Democratic Enthusiasm Craters
— Gabriel Malor

In fact, as Guy Benson writes, Democratic enthusiasm has dropped to GOP 2008-levels.

That's from Gallup, which finds exactly what you'd expect looking back at the last few elections: the most enthusiastic side often wins.

The survey was a little vaguer on what's causing Democratic enthusiasm to plunge, but I'll take a guess. It could be that the Lightbringer turned out out to be a big fat failure.

It can't be helping that the President has been bleating about "context" for the past two weeks. The wizards over at the RNC are happy to help with that; they're encouraging everyone to watch Obama's "you didn't build that" statement in full.

The context is almost worse than "you didn't build that" in isolation. Look at his face when he mocks successful business owners for having the audacity to think that they were smart. The balls on this guy.

26 exactly what you'd expect looking back at the last few elections: the most enthusiastic side often wins.

Ummm... that's only a 2 (Presidential) election sample (plus the current, which doesn't count since the election hasn't been held yet), and it doesn't show that.  In 2004, Republicans won the WH, despite being less enthusiastic.

If anything, it says that if voter enthusiasm for Republicans is above 50%, they'll win.  It can't even say that, though, because the sample size is too small.

Not to burst your bubble, and I know that Democrats' enthusiasm is somewhat depressed, but the chart doesn't back up the assertion.

The reason the DNC has been using the "out of context" ploy is because the dumbification of America has created a population that doesn't even know the meaning of the word "context". So when they're told the remark is "out of context", they equate it with "it's not true".

Megan's daddy.

That's part of it. But I believe a big part was how the GOP didn't learn a galldanged thing in 2006.

After Bush and the GOP got clobbered in 2006, they rolled over and played dead. Pelosi and Reid steamrolled us on a daily basis and everyone sat around on their thumbs.

I was disgusted with the lot of them. We all were. It was pretty dark times around here after 2006 and it took alll we had to stay positive and funny while the Republicans laid down and never showed an interest in changing tactics (and spending habits).

I'd have said that a few months ago, but at the moment I think there's a   nascent pro-Romney movement that's starting to grow.   Part of it is because of the ever-emerging SCOAMTness of the Preezy, but also Romney's made some strides in actually growing a pair and not fading like    McLame.    Honestly, Romney's burn of Brian Williams on NBC the other night was awesome.   It was one of the first times I've seen a Republican nominee for anything basically say to the media's face, "Get your head out of your ass, you arrogant punk."

I would normally agree with you.  However, sometimes a stand has to be taken and a statement made.  Usually, the moment a Liberal starts crying, whatever "evil" corporation breaks the sound barrier with the speed of their bending over to accommodate them.  We rarely have someone we can point to and say, "Yes, this is behavior of which we approve: stand up for your principles, and we'll stand up for you."

When we do have those companies, we then owe it to them to actually stand up for them.

There are two aspects to Romney.

As a tactician, he's been superb.  Almost no gaffes combined with a laser focus on the economy.  His team seems to be agile and aggressive and they're getting under O'bozo's skin.  In this sense, Romney's a welcome surprise, since I (and many others) expected a replay of courtly Senator Reach-Around-The-Aisle getting punched in the face repeatedly by the Obama thugs.

As a policy maker, the jury is out.  Romney isn't an instinctive conservative.  Whether he'll govern as one remains to be seen.

Still, Romney is an American, which is more than you can say for the Dogeater. That alone is enough reason for me to support him enthusiastically.

93 The "You didn't build that" does sound like he's referring to infrastucture. That doesn't make his argument any more cogent though. All the businesses that failed (80% of them)- people used the infrastructure. Every taker in America uses the infrastructure on the way to the welfare office. They don't pay shit toward it. The infrastructure has been here for decades, funded by taxes for decades and everyone uses it because it is a public good. Obama is a communist fuck who thinks government is the answer everything.

"Why are you so excited about supporting such a socialist and lose for president?  Besides, he's likely to have you for lunch after the election", says I.

He looked at me for a long time, shook his head, muttered something under his breath (I think it was, 'Arf.  Arf-arf. Arf.' and then he ran off to fetch a ball.

Man, I HATE when these libs can't admit when they are wrong.

117 The "You didn't build that" does sound like he's referring to infrastucture.
That doesn't make his argument any more cogent though.

As someone pointed out, the only singular nouns in that entire tirade were "teacher" and "business."  No one is suggesting that he was talking about teachers.  "That," by the way, is a singular descriptor.  "That  gun."  "That chicken."  "That pic of Katy Parry mud wrestling with Kate Beckinsale, Refereed by Christina Hendricks."

He never used the word "infrastructure."  He said "roads and bridges."  Those are both plural nouns.  The correct descriptor would then be "those."

