— DrewM After ObamaCare passed I wrote and open letter to the GOP, "Dear GOP: Fight".
Here's my letter to the GOP after today's events at the Supreme Court:
Dear GOP,
This is your last chance. If you blow this, I'm out and you need to be destroyed.
What is it? Repeal ObamaCare on Day 1. Don't worry about replace, don't worry about anything else. We will do everything we have to drag your sorry asses over the line this fall, including electing Mitt Fucking Romney.
In return this is what you will do:
Instead of adjourning for pictures and tea and cake to celebrate getting your pathetic asses elected to 2 or 6 years on the government teet, you will immediately pass a one line bill that says, "The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (and whatever statute number has to be included) is hereby repealed."
That's it. Nothing more, nothing less.
Since Congress meets before Inauguration Day, Obama will still be President. Simply hold the legislation at the desk so the 10 day pocket veto clock doesn't start. If other parliamentary BS is needed, just do it.
Then as soon as Mitt takes the oath of office, before his speech no one will care or remember, walk the bill up to him at the podium to sign.
If this does not happen, the GOP must be destroyed and a new party built to replace it. We've tried the carrot approach (votes, money, volunteers) to change your behavior. Now it's time to show you the stick.
No more, "oh the other guys are worse" scare tactics. That might be true but it doesn't mean you are any good.
This is your one job, do it or join the Whig Party in the dustbin of history.

If I was Romney I'd have one of my lawyer friends write a simple bill that repeals the ACA and does nothing else. I'd then spend the next few months showing that bill to every group I spoke to, with the promise to send it to the House my first day in office and demand a vote within the week. I'd send copies to every R running for the House and the Senate and urge them to promise to vote to pass it when it arrives in their chamber.

Repealing O-Care would be nice. But now that we have this horrible precedent. It's just a matter of time before we are bludgeoned with it again. Unless you think that once O-Care is gone Roberts might have a change of heart and overturn the next piece of Sh*t tax to comply bill that comes down the pike.

Note, I'm not saying EVERY GOP. I'm saying the Ruling Class Establishment which Romney and the Bushes came from. The group that has dictated the GOP's true direction, regardless of platforms since 1988. If they cannot show us that they are truly different from the Democrats, then the party needs to be blown to Kingdom Come. Period. Full Stop.

1. Obamacare passes the Supreme Court. Since it shocks pretty much everyone and is good for Obama, there's not much conflict the media can wring out of it -- not nearly as much as if it had been called unconstitutional.
2. Same day: House votes to hold Holder in contempt, with even some Democrat support.
3. Media has no real coverage to distract from #2.
4. This afternoon, Fox reports a shooting at a military base.
Exactly as I predicted...I was just off by a few days.

Why on Earth would Boehner or McConnell or a President Romney react positively to such profane, belligerent threats? Would you?
It's a Polish firing squad, Drew. A temper tantrum. You're never going to replace the GOP with anything remotely as viable. So if you follow through on your threat, you'll be surrendering the country once and for all to those who have driven it to the brink of fiscal destruction. You're advocating literal political and national suicide before O can deliver the coup de grace himself.
I thought the enemy was O and the Dems. You seem to be inordinately confused about it.

I never thought that. I always saw most other people as the enemy. That's why I am a royalist, or at least an oligarchist ("Republican", in the Roman sense).
We'll look at the oligarchic solution first. The legal way to make that happen is another Constitutional Convention. The aim of the new Constitution would be to disenfranchise everyone on Federal public assistance or employment, with exceptions for veteran service. (If Charlie Rangel ever leaves office, he still gets to vote. But his constituents don't.)
The "Atlas Shrugged" moment is coming, whoever wins in November. So we are going to lose our democracy whatever happens. I would rather lose to the military heroes and the gainfully employed in this country.

This is your last chance. If you blow this, I'm out and you need to be destroyed.
I appreciate the passion, but don't make threats you won't back up.
You won't back up this threat, I hope, because you'll conclude that you can change the GOP with a fraction of the effort it will take to launch a viable third party. (I'm assuming you want to remain viable. No one puts this much work every day into advancing the conservative cause to just give it up for symbolism.)
I've said it before and it really, really is true: It's incredibly easy to join and change the platform of your county GOP Committee, which shapes the opinions of the State GOP Committee. Or, just run for state committee. Move. Act. That matters.
Don't threaten to leave the party. Few will follow you and you will take yourself out of the game. Take the same passion and energy and push the GOP in the direction you want to go. It's not as dramatic as leaving, but it's more effective.

