— Ace As Winston Wolf's paternal uncle and famed chicken-farmer Walter Wadsworth Wolf observed, "Let's not start plucking eachother's cocks just yet."
But the chickens are come a-roost.
The end hasn’t come yet, not quite. But you can feel it coming, a dull, oppressive presence like the heaviness of the air before a storm or the quickly widening fissures that consumed the House of Usher. Future historians, looking back on the wreck of the Obama administration, will mark with wonder the president’s darkly frivolous assertion of executive privilege this week. It was then, they will say, that his administration, that the President himself, officially entered the Period of Panic and Flailing. It’s not going to be pretty. Expect a season of recriminations, grandiosities, and sudden reversals. The usual narrative holds that Obama asserted executive privilege, denying Congress the documents it requested in the murderous case of gunwalking called “Fast and Furious” in order to save his Attorney General Eric Holder. Perhaps. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if, at the end of the day, this spectacular piece of recklessness wasn’t regarded as the beginning of the end for Eric Holder, who will likely face a Contempt of Congress citation next week.
I don't know if Fast & Furious itself will sink him. I don't think the swing bloc which will decide the election knows much about Fast & Furious, or would even care much if they bothered to inform themselves.
As I've said, I don't think they do their homework.
But this is a dangerous thing for Obama, even among people who don't do their homework. At some point they take a look at all the questions they would have to resolve in Obama's favor in order to vote for him, and decide: The hell with that. That's too much work. I'd have to do an awful lot of homework just to feel comfortable clearing Obama of all this accumulate crap. It's just easier to assume he's halfway guilty on all of it.
And that's how I think people who don't do their homework tend to think. They split the difference.
But even splitting the difference does not look good for Obama. Not when you also have to say (if you're determined to not do your homework, and just split the difference on everything), "Well, he's not really responsible for the depression per se, but he sure doesn't seem to have done much to reverse it." Because the economy is so horrible (and getting worse, not better), "splitting the difference" is a posture that is lethal for Obama's reelection chances. If he's half responsible for a depression, and only credited for half-measures that half-worked, he's halfway out of the White House already.
I often chide people for mistaking independent, disinterested voters for conservatives. You can't mistake them for argument-loving, passionate partisans for your cause -- obviously they're not that, or they would be argument-loving, partisans for your cause.
But that's exactly what Obama needs them to be -- passionate partisans on his side -- in order for him to prevail. All of these independents who don't really follow the news too closely would have to suddenly decide to read a lot of left-wing blogs and stew themselves in left-wing apologias for Obama, before they could feel comfortable clearing Obama of all charges and criticisms.
Just as there is no way in hell they'd do that on behalf of a conservative candidate, there's also no way in hell they're going to do that on behalf of Obama. The amount of homework -- in this case, massive quantities of Kool-Aid drinking -- they'd have to do to find in favor of Obama is just too much.
I was saying two years ago that my Secret Bonus Prediction is that Obama might choose to not actually run for reelection. Although we're into election season now, we're not past the conventions.
I do expect things to get worse for Obama. I do expect the long-predicted preference cascade to show up in polls. And I do expect that the polls will register -- at least a month before the election, if not sooner -- that Obama has no realistic shot at winning the election.
Whether he steps aside or not will depend on when the public's Obama Fever (and associated Obama Hallucinatory Disorder) finally breaks. If he's got time left to bow out, he just might.
And on Fast and Furious in particular-- the press can thank itself for pushing this into campaign season. If they'd done their jobs properly, and pressured Holder to be forthcoming with answers about a massive hostile covert operation against Mexico including 2500 guns and 300 deaths, this issue might be long past. Holder might have either disclosed or resigned, and it all might be a half-remembered scandal.
But they didn't. Once again, they Loved Their Liberal Champions To Death. They loved Obama so much they never even asked "Is this constitutional?" Had they asked, they might have prevented a political, and soon to be legal, catastrophe.
They're his Number One Fans.
But Number One Fans sometimes don't realize how much harm they do.

Yesterday, Michelle told us Obama loves us like a husband.
Today, they want us to make Obama the center of our birthday, wedding, and anniversary celebrations. And send him the gifts (in the form of money, please).
You don't have to know that much about the guy to be seriously creeped out by this.

But the polls have me worried. Either people are lying, or the pollsters are lying. If not, then what the f*ck is going on? How can we be deluding ourselves this badly? How can so many people still like Obama to make this as close a race as the polls tell us?

