C)BS?

Starve the beast(s) and stay away from "March Madness". If you watch this modern gladiator spectacle, you are dumping money in Obama's pockets, CBS/National Amusement + ABC/Disney's pockets and the major colleges that are stealing the country blind.

Obama's brother-in-law makes 950k/yr at Oregon state despite a lousy .475 w-l record which typifies the idiocy of modern college sports.
