— andy I think Mickey Kaus is onto something here:
Why has Obama’s public campaign been so ineffective for the past month? Couldn’t someone digitally sophisticated and untanked–e.g. Buzzfeed‘s Ben Smith–make a good argument that the President was led astray by the overhyped reality and promise of Internet Politics.
Now, the Ben Smith part is kind of silly, as BuzzFeedPolitics appears to exist solely to further OFA's stupid Internet meme-pushing, but the rest seems right on time.
His team is so Web-savvy theyÂ’ve forgotten how to campaignÂ…. After all, ObamaÂ’s aides are probably all on Twitter. Inevitably, if subconsciously, theyÂ’ll tend to skew in favor of ideas that get them big instant Twitter love, as opposed to old-fashioned themes that will win over the unconverted.
The past few weeks have given us #BigBird, #Romnesia, #Bayonets and others. It's like his entire campaign is a bumper sticker-covered Prius.
What's also notable about this is a fact Kaus failed to mention: Team Obama tried this meme-pushing exercise all summer on Twitter, and conservatives hijacked and mocked their hashtags mercilessly. Every time a new one popped up, Ace, Iowahawk, Cuffy, the Breitbart crew, Treacher, and a cast of thousands on Twitter used biting humor to rally our troops against Obama while smothering any pretense of efficacy this may have ever had as a serious campaign tactic.
This should come as a shock to no one who pays attention to the disastrous results of the left's policies, but the fact that their strategy never worked didn't prevent them from going full-speed ahead with it.
So here we find ourselves a little over a week away from the election with Obama running on fear, Internet memes and faded glory. And the left can't understand why they're losing?
Obama had a meteoric rise from nothing to become the top worldwide trending topic in 2008. But now, he's #OLD.

The problem with the meme is that Twitter, or Facebook... or blogs... are only seen by those who already either support you, or want to argue with you.
I don't do Twitter... nor does anyone I work with (and hell, we're an IT company)... nor my neighbors... nor do any of my close relatives, or my kids...
Politics on facebook has become a contact sport, and led to many many unfriendings....
And the Web gives you the ability to go to sites you WANT to go to... and NOT see crap you don't wish to....
So.... new Tech? Helps with your supporters.... but its NOT going to reach outside of your already existing group.

Ohio tied 49-49 in a really crappy poll with only 10% indy respondents. Re-weighting gets to about 51 - 47 Romney. But you really can't buy that poll cause you don't know the other re-weights.

Yes it was a poorly run campaign by the Obama minions, but no one in the media actually helped them by giving them criticism. None of the media fellatio helped Obama, because he thought he was a genius.
They sandbagged Obama and themselves constantly because they think we can all be "messaged" to death and we will all succumb to this. If you repeat a lie often enough and loud enough, people will come to believe it, is their operative thought.
Indeed, the phony polling data, the silly weightings used that reflect 2008 turnout, the uncritical treatment of everything "Obama" has actually made it harder for Obama to get re-elected. Sure, they thought the polls were right, sure they thought they were leading, sure they thought they were unbeatable.
They didn't look at the returns from 2010. They didn't have the sense to learn the lesson that Bill Clinton learned after the 1994 mid-terms. They doubled down on the stupid. They deserver to be consigned to the dust bin of history.

FnF was a fumble and a false flag operation that caused deaths but not directly by those in charge.
Benghazi was a misdirection that would've achieved what they wanted if not for the heroes that defied orders.
It was premeditated murder. That was the goal all along for someone(Stevens) to die covering up Obama and his Muslim advisors funneling weapons to the Muslim Brotherhood dressed up as Al Qaeda.
The truth became known because of heroes on the ground and the outrage by their fellow warriors at the calumny and treason from the top.

Write-in votes for Ron Paul, a woman who's sick of seeing Medicaid people at the hospital she works at refuse to apply for jobs and demand more free stuff, but she's voting for Obama again? And they got some asshole sociologist from UIowa who can't figure out why the middle class is angry at freeloaders instead of rich people* to explain that because we're angry, we're going to choose wrong next month.
* Many rich people are also freeloaders. Springsteen calls himself a farmer to get tax breaks and ag subsidies. Algore's received millions upon millions in federal subsidies and "green initiatives." Democrat scrunts in Congress funneling millions upon millions to their husbands' businesses. UAW big-wigs. On and on and on. I hate them.

Exactly. After every goddamned play someone has to act like he just cured cancer.
Dave Barry wrote a hilarious "description" of football some years ago. His description of a basic play went along the lines of: The players on both temas first hold a meeting to decide who will perform the traditional celebratory dances after the ensuing play. Then the players all line and the quarterback shouts some numbers. The ball is passed to the quarterback and all the players run into each other and fall down. Then certain players jump up and perform the traditional celebratory dances. And so on.

I called that one early this morning. Watch what the left does with this storm regarding voting. They will try to extend it for the whole month of Nov, or until they are satisfied that they have manufactured enough votes to put the indonesian bastard back in our White House. It will get very ugly over this storm if it indeed pans out the way the forecasters say.

I don't buy into it as an act of divine intervention, but what the hell:
Genesis 12: 1-3 :
And I [the Lord] will bless those that bless you [The children of Israel] and curse the one who curses you. And in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.
There probably *is* something there that if you can stand up for principle (ie supporting the only actual Democratic gov't in the Middle East) vs taking the easy way out (supporting oil-rich autocratic/theocratic Arab regimes), then you'll see some actual policy benefit over time.

I never have understood why so many whites are so infatuated with black ghetto thug life. When I was in High School, there were a handful of blacks in a school of several hundred whites. Most of the white kids tried to emulate the blacks in every way possible. I think that's how the chocolate jesus got elected. I really don't understand it. - Havedash
My youngest son goes to a high school that has a really unusual cross section of kids - income, race, etc.
I think one reason that a lot of white kids emulate the Young Black lifestyle is fashionable rebellion that is part of being a teenager. They know it drives their parents up the wall, so they do it to annoy us. As they mature, they can leave it behind. Unfortunately, a lot of black kids don't.
My teen-age high school son does it to a degree, so I usually just make fun of him instead of "forbidding" him to do something, like when he wears flip flops when it is rainy and cold outside. He is actually fairly self-aware, and makes fun of the way some of the kids behave himself. I think by the time he is 17 or 18 he will outgrow this sort of childish nonsense.

Under whose/what authority can anyone extend voting due to poor weather conditions? Is there any Federal or State constitutional authority for that? I don't know of any.
It seems even more questionable when lots of States have provisions for early voting. (IE if you were worried about a hurricane, in many cases you could have voted sooner).
I think hurricane or not, come Tuesday night the election will be over.
Unless the margin of victory is razor-thin, whining about hurricanes or after-action litigation is just going to look like so much sore-loserism.

Looking at this election this really does not look like Obama wants to win. This looks like a guy that never wanted the job in the first place but wound up with it. I think elections are still controlled on a State level.
To the extent that a storm depresses voting, that helps the side that has the more motivated voters (ie the ones who will brave a storm to go vote). In this case, I think that's *probably* Romney.
I say *probably* because the States that the storm is supposed to hit are all strong Dem states, and for all I know, the more motivated voters in THOSE states love Obama.
But more important, with the possible exception of NH, I don't think any of them are even close to being constestable anyway.
Is there any State that Sandy is expected to hit that is not a complete lock for Obama? (IE NJ, NY, MA, etc)?
