43 31 "The New York Giants have no redeeming qualities." --------------------------------- Beg to differ, Y-Not. Tom Coughlin grew up and went to high school in the tiny town of Waterloo, New York(Pop. 4,000). Waterloo is the birthplace of Memorial Day. When a new high school was completed in 2008, Tom Coughlin returned to Waterloo to dedicate it. The football field in this tiny town is named after him. This was the same year the Giants won the Super Bowl. I am also from Waterloo, NY. So Tom Coughlin is a pretty good guy in my book.

116 Present your evidence. Posted by: Question Man at January 01, 2012 08:59 PM (ucERL) Ya mean other than stuff like this that goes on every day? An Afghan child bride on Saturday spoke of how she was tortured by her mother-in-law who locked her in a toilet for six months, beat her, pulled out her fingernails and burned her with cigarettes. Sahar Gul, 15, is recovering in hospital in Kabul, her face bruised and swollen, her skin still bearing the marks of her ordeal, barely able to speak. Police have said she was locked up when she defied her in-laws who tried to force her into prostitution. Her brother had sold her to her husband about seven months ago for $5,000. "For several months I was locked up in toilet by my in-laws and particularly my mother-in-law," she managed to tell media in a frail voice during a visit from Afghan health minister Dr Suraya Dalil. "I was denied food and water. I was tortured and beaten." Now go get your shoe shine box

As long as they keep killing each other the world will be a better place. Cut off their aid and let them finish each other off. Give the Copts asylum here if they want it and let them stay in the stone age.

123 Truman North's link to CNN's book review of Paul's work, needs clarification. His link is tagged More delicious Ron Paul nincompoopery. This goes to the book review by Peter Hamby, a hit piece on CNN.

Truman North hasn't said where he disagrees with Hamby's review, so until then I must assume that he agrees with all of it.

Hamby, therefore Truman, disagrees with this: The individual suffering from AIDS certainly is a victim - frequently a victim of his own lifestyle - but this same individual victimizes innocent citizens by forcing them to pay for his care. That means that Hamby, therefore Truman, has no defence against calls for taxpayer-funded health insurance - even for self-inflicted conditions.

Hamby, therefore Truman, has a problem with this:

It's dangerous to craft a separate set of rights for groups like Hispanics, African-Americans, children, employees and the homeless, Paul wrote.

"Until all these terms are dropped and we recognize that only an individual has rights the solution to the mess in which we find ourselves will not be found," Paul explained.

"Every year new groups organize to demand their 'rights,'" he continued. "White people who organize and expect the same attention as other groups are quickly and viciously condemned as dangerous bigots. Hispanic, black, and Jewish caucuses can exist in the U.S. Congress, but not a white caucus, demonstrating the absurdity of this approach for achieving rights for everyone."

Do please explain the flaw in the above.

I have to worry now that Ace of Spades HQ has gone so far against Ron Paul, that it is now tacitly agreeing with the left / liberal critique against him.

The one part I agree with Hamby (and Truman?) on: sexual harassment should remain criminal, and not just (like Paul said) a case where the employee should quit. But that is one of three.

Otherwise, Truman's link represents a sharp Left-ward shift in this blog.

124 54 The Tebow miracle is over. He really looks frantic when he gets some pressure in the pocket and can't get outside. I'll bet the Steeler's defense have huge shit eatin' grins of anticipation on their faces.

Posted by: long toss at January 01, 2012 08:34 PM (FPjaa)

Exactly. Tebow's style was so unorthodox for the NFL that he was able to succeed until teams could adjust their defenses, but now that teams have had time to look over the tapes and devise a way to stop his unconventional QB style, they are better able to defend against it.

I actually like the guy personally but didn't like the media hype for him and his abilities. Either way, I don't think he'll be in the league for very long. An NFL franchise is not going to build their team around a guy like Tebow, who has an average arm and likes to run first and pass second. No top-flight wide receivers will want to play in Denver, especially since their stats determine their next contract, and Tebow will be a constant injury risk due to the amount of times he runs the ball. Worst of all, the team has to devise the whole offense (scheme and personnel) around him and his specific unique skill set, so if and when he gets hurt due in large part to the frequency with which he runs the ball, the team will need a backup QB with the same skill set as Tebow to run the offense in his absence. This is part of the reason why there no other teams implement an offensive scheme like the one Denver is running right now with Tebow at the helm.

