Are Democrats Pondering Dumping Fauxcahontas?
— Ace

It has to be on their minds, of course, so the question is rhetorical.

The real question is how seriously they're considering it.

If Ms. DeFranco [Warren's last remaining Democratic rival for the nomination] clears one more hurdle — winning 15 percent of the delegate vote at the state Democratic convention in Springfield next Saturday — she will secure a spot on the primary ballot, giving Ms. Warren, a nationally known consumer advocate, an unwanted distraction from her anticipated showdown with Senator Scott P. Brown, the Republican incumbent.

The very liberal San Francisco Chronicle ran an column ridiculing her claims:

I also believe that Warren was too smart to not know that she was 31 times more white than Native American. She's too smart to not know that the designation could help her career, while taking pressure off Harvard Law to hire a real minority. But she was not so liberal that she cared.

She isn't Cherokee at all, dude.

6 Massachusetts Democrats elected Ted Kennedy seven times after he killed a woman with his Oldsmobile. They re-elected Gerry Studds 9 times after he admitted to molesting a House Page. Why should they suddenly get moral about lying?

7 My theory is that Massachusetts liberals despise the rest of America and elect the worst scumbag politicians in the state ... Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Barney Frank, Gary Studds, Bill Delahunt, Ed Markey... to Congress in order to punish the rest of us.

12 Why should they suddenly get moral about lying? They aren't. They get "moral" about winning. Warren is getting no traction against Brown. Remember when Torricelli was being investigated? They weren't all moral about him being a crook until it became clear that he would lose, so they broke the law and replaced him with someone else.

Posted by: Soothsayer at May 29, 2012 10:56 AM (9Q7Nu)

21 why should they suddenly get moral about lying

Because she isn't Ted Kennedy.  Because they have already voted for a Republican now.  Because the past isn't the future and people learn.

This is why you take the half loaf and then come back for more, instead of shouting RINO every time your candidate isn't Barry Goldwater.

So the ballot will say something like "For Senator - pick one":
    Brown       (R)
    DeFranco  (D)
    Warren      (D)

That's not dumping Warren, that's just plain old-fashioned capitulating.

The SFC says:  "But she was not so liberal that she cared."  That would seem to indicate that she was too conservative to care that she was lying and cheating to get ahead in her life.  It should read, 'But she was so liberal that she didn't care.'  We always have to correct the SFC.

Same could be said about what to do with a cadaver for a candidate.  In Minnesota, it was a bad idea replacing the dead guy with the almost dead guy, Mondale.  In Missouri, they decided to send Mel Carnahan's corpse out there anyway, and lo and behold, he won!

77 So back to the Kimberlin thing, I don't know if Maryland is like Virginia but I expect they are similar - in Virginia, you can get a restraining order on someone if violence occurred and you say that you are frightened - even if you are the one who initiated the violence. This isn't a theoretical reading of the law, I have seen it happen, my ex-wife got a restraining order against my wife after she was the aggressor in an altercation. And then she stalked my wife, trying to get her into violation of the restraining order (the order says the restrained cannot be in "contact" with the protected person - it doesn't stipulate what contact means.) This is an easily manipulable portion of the law. And add to this - the judge has no requirement to follow the law. A judge can do what he/she wants for whatever reason. And in a hard case where he doesn't understand the details, if he wants to go with his gut on who pisses him off more between the two parties, he can do that. Again, this is non-theoretical, I have seen it happen.

Yeah, because minor procedural matters such as passing a budget and determining which bills are allowed a vote don't really matter much, right?

John Edwards Hits the Bar Scene

As the jury in the John Edwards trial continues deliberations this week, the New York Post reports the former presidential candidate "flexed his trial-lawyer charm on pretty Andrea Love, 25, at the dive Bowbarr just outside of Chapel Hill, NC, last spring."

Said Love: "I met him by the bar. I was kind of amused by the situation. He seemed like a charming guy."

"Love said Edwards tried to schmooze her by telling her he was looking forward to practicing law again -- and wanted to represent the poor."

107 Various recent polls show Brown and Shitting Bull essentially tied, so this 'scandal' hasn't hurt her much. She's the only one with a big enough warchest to compete effectively against Scott, who has raised $15 million in campaign funds.

One article earlier today mentioned that Caroline Kennedy could yet come in somehow to take over from Warren -- I dunno how that would work but you can bet that the Kennedy name would attract some big donors.

I put scandal in quotes because to us it is; to liberals, not so much.

180 I go to Mass every day and was of course concerned when the administration attempted to circumvent my church's rigid dogma on reproductive health. I was so grateful when they honorably compromised by offering it free of charge through insurance. I do hope same-sex marriage is subsidized in the same way, so that my conscience rights are protected. What concerns me about Brown is that he seems willing too often to align himself with the forces of obstruction rather than compromise.

