Wait, wait, the Army too?

Those kids right there, when they receive their commissions will be 2nd Lieutenants in the United States Army, 2nd Lieutenants in the Marine Corps, or Ensigns in the United States Navy.
God bless em. Also go Army beat Navy.

66...I've never been a fan of eggnog...
Have you ever had homemade egg nog?
It's totally different from the commercial stuff.
You start with brandy and rum...add egg yolks and let that mixture sit in the refrigerator for at least 3 days.
Then, right before you want to serve some...you whip up the egg whites with real cream, and fold that into the refrigerated yolk/alcohol mixture.
You can't taste the eggs or the alcohol...it's really very good.

The museum at Pensacola already has on display one restored SBD-2 Dauntless on display. I took this picture on May 28, 2010. Aircraft is a veteran of Midway and was recovered from Lake Michigan.

They also have on display in a separate enclosed area another Lake Michigan Dauntless. This one is un-restored and pretty mangled. The lighting simulates it still being underwater.

The military takes a 500 billion dollar hit on 1 Jan, worse if there's "compromise."
The Academies have a lot of enemies among the administration's base.
ROTC spreads the funds around the country (even though as it stands now, all five academies are in blue states). And officers are hated roundly, like right here.
They make a mighty tempting target.

But my point is, you see stuff from these offenses that you never get to see in major football anymore.
That accounts for my affinity for college ball in general. More teams = more offensive and defensive looks. More opportunities for a bit of the old razzle-dazzle and experimentation.
I'm still a fan of the wishbone. Bear Bryant ran that for a while with good results.

Red center dots and full white lettering with stars in four positions is how they started the war. So a Dauntless assigned to VS-6 as #5 would be painted as 6-S-5 or perhaps would be called white Sail Five.
In February 1942 at the Wake Island raid that same Dauntless would be marked radically different. Red and white rudder stripes would now be present, regulations said the stripes would only extend from the hinge back not the full rudder. In the field often the whole rudder got painted red and white because it was easier. Two more stars were added and the size was increased, thus have four stars on the wings and the crews painted to the best of their ability. Regulations specified stars on the wings of a certain size, but on many they stretched from leading edge to trailing edge. Red dots are still present on the stars.
One of the best time capsules of how a plane should have looked at this is TBF-1 8-T-1 of VT-8 Detached. When photographed at NAS North Island on March 28th, 1942 it was sporting regulation markings. Red and white rudder stripes. Full mission codex in black lettering on the side. Six stars of the regulation sizes in proper locations with red center dots. When deployed to Midway with five other Avengers, those rudder stripes and red dots were painted over.
http://static.guide.supereva.it/guide/storia_militare/Avenger.jpg
Finally here is a short movie Hollywood director John Ford put together for the families of Cmdr. John Waldron's VT-8. USS Hornet had taken color movies of the flight crews and their planes when Enterprise and Hornet had rushed from the Doolittle Raid to Pearl and then back out in an attempt to join the Battle of the Coral Sea. This is how their Devastators looked less than three weeks before being lost at Midway. You can see how varied the markings are.

Me too, although I can't recall anyone running it lately. It seems as though everyone likes the spread and West Coast offense.
I keep thinking that someone will start running it again. It's like clothes: hang onto them long enough and they'll come back into style again. But with modern technology, ie: YouTube, I doubt anyone could do that anymore. It wouldn't be a surprise for long.

Rickl, that is nowhere comprehensive. For example there were utility aircraft during the Pearl attack who were still sporting the colorful pre-1940 markings. Just as when USS Ranger put ashore its Devastators at the end of June 1942 they fully complied with US Navy regulations except retaining full codes.

212: I completely missed this. It's Bizarro world. My alma mater, the Rice Owls, former doormats of the SWC, are 6-6 and playing Air Force in the Bell Helicopter Bowl. Unbelievable.
BTW we beat Tulane this year.

Touchdown Navy, anyway.
Army could use a JTAC, to call in an airstrike.

It's always been pricey. Back in my day it was a little more affordable. I can't tell you much about the current state of the school. I was there many years ago. Good luck to your daughter. New Orleans is a unique town.

206...The state of Arkansas has found their missing Apollo 17 Moon rock. It was found among some other effects of Bill Clinton's first term as governor.
-----------
The Clintons are shameless kleptos.
They cleaned out the White House when they left...even taking things that were actually nailed down.

It fits though. Regardless of the spokes people and the odd cutey trotted out now and then, women who are attracted to the military generally are a few points lower than average on the hotness scale.
These are just anecdotal observations, feel free to counter with your own just don't be nasty about it. I didn't say it was a bad thing.
YMMV

As for fake versus real. Really? You think that many college cheerleaders go for artificial? How . . . disappointing.
I haven't take a recent survey and in my heyday, artificial was still fairly rare at my economic strata.
Points taken though.
