All you need in order to be an Obama speechwriter is to have completed ten minutes of actual work in 2009, and be proficient with a copy machine thereafter.
What a clown. Wouldn't you alert your speechwriters if you've delivered this speech already?
But it seems likely he doesn't remember having said all this before, because he's just reading aloud and never really internalized the meaning the first time.

This is not the way a Christian refers to Jesus. It is the way a muslim might refer to Jesus if appearing at a Christian prayer breakfast.

To be fair to Romney that happens a lot during campaigns. I watched a ton of McCain, Palin, and Obama rallies in 2008 and they used the same speeches all the time. With so many campaign stops necessary you simply can't have a new speech for each one it just isn't feasible. Now what you don't see Mitt doing is giving the same speech he gave 4 years ago and trying to pass it off as something new.

Yeah. I mean, not everyone thinks Jesus is the Son of God. I get that. But for someone who proclaims himself to be Christian and say these words? It's inconceivable to me. I mean, the phrase "Jesus is the Son of God" is kind of automatic for a Christian. You don't even think about it because the words are so internalized.
It would be like saying "Our Father who art in Cleveland." The words just don't come out like that.
But for someone tone-deaf to the faith because he is not part of it, for someone raised as a muslim who sees Jesus as a lesser prophet, yeah.
And at an Easter breakfast ???? He didn't even catch himself. That's how clueless he is . He doesn't know he made a gaffe. Like when he said corpseman.

No he's a secular humanist. That's why he is so casual about talking about any religion. He thinks all of them are a joke. Like the "compromise" he handed to the Catholics, whom, he likely thought, were also secular humanists who were just using the Church to control the masses. Imagine his surprise when he found out they actually believe all that stuff.

But, seriously. Read the post from Althouse about how if only President Dreamboat would just lie to her again, bring back some of that old time gospel of 2008, she will be happy to vote for him.
That is someone who seriously considers herself a moderate--and get's angry if challenged on that--who is breaking her spine bending over backward to find a reason to vote for him again.
That is who we are up against.
We have almost no chance of convincing those who voted for the JEF last time to vote for Romney.
We must convince them to stay home.

I overspoke on that one entirely. I was typing too fast and watching something else in the background. If I could take that back I would.
More specifically I was just trying to say that that the distinctions between them may be hard to draw, and if Obama can leverage that (by saying "we're the same so stick with me") and at the same time alienate the more right voters completely from Romney it could be troublesome in the general.
Allow me to be entirely clear however, Romney is not the deathknell of the republican party, he's not my first choice, but I didn't like the crop much at all and he's still miles above Obama.

First off, if all of your readers misunderstand you, it's probably not their fault.
Secondly, when they're completely destroying your weak position, again, it's not their fault.

I think you're talking about the schism between the Jerusalem Church, which was clearly Jewish, and the Pauline converts, who were Gentiles. The Jews valued their Jewishness as making them chosen. Paul taught the gentiles that blood and compliance with Jewish law didn't matter; acceptance of Jesus made you more chosen than a Jew.
Paul's position took root as what is Christianity and the Jerusalem Church was essentially destroyed in the First Jewish War of 66 AD.

There were many varied Christian beliefs before the Council of Nicene. The Nostic Scriptures are proof of that.
One sect of Christians believed that only women could be filled with the Holy Spirit and the only way they could share that spirit with men was to have sex with them.

I'm afraid Romney will be the death of the Republican party... but not for the reason most think.
The economic implosion will hit as soon as the Fed Reserve Board wants it to... and raises interest rates. The economy is being prop'd up by printing money, and 'loaning' it at no interest to banks, who then buy Federal Debt (which they do earn interest on)....
The whole house of cards is doomed to come down... unless someone REALLY takes a hatchet to the Federal Budget...
Romney is not the person to do that... so he will be in office when the bubble bursts, and the real depression begins... and so will get the blame.
The Dems will scream its all the Repubs fault... and the Repubs will not effectivly fight back... and the Repub 'brand' will be so diminished that somthing else will rise to take its place, in a few election cycles...

