BREAKING: Shooting At Family Research Council Office
— DrewM

A security guard and the suspect have been shot.

Obviously with all the hate spewed at the group by the left, it's fair to wonder if this is politically motivated. It's early but reports are it might well be.

Expect the left to be suddenly uninterested in politically motivated violence.

Via Gabe, sounds like the guard is going to be ok.

If it turns out the shooter was a    regressive activist, expect the MFM to do the following:

1) Disregard       or downplay    the shooter's   leftist, regressive    associations

2) Rarely if ever name the actual     target of the crime, if Family Research Council was    indeed     the target

3) Refer to the target only as "a right wing organization affiliated with anti-abortion activities," or something similar

I feel like a war is coming against conservatives and we are seeing the opening attacks in that with incidents like this shooting.

Even more concerning is that the New Black Panthers spokesman was allowed to say that he wants to create an inner city military that goes into day care centers and kills white babies and kills white people on the street and nothing is done, not a peep written in the MSM. I doubt the NBPs will stop to ask about political affiliation before killing a white person, so for every unhinged liberal that is rejoicing at these incidents against conservatives, I hope they realize they are unleashing the hounds of hell on themselves as well.

57 Posed as an intern.

Hey, about guns.  You want big stopping power in a small package?  Any of those newer little revolvers in .357 mag will knock down bigger perps than my autoloader in .45 ACP.

I love that ACP acronym, which is for the century-old load called Automatic Colt Pistol.

Yeah, look at the ballistics.  It's all about the charge behind the round, and the .357 has a big one.

Autoloaders use the blowback potential of the charge's explosion to activate the slide that does the reload.  The kinds of energy expended by the charge in a .357 or a .45 Long Colt would send the average slide right through your head and the head of anyone standing behind you.

Gun facts.  Love 'em.

I believe armed private guards in DC have to be given "Special Police Officer" status by the District.  So they're private guards, but commissioned by the district, or something like that.  It was a way for DC to arm who they want to arm and get around their own gun laws.

89 LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Paul Ryan on Tuesday rallied a raucous crowd of supporters at a high school here, making the case on his fourth day as Mitt Romney’s running mate that the GOP ticket is one of ideas, not just an alternative to President Obama. “You see, we’re not going to go to people in this country and say, ‘The other guy is so bad that you have to vote for me by default,’” Ryan said in remarks at Palo Verde High School. The theme of the event was housing; Ryan touched on the topic only briefly, though, before launching as he did earlier in the day into a broader critique of Obama’s handling of the country’s economy. And even as Medicare continues to dominate the political debate, Ryan did not address the topic in his remarks. “We — for the first time in the history of this nation — are giving our kids a diminished future. We’re mortgaging their future and giving them a burden of debt they can’t possibly survive,” he said. If Obama were to get reelected, he contended, “it would be more of the same.” “Obamanomics is not working,” he said. “And you know what, the recovery starts November the Sixth.” He received a rowdy welcome from the crowd, which stomped its feet when Ryan said that Americans’ rights come “from God, not from government.” [...] Stephen Boggioni, a 59-year-old Las Vegas retiree, tossed a baseball in Ryan’s direction; Ryan caught the ball one-handed, signed it, and then handed it to a Secret Service agent, who handed it back to Boggioni. Boggioni said after the event that he was impressed with Ryan’s catch. WaPo blog. ********* So Ryan is in Nevada already, and looks like he has Secret Service. If they let him go on that small stage in Iowa--and if they were there they fell asleep. Ryan had to point the heifer out to them.

ABC is reporting that the shooter was wearing a Cheesehead Hat from Wisconsin, carrying a Book of Mormon, and sported multiple Mitt Romney bumper stickers on his gas guzzling SUV.

In addition the shooter, currently identified as John Doe may be a member of the Tea Party, as there are several John Does listed on the internet as members of the radical extremist right wing organization hell bent on putting Y'ALL BACK IN CHAINS!

Witnesses reported the shooter said while shooting, "BOOM! MITT'S CANCER DEATH TOUCH OWNED YOU!"

ABC News attempted to contact family members of John Doe, but neighbors say that the suspect recently tossed his granny who was his only living family member now deceased, off a cliff after watching a Paul Ryan Speech.

Reports also indicate that the suspect has not paid taxes in 10 years according to Senate Majority leader Harry Reid and may have once worked at Bain Capitol.

You ever read Freakanomics?

