David Frum To Michelle Malkin: You're Such a Hate-Filled, Emotional Whore
— Ace

Well, that's about what he said. He's concern-trolling the right, as usual, over Michelle Malkin's staunch defense of the candidate that David Frum actually told us we were intolerant stupid-heads for not supporting in the primaries.

So, we did that -- we voted for Mitt Romney -- and shock of shocks, now he hates Mitt Romney.

And Michelle Malkin.

And everyone on the right.

This dude's an angry guy. Angry, emotional, self-satisfied, egotistical, smug, and generally nasty to everyone who ever once agreed with him.

He's going to lecture me on emotion and hate? No thank you sir.

I think it's pretty obvious that Frum's transition is in its final stages. The final move is just securing that MSNBC contract.

After all, he's not going to be making much money as a novelist.

Frum is angry because he fell between two stools in career terms.  He tried to hit the big-time in the US and has failed.

He can't go back to Canada and try to be the proverbial big fish in the small pond in that media-market because he's been away from that scene for two long and his motives for returning would be transparent to and found repellent by everyone there.

Frum's mother Barbara Frum was, for whatever reason, a household-name columnist in Canada, and unfortunately for him her son David has proved both too fat and too much of a fathead to reach the bar she set let alone surmount/surpass it.

Plus he married non-Jewish which doubtless did not, at base, truly please mother Barbara.  There can be a lot of angst and rage tied up with that sort of emotional limbo-state.

101 I think that Frum (and Noonan and Kristol) are so ensconced inside the DC bubble that they believe the MFM and feel that there is no way that Mitt will win and are counting on invites to the WH during Barky's 2nd term.  Too bad for them that is not set in stone and, should history counsel us, highly unlikely.

As such, should Mitt win, I would think that these three will not see inside the WH for a long time.  Up to 16 years.  I know that Ann Romney will make sure that they don't make "the list".   Oh, maybe for the outdoor, every presstitute is invited BBQ.  As long as they use the porta potties.

David Frum wants to be the vangard of the "sane, rational right." Which just means the media pretends he's a moderate republican while he bashes republicans and chokes down democrat dick, gobbles the balls, gets sloppy deep to the point of gagging and begs for more through teary eyes, looks to the camera and says, "hi, daddy."

155 Frum was born with a silver spoon and now laughingly trolls around for approval from libs by bashing Palin, Bachman, Tea Party, Limbaugh, Levine etc for being 'mean', while he makes snotty comments galore. The media's only use for him is to use him as an example of a 'disenfranchised' Republican who is now left out of his party. His 'Frum Forum' was a flop, and he beclowned himself minutes after the gabby Giffords shooting by tweeting and writing with no evidence that Palin, Levine, etc were responsible. And when it was found out that they had nothing to do with this, he gave 'advice' on what palin should say, and then said that she should shut up. He trolled Andrew Breitbart once, and Breitbart destroyed him. The slime never trolled Breitbart after that; and in true Frum fashion, wwrote a nasty editorial about Breitbart hours after he died. What a fool. Guys like Frum still litter the media, but they are laughed at by the Left and right. What a sad, little, man. I am sure he will now write (as he has in the past) something to the effect that, "If i am so irrelevant, why are they writing about me?'

Frum's goal in life is to be "The House Conservative" for a major media  (read liberal - leftist)  outlet.

David Brooks has that position with the New York Times, and occasional appearances with the senile, decrepit and repugnant hack Mark Shields on PBS.

Although the WSJ is supposedly a "conservative" newspaper, that is true only  of parts of their editorial staff.  Peggy is there.

So maybe Brooks get a position at the Washington Post, or as Ace says, becomes the penultimate piss boy at MSNBC, where careers go to die.  He is just the sort of masochistic pillow-biter to end up there.

He is a willing tool of the left, a beneficiary of the "strange new respect" they give any Republican/conservative who will bash the right for them. He must know that they would drop him so fast if he were ever to lose his usefulness to them. He deserves to be mocked for this - why shouldn't we marginalize him for this?

Posted by: Lizzy at September 21, 2012 04:12 PM (XDfSm)

185 Lizzy, he all ready intentionally marginalized himself, and got on Letterman, Colbert etc due to that. He has no relevance, influence or effect on anyone (other than for libs to site him and say that, 'even conservative David Frum who I never agree with is disgusted by (insert Republican here)'. As long as he calls himself a Republican, he has a use for the mainstream media. Frum makesMeghan Mccain (who is used by the mainstream media for her name and political party)  sound like Rush Limbaugh. As Mark Levine said regarding Frum, he has no influence or audience. This trolling of Malkin today is classic, pathetic Frum; take words that a Republican says, and twist them into being some hateful screed; and then act like he is concerned with the 'anger' of someone; while he makes snotty comments about that person.