Have a little faith. We have over a trillion barrels of oil that could be recovered. We have a near infinite supply of natural gas. So much coal, we couldn't burn it in 100 years.
None of it is more than 3 years away with an administration who will eliminate the red tape.

I'm not so sure the Council really straightened anything out. It was purely a political move by Emporer Constantine of Rome. If one really reads the Bible, it's evident that the Council had to jump through some strange hoops to get the scripture we have now. A lot of deletions, word parsing and finally outright terrorism to squelch any other interpretations.

I wouldn't say that. Most "moderates" are low-information types who don't pay attention to politics until the week before they cast their vote. It's how guys like Obama can get away with bald-faced lies: the "moderates" don't actually pay attention to what he does, only what he says.
It's why the economy is such a big deal. It informs the moderate beyond the platitudes.

The thing with the Gnostics is that they really didn't have a Scripture beyond the Old Testament. They had a huge *library* instead, of more-or-less authoritative works. That's why each sect needed a elite caste to interpret it all. AFAIK, the only two sects which insisted on a manageable New Testament canon were the Marcionites and the proto-Orthodox.
The proto-Orthodox had actually agreed on most of what we have in our New Testament - and they mostly got it right, too. 2 Peter doesn't really belong, and it sucks for today's Catholics that 1 Clement got excluded. (Fortunately 1 Clement at least didn't get *lost*. All Christians should read this. Didache, too.)
Agreed that Nicaea was mainly political grandstanding.
I'm by no means a fan of Conservatism, and I'm pretty ambivalent on Christianity, but Conservatives and mainline Christians are - to the best of my knowledge - correct that mainline Christianity (including everything from Orthodox to Baptists) have an unbroken line of descent to the first century AD and a canon of Scripture which is almost perfect. Perfect enough to support mainline Christianity, anyway.

Reminds me, a good time for me to mention, they cant pester me about Bush because I never actually voted for him. (I never voted until 2010 when the dems scared the shit out of me)

Which is exactly why there's now a "war on women" and a "war on blacks" and a "war on the 99%" etc. Throw the biggest plate of spaghetti at the 'fridge and hope like hell something, anything!, sticks.
And the likes of Althouse are giving him "campaign advice" on how to further his con. Way to go, Ann. Pitch a bullshit rhetorical device, called a lie to the laymen, to get the radical - oops, I mean moderate - a fighting chance even though it's just so glaringly obvious that that's not what you're really trying to do because, well, we just don't get you.

I only occassionally comment on Althouse. And every time I do, no matter what I'm saying, I plainly state that she voted for Obama and everything she says ought to be viewed through that kaleidoscope.
and thank God, Jane

My husband was just telling me about how he had to discipline a subordinate today. Told him that he was right on the facts but now that he wasn't at DoJ anymore, he couldn't go out and just be a dick.

You'd better hope they do exist, or the 52% will be back.

The House simply needs to kill it until next year when the commies have been sent packing. They need to send it to the trash can and tell Dingy Harry that from now on they will not accept any bills that contain off topic laws in it. IOW highway bills are for highways, nothing else.

For the first time today, I considered the possibility that SCOTUS overturns Obamacare... and that Obama continues to implement it anyway.

Guys a black liberation theorist, he is a Marxist, Lenin, Stalin wannabee, congrats on getting me to listen, but it doesn't change the fact that Obama is A Stutterring Clusterfuck Of A Miserable Failure and the worst President ever.
His second term should be spent in a max security prison.

This is hilarious, and at the same time, scary that so many consider him the Chosen Won. I will email this to many tonight.

@ 296 Those numbers in the Wisconsin Republican primary are no fluke - I have a feeling that is the same kind of turnout we will have in the General Election because people want him OUT.