I have a recurring daydream that the communications satellites that keep most media 'on the air' were to suddenly drop from the sky, and the Internet was reverted to 1997, thus forcing everyone out of their echo chambers. I wonder sometimes who would deal better in that scenario...then I look at what we have, and I stop wondering.

I still think that Obama's going to have a public breakdown of some type, especially if the debate (and I will be stunned if there's more than one) goes the way I suspect it will. Hell, he might have it during the debate.
I would be unsurprised if there is polling right now about if Hillary! has a chance and if she does if there's not some back door deals being cut.

They can choose the man who can give them things such as gay marriage; more illegal residents; more excuses; more magazine covers; more unemployment; more public burden; high gas prices; more uncertainty; and some raving old buffoon standing next to him.
Or voters can choose the man who will deliver economic prosperity and sensibe energy policies.

Approaching THE END? The Republicans will be eschewed every bit as much as Obama's administration by conservative voters if they fail to nail responsibility via Congressional impeachment proceedings against Obama and Holder. F&F is not "water under the bridge". Coupled with executive ordered "Dream Act", the F&F program is a US ATF assault against the US Constitution, arming the illegal aliens with US tax funded firearms and ammo.

The ObamaCare FINAL SOLUTION in Britain:
There are around 450,000 deaths in Britain each year of people who are in hospital or under NHS care. Around 29 per cent – 130,000 – are of patients who were on the LCP. Professor Pullicino claimed that far too often elderly patients who could live longer are placed on the LCP and it had now become an ‘assisted death pathway rather than a care pathway’. He personally intervened on behalf of a 71-year-old who was admitted to hospital suffering from pneumonia and epilepsy was put on the LCP by a covering doctor on a weekend shift. Pullicino successfully treated the patient, proving that claims they were doomed to die within hours or days are ‘palpably false’.

Obama and his ilk are the ones who are so used to having others take care of their mistakes for them that they never understand that made a mistake in the first place.
It's that "magic thinking" that we hear so much about - they honestly think that they themselves are responsible for good results (or they leave before TSHTF, and never see the chaos that they leave behind).
Honestly, they don't understand why all of this "bad" stuff is happening, and I don't doubt that they truly believe that those on the right are conspiring to make them look bad. They are only used to their protective cocoons, and have never had much in the way of direct opposition.
Everyone is expecting them to "come out of it" and miraculously save the day for the Dems - it isn't going to happen, because the folks at the top don't recognize that they don't know how to fix things.
And they've run off too many of the people who might have been able to help them pull their asses out of the fire.....

The party would never, ever, even hint that he should go. Even if someone did in private, it would be the most closely held secret in Washington.
No, Obama will come to the decision to drop out because of his ego. He canÂ’t stand the idea of losing and being the reason for a massive defeat. HeÂ’s not retarded, heÂ’ll look at his options and, as heÂ’s has done his entire life, he will pick the one that is best for Barack Obama.
He will take the campaign money and declare that he will run for president again, when the country is over the partisan hysterics and racist tone it is in today. He is ready to lead, but the country has just not matured to the point that they are ready to follow. Much more bullshit will follow.

On this, LaRouche was correct while the RNC Chair Steele never responded to his own poll perpetually wondering whether or not to call Obama a socialist.
Four years later, Republican Leadership finally begin to hint that Obama is a socialist. It's as if the Republicans are dangling on Obama's apron strings, wondering whether or not to let go. McCain, "but this is a campaign season, we mustn't rock anyone's boat!"

The President Of the United States of America:
Believing as I do, I have concluded that I should not permit the Presidency to become involved in the partisan divisions that are developing in this political year.
With America's sons being shot on our borders far away, with America's future under challenge right here at home, with our hopes and the world's hopes for me shutting the fuck up, I do not believe that I should devote an hour or a day of my time to any personal partisan causes or to any duties other than the awesome duties of this office--the Presidency of your country.
Accordingly, I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your President.
(But I will still go golfing every day. So suck it biotches)
This concludes the Address to the Nation by The President (for now) of the United States of America.

@70 When in history did a President decline to run for re-election because they thought they'd lose?
1968 - LBJ - " I shall not seek and I will not accept the nomination of my party as your President."
"What we have won when all our people were united must not be lost in partisanship. I have concluded that I should not permit the Presidency to become involved in partisan decisions."
Mr. Johnson, acknowledging that there was "division in the American house," withdrew in the name of national unity, which he said was "the ultimate strength of our country."

