Bob Beckel: It's Over
— Ace

He doesn't say it's over-over, but he does actually say that if the numbers are right (Gallup's), it's over, and points out the lead is outside the margin of error.

He notes -- again with the caveat "if the numbers are accurate" -- that there is no way an incumbent can push a challenger back below 50%, once he's above it.

Meanwhile -- and this is awesome -- Romney is finally considering advertising in Michigan and Pennsylvania.

CNN is reporting just as IÂ’m writing this that Team Mitt is indeed moving some (but not all) of its assets out of NC.
Update: Reported at the Post, too.

They were already pondering shifting to Pennsylvania, and this was pre-squatch.

More: CAC brought this to my attention, but I didn't post it: ARG has Romney up 1 in Ohio, and up 4 (50-46) in Colorado.

I'm still on Squatch Patrol.

Oh, and Senator Clownfart embarrassed himself again.

1 by "margin of error" does he mean they can't possibly overcome it with the massive voter fraud they've already prepared?

4 Sounds like the right move to me.  Polls showing him within the MOE in two states that were recently thought to be unlikely when NC looks locked up?  Move some assets.

As hard as it is to imagine, these polls are so imprecise that MOE>>MOF.

HOWEVER: if the error actually happens to skew all in one direction (and we know the fraud skews all in one direction) then to be confident of victory, your margin must exceed MOE+MOF.

In any event, +7 is likely > MOE+MOF.

The word "extreme" has lost some of its political punch, because it is tossed around so frequently.  But Tammy Baldwin really truly is extreme, by any definition.  Her Congressional voting record is to the left of Pelosi. She votes no on bills where 90% of her own party votes yes. And not in a good way.  She is so far left she is out there with Maxine Waters. She is virulently anti-Israel.  She is the best friend Iran has in the Congress.  She's the Code Pink Wing  of Congress.  And she has boatloads of cash. She must not win.

Long as I remember the rain been comin' down
Clouds of mystery pourin' confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages tryin' to find the sun.
And I wonder still I wonder who'll stop the rain.

I went down Virginia seekin' shelter from the storm
Caught up in the fable I watched the tower grow
Five year plans and new deals wrapped in golden chains.

Several people have signs out for the lefty-initiatives but not for JEF. That is very telling. I drove to metro airport the other day on surface streets. A 40 minute drive one way, through all types of economic class neighborhoods. Many signs for Romney and only two for JEF. Signs for local races everywhere just no visible support for JEF. No bumper stickers for JEF in the Mall or grocery store parking lots except for one old sticker that's been on the car for awhile. I think MI goes red this year.

No, his lead isn't outside the margin of fraud. I'm thinking it's either a Reagan/Mondale-like blowout or we lose. Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine the cadre of true believers surrounding the President giving up power as the result of a free and fair election. Better than even chance we'll see the Chicago Way writ large, nationwide.

Of course, the President himself could refuse to concede on election day, claiming widespread fraud or voter suppression or general shenanigans and hijinks and demand a state-by-state recount. Democrats typically do well on recounts. We'll see, I guess.

213 guys, we really need to rethink this

do we really want to elect Romney?

I mean, what kind of message does that send to the real conservatives out here?

and with Obama re-elected, we could kill in the midterms

I really think its time we accept this, Romney is not the right candidate for us true conservatives

besides. Obama killed Bin laden

we can't top that

214 The video update reminded me of a line i think Romney would be well served to use in the upcoming debate (and in the last one, too) re: Libya. In response to Obama's promise that we will bring the people that killed four Americans to justice, Mitt should say, "I'm all in favor of bringing those terrorists to justice, but i'd rather we worry more about protecting our men and women overseas before they're killed." Something like that.

Any word on Oregon?

The Obama lead pre-debate was 9 points, and that is about equal to the swing nationally in Romneys favor.  Oregon, with 7 EVs, opens up the path of OR, NH, ME 1st (added to VA, CO, FL) for 269.

It looks like things may be unfolding as we strongly believed it would.

Here's to our side continuing to ride this glorious wave right through election day into a national mandate for sanity.

And as always: good job, man.

163 anyone remeber what the maps looked like for Reagan on election day?

The general consensus was that Reagan was going to lose.

That's what the media was pushing.

Polls mostly showed Carter leading.

The DNC was running lots of Ads, showing Reagan in those black and white 'Monkey Movies' that he did....the Bonzo movies.

They were ridiculing the fact that he'd been an actor.

The only Reagan Ads that I remember, were positive ones...where he talked about 'less govt regulation, less taxes'.

If we can simply get them to stay home, it will vastly improve (R) chances in the Senate. People in the Walker recall were registering and voting instantly by showing junk coupon mailers as proof of residency and poll workers were accepting them as okay to register and vote on site.  We are 40 miles from Chicago.  It is not a pretty picture.

Don't get cocky.  The Obama team definitely is getting out the African American vote for early voting in Charlotte, NC.

Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill will probably go to Obama -- but I am optimistic that Romney will keep the margin closer than McCain did.  Romney should win virtually every other part of NC.  But its all about turnout.

I cannot tell you how wonderfully delicious it is when the democrats lose to be on campus. When TJF is gone all these passive aggressive academics will be so sad. Sadder than they have ever been. My husband's best gloating election story happened January 1981. He was still in grad school and brought his tiny black and white TV into the lab to watch Reagan's inauguration.

For you North Carolina Winston Wolf fans:

Early voting reports for NC, 2012 election

Total Votes: 50,674

Dem: 13,887 = 27.4%

Rep: 27,455 = 54.2%

Unaffiliated: 9,255 = 18.3%

Libertarian: 77 = 0.2%

Compare that with 2008:

Dem: 51.4%

Rep: 30.2%

Other: 18.5%

Pucker up.
