Barack Obama: Hey, Wanna Get High?

Things that could have been reported in 2008. But it's nice to have some vetting in the final months of Barack Obama's presidency.

In his 1995 memoir Â“Dreams of My Father,Â” Obama writes about smoking pot almost like Dr. Seuss wrote about eating green eggs and ham. As a high school kid, Obama wrote, he would smoke Â“in a white classmateÂ’s sparkling new van,Â” he would smoke Â“in the dorm room of some brotherÂ” and he would smoke Â“on the beach with a couple of Hawaiian kids.Â”
He would smoke it here and there. He would smoke it anywhere.
Now a soon-to-be published biography by David Maraniss entitled Â“Barack Obama: The StoryÂ” gives more detail on ObamaÂ’s pot-smoking days, complete with testimonials from young Barry ObamaÂ’s high school buddies, a group that went by the name Â“the Choom Gang.Â” Choom was slang for smoking marijuana.
Maraniss portrays the teenage Obama as not just a pot smoker, but a pot-smoking innovator.
Â“As a member of the Choom Gang,Â” Maraniss writes, Â“Barry Obama was known for starting a few pot-smoking trends.Â”
The first Obama-inspired trend: Â“Total AbsorptionÂ” or Â“TAÂ”.
Â“TA was the opposite of Bill ClintonÂ’s claim that as a Rhodes scholar at Oxford he smoked dope but never inhaled,Â” explains Maraniss. HereÂ’s how it worked: If you exhaled prematurely when you were with the Choom Gang, Â“you were assessed a penalty and your turn was skipped the next time the joint came around.Â”

It's also fun to roll cars while baked.

Of course, smoking, drinking and driving on mountain roads could also be a little dangerous. Especially the night they tried drag racing.
The race to the top of Mount Tantalus pitted the Â“ChoomwagonÂ” against another friendÂ’s Toyota. Obama was in the Toyota. The Choomwagon made it to the top first. When the other car didnÂ’t show up, those in the Choomwagon drove back down to find them. HereÂ’s how Maraniss describes what happened next:
Â“On the way down, they saw a figure who appeared to be staggering up the road. It was Barry Obama. What was going on? As they drew closer, they noticed that he was laughing so hard he could barely stand up.Â”
His friend had rolled the car. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.

The White House has no comment.

Does this matter?

Well, it seems to matter as much as a Gay Haircut Massacre.

Or the fact that Ann Romney likes horses.

Did I say horses?

I meant "Horse Ballet," because, you know, that's what everyone calls the not-terribly-obscure Olympic sport of dressage.

Like, she's rich enough to put horses in tutus and re-enact Swan Lake.

83 Why did they think "dressage" was going to catch on as a negative meme? I've been to county fairs where dressage was an important event. Red state people love horses. Dressage is not unfamiliar to them nor does it seem an exclusively wealthy past time. I imagine it is no more expensive than barrel racing. Yet another example of the White House being out of touch with the people it want to lead.

Why we might even see speculation that Barry not only lied about his birthplace on college apps (claiming exotic Kenyan birthplace rather than HI) but also that he flim-flammed college administrators by going to Occidental --first year or 2, spent on self-discovery and seminar BS before getting to some objective courses then jumping to Columbia where core classes have to be taken early and then students can get into poly sci classes where BS'ing skills will get them through.

And yet a fairly functional person I know in meatspace and on FB shared the BS graph that Barry has slowed the rate of growth of government spending more than in the last XX years. When I first saw that link to something written by "Rex Nutting" I thought perhaps it was the onion. So hard to parody Barry and the MarxSpewMedia.