We've been fighting this battle for 30 years to move the party.
What have we gotten for it? We've gone from Reagan to Bush, Dole, Bush, McCain and Romney. We've gone from Newt to Denny Hasteritt and now John Boehner. From Howard Baker alllll the way to Mitch McConnell.
We're not exactly making process.
The fact is, if ObamaCare survives or Romney replaces it with ObamaCare lite, there's very little to fight for. The die will be cast, we'll just be positioning ourselves for surviving the aftermath.
Even a candy ass RINO like me knows this is the last hill, it's time to fight. I'd rather fight and kill than fight and die.

I'm pretty sure I'll be equally as thrilled if Romney repeals Obamacare on Day 30 as would be if he did it on Day 1. In fact, I can guarantee you it won't "happen" on Day 1, for the simple reason that the Senate trickery is going to take some time. (EX: If there was some remotely possible chance you could get to 60 votes for a full repeal, then it's worth taking the time to get there. Otherwise you CANNOT fully repeal Obamacare that way, you're going to have to torpedo the mandate via reconciliation and take down a number of other parts of it by gutting them via budget decisions and then maybe even hit the 'nuclear option' and do filibuster reform to get rid of more.)
That said, I'll agree with this much: if Romney wins and has a GOP Senate, there is literally no conceivable, forgivable reason for him not uprooting this stuff.

Its not an income Tax. Its not a duty, or Excise Tax... and the Power of Congress to Tax under the Constitution is NOT absolute... and must be uniform throughout the US.... and must NOT give Religious exemptions...
So... Mr. Roberts (I will not call him Judge any Longer), just WHERE in the Constitution is this Power for Congress to put THIS Tax upon us?

You mistakenly place the insurance business and the healthcare business in a single category.
The US healthcare system is fine. All it needs is to be structured as a free market by getting rid of the broken concept of health insurance for non-catastrophic need.
Does you car insurance cover oil changes and pay for your gas? Does the insurance on your home put groceries in the fridge and make sure your pictures are hanging straight?
Of course not. So why do we go through a third party for non-catastrophic medical care? Why do we accept a system that makes it impossible to get real numbers as to what anything involved really costs? The only reliable system for pricing a good or service has been the free market. Why have we almost completely removed it from healthcare?
Frankly, I'm all for turning the healthcare system into a train wreck ASAP. We've spent so many decades breaking it. Why wait any longer? Lets burn it down so we can build anew.

Obama is black, true; worse, he chose to be black. Blacks are overwhelmingly of the opinion that they need free stuff and that it should be whites paying for it. If it were just the white vote in 2008, we'd be living out a McCain / Palin administration - not great, and still quite socialist, but MUCH better than what we got now. So, that much, #163 got right.
Still, eventually the whites would be corrupted too. It's already happening (Murray, "Coming Apart"). White corruption is what brought democracy, and Labour, and the NHS, and failure to my home country Great Britain. THAT's where you stand to shoot down comments like #163.
It begins and ends with democracy, the one political system of antiquity which proved itself a failure everywhere it was tried.

Don't blame the GOP. They fought O-care tooth and nail. Not a one of them voted for it.
The thing that annoys the hell out of me about all this "last chance GOP" stuff is that in a two party system the result of that is more Democrats in office. I heard this same shit in 2006 after 6 years of W and Mark Foley and all the spending the Administration forced them into. And what did we get? Nancy Pelosi as speaker. Then in 2008, Bush fatigue gave Obama the supermajority Senate.
Fight your ideological battle in the primary, but after that line up to beat a Democrat. I figure all we needed to beat back ACA in the House was 4 more GOP members in 2009 (maybe not even that many.) It never would have come to today's ruling. Sometimes holding your nose has its benefits.

Okay, this actually makes a lot more sense. Fair enough. I disagree, though. The fact that you don't want any "replace" (regardless of what it is) whatsoever comes across as knee-jerk foolishness, especially because everybody here on the Right seems to convenient forget just how utterly fucked-up and broken the healthcare system was before Obamacare made it 20 times worse. Furthermore, as a political matter we DAMN WELL BETTER be able to go to the masses -- and not just "swing voters" but big segments of the "base" as well, or else they'll soon start becoming "swing voters" -- and say "hey, we're doing [X], that's a better answer!" Nobody wants some massive government plan, but portability and/or tort reform would be a great start. Shit, I'd love to unmoor health care from employer system altogether, but me, I'm a radical in that sense.