If he drops out 2 to 3 weeks prior to the convention, Hillary will be the nominee by acclamation then all bets are off. I often chide people for mistaking independent, disinterested voters for conservatives.
Not all independants are disinterested. There's no proof of that, that these elections are being decided by this mythical middle of mush-heads.
Jonah Goldberg was arguing with Matt Welch the other day, as he has before, that these people are a very very small fraction of the electorate and not as big as they are made out to be.
Because it is made out that everyone who likes to posture themselves in the middle is one of these confused mushheads who don't know what's going on, but we know that isn't true. Many, many people posture in the middle without actually being there, they are hacktastic partisans with firm ideological views, which they arbitrarily declare to be in the middle and centrist.
The other thing to keep in mind is that not all people eligible to vote, vote. Winning a vote is not just a game of getting that 2% of a static electorate. You can MAKE voters.
Frankly, I think among the people who are not paying any attention to politics (and often not voting), there are more mush-heads, and more communists, and more rock-ribbed conservatives out there than any candidate will ever get to polls all at once.
It's not static.

not even the DNC Convention officially hired whores that the freelance Republican burglars meant to expose when caught.
Watergate was Nixon's downfall not for ordering a burglary, but upon discovery that it happened, in ordering a cover-up rather than hanging those asshats out to dry, chips fall where they may. Then the question of lying under oath, rather than persist insisting that he wasn't a crook, he folded just as he did when he allowed the Kennedy victory from what he felt had been massive voter fraud, for the good of the nation's unity, to maintain the continuity from one administration to the next.
There is NO COMPARISON between Nixon's Watergate and Obama's entirely unconstitutional administration, of which Fast and Furious is but one of his administration's illegally programmed conspiracies.
Though Nixon meant to expand Executive Powers, and though he was Kissinger's puppet, Nixon still held the Constitution in regard. Whereas, Obama has no place in his legacy for the US Constitution. Obama has spent his entire administration destroying Constitutional Governance.

I believe the American people will tire of being labeled racists.
I believe that Americans don't like people in the WH flipping off portraits of former presidents.
Americans are tired of being worried about dwindling retirement accounts, being in homes that are upside down, food prices, and the high cost of living with no end in sight.
52% of the American public were fooled and enamored once. Those days have passed.
OWS, Obamacare, F&F, amnesty, etc. etc.

But that's exactly what Obama needs them to be -- passionate partisans on his side -- in order for him to prevail."
That's the thing the pundits don't seem to quite get here. President Obama isn't popular enough to glide into victory as an incumbent, people have to really be on his side to want him back in office, and hardly anyone is in that position. Even blacks who will vote for the black dude over ANYONE else will not get out in very big numbers this time around. Its one thing to say "yeah well he's my man" and its another to say "and I'll go out of my way to make sure he stays in office while I go for my unemployment check as food prices keep going up."
This is the first election in a while in which both sides are reduced to saying "better than the other guy" and that means doom for the incumbent in this political atmosphere, particularly with the economy the way it is.

The disinterested voters that call themselves Independents are mostly people that want to believe that we can afford wide-spread social spending. They don't mind wealth-redistribution as long as they don't have to pay higher taxes.
The magnitude of the SCOAMF's spending and the lack of results has the Independents rubbing the sleep out of their eyes, looking around and saying WTF! A $16 trillion national debt, high fuel prices, increased food prices and high unemployment does not let disinterested voters feel comfortable about the circumstances the nation is in. They are going to look for someone to blame (not themselves, that would require self-examination) -- either President Obama or the Republican-majority House. I think most of the disinterested voters are going to have an instinctual reaction against Obama once they get in the voting booth.

"I do expect the long-predicted preference cascade to show up in polls."
I'm not sure I buy into the preference cascade but I do know human beings are biologically hard-wired as hierarchical animals, a group dynamic upon which all leadership principles are based. A leader cannot be perceived as weak in a conflict situation and remain leader for long and by 'perceived' I don't mean what the headlines say; I mean what a given leader's body language, tone of voice, posture, and bearing transmits to those being led.
Jimmy Carter didn't necessarily lose in 1980 because his policies were terrible and his decisions were wrong (although they were). FDR had equally awful and ineffectual domestic policies yet managed to keep winning elections. Carter lost because he looked like the beta loser to Ronald Reagan's alpha winner on national television.

Second, doing so would basically be admitting disastrous failure on the part of the Democratic Party. We suck so bad our own president bailed on the election. And if you think Hillary can step up to the plate and win, you don't really understand women voters. Sure, some of them love her to pieces but the rest? First, Palin still has a pretty large base. If you don’t think so, look at people she’s endorsed and how they did in the primaries. Second, floating the “Palin is being vetted” story brings the subject into the press so that Mitt’s surrogates have the opportunity to beat up the MSM about screwing with candidate’s families. Third, after Mitt picks the VP, he would still be able to use Palin as an attack dog and to pump the base.
ThatÂ’s how itÂ’s done in politics.

