CBS supplies more fuel to the Trayvon Inferno. [krakatoa]

So now CBS has an interview with the funeral director who handled Trayvon's body.

The Florida funeral director who handled the burial of Trayvon Martin says there were no signs of a scuffle on the dead teen, contradicting the story of the man who claimed he killed Martin during a violent scuffle. Martin died of a gunshot, the only apparent injury says the funeral director.

Call me crazy - actually, call me racist - but doesn't this description pretty much support what Zimmerman said: He was attacked, knocked down w/ one punch and then the attack continued by pounding Zimmerman's head into the sidewalk?

It supports the idea that he could have legitimately feared for his life if he was so unable to physically respond to the attack. It suggests that he never initiated physical contact with Trayvon.

The MSM is so intent on the narrative and so blind to the possibility that Trayvon may have been the aggressor that they don't even understand their own reporting adds weight to Zimmerman's claims.

That's our MSM. Have agenda, will "Furnish the War".

Been a while since I've been in a fistfight, but I had knuckle abrasions. If Martin does not have any sign of knuckle abrasions, it could be an indication that Zimmerman's story is bogus. The PD should have examined Martin's body for any signs before handing it over to the mortuary. If they did, then the results should be in the PD report.

15 I'm less than thrilled that the funeral director broke the basic code of not discussing the dead. As far as I know, he's not a coroner or in any way able to render a legal or medical opinion about a body he prepares for burial or cremation.

I've been in a few scraps, and then several years of sparring in full-contact, no-pad martial arts. Broken a few boards with punches, and punched a lot of people. (None with bad intent since the scrapping days in high school).

Unless you hit someone in the teeth, it wasn't all that easy to cut up my knuckles.

Punching someone in the back of the head or the neck or the jaw? Not likely to abrade your knuckles.

On the other hand, a 17-year old kid is probably going to punch with an improperly closed fist, and if he hits bone at all, do something to at least bruise his fingers and knuckles. You probably know how hard it is to learn to make a proper fist and hit properly.

I suppose that is true enough for many, but I'd say that most the kids I grew up with knew how to make a proper fist and throw a solid punch without any formal training.

Boys will be boys, and all that. The only times I hurt my knuckles in high school were on a giant belt buckle going for a body shot, and a backfist into someone's mouth.

-police have all the details necessary to make and arrest and conviction inside an hour and if they don't then they are in on it.

And I keep thinking of Trayvons facebook/twitter persona, which could leave one to believe that Trayvon would be familiar with the urban drug culture, and it's unique vernacular.
And I realize that there is no reference to video from the 7-11 showing him at the store.

You don't get it. Choosing a flawed victim is part and parcel of the strategy. The Reds don't want resolution; they want uproar, the better to agitate among the disaffected. The ideal for them is to stir up the disaffected on an issue on which they won't get their way, so that the Reds can use that to convince them not to support the system. They want to lose the battle, to help them win the war.

Think of the mileage the Reds got out of the 2000 election, or out of that asshole Mumia, or the Rosenbergs, or ... the list is endless.

Good point. This happened Feb 26, and the media didn't latch onto the story for a good 3 weeks. Why would this funeral director have any memory at all of what Trayvon's knuckles looked like? How noticebly visible would bruised knuckles be on a person with very dark skin? Enough to make a mental note of it a month later?

77 Also recall that, as far as we know, the only punch Zimmerman reported was the one which broke his nose. Not exactly one I would expect to do noticeable damage to the knuckles. I maintain that nobody but Zimmerman knows who initiated the altercation that night, but I haven't heard anything so far that undermines his self-defense story sufficiently to warrant an arrest.

His father stated that to the police, but retracted it to the media after the lawyers and Sharpton got involved.

Having done some boxing in my youth and worked a lot of manual labor jobs in my formative years my own hands, in particular the knuckles, have a layer of protective callouses and quite a bit of hardened tissue. As a result a guy like me could probably hit someone hard enough, repeatedly, and not have any noticeable abrasions on my hands after the fact. A lot of street kids also like wearing large, protruding rings on multiple fingers of both hands with the same thought in mind, it protects their hands from impact during a scuffle. "The PD should have examined Martin's body for any signs before handing it over to the mortuary. If they did, then the results should be in the PD report." I have no doubt the coroner did, but the results of his examination probably won't be made public.

B) The Funeral Director is hired by the family to prepare the body for burial, that hardly makes him an independent and unbiased witness.