187 Difference between MM and Fat Fuck Frum

Malkin wouldn't have her children call into a radio show like Frum did on Mark Levin's show

188 If only fat Frum were an American citizen. He could move to Minnesota and win a Senate seat. Al Franken's funniest line ever was "Of the two New York Jews in this year's Minnesota Senate race, I am the only one actually born in Minnesota." (So, you see, he earned it.)

Posted by: Thorvald at September 21, 2012 05:05 PM (1V6Pv)

189 @202. CORRECTION. Apparently Frum is a citizen as of 2007. Too late for this election: Klobuchar is already the D.F.L. nominee.

David Frum is the left teat offspring of Canada's, one time left teat, Barbara Frum, long time CBC crony. He does seem to trangender himself occasionally but a pinko by any standard...like most of the current CBC's crop of fart catchers these days...except for Rex Murphey.

192 Frum seems to have serious mommy issues. He probably owes his early jobs to connections and has never quite made it big time on his own   He really has it in for women who have more influence than he can dream of having.  In his book on working in the White House he trashed all the women who had more say with W than he did as morons who got ahead on looks.  In almost the same words he later trashed Sarah Palin.  I am not surprised he went after Malkin.

Frum's mother was the Barbara Walters of Canada before Babawawa became a joke, so famous the Canuck version of Sesame Street patterned a character after her.  Every name politician had to sit down to talk with Barbara Frum. Ironically the comic who parodied her used the line "But are you bitter?"  Her son most certainly is.   Dad was rich dentist turned real estate developer.  My guess from his digs is David inherited a tidy sum and now struggles to be "relevent".

199 Reply to 66, 24 Hour Revenge Therapy: I was a young wife when Reagan beat Carter (my first Presidential vote) and the media dismissed Reagan as 'just a Hollywood actor in B movies'. They were not as in the Democrats pocket as they are today - nowhere near, but there was still the use of semantics to sway people's opinions. They did a better job of actually reporting the news in general.

202 @133 I would add little Billy Kristol to that list. I for one have had enough from his joker smiling face. His comments this past week were not only stupid, but very Frummish. What Frum, Noonan, Brooks, Kristol, etc. do not get is the air they breathe is not special, they need us- we do not need them, and there is this thing called the internet, which offers a wide variety of other opinions. Everyone here knows this, but with it being so obvious, you would think these people would have someone pull them aside and whisper, "The natives are not worshipping you Master!" Michelle Malkin is a brilliant, tough woman, and she has a way of eviscerating these shallow pals in ways that not only causes you to learn a thing or two, but also causes you to jump up and shout, "Hell yeah! Take that you crazy ass bitch!" Her last column, the one before the Haskell one, the "Squirrel" one, was one I had to thank her for. Yelling at my tv, or computer just did not make me feel better. I felt like I was living in John Edward's "second America", particularly regarding Kristol. Rage and anger. Anger and rage. MM's column was a relief, someone else thought the same thing! Hearing Frum has decided to show his ass, I am glad I took the time to do it. It has to get old, and irritating I would think, always hearing these nasty, snarking harpies. As we trudge though the last days of this election, if there is someone blogging, posting columns, whatever, that you like, someone who is taking a stand against the Frum, Noonan, Brooks, Kristol cabal, maybe it would be nice to tweet, or email a thank you from time to time. Our side is pretty tough, but it might be nice to send a supportive shout out from time to time. Just a thought.

203 Never heard of him (DF).  I have noticed on twitter that any argument with the libs results in cursing venom and hate but absolutely no substance as reflected in this DF's comments about Michelle Malkin.  She kicked a#@ on Hannity the other night THANK GOD She speaks her mind.  So many of us are as frustrated by all this hypocrisy as she is and appreciate the public voice expressing it unedited; GO MICHELLE!!!

liontooth, I happened to be a young defense reporter in the Pentagon briefing room for one of the first Grenada operation briefings.  I still recall the sarcastic "boo!"s that were hissed when a basic map of Grenada was projected on the front wall, before any briefers started talking.  But I remember it was done in a truly humorous fashion - not to mock the US operation, more just to mine the ironic potential of this little unheard-of island being the "enemy" all of a sudden.  As it turns out I'd been following things there fairly closely, so knew the players and the dynamics.

Though the main thing I remember is the error in the original edition of the game Trivial Pursuit, which debuted about that time and became the rage.  One card said "what is known as the "Spice Island"?  Answer was Madagascar (I think?).  Well, in fact Grenada was also known as the "Spice Island".  In fact, some of the info I got on the place came from transcripts of Spice Island Radio - the govt. radio station there.  I protested the answer when playing the game at the then-gf's at Thanksgiving.  I remember her father eyeing me suspiciously ("hmm, jerk who argues about losing at games..."), and thinking, yikes, I actually happen to have found an error in the game created by some unemployed Canadian construction guys on a cruise, and now her dad doesn't like me?