I hear you. I've been actively involved in that fight for half of those years. But I always fall back on my favorite Milton Friedman quote:
"The same Congressman will vote for a different thing if he feels itÂ’s politically profitableÂ….The way you solve things is by making it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right things."
If we donÂ’t have the party we want, itÂ’s our fault. The Dems face the same equation, itÂ’s just easier for them: Promise that government will do more. Always. Forever. I could run on that every two years and win.
The GOP, has to fight that tide and then turn the ship around. We need to convince a LOT more Americans of that before weÂ’re going to get politicians lining up to do our bidding.
We'll get the GOP we want when we make it politically profitable for them do as we wish. You don't get that by exiting the game, you get that by winning the battle of ideas. We're getting there. This court ruling means nothing in regards to that.

It took roughly 90 years to get us to the point we're at now; it's not going to be reversed in 90 hours, days or even months. Certainly not in the course of a single election. And there's nothing the GOP can do about it.
For all the bitching (in many cases, completely justified) we do about the GOP and Washington Insider Elites, the problem lies in our own collective mirrors. Why are they talking about "repeal and replace" instead of just "repeal"? Because they answer to an electorate that wants something done about our health care system, which few believe can't stand improvement.
Why do these politicians cower at the mention of entitlement reform despite the impending Doom? Because of the voters who put them in office. It's easy to say "just do the right thing and don't worry about re-election", but what then? They get replaced by liberals who turn around and undo whatever they did.
Ranting at the GOP as if they were some all powerful cabal only lacking will to wave their magic wand to fulfill our demands is short sighted and ignorant of reality. Change isn't going to come from the top down, it will only come from the bottom up, and that will take time. Lots of it.
Definitely keep on their assess about spending and the like, but in the end it'll be voters who change the minds of politicians, not politicians who change the minds of voters.

They account for about 5% of expenditures. Surely we could have found a solution for that without fucking over everyone who pays their bills (or gets their bills paid by the government already).

I thought they were AREADY accounted for in the fact that if a hospital provides the care for free they get to pay no taxes, and the goverment will probably even foot the bill. So no solution needed n that. It was solved.

YMMV.
There's also a practical objection. You may not have noticed but when the federal government creates massive wealth transfer entitlements, things don't go well.
So no, I'm not up for an economy busting, freedom sapping, quality reducing replacement.

"Politically profitable" means the politician calculates what will get him enough votes to be re-elected. That's all the vast majority of them want. They just want to remain in office. If it means spending more tax dollars, they'll do it. If the majority of voters want them to spend fewer tax dollars, they'll do that.
The vast majority of the billions of dollars raised for campaigns goes right back into 30 second spots to win...votes. If you really think the game is rigged to such an extent, then there's nothing to say. About anything. Game over. But don't delude yourself into thinking hidden, sinister forces are keeping us from the conservative GOP we want. It's just us. In a word, bullshit.
We can deal with the free rider problem. It's just another entitlement issue that needs to be addressed if the nation is not sink under debt. This is why I'm all for burning ti down and letting it be rebuilt from the ground up. Force people to confront the problem instead of allowing them to think of it as an abstract issue being argued far, far away.
Will a bunch of people die for lack of medical intervention? Yep. Guess what? That is going to happen anyway on the course we're following and possibly on a greater scale.
The confrontation has to happen. This isn't a self-contained issue. The free rider issue in my part of the country is really an illegal immigration issue. Make the swelling Latino voter base deal with the fact they can have ERs open throughout LA County or they can have their entire extended family smuggled in. They cannot have both. One breaks the other.
This is why the GOP is a failure. Instead of embracing the image of the parent who can say no, they've become obsessed with wanting to be loved. Those who've successfully bred and raised humans to functional adulthood know they cannot make it there without the kid claiming to hate them occasionally, especially in the teen years. Pleasant? No. Necessary? Extremely. There are a few exceptional kids but most need some attitude adjustment before the job is done.
A critical issue is to confront the nonsensical belief that medical care is somehow different than other goods and services. It isn't. The more the government gets involved the more broken the business gets. Imagine what a desktop computer would cost if that business suffered as much government interference as healthcare. There probably wouldn't be such a thing as a desktop PC, for starters. What government bureaucrat would perceive a need for such?
When government hands out candy it is guaranteed to turn out to be stuff you'd never buy with your own money and a choice. The people who line up for a free dollop of mediocrity drag down many others with them. The law needs to change to free us of this.