One of the chapters details how lower crime rates in the US at the start of the 80's could be linked to abortion.  The reasoning goes like this:  aborted children don't grow up to be gangbangers.  The author (who claims to be apolitical) looked at the old Romanian policies of anti-abortion creating a huge population of young people who were restless with a lot of time on their hands.

“I didn’t know how much more shooting she was going to do,” said Lee Crider, who got shot in the leg.

The 78-year-old great-grandfather is expected to make a full recovery.

Crider said he was buying beer, whiskey and hot dogs when he heard gunshots.

He said he saw a woman shooting two men and he thought he better try to get involved to get her to stop.

“I swear she wanted to kill them,” said Crider . . . .

“I would have liked to get a hold of her,” said Crider ,who has one regret from his trip to the grocery store.

“I go to a gunfight and don’t bring my gun,” said Crider.

260 173 AtC,

Gays brought the Chicken Chronicles on themselves and the revulsion at their demand Alex.

I fought a lot of Republicans who are my age were fighting to work with our gay friends from the log cabins to get civil unions, you have the right to a legal protection of your loving relationship in the eyes of the law and the Church has insulation from attacks through the separation  legally of marriage.  This was an issue of interest and concern with the Young republicans in 1986-1991 when I was active because already we had seen the unfairness of the stigma in High School.

I am not blaming YOU I am saying as a group that is a cross section of America allowing a lunatic fringe in your ranks that is obvious in their goal of attacking people who disagree as a matter of faith I am duty bound to fight against further encroachment.

That does NOT make me happy by the way because I am allied naturally with sect I hate but they have the right to believe as they will just as act up does or neither have the right.

I spent a lot of what little political capital I had from volunteering advocating to make peace with gays as Clinton rose to power, and the die was cast "all or nothing" by act up.  Had the homosexual community accepted "civil unions" and the offer by the GOP people willing to cross over with the democrats to alter the legal definitions from "marriage" to civil unions legally so the Religious would have been protected and the gays would have had equality it would never have led to the enmity we see on TV today.

My caucus foolishly took for granted that most log cabin republicans would not support the ACT UP version of the agenda to get legal protection, most democrat radicals I suppose were of the mind the removal from the table of a radical agenda's cause would hurt political fervor in that part of the gay community.

I do not know but I do know that I am not happy we do not have a solution other than it being voted down over and over and partisan court rulings inflict it against the will of the electorate.

I am of the opinion this cannot be healthy for a reasoned integration and acceptance of gay couples into the mainstream of society when  it is against the will of the people in the service of a radical fringe of your community's agenda to sue Churches.

Do you disagree?

I am by the way sincere, in being your potential ally and not having problems with gays or bisexuals.  What you do on your time in your life is your business, but why are so many of the people pushing for discord demanding that rather than grant them the same shrug I do my heterosexual contacts who are not deep friends I applaud their particular carnal choice?

Not a flame I am curious, and am known as being polite and respectful on the issue at Hot Air.

I'll back Gay Marriage won by Ballot every time but think the court chasing is ghastly.

Lobbied for civil unions and true total legal equality, just wondering why the need for the drama that likely ramped up shooter loser boy here to go berzerk.....

and I am NOT blaming gays I am blaming the need to weaponize all political discord by every movement's lunatic fringe.

288 198 SF Goth,

the act up wing went nuts and started inflaming the issue we were maybe six months from getting real movement.

If we're going to pretend this is not what happened I'm cool with it.

Whatever.  I was there I know that no SoCons like Mike DeWine were willing to cross over.  I just don't get it.

Why the bargains that were being hammered out at the end of Reagan the beginning of Bush the elder and ready to be worked on under Clinton were not allowed to go on.

I am not saying we are blameless either I know that the partisan rancor was off the hook in 93.

A lot went wrong, but a deal may still have been salvageable had fewer gays gone hard activist when ACT UP started living up to their name.

If I have hurt you with my inelegance of speech I am sorry.  I want this matter solved to the satisfaction of as many Americans as possible.  To a large degree the LGBT community is already on the cusp of swaying opinion, so why do I see so few sensible gays speak out against the antics?

Were Chick-Fil-A not serving gays I would be beside you, was he funding groups advocating violence for gays I would help you.

I cannot help when an activist group crosses the line into rank fascism.

I apologize if I was offensive.