195 Attorney General Eric Holder, the IRS, and the liberal lawyers at the ACLU will brief several hundred pastors in the African American community on how to participate in the presidential election -- which the Congressional Black Caucus chair expects will help President Obama's campaign. "We will have representatives from nine denominations who actually pastor somewhere in the neighborhood of about 10 million people, and we're going to first of all equip them with the information they need to know about what they can say and what they cannot say in the church that would violate their 501c3 status with the IRS," Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., told MSNBC today. "In fact, we're going to have the IRS administrator there, we're going to have the Attorney General Eric Holder there, we're going to have the lawyers' organization from around the country, the ACLU -- all giving ministers guidance about what they can and cannot do," he noted. Cleaver said they would not tell pastors which candidate to support. They will let them know who to regard as the good guys, though (hint: not Republicans). "We're going to talk about some of the draconian laws that have cropped up around the country as a result of the 17 percent increase in African American votes," Cleaver said, describing voter ID laws as a form of Jim Crow-style "poll tax" on seniors and black voters. How can this be even remotely legal?

196 Has anyone seen this?  Apparent Eric Holder, the IRS, and the ACLU are helping "educate" black pastors on "what they can and what they cannot say" regarding the election.

OH, Chowderman reminded me...

In case anyone remembers my occassional reports from my liberal FB friends and their commentary on Obama '12...  I had an eye-opener this weekend.

My friend is no longer sure who she will vote for in November.  Her pastor told his congregation that he will vote for whichever candidate best supports his Christian beliefs.  And that left her in a deep, deep quandry.

Obama is Christian (her words), but he supports gay marriage.

But Romney is Mormon, and they're all wierd with their polygamy and Book of Mormon.

So she's now giving a second look at Paul.  Which is hard, because she heard he's racist, and she's black.

Glimmer of hope, fellow morons!  Here's one voter in Philly that may very well wind up staying home!  And by staying home, I mean, her name will only be used once, when someone votes illegally for her  in another county.

Liberalism... all that matters is caring.

Posted by: AndrewsDad at May 29, 2012 03:27 PM (C2//T)

Not even that...all that matters is claiming to have good intentions...see, liberals are too enamored of their affectations of virtue to understand how stupid they are.  It's grade school rhetoric: they proclaim loudly and repeatedly how wonderful their intentions are, so by default we rethuglicans must have bad intentions!  They call this binary, black and white mischaracterization 'nuance'.

I have two signed copies of Sowell's Economics books (and a letter from him - we corresponded a few times, and he used one of my snarks once in a column).

I used to teach at a historically Black College (student body was > 95% black).  I would regularly lend out these copies to students to show what a conservative black economist had to say on things.  Needless to say, it sparked a lot of conversations with students.

Not a big deal in the scheme of things; I had to kind of chuckle. But this presumptuous, holier than thou attitude is why people loathe the MSM.

They just can't resist flinging snot at your face, because after all, you're a conservative, you're really not even worthy of consideration as a person to them.

Keep up the motivation for us to go out and vote, work, and spend for the election of  Republicans and conservatives, little leftists. Poke every dumb, sleeping dog with your insult zapper. They'll never wake up.

214 Can anyone vote in the Dem primary in Massachusetts? ....Or is it closed, and only registered Dems can vote?

Posted by: wheatie at May 29, 2012 04:01 PM (YzQ1g)

Semi-open.  You can't vote cross-party but if you're "unaffiliated" (independent) you can vote in either primary.  D(s) outnumber R(s) something like 3 or 4 to 1 here but over 50% of voters are unaffiliated.

Many of those unaffiliated are disinterested in politics but some are like me - I'm a conservative in one of the most liberal areas of the state (Capuano's district.)  For most of the local elections the D primary is the real election and the winner is unopposed in the general.  I'd register as an R if I was still in my native Ohio, but if I did that here I'd have absolutely no say in my state rep or senator, city councilors, etc.

So I might have a chance to vote against Fauxcahontas twice this year!

Posted by: lurkah from bahston at May 29, 2012 01:46 PM (p18em)

215 Last week a poll in MA showed that 72% of registered voters said they had heard of the fake Indian story about Warren, but 49% believe she is part Cherokee.

It's one of the most liberal states in the country, expect suspension of disbelief.  You have to be willing to instantly disregard the laws of physics, mathematics, and economics to believe most of what the Left believes.  A little thing like fake credentials isn't anything for liberals to swallow.

Notice the acclaim for Biden (at least in 2008, among Democrats).  They've all forgotten his speech from the '88 campaign where he stole not only the speech, but the biographical details from far-left British Labour leader Neal Kinnock, including the sad story of his father toiling away in the coal mines.  Biden's dad never worked in a coal mine.  His papers in college and law school show similar instances of plagiarism.  And yet, there he sits as President of the Senate.

Being a phony isn't a disqualifier to liberals.  They are ALL phonies.  We express surprise and disgust at the way they tolerate the likes of Uncle Teddy, Bill Clinton, Al and Jesse, Spitzer, Cuomo, Biden, etc., but that's because we wouldn't accept it from conservatives.  Every single leftist you ever met is hiding something.  Every one.

216 I think it's interesting because I think it is very difficult to talk about Elizabeth Warren without invoking fakery, without invoking the words "Fauxcahontas." Um, and, ah, ah, why do I feel so comfortable about the word "Fauxcahontas"? I feel comfortable, ah, uncomfortable, about the word because it seems to me that it is so rhetorically proximate to justifications for more casinos.