209 "Check out the Lloyd's of London lawsuit against Saudi Arabia." Such lawsuits are meaningless in terms of criminal guilt or culpability for an action. Anyone can sue anyone over anything in this world. There's also a vast chasm between aledged negligence for having not watched the behavior of a trusted person as close as some might wish, and malice. There is absolutely no believable reason the Saudi govt would act with genuine malice against the USA. Since the reign of Ibn Saud and the discovery of oil the USA has guaranteed their economic system and way of life military protection. In many ways the USA's relationship with Saudi Arabia has been more "special" than that of the UK. Bob Graham was my senator and governor for many years. He's a bit of a crank. Not exactly what I consider a reliable purveyor of rock solid proof.

I'm a life long Cowboys fan. Here are the major problems with the team:

1- Terrible head coach. Garrett is in way above his head. He is at best a co-ordinator. Fire Garrett and hire Mangini or Fisher.

2- Defense- Terrible. They have two playmakers on defense- Lee and Ware. That is it. Rob Ryan wants to outcoach the opposition's offense but he does not have the players needed for such a complex defense. He has to realize that.

3- Idiotic Mistakes- That goes back to the head coach and preparedness.

Do not listen to those morons who will stick this loss on Romo. It has nothing to do with him.

Hire Mangini. If Norv Turner is fired, hire him as the offensive co-oridnator. Keep Rob Ryan for now.

When asked why there is no mention of 9/11 on Bin Ladens Most Wanted web page, Tomb said, “The reason why 9/11 is not mentioned on Usama Bin Ladens Most Wanted page is because the FBI has no hard evidence connecting Bin Laden to 9/11.” --------------------------------- RUT ROH!

Since my own opinions have been independently researched and I trust myself to do that because of my scientific and engineering background that trained me to be rigorous in researching, I have no need to seek validation from others about them. I've seen no evidence about the man since reaching those conclusions that would have me question them or consider reversing them. Whenever I hear him speak, my conclusions (which are similar to Ace's) are in fact reinforced. Some of what Ron Paul says is quite valid. Other stuff is just paranoid crap. The problem with Ron Paul IS that he is Ron Paul.

280 ofgs, an inside job ?

Well, Saudis + Jooooos + Bilderbergers, probably, if Question Tard managed to stop smoking weed long enough to try and form a coherent, if fact-free, conspiracy theory.

Maybe a secret Tesla Building Collapse Ray somewhere in there too.

Posted by: Waterhouse at January 01, 2012 06:18 PM (jbVeA)

281 well of course if no muslims had committed the atrocities of Belsan, london bombings, indonesia,  or 911 we of course have no reason to feel angsty against a certain religious thought.

Posted by: willow at January 01, 2012 06:20 PM (h+qn8)

282 OBL essentially made a video taped confession to being the mastermind behind 9/11. The jihadis released it much later than 2002, I think it was maybe around 2007 or 2008. If I had to trust the FBI or OBL about his own guilt, I'd have to go with OBL. The FBI's record of being unvarnished purveyors of truth is kinda checkered.

285 273 You wish to debate the fine points of him.

Only when I have to.

I felt like I had to, in this case. Because what was being posted wasn't primarily about Ron Paul. It was using Ron Paul to tar his non-insane opinions - which, I keep having to repeat, made up 66% of that article.

Posted by: Theresa at January 01, 2012 06:22 PM (ejSrN)

288 Question dude, This is a serious question. Ron Paul absolutely will not be the Republican nominee due to his goofball foreign and social policies. However... There is a group of people, a large group of people, who already agree with Paul on foreign and social policy. That would be Democrats. Why aren't you trolling Dim websites and trying to convince them to abandon Obama and take up the ron Paul rEVOLution? Really...that's a much better use of your time. You wouldn't even have to "ask questions". You would just have to lead their thinking based on positions they already agree with. Go on. Give it a try. Jaded Obamans are a much better field to work in.

289 "well of course if no muslims had committed the atrocities of Belsan, london bombings, indonesia, or 911 we of course have no reason to feel angsty against a certain religious thought." I have a long memory. This started way back beyond all that to the time of Jefferson when he sent the Navy to tune up the Barbary pirates.

297 Dems only agree with Paul's foreign and social policy very selectively and narrowly. They're never been the kind of isolationists Paul would be, and their proclivity towards social engineering would conflict with Paul's generally non-interventionist approach.