The basic issue in Soccer is that scoring is so low that either nothing happens or if a fluke gives a goal to one side the lead is insurmountable. Having every game end by using a different sport to produce a result (which is what Penalty kicks essentially are) makes no more sense in having the QBs play checkers in OT to decide a football game.
Soccer needs, like hockey, to get scoring up to the 4-5 goals per game when two good teams play, rather than the 0-2 goals we get now. That way flukes, or bad calls, have a chance to be overcome.
I also think the "I don't know how much time is left in the half" is pretty stupid. Its the 20th century, put the real time up there. But that is niggling.

The whigs weren't a party --- they were two parties. The Anti Democrats in the North and the South. In the South, they were more pro Slavery than the Dems, in the North, anti-Slavery. Not having a position they could hold on the big issue of the day was a critical flaw.

Guys, I want to give a dose of optimism to those who need it.
I have faith in our lawmakers, because I have faith in America. This is our society, and nobody can take that from us.
The people of this country are self-reliant, moral people who would never consider coveting their neighbors shit. Smart, realistic people who produce incredible things. We don't hate on each other because of our differences, we are a cohesive community working together to benefit each others lives.
Just look at what this country can do. With no America, there would be no Twitter, or Facebook, or Adult Friend Finder. We are the leaders in technology. Could China create a laptop with no keyboard? I didn't think so. We are the cutting edge of new technology like solar cylinders and algae fuel. American companies like Google can drive your car AND mine asteroids. Incredible.
I work at an engineering firm where I'm exposed to the brilliance and innovation af Americans every day. We all work together towards producing a product, we don't care about spouting buzzwords and belittling our co-workers. People of real integrity.
I trust Americans to do the right thing, to reject goodies confiscated from their fellow citizens, and see past our cultural and ethnic differences. We reject theft and we don't sell snake oil. We are exceptional because we are Americans, we don't even really have to try.

We need only a small, but dedicated number of people to take effective control of the GOP and steer that coalition towards freedom.
An effort that would be worse than meaningless if you can't also get that coalition elected by steering their voters towards freedom.
I know we're frustrated, but the Underpants Gnome theory I keep seeing proposed is missing the "get elected" part:

That only works if the cost of non-paying patients is about equal to the taxes that would have been owed. In LA County the volume of illegals goes far beyond.
Plus, that only helps privately owned medical facilities. What of the local, county, or state operated medical facility that has little or no tax burden compared to a private facility.
The legislation that obligated medical facilities to take one and all regardless of ability to pay was a huge mistake. It made a bunch of people feel good about themselves but they're long gone when the costs become unmanageable.
This is the essential error of giving the vote to anyone who manages to have a heartbeat for 18 years. Far too many of those with no real investment to protect are always going to vote in favor of more free candy.
Posted by: epobirs at June 28, 2012 04:35 PM (kcfmt)
I think this is a really good idea. Is there somewhere you can put this up for signatures so we can petition the party with our grievances?
It is pretty clear all of our institutions have failed us so as good a place as any to start is with the Republican party. If they will not reform then we will need to find another home. I am perfectly fine with the libertarian party and have voted that way before so it will be easy for me. I just vote Republican when there is a menace like Obama about... which means I almost always vote Republican.
But that is going to change. I just sent Romney's letter back with a note that says as long as he keeps intending to repeal and replace Obamacare instead of just repealing it then he isn't getting a dollar from me.
The really neat thing about Obama is that the country has been bankrupted and corrupted to the point that there isn't much worth saving. So all of these people preaching moderation really don't have anything left to sell. What? Do I want to go broke 15 years down the road with Romney vs. 10 with Obama? Do I want squishes like Roberts on the court vs. Sotomayor? Would I like a shit sandwiche or turd soup?
What the hell does it matter at this point. Fuck all of the moderates and their lack of principle. Let them suffer the depredations that come with that until the pain is so much that they come to their senses. Let them court ME and convince ME that they aren't without principle and will act in a manner I can support. The people who think Romney is a great candidate are every bit as much of a problem as Obama is. I won't be a party to it any longer. It is pretty clear the republic will have to start over so it might as well be sooner rather than later.
At least I will have a clean conscience when the end comes and I can look my daughter in the eye knowing I did not support any of the people who brought it about.
And just for the record. The Dems won by being as extreme, nasty and partisan as they could be. They were relentless in their pursuit of tyranny and they pulled every dirty trick and supported every radical who came down the pike. That is how you win.
So our path is.
1: Party
2: Press (propaganda and lies)
3: Academia (propaganda and lies)
4: Power
The template has been set.