Going back, he also mentioned "the" American System, but since he doesn't believe in that anyway, we can safely assume he wasn't talking about that, either.

He meant you didn't build your business yourself.  That you somehow owe your business and any success you've had to "The People."

Sununu was on fire with Hannity.

Here are the two highlights:

#1

That's a president that first of all, tells the business community they didn't do it. And then he drags this thing out by trying to pretend that that's not what he meant. Now, you know that's what he meant because when he goes into that funny talk cadence of his, you know he's going to introduce class warfare.

#2 - Sununu on the WH leaks

Senator Feinstein said yesterday that it did come out of the White House. Today, she got Cory Booker'ed and she walked it back.

153 The "Catholic vote" for Obama--- I put it in quotation marks because a good chunk of it is CINO --- is bound to be somewhat smaller. A shift of just 2 or 3 percentage points could really hurt the Lightworker in some states. I know a couple of semi-regular church goers who voted for Obama in 2008 but SAY they will sit out 2012 "out of conscience." Okay, they may be lying, but then, maybe not. The thing is, these very same people didn't seem to mind Obama's extremist (not pro-choice, but pro-abortion) views last go-round. If you tried to tell them about the Baby-Born-Alive Act, they refused to listen. But now Obama himself has made all of this an issue with his stupid OBamacare mandates. The MSM has crafted the narrative as Obama vs. the Catholic Church --- it's seen as SPECIFICALLY directed against Catholics. This annoys even many Catholic squishies. It will be interesting to see how it pans out in November.

It will, if our side wises up and starts organizing.  Every riot that penetrates into "red" zones should be met by well ordered deliveries of hot lead.  Bear in mind that we'll be on our own - no Korean Grocer owes his store's ongoing existence to the PoPo.

I see them as being like the crowd that was facing a big-time defeat back in April, 1945. While some of them no doubt thought they still had a future -- at least one did, apparently -- they knew they had to hunker in the bunker and hope for Miracle Weapons.

Unfortunately, Bark Obama has more "miracle weapons" available to him than did that dude whose name we shouldn't even mention in the same breath with that of our beloved President Historic First©.

181 Alright, it's Chick-Fil-A for lunch. After all, call me old-fashioned, but I have a problem with guys who enjoy other men's penises in their mouths telling me what's going to taste good for lunch. You like it, fine. I don't have to like it. My not liking it does not mean I hate you.  I mean, what's next? "Try this, it tastes like penis! Yuuuummmm! You don't want any? What, don't you LIKE penis??? Hater!"

Of course, given how trendy companies like Kraft are, I expect to see the "New Hearty Dong Flavor Oscar Meyer Hot Dogs!" test marketed soon. Or "Spicy Smegma Flavor Doritos! Bet you can't hold just one in your mouth!"

Hey, I still have an appetite! I will report on the after-lunch crowd at the local Chick-Fil-AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

182 New Braunfels, or Gruene

Not familiar with Gruene.

New Braunfels has Schlitterban (sp?), though, so I could go for that.
Fredricksberg is nice, though.  My brother interned there as a youth minister one summer, I hung out with him some.  Also home of the Admiral Nimitz museum.

One aspect that I think is being ignored is how many people will not vote Republican no matter how bad it gets.  Between the brainwashed masses who have been thoroughly convinced that all Republicans are Evil, to the idiots on the Right who won't vote for Romney because he's a RINO,  Obama may pull it off.  The world has changed a lot since Bush won in 2004.  I don't know a single person who will vote for a Republican.  It doesn't matter who it is.

196 New Braunfels, or Gruene

Gruene effectively is New Braunfels.  Literally about a mile down the road from Schlitterbahn on the Guadalupe.  There is a Wurstfest in New Braunfels at the end of Oct/beginning of Nov.  Rooms, for anyone staying,  though might be tough to get as we had already checked for another reason this year for ones in Gruene.

197 Chick-Fil-A was doing a good biz for 2 pm on a Thursday. Only fast-food place that doesn't pack the drink cup with crushed ice. And I noted that it was very popular with the demographic that went 95% plus for Obama in 2008. We can only hope he hops on the hate-Chick-Fil-A bandwagon, because it will probably promptly roll over on top of him. He seems to be good at that.

Posted by: Sort-of-Mad Max at July 26, 2012 11:41 AM (VMcoS)

198 The "You didn't build that" does sound like he's referring to infrastucture. You mean to tell me Teh Greatest Orator Of Forever (GOOF), a Harvard Genius can't match his plurals (bridges and roads) with the proper word 'Those' not 'That.'? If he's referring to the bridges it should be 'You didn't build THOSE' But it still doesn't matter, the earlier statements about being smarter/harder worker still displays the same disdain for the business ppl.
