Under that, "HOPE + CHANGE!"

You know looking at that, we're a lot worse off than I originally though. At first I had thought that we went from a "sickly" during the end of W's term to a "holy shit we're in the crapper" now.
But based on that chart alone, it looks like we went from "could be better, but still not awful." to "Holy shit we're in the crapper." Or basically a bigger fall than I had thought.
Part of that is probably related to the rhetoric used to sell TARP, which seems to have implied things were far worse than the rality of it (relatively speaking.)

The way the feds measure unemployment has been screwed up for a long time. Once someone's unemployment benefits run out, they're not counted among the unemployed but having dropped out of the labor force.
There's also the question of how many Baby Boomers are retiring vs how many young people are entering the labor pool.

My company has been hiring on and off for the last 2 years. I really thought with being in a recession, we could find some really good employees. After seeing some of these new guys starting fights, fucking up product and equipment, showing up drunk, showing up hours late and sleeping on the job, I have concluded that those people that really want to work must already be working somewhere else.

Leaving aside the Stupid Party's glaring lack of balls in holding SCFOAMF's feet to the fire on anything, here's a question:
Is monkeying with the numbers for unemployment, GDP, inflation, etc. actually ILLEGAL? If it's not, why would Democrats ever think twice about cooking those books. Hell, they'd do it even if it was a felony.
