College Bowl Pickem Final Results
— Dave in Texas

Top Ten:

1 skinny LR 24 of 35 489pts
2 BearMageddon 26 of 35 481pts
3 Offensive or Obscene Name 27 of 35 480pts
4 I R A Darth Aggie 24 of 35 478pts
5 SCTV Network 90 26 of 35 474pts
6 RableRable 22 of 35 473pts
7 SockPuppetSteve 22 of 35 472pts
7 huerfano 25 of 35 472pts
9 misterdregs 24 of 35 468pts
10 waelse1 25 of 35 466pts

Remember everyone got to assign a confidence point value from 1 to 35 for each pick. So picking Alabama was worth 20 points to Skinny, but it was worth 35 to IRA Darth Aggie - he bet the farm on that one. The x of y thing is how many winners you picked.

Good show morons, and Happy Humpday.

9 OT I warned about this. On Rush from the hill.com: Romney: "What I did at Bain is the same thing Obama did when he took the reigns of GM and Chrysler"

I said the only way Romney could screw up on defending himself against the attacks from the left coming from his own party, was to go even farther left in defense.

All he had to do was defend Adam Smith style capitalism and he would have secured the base. Nope.

Well well; Mr. Perfect ain't really so.

15 HARRY BELAFONTE: When I think of Barack Obama and I think about all that is at stake here IÂ’ve really long since left talking about how many terms he will be as a president. My question is what legacy will he leave having had the opportunity to serve under such hugely dramatic circumstances and boggled the mind and boggled peopleÂ’s thinking and had such a huge impact on the universal state of things. And how could he have had such a splendid opportunity to do more than most presidents would have ever been able to do and he let that opportunity slip away from him. And I am very cautious of the fact of those who thinks that he has some hidden agenda and that if only he could be given a second term for us to see the new light new things will be revealed. A new efforts will be made to take us to a place other than where we have been and where we languish.I just donÂ’t trust that. I donÂ’t think that a safe way an accurate way to look at the scenario. I think if there was the kind of moral compass serving Barack Obama in the way we had all hoped, the moral force would have helped him make choices. The absence of that force in his equations the absence of that barometer to guide him when he has to make these decision which are hugely complicated, especially from the political perspective. He should have come to the table with things that I think would have helped us in this moment of crisis.

I can't stand adults who engage in child-like thinking. What do you give a shit what other people believe for the Afterlife? Why can't people believe what they want to believe? Besides, if you're that fucking simple-minded, then you don't know jackshit about Christianity.

Mommy, Why Aren't I Going To Heaven When I Die?
by Soothsayer

Chapter 1

Look, kiddo, it's like this: You're not going to Heaven because you did not accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. If you did, you'd be covered under the Blood of Christ through the New Convenant between you and God -- which is why God sent his Son to die for your sins.

There's an excepetion, though. You receive a waiver if you're a joo. Are you a joo? Well, lucky you because you're one of the Chosen People and you're still covered under the old covenant.

The End.

55 Harry Belafonte: (Oct 2011) video link

What IÂ’m reading from this is that Harry Belafonte has, like most liberals, decided that Republican blacks are not “real Negroes” in his eyes.  If youÂ’re not playing the black victim card, the “everything that happens to me is because of racism” card, youÂ’re not really black.  Sounds a bit racist to me.  Watch the video and decide for yourself.

I'm really surprised that nobody did a parody of Belafonte's "Day-o/Banna Boat" song when Dear Leader was talking about the "Tally-Bahn Tally-Bahn hiding out in Paak-eee-staan"

I respect his artistic/singing skills. I'm sure he has seen serious racism in his life, but he has long ago bought into the Progressive lib' attitude of (R)=Racism & Eric Holders nation of cowards crap.

Flogging goes all the way back to ancient times.  IIRC, there was some violations of Jewish law where flagellation as punishment was limited to 40 strokes.  The Spartans used flogging as a masculinity test, the Romans used it as a preclude to crucifixion, and the British Navy along with slave owners used it as punishment.  Of course, the main practitioners of this form of punishment are Islamic countries and some of the former British territories.

89 Which project are you talking about Y-Not? Bain has done hundreds of them, and I know that Govt loans were part of some, but no details. Was it something egregious? Did it get paid off w/interest? Was it a competitive edge that all the venture company's rivals were beating them with? Apart from the actual money and overall strategic vision, what places like Bain do is know and use every single legal in and out of making companies work.

97 The russians used to flog, also. Observers in the 19th century, after flogging had largely been abolished in the West, thought that it was odd that Russian serfs didn't seem to take their punishments as degrading, and decided that the Russian peasants had no sense of personal honor.

You're butthurt because ace didn't hop on the Palin express. And he was quite vocal about it and that angered you. So in your anger you're going to obsess over and relate over comment you make over Perry?

I just had a chilling thought.

Sometime before the end of the month, we will be forced to endure another of the SCOAMT's State of the Union addresses.

...

You know, I spent last weekend sick to my stomach.  It was the first time I experienced projectile vomiting since I was in single digits.  I wondered at the time why my digestive system would choose to suddenly re-employ vomiting as a legitimate practice after a drought of twenty five to thirty years.

