— Ace Shockingly enough, despite being an actor in left-leaning Hollywood and black -- two reasons for him to take the very easy path of condemning George Zimmerman without facts -- he actually... castigates NBC and the media's narrative generally.
He makes a sharp point to those in the media who feel they need to "help" a story along:
"Truth does not need 'help.'"
My friend steve_in_hb has been telling me for some time that The Guard is a very funny movie. I think Cheadle's more an important co-star in it than star (Brandon Gleason, originally from Braveheart, is the main character), but either way, I'm told it's good.

It's like Jon Stewart occasionally getting one right, but they're the easy ones to be right about.

I disagree. This is a VERY easy one to be right about. The facts are in the open and pretty much cut and dried. You have the unedited call and then the NBC edit. The excision of the dispatcher's question about the suspect's ethnicity changes the entire slant of Zimmerman's response.

I think, perhaps a little more accurately, this is an easy one to get right- but it's hard to speak up for what's right.
He could have been much more low-key in his comments, and still been "right," but it wouldn't have been as noteworthy. With a very public rant on Twitter, he made a very public issue of it.
It's something that should be honored (for what it is, I'm not say he's some great Civil Rights Hero), and supported.

I'm echoing Ace here, but to me that makes it all the more commendable that he's speaking out (a) for justice, whatever that turns out to be; and (b) pointing out that all this race-baiting is dangerous.

Still a little hard to do for them since for the most part they don't believe in the broken clock theory. Conservatives are all bad, all the time unless they tow the Progressive/Liberal/Socialist line all the time {that would make them Progressives/Liberals/Socialists).

Not openly/explicitly, but yes.
They'd rather just circular-file the whole incident (especially now that the damage is done). What Cheadle did was blow a hole in that tactic. He's, to some extent, urging them to do what they can to undo the damage. Yes, for a Hollywood leftist (especially a black one) that's a big step and should be commended.

Large C**K Prosthesis?
Posted by: Buzzsaw at April 05, 2012 03:30 PM (tf9Ne)
You can use a large spud, just make sure to wear it in the front, not the back....
Posted by: maddogg at April 05, 2012 03:31 PM (OlN4e)
Yeah...a spud would make more sense than a sock, since socks fill up with water and leave a trail of water pouring out of your package area. [don't ask]
But make sure you choose a well-formed spud....and not one of those gnarly-shaped ones, since a speedo would reveal every...little...detail.

@128 "Large C**K Prosthesis?"
Lulz! Maybe the Antis are right about guys "compensating" with a gun, though you'd have to be hung like a lightswitch to accomplish that with a .380ACP pocket rocket.

Even a breath takingly georgeous hunk of a guy looksridiculous in a speedo.

If thatÂ’s the case, IÂ’m throwing mine away.

We have millionaires routinely putting their million dollar careers at stake by coming out publically in support of unpopular positions? Must have missed that. Who knew?

Even if they are gorgeous, trunks would still look better
Yeah, outside of actual competition swimming, speedos look ridiculous. And I think most competition swimmers are going to the full body suits now.
I think it was PJ O'Rourke who said the larger the German businessman, the smaller the German swimsuit.

Well, he did say that, while he doesn't hate the Right, that he's not a 'new recruit.' Two more points for forthrightness.

Twitchy is a pretty cool site, founded my Michelle mmmm....mmmm...Malkin.
There's an item on Time magazine asking Nikki Haley an awful quesiton about how she would tip a Sikh cab driver. But not nearly as awful as how Haley answers the question about how Romney can close the "gap" with female voters: Romney will rely on his wife's appeal.
Nothing about policy or principle, or the fact that married women prefer the GOP.
Ugh.

Actually, dagny, never having googled "men in speedos" I didn't know that. Amazing what you can learn here at AoSHQ.

I want to see Spike Lee personally writing 10,000,000 checks for $0.99 each, like The Jerk that he is.

I agree. Cheadle is the kind of lefty I could co-exist with. Apparently, facts and truth are something that matter to him so I believe we could at least have a civil dialogue and coexist together. The other kind - bat-shit crazy, fact averse, win at all costs lefty? No. I want them destroyed because they have made it obvious that there is no living in peace with them. One side or the other goes. It's just a matter of time.

I should have known that from a quick comment about guns and Speedos, the horde would focus exclusevely on the Speedos. My bad.