And that concludes my ridiculously obscure yet completely true anecdote for the evening.

209 I hate to see the right spew filth as if they were leftists for whom that's business as usual. And I wonder what happened to Frum to twist him around from a rational, clearly-spoken orator to a hate-filled lefty. He either had a breakdown or is about to do same. Quite sad and pathetic. I remember when he was actually a Bush speechwriter and had a reputation for being exceptionally bright. Anyone know what broke his heart about reality?

210 I know envy is a sin, but it bugs the shit out of me that this mewling, craven, talentless sack of shit can afford to so much as eat at Taco Bell.  But boy does he.

What's this asshole famous for again?  "Axis of Disappointment" or whatever laughable weasel phrase he cooked up?  He's been riding on the coattails of a quotation that wasn't even his.  His whole resume is three words, one of which was never even uttered.

Think about that the next time you have to get up at 5 am to get ready for work.  This pudgy, two-faced bitch makes more money in a year than you'll likely see in a lifetime, and he's done absolutely nothing to earn it.

O/T, saw Hillary on Fox. She looks like SHIT. That's not a comment on her usual unpleasant visage - the woman looks ILL.

I'll never understand the right's below-the-surface fear/hope that Cankles was somehow strategizing to run in 2016.  The woman is freaking hideous, and time is most definitely not on her side.  She's painful to look at (I'll set aside the fact that she's utterly devoid of accomplishment, jaw-droppingly corrupt, and demonstrably incompetent at what few jobs she's ever had to perform), and that's when she's had an army of taxpayer-funded assistants slather spackle on her bloated mug for an hour.

If America is going to elect a woman president, it's not going to be an eye-burning hag.  On the male side of the ledger, only lisping, androgynous fancyboys like Matt Yglessias and Ezra Klein and, well, pretty much every other liberal "intellectual" who was born with a damaged Y chromosome, are going to pull the handle for a crone.

Is that shallow?  So what.  The only reason a sleazy non-entity like Hillary isn't working a street corner is because she married a serial rapist who happened to belong to a political party that celebrates serial rapists and occasional murderers so long as they're sellable to the Joe Six-Pack retards in the electorate.  If she weren't a woman, she'd probably be dead from a hot dose by now, just as a white Barry Soetoro's career ceiling would involve pushing paper in the basement of a third-rate law firm in a fourth-rate suburb of East St. Louis.

211 Maybe he a David Brooks can have a TV show on Gore's network where they explain how smart they are every week. That sounds about as interesting as I find this guy's opinion on anything.

212 David Frum hasn't gone bad; he was never good.

In his 2003 book The Right Man, Frum endorsed Bush only for his war-making; Bush's "compassionate conservatism" was something Frum condemned as small-ball, too much a "bits and pieces" thing with not enough Grand Vision. In other words, he was not bothered by Bush's deviations from conservatism, but only that Bush's deviations were relatively small and incoherent.

216 "For those of you who were around, what was the media coverage like during Carter's term, and in the run-up to the election?" I was around. The media was the same bunch of arrogant, self-righteous, smug commies, then as now, essentially PR for the Dems. Reagan was going to start a nuclear war, enslave women and minorities, be mean to kittehs, etc. -- essentially it was Armageddon if he was elected. The key differences then to now are that 1) in some cases (MSNBC) the media have dropped even the pretense of objectivity and journalistic integrity, 2) public understanding of the media's incompetence and corruption has increased (thanks e.g. to outlets like MRC) blossoming into open contempt and widespread mockery and 3) due to the new media (interwebs, talk radio, etc.) nobody has to watch the state-run media unless they are brain dead, so only the brain dead do.

Posted by: Heywood Broun at September 22, 2012 11:05 PM (i/BcK)

217 I was around during the Carter election, too.  I don't remember the media being anywhere near as one-sided.  But to be absolutely fair to the media (who don't deserve fairness but you do because you have a serious interest in analyzing what is going on right now) the biggest difference is in Carter vs. Obama.  Carter didn't ask the media to lie for him, and Carter didn't have or try to form a cult following.  Carter didn't play golf a lot, hang out with cool Hollywood stars or whatever the equivalent of hip-hop rockers was back then. Carter didn't have a spin machine either--those really got started during Clinton, with Carville and Stephanopoulos, etc.  So the media was sort of off on its own back then.  Today they're being managed and they enjoy the management way too much.  They feel like they're part of a "movement" or maybe just a hip social set, but they love it.  So many people, media included, just accept the concept that "smart" and "educated" people are for Obama, so they accept whatever he says and they feel very committed to following.  This is scary because, as D'Souza so brilliantly explains, what they're following is a philosophy which is antithetical to the very existence of the United States as the constitutional republic which was founded in 1789.