The one thing that could resolve this is the pictures from Mr. Zimmerman's head and a statement from the ambulance crew that treated him that night.

The police are forensics investigators that always arive at the scene after someone has called them to intervene. They will have taken pictures of Zimmerman and Martin and until they release them this BS is going to continue.

The funeral director, did he stay at a Day's Inn? If not he has had as much media exposure as a medical fraud as he needs to have.

Funeral Director says that he does not have the medical experience to determine any more about chest wound.

150 Why is that these "after the news broke" witnesses tell stories that they think are gonna burn Zimmerman, but actually corroborate Zimmerman's account -

- Girlfriend virtually quotes Zimmerman's police statement of when Martin & he met. Furthermore, her pleading Martin to run / getaway /whatever would hardly be necessary since Zimmerman had already lost sight of him.

- Dad says he thought Martin was with a cousin which would mean he was not a guest of a resident in the subdivision (if cousin was a resident then just say so).

- The above notwithstanding, supporters have said that this all went down only a hundred feet from Martin's 'Home'. Never mind Martin did not live there, Review of tapes showed that Zimmerman lost sight of Martin for about two minutes... Martin could have went inside and ate his skittles in that time. Why would a guest being hanging out in a strange neighborhood waiting to 'whatever' about somebody he saw on the sidewalk?

Apparently dad and his GF didn't notice all cop cars and ambulances lighting up the subdivision from 7:30 pm to 3:30 am. Does anybody know if Martin's Dad was actually a guest in the subdivision or someplace else?

Same question WRT Zimmerman - Oddly, there is a home there, coincidentally owned by somebody named 'Zimmerman'. I four Zimmerman were to stand in 'Zimmerman's' driveway, he would have been in a position to see Martin approach him from the clubhouse (due north of this house), and see Martin go away (due east of this house) to the spot where the shiite went down.

The ambulance crew would have written a report and described Zimmerman's visible injuries. What is rather ironic is the fact that due to HIPA, the police can't get the medic's report without a subpoena (easy enough to get, though).

If I had been investigating the incident scene, I would have taken photographs and measurements of the scene and location of Martin's body. Also would have photographs of Zimmerman's visible injuries. From what I've been able to piece together, Sanford PD interviewed several witnesses at the scene and took Zimmerman to the station in handcuffs. The case law is very clear that Zimmerman was in a custodial interrogation at that point. A complex investigation takes time and sometimes it's better to not make an immediate arrest in order to not start the "timely trial clock." Hell, I've charged people with homicide charges MONTHS later.

Ultimately, the local prosecutor's office didn't agree with the investigators on being able to prove a criminal charge. I've not always agreed with the prosecutors when they wouldn't file felony charges on my cases. However, they are thinking about proving a criminal case beyond a reasonable doubt while we cops only need probable cause to make an arrest. Hopefully, the grand jury makes its vote on the facts and not based in fear of a lynch mob.

There is the standard "No pressure, no blood moving into the tissue" answer.

There is the "This is not absolutely correct" answer, which I read as having a different meaning than "This is absolutely not correct".

Overall it seems that impact on an area with minimal tissue, for example, knuckle area, would more than likely not have visible bruising.

I still consider the entire "Undertaker says there was no sign of struggle" a red hearing of minimal importance.

On the other hand, I am delighted to see a report that states that Zimmerman did not receive any fatal injuries in the attack.
Makes it easier to understand why he didn't die in the attack.

The cops where going to charge him and they have all the evidence needed for a conviction until the prosecutor over ruled them because they are more versed in the stand you ground/self defense law than the cops. This just has to be solved in a court with a judge and not a press conference.

Some of the web sites call lividity (which is when the blood pools in the body after death, at the lowest points of the body) "post mortem bruising." So it's confusing to people who don't understand what lividity is. If a person dies from hanging (and isn't cut down for a day or so), the blood will pool in the lowest part of their body -- their feet and lower part of their legs. That will cause the skin on their feet and lower legs to "bruise" or appear darker than the skin on the rest of their body. If a person dies in bed lying on their back (and the body isn't moved for a while), the body will show lividity (darkened skin) on the back side of their body (where the blood pooled). When bodies are moved after they've died, you can cause "post mortem bruising" by changing the body position, and therefore altering the lividity, but it's not really "bruising" in the way that bruises happen to a person who's alive with a functioning circulatory system.