Agree that this is the GOP's very last election, but I don't grant the Purity patrol any quarter.
They may think they were 'right' or more conservative that everyone else. So what? What did it do for them? Their arguments weren't persuasive; they were peevish at best, shit-flinging spaz outs at worst.
No one on the other 'side' of the debate claimed that our patience was infinite. No one here claimed the GOP can do no wrong. No one. That kind of sloppy, accusing moral masturbation made it all the easier to dismiss the purity patrol.

Bit OT but I could use some help dredging up the appropriate citations to knock this douchebaggery commentary back down into the dirt.
"Angela this is designed to make it affordable I know you haven't actually read the bill(now law) but it has already stopped the increasing cost of healthcare dead in its tracks and should (if handled decently ) make it so you or anyone can afford basic healthcare insurance, more importantly it is not being penalized it is paying for something you will be receiving."
And this miracle piece of commentary is on the same thread: "
Angela, the law will allow you to get coverage with preexisting conditions. That's one of the great things in the law. Have you not been paying attention? And I suggest to all that think you won't ever need health care to carry a card in ...your wallet instructing all medical personnel to not render any aid in the event of a life threatening condition/accident. Don't ever go to a doctor, don't ever take any medicine. Let God's will be done. That will show all those communist!"
My contribution was pointing out the precedence this is, the fact that it opens the door for the govt to tax pretty much anything for any reason they want.
I'm honestly at a loss, the ignorance and knob slobbing these idiots are doing...I don't even know if I want to spend the energy to debunk their idiocy outside of the comments I remember in various places.
Things like the fact that this is equivalent to a 36% tax increase on everybody and everything to even dream of trying to pay for this. The fact that basic constitutional rights have been usurped by the government, the fact that the insurance pools will collapse if they have to cover every pre-existing condition covered. We simply cannot afford this crap, and I know theres folks out there who are way more edumacated than I am in regards to looking this stuff up. Give a moron a hand here?

...and it's his reputation that he only gives a shit about. There'll be adoring photos of Maverick Roberts on the covers of Time, Newsweek, etc for weeks to come.
It is ironic. As for your point regarding reputation, I think it is both, and the two go hand-in-hand (as Chief Justice, he feels a sense of obligation, etc.). This (to me) is primarily why he made a number of conservative acknowledgements regarding ObamaCare only to latch on to an argument not given as much weight by the Administration or the liberal justices. So while he made some great points regarding the Administration's primary arguments and also made ObamaCare easier to repeal, he ultimately "chickened-out" (while being too clever by half).