298 Gays brought the Chicken Chronicles on themselves and the revulsion at their demand Alex. Lobbied for civil unions and true total legal equality, just wondering why the need for the drama that likely ramped up shooter loser boy here to go berzerk..... Okay, here's the thing. Several things. A. I read the comments quickly and did not see anywhere that the shooter had walked in expressing outrage about gay marriage. Maybe yes, maybe no, but I am completely and utterly and totally and in every possible way sick of gay marriage and oh noes teh gheys being hauled into everything. It's infuriating. You say you want to fight back, okay, I agree and I am pushing back just as strongly at the need by some people to turn every topic into how horrible them there gays are. It is within the realm of possibility that I overreacted. B. As noted above, let ACT UP in? Let them in? Perhaps you are unaware that I have actually punched someone from ACT UP in the face. ACT UP does not speak for me. ACT UP will never speak for me. You want to know why I ever bothered outing myself to the Horde? To bring to light the fact that the professional Gay Left does not speak for the queer community and that queer conservatives do exist. The Gay Left does not speak for me. I don't care what the MFM thinks, ACT UP and HRC and their ilk do not reflect what I think. The only way to make my voice heard is to get my voice out there and refute that notion. C. In the context of a thread about a shooting, it is incredibly valid to ask precisely what you meant by bringing this one themselves. What? Getting shot? Being blamed for shootings? What? Now, from further context it appears that the discussion was about a pushback on the gay marriage issue. Fine, my fault for reading quickly and not noting the ancillary discussion. Also I agree that the pushback was well earned and well deserved. I should note, though, that if I support Chick Fil A any more strongly than I do, I will grow wings. D. You know I'm against gay marriage right? Hell, I'm against civil recognition of marriage as anything other than a civil union. We don't disagree about that or about how the Gay Left is not to be trusted, at all, regarding this issue. and I am NOT blaming gays I am blaming the need to weaponize all political discord by every movement's lunatic fringe. I trust you comprehend why I find that a bit difficult to accept when the initial comment could fairly be read to state that you were blaming the gays for this incident. Now, in the time it's taken me to type this up, it could turn out that the shooter was an ACT UP member or is gay or whatever. I completely accept that is a possibility. My response was to what I perceived as a knee jerk reaction to place blame on the gay community with then sketchy evidence. tl;dr - I overread your statement, we don't actually disagree on that much and I apologize for lashing out.

304 300 Alex,

B) I know that was not my intent and I am sorry.  I have been ruminating on this and the shooting and the politcal alliance had me type that.  I know the gay community is not a monolith, I also know that liberal gays are absolute bullies and assholes to straights.  I have log cabin friends.

My favorite Karate competition welding cousin is a gay republican.

I did not mean to imply, impugn or infer that the gays as a unimind are steeplechasing this drama.

I apologize.

D) my point of view as well, what had the deal near to being cut was the definition under law of all relationships through marriage license as being "civil unions" some on the GOP side blanched at that and then as I was about 7 steps away from ground zero when it happened....

BOOM

Hell you may know more than me about the thing falling apart.

Again I am sorry, sincerely it was not my intent to say GAYZ HAXXORZ!

I would hope that if anything any of your fellow gay friends would understand that we are not hetero, striaght, male, female, republican, democrat, libertarian whatever...

we're morons.

and inasmuch as is possible given these little collections of 111s and 000s in the way we are friends.

310 310 BM,

I am hoping the nation as a whole takes a long hard look at the "cult of victimization" industry left and right after this election....

Best result would be a happy scrapping of all affirmative action laws and "special protection" laws and a societal shift to egalitarianism as a cornerstone of our culture.

If the best man for a job is a man hire him, a woman hire her, gay, straight whatever....

all this noise, all these lost efficiencies chasing a dynamic that is not correctable without pressure anyway which is bias and misuse of power.

312 If you want to end discrimination based on race, then quit discriminating based on race. If you want to end discrimination based on sexual preference, then quit discriminating based on sexual preference. And so on. The time for protected classes has long since passed. Members of current protected classes need to make a choice: do you want to be a victim or an equal? By definition, you can't be both.

313 Be sure to let the southern poverty law center know that they contributed to this by labeling FRC a "hate group" and other nice things. A few years ago, I had some old two-cent stamps left over. I had bought them to get my old stamps up to the new first-class rate, but I ran out of the old first-class stamps. Every once in a while, I'd slap one onto an empty envelope addressed to the SPLC's donations address and drop it in the mail. They had a postage-due deal tied in with their business reply account for that address. Every time I did this, they got dinged for two cents less than whatever USPS was charging per piece on their business reply account plus whatever they were paying the jackass who had to open the empty envelope with no donation inside.