It still remains explicitly urgent to enforce the Constitutional Article requiring that every POTUS be a "natural born citizen" -- define the meaning according to both parents being US citizens and the candidate having been born on American territory; and define the onus to be on each candidate to produce his/her own proof of "natural born citizenship" before allowed on any ballot.
Don't argue that Davis' illegitimate son Barry, being a natural born citizen fucked up doodoo, proves irrelevant the Founders' wise requirement. It was the lack of Obama's credibility tolerated by everyone except those ridiculed as tinfoiled hatters.
That Barry was stuck in his virtual reality and dragged the world into it via Soros and international donor propaganda is a painful lesson learned. Require birth records AND transcripts of all presidential candidates. Hell, Congress passed an unconstitutional comprehensive campaign finance reform package. It isn't impossible to keep a bill concise. Letting the unknown, unproven, undocumented candidate onto ballot as "unworthy a fight" proved completely and predictably foolish, destructive and far too expensive in losses and debt. And given Obama's executive ordered Dream Act and the Republican Leadership and Mitt go along to get along, this matter of "natural born citizen" matters as much as ever if not more, given the influx of illegal aliens "ordered" unconstitutionally/magically into legal residents, amnesty soon to be revised into citizenship.

I think we will see the JEF's plan set sometime between the day after the first debate and the day after the second debate.
If Romney sticks to Unemployment and the Economy, and avoids ObamaCare (the expected SCOTUS overturn gives the JEF a Victim Card) and Immigration (it needs to be left alone, or F and F needs to always be mentioned), then the JEF has na record of failure, theft, ... and the Nation will see this.
I expect to see the beginnings of a mass exodus of the Left, starting in late July: retirements, resignations to "spend more time with the family", acceptance of acadmic/private-sector jobs, etc. ... and muted vows to continue the fight ...
... much like the apparatchik evacuation of Berlin in early 1945 ...

I've speculated that Obama's dramatic pandering moves of late (e.g. on gay marriage, illegal immigration) might not (just) be about ginning up votes and funds from his base, might not (just) be about trying to win the election. After all, such moves are political gambles that may well lose Obama at least as many votes as they gain.
What such stunts do is provide Obama with a way to save face, to cushion and indeed flatter his ego, if/when he loses the election-- especially in the eyes of his liberal base. They're a way for Obama to retain his "historic, unprecedented" image (first black gay Mexican etc. POTUS), and a way for the MSM to explain a humiliating Carter-like loss that's actually a compliment to Obama.
They can say O was ahead of his time, too good for us, bravely did the right yet politically risky things, things that bigoted stupid Americans were too retrograde to appreciate-- and that's why he lost. Obama lost because Americans are homophobic xenophobic bigots... not because Obama's a SCOAMF.
I think Obama's narcissistic personality is more concerned about protecting and gratifying his ego than about a second term as POTUS per se. An electoral defeat would be crushing not so much because he'd lose the opportunity of a second term (honestly I suspect Obama despises most of what the presidenting job turned out to be, he thought it would be a piece of cake and he'd be the bestest preezy ever, didn't turn out that way); but rather because he would have to suffer the humiliation of *rejection*. But if that defeat can be rationalized and explained in a way doesn't just compliment but glorifies him-- he lost because he's too good for us, and history will crown him with the glory that stupid bigoted voters denied him-- then that defeat won't sting as much.
Indeed, if (as it sometimes seems) Obama is sick of presidenting (as opposed to campaigning and lapping up adulation from celebrities), then an electoral defeat that paradoxically bathes him in glory would be the best of all worlds for him. Of course he'd be deluding himself, but narcissistic delusion goes a long way.

"Iwonder why the laser focus on this particular group of immigrants. The other night I was out and about and it suddenly struck me: the entire Obama war machine is so focused on the "Latin" Brown people, they're ignoring the significant Asian immigrant population, including those from the subcontinent. These people for the most part are educated and entrepreneurial...I don't know their voting habits, but I can't imagine they're terribly socialistic and lib/dem loving."
It seems clear to me: they're importing a new working class, to replace the white bitter-clingers. A working class that'll keep its head down and its mouth shut and vote the way its betters tell it. And if the collapse of wages for working-class jobs forces the bitter clingers into poverty, so much the better.
It's all about building up your allies and tearing down your enemies: the Chicago way, writ large.