And the bullshit keeps coming from Jimi! And boy, you can see the cracks forming as his use of CAPS goes up!
Actually, I'm 47. Coming up on 48 in exactly a month. I've seen the decline in my lifetime. The first time I ever went to an ER was when I was ten and had pneumonia, which lead to to attacks of respiratory distress. They packed me up and took me to the ER because they thought I was in serious danger.
The place was nearly empty of other patients. This wasn't a high density area like parts of LA where the flow of patients would of course be much higher but still, it was remarkably quiet compared to anything you'd see today in the same town. The difference? Everybody who was there for treatment really needed help immediately. Nobody was there for the sniffles or a stubbed toe.
But then, the illegal alien portion of the local population was a tiny fraction then compared to today.
So cut the crap. The vast majority of non-paying patients to ERs are not suffering from life threatening illness or injury. I've seen it up close and got to pay an absurd amount for a few minutes with a doctor. I got to spend the next year making payments on a $1,000 bill that should have been $100 at most in a sane world. They're mostly just run of the mill complaints that any normal private practice would deal with, except they have this funny expectation of being paid at least a token amount. Plenty of private practitioners charge very reasonable prices, especially those who disdain Medicare. But it's hard tob eat free when you've created an underclass that has no reason to respect the cost they inflict on others.
And perhaps you weren't paying attention when I said a lot of people were going to die regardless. Do you really think the average treatment patients receive is going to improve under the new regime? We're going to get lots of rationing and general mediocrity. The UK already has a euthanasia program that is being used to winnow down the elderly who threaten to consume too much NHS funds. A number of physicians have complained that it is being applied well in excess of its intended scope.
It is the natural extension of when you put your continued existence on somebody else's tab. Your family cannot murder you without consequence but the government can. And yes, the UK electorate has effectively supported this.
And yes, this can happen in the US. It's already happening. There are fewer ERs in LA County, where I live, than there were a few years ago. The crush of illegals turning up for freebies is collapsing the system and your chances of dying in a trauma situation are increased for lack of facilities. But we can't prioritize citizens over trespassers. We cannot even have INS come to the hospital and ship them back where they came from.
That would be mean.
You know what is really mean? Having to tell my nephews and nieces that they may have to die because we couldn't bear to hurt the feeling of a foreign trespasser.

You should actually have a letter to send. With signatures (or at least names).
I'm up for it.
If this isn't repealed then the Republicans will have proven they are no more than slow socialists compared to the Democrats fast version.
Dustbin here they come.
McConnell claims that's what they'll do but he's lied before.
Boehner claims that's what they'll do but he's cut deals before.
This letter should go to the leaders and every Republican Congressman/Senator and candidates.

1) If he had voted with Scalia, Thomas, et al, MSM would have called the court political and the SCOAMF would have had a club to beat them with.
2) Got the liberals to put the brakes on expansion of the Commerce Clause to justify anything and everything (which the Conservatives were also ready to do,) which now takes that ruling out of the political realm
3) Reconstitutes the "penalty" as a tax, which furthers the description of Democrats as the tax and spend party
Sure, this now theoretically means that if you have enough votes, you can tax anything, but realistically, how likely is that?
Would Harry Reid have been able to get 60 votes to get cloture if the Obamacare bill had called it a tax?
And you know, if I get cancer I'll lose a lot of weight and really look slender and svelte and my old clothes will fit great.

Jimi, if a doctor wants to give away his services for free, he is completely within his rights to do so. He is not within his rights to ask any unwilling taxpayer to pick up the cost for his efforts.
There is this thing called charity, where voluntarily give of themselves, be it in labor or capital. Giving away money wrested from tax payers is not charity. One of the ways this nation has gone badly wrong is in allowing government to take over the role of charity in far too many situations.
This is not only turning kindness into theft, it also can make the tax payer into a party to illegal acts. In CA we have a number of entitlement programs that are odd in that they duplicate programs that exist at the federal level. Why is this? Because the federal programs have this pesky requirement of legal residency. The CA program happily throw tax payer funds at illegal aliens where those mean old federal programs won't. And do we CA tax payers get a say in this? You'd think so, wouldn't you, what with the voting and all. Why, we even enacted laws that specifically said the money couldn't be spent on illegal aliens. The state government simply ignored those laws or revealed loopholes that were written into them.
So this state teeters on the abyss. The amount of effort they put into winning the love of Mexican nationals makes one wonder what country this state belongs to.
Well, this has to end. The cost is simply unsustainable. We've created a dependency culture that guarantees a lot of people are going to die for lack of care when the jig is up, whether it is by cutting off the flow of money and saving the state for its citizens or by complete and utter collapse that will claim a lot of those who were productive up until now.
Those are the choices. We're committed to ugly. It's just a choice of what kind of ugly we choose. We're long past the point of no return. There was a guy, used to be governor here when I was a little kid, who tried to warn us about this when they put Medicare through. He said it would go badly over budget by at least twice. He later had to admit he was wrong. It went over budget by an order of magnitude in less than a decade.
When charity says no you can go looking for another charity. When government says no the next election is infinitely far away. You won't be getting another government in time for it to matter.

Actually pocket veto wouldn't apply.. that's only if Congress is adjourned. If Congress is in session, the president must explicitly veto the bill. If he doesn't sign it, it becomes law. Obama would absolutely veto a repeal bill, kicking in the 2/3 override requirement.
So Congress has to pass the repeal bill, then present it to newly-inaugurated President Romney for signature.