I realize now that my body was just preparing me for the amount of time I'm going to spend kneeling in front of the Porcelain Throne while the purple-lipped tyrant spews his verbal diarrhea across the nation's airwaves.

I'm going to have to sleep with a bucket next to my bed that night, just to be safe.

The whole point of the exercise is to show some sycophantic conservatives that the best way to help their candidate is not to destroy other conservatives.

HereÂ’s a reminder for the future.

If Ace says heÂ’s more in favor of one person than another, you donÂ’t have to interpret that as a signal for you to unleash the hate of a thousand suns to prove how good a friend you are to him.

Guys need roughly 4 things when it comes to overcoming grief:

1- A kind word/sympathetic ear
2- A drink (or other form of escapism, for the tea teetotalers)
3- To engage in violence
4- Friends who treat them normally.

We're kind of doing 1, we can't supply two or three, and 4 is where we excel.

Of course, if the grief goes too long, they need #5- friends who will kick their rears.  But I don't think finding out today gets anywhere near the need for #5.

Joffen, I hope that it works out for the best for you, your daughter and yes, even your wife.

Good luck.

180 147 No one has been flogged in Delaware since 1952. It was the last state to outlaw flogging.

Prescient ones among us saw that Christine O'Donnell was headed our way and wished to make this place as welcoming to Wiccans as possible.

And now you know... the rest of the story

181 Uh Vic, I can understand your urgency, but there is a child to consider.  Gonna have to work with the little person in mind.

182 So... not you, then?

I couldn't blame the wife cause it's always the guys fault and I sure as hell wasn't going to blame myself

183 The wonderful healing effects of alcohol joffen should never be overlooked. Hide your car keys, cell phone, and wallet from yourself, go out with some friends and get so drunk your brain feels like a marshmallow. Rinse repeat. Then hit the gym, then drink some more, gym, drink some more. Yes my advice sucks but it worked for me not with a divorce but with PTSD.

If he is in the South she will get the child and he will be lucky to see it again anyway.

185 OK, no chance then. Clean out your bank account and cancel all credit cards NOW. Then leave the State. If your company has other offices in a different State ask for a transfer. \ **** This-particularly the bolded. Vic is a genius.

188 Joffen- Sorry to hear that.  Try to be at least civil just for the kid.  You won't regret it down the road.

190 We've disagreed more and more on politics...but she's not all that political. I went from kind of a "moderate" on abortion and gay marriage to not supporting it but I never really thought about it so...I dunno. I guess people do change...

Not to take her side or anything, but you do realize you can become a bit animated when on the subject of politics, right?

Maybe you let a few things slip out that the average Obama admirer might find upsetting.

And forget counseling.  99.9% of councilors are liberals who would have told your wife to leave the minute they figured out youÂ’re a conservative.

192 As a divorced person since my son was a little over 2, you can work something out with her if she's reasonable.  Shared custody, we do 4 days on 4 days off.  Children need both parents and need to know that the parents were willing to go to the wall to be with them regardless of "grown up" circumstances.

My prayer for you is that she can see past herself to what's best for your kid.

193 Thanks for the advice anyway, Vic. Definitely drinking tonight.

Yea, because down the road when the daughter gets married and is picking which house to go to for the holidays, you will be last on the list right behind a 3rd cousin.

Wife and I are calling it quits after only four years of marriage.
Posted by: Joffen, fucking sunshine patriot at January 11, 2012 01:15 PM (zLeKL)

Sincerely sorry to hear this. Don't let your daughter become a victim of this, please.

I wasted four years trying to fix a marriage that was beyond repair. We had no kids to complicate matters, so when I walked, I proposed a settlement that was accepted without much angst.

202 and the counselor... ****** Great...let me tell you something. Those people are not all they are cracked up to be they don't have all the answers. When Iw as young I babysat for to psychologists. One was a prof of psych-met his wife as a student...ya. She-the student- became sort of famous-was Glamour magazine's top ten admired women of the year-something like that. You wouldn't believe all the stuff she faked for that interview and the pictorial of her house that went with it. Ran out and bought a whole new living room for the photo shoot. Ugh she dated a famous guy that wrote these self help books... What Color is Your Blank Blank... Anyways long story short...these psych experts were and are still the most screwed up people I ever met. They get into the business-I think- because they are so screwy... So your counselor could well be worthless.

>>It hasn't really hit me yet. A couple months ago I was on here right after she left me. I was just sitting at home, so I got on here. What else was I gonna do?

I had a stretch a few years ago where all of my closest family including my younger brother, and right after, my only close friend all passed in a short time.
Two things got me through - humor and a focus (OK maybe a little bit of an obsession) on personal fitness and health. That and the above mentioned lady.
Change your focus, maybe forget politics for a while.
You can find humor in just about anything, even now - especially now.

205 Hey!  I don't think there should be a winner or a loser in this competition.  It hurts my self esteem that I did poorly.  I think everyone should get a trophy for participating.