To this day, is there a single human who can honestly claim to have read and understood the ACA in its entirety? We need a doorstop law that automatically rejects any proposed legislation that takes over a hundred pages to define. Anything longer plainly needs to be treated as multiple items and debated individually. (Not to mention debated at all!)

Do you really think the GOP deserves shit after nominating the one person responsible for the downfall of the American civilization? Not at all. If they kick him out of the party at the National Convention, then they might earn one more chance.
They should burn effigies of Roberts, Romney and Snowe all day long at the convention. American traitors one and all.

1. If it is a tax, it cannot have waivers. It must be applied equally.
2. If it is a tax, then tax-exempt organizations are not required to pay it. (This goes to the Catholic hospitals and organizations.)
3. If it is a tax, then the House has some control.
This decision isn't an easy one to figure out. But on listening to comments and reading parts of it, I think there is something in thee we can work with.

Embrace this for all it's worth. Everyone in the US is levied a tax anti-waiver of $60 per month, with a 9 month reprieve for a D&E or other abortive service. A tax anti-waiver of $60 per month unless 2 cartons of cigarettes are purchased. A tax anti-waiver of $500 every 6 months unless a new Smith & Wesson finds a home in the new gun safe you got a tax anti-waiver of $200 for. A tax anti-waiver of $10 weekly for not keeping a physical presence at religious services. Perhaps even a tax anti-waiver of $20 per month for failing to exercise your free-speech via vanity dead-tree press. But most importantly, a tax anti-waiver of $75 per month for neglect for arugula in your diet.
Whatever and whichever Justice changes their mind? Impeach them for allergy to dictionaries and let's get this Keynesian aggregate demand up. Can't be done without a tax anti-waiver of $25,000 per annum for failing to but a Chevy Volt and make good the public's nationalization of the car industry.

The first act after GOP victory needs to be to secure the border and deport the illegals - right after being sworn in, as far away from the next election as possible. Otherwise, the economy still won't recover by 2014 or 2016, and the unemployment rate will still be sky high, and the budget deficit will still be enormous, and the demographics will move against us faster than you could ever think possible.
Everything else is a stalling tactic. Think Sotomayor (pronounced Soh-Toe-My-Yorrrrrrrr) is bad? Wait til you have 6 of 'em.

Popular doesn't mean "workable." The whole problem with the bill is the mandate is necessary to fund all those "wonderful provisions."
Popular also has no equivalence with "good" or "right" either. The slacker provision is bad law, no matter how many 20-something's like it. A 26 year old is a child? Since when? Guess we shouldn't be letting anyone under 40 vote then, huh?
The student loan federalization (accompanying the bill as another 'pay for OC provision') is a massive powergrab for the government.
Closing the so-called donut hole and removing pre-existing conditions 'sounds' great. Unfortunately, in real terms, they do the exact opposite of the bill's intent. They will drive UP the cost of HC, and reduce real access to insurance. People don't 'think' when they see these mentioned in polls. So naturally they say, "Oh yeah, that's awesome!" Eh, not so much.
Obamacare, in fact, is likely to drive UP the cost of health care. Just like Romneycare did in Mass. Even now, their legislature is fighting annually with the cost provisions of 'mandatory access,' because gov't can't afford it.
Not to mention all of this is a giant tax increase on the middle class. $2900 dollars a year for a family of four. Now add 'that' into their normal health care costs, and tell me that these things are 'good.'
Not so much. Prohibition was popular when it was passed too. Didn't make it good law.

I want to slap those voters who seem to just have their hands out to take from the rest of working America and not give anything back. ENOUGH!!

I've been saying this for a couple of years now. It's time to put the money down and draw the cards.
To tell the truth though, I think they are so entrenched in the 'old way' that they will cave and/or make a dog's breakfast out of it. At that point we need to trash them into the dustbin of history. While a third party may leave the libtard Demoncrats in charge for some time, I think we can take over at the margins, particularly if we can swing the money over to the new party.
Yesterday and today I am so disgusted with so-called Americans I can hardly write civilly. I went on a rant for some long time after I read the jackass decision from the Supreme Clowns. I fear that America is truly lost. We are become Greece. I don't know if there IS a way back.
